Too Long, no Talk Talk
Wow. I just checked out my last post. It's been so long since I have even looked at my GS profile.
I still haven't put down FFXI, although I have toned down my play to try some other titles.
I plan on keeping this blog mostly about my FFXI experience, so I guess it's back to my little make believe world..... I have about 60 screen caps to organize and load into Imageshack. Then I will come back and start my little Vana' Diel adventure novella.
FFXI: Hu Mjuu the Torrent
It was weeks ago that this feud began. Having made the decision to explore the Yagudo outpost of Giddeus, I decided to document and hunt the Notorious Monsters who reside there. I faced Hu Mjuu the Torrent, not the toughest NM, but the drop is rare and somewhat important to the leveling of BST.
I took on Mjuu and dispatched him very quickly, with a drop on the Zealot's Mitts. I also notice on my trip to Giddeus that I can farm beehive chips from the wasps there, so I make the decision to camp the area.
It wasn't until my 14th kill of Mjuu that I decided to start making a photo record of my personal war with the Yagudo. Fourteen kills, and I have an equal number of Zealot Mitt drops, many stacks of chips, and weeks of wasted time. It is now a crusade that I intend on following to the bitter end lol.

14th kill ... Mitts

16th Kill ... Mitts

18th Kill ... Mitts
It was at this time that I heard about the 'Luck' items. There are some rare/ex drops that are said to give a better drops rate from all mobs. At this point I would try anything to get my foe to give me the Staff I sought with such fervent dedication. I went out and obtained these two items:
When I fought Mjuu with both items, I obtained a Scroll of Deodorize, which is an even more common drop, not worth even 1/4 of the Mitts I was obtaining beforehand. I went back to Giddeus with just the Four-leaf mandragora bud for my next attack...
... and obtained another pair of Mitts >.<
... at this time I knew it was a good idea to back away from the battle and regroup. I went back to leveling my character, and continuing the main storyline.
It was a week later, and I had just arrived in Giddeus, to help a new Linkshell member obtain some Yagudo Necklaces for Norg fame. My four leaf bud was working well, and I had already obtained a neckalce on each of my Yagudo kills. I ran out to Hu Mjuu the Torrent's spawn zone to find more Yagudo's to kill.... and there he was.... waiting....
I have heard stories about trying to kill him slowly, about attempting to prevent his use of Benediction, and many other terrible account of battles with Mjuu. I holster my weapon, rap my knuckles together, and set out to 'old school' box-his-ears-in.

Mjuu uses Benediction >.< ... I have obtained Level 50 now... and my damage is too much.... I am destroying him too quickly.... I see his life almost at an end and close my eyes....
... Davisp obtains the Monster Signa.

Finally. The war is OVER. I have done it. 22 kills, 18 sets of Zealot Mitt's, 3 Scrolls of Deodorize, and 1 Monster Signa !!!!
Woot! o/
MS gives another nod to Google....
I really don't know how important this is to big ol' Microsoft, but I like the bells and whistles they have been coming out with, in regards to personal websites and online profiles. The new XBOX Live gamertags, gamerscore, and eventually the new MSN My Spaces, are all things I could see coming eventually.
The only thing that has me scratching my head is this: Why is there absolutely no support out there for these new products? I looked everywhere to find out how to get my Gamertag into MSN SPace, or My MSN.com, I asked on the boards @ Xbox.com, and I recieved no feedback from MS, or from the community. SO I went somewhere else, Google Personalized Homepage , where, oddly enough, there is a nice little xml code you can find here @ a gamertag generator site that is insane easy to use. I though since both the Microsoft spaces also use XML that I could just add the content there too, but I was mistaken, as Microsoft does not like the 3rd party XML.
Why is it taking MS so long? How good will XBOX Spaces be? Who knows, and for now, who cares. Google has caight my attention again, and it's good enough for now.
UPDATE: While I was writing this post it looks like the XML code for Google has gone down, but I'll post a pic of the Google page anyways and try to update later.

Moving, MXO, and the evil of plastic.....
As my first 'bonus' I applied and set up a free Matrix Online Sneak Preview account. This is the 1st MMORPG I have attempted to play, and I was a little leary going into the experience. As soon as the Preview opened up, I jacked in and then waited an hour for updates, and then I made my 1st character. I did go into this experience with low expectations, assuming that I would have trouble with the whole social community thing. Alas, I was way off base, the game is just summed up in one word..... addictive gameplay. The concepts involved with the different 'character classes' and the unique abilities are just plain innovative. I don't really have any MMORPG experiences to compare this too, but I would say right now it is the one that all of the fantasy hating kids out there are looking for. I will write more on this in a future review.
Memories of 'Enter the Matrix'
I just can't understand why this game gets so much flak. I played this game when the movie came out and I found it to be a lot fo fun. There was tons of depth, and the game made me want to play further to see more of the cut scenes. I amdit I was really into the MAtrix movies, but that just made it a more rewarding experience. I couldn't believe it when I got to do 'Hacking' . It reminded me of learnig MS-DOS , and I considered that a good feeling. SO, after finishing this game over the rental period I returned it, although I wanted to play again to find more hacking secrets and use them in the game.
Then I start hearing the news, reading reviews, and everyone hates the game.
They have sold millions of copies of Enter the Matrix. You can't tell me that a crappy game would sell millions, the word of mouth would kill it before half a million.
Although I would bet that Goldeneye : Rogue Agent sold well..... and it sucked bad..... EA... GGGgggrrrrr.....
