schools out
Finished High School and looking forward to uni, but between then and now there are lots of games and so much time.
I can't remember the last time I was so excited for the beginning of a year, at least as far as games are concerned. With so many of the truly fantastic (looking) games that were supposed to e released this year being let loose between january and april, I'm having difficulty containing myself.
What am I looking forward to most? probably Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII and Bioshock 2 I'm a sucker for good writing and enticed by great characters and plot. Next I'd probably say God of War 3 and AVP, simply for the stress relief that killing vast quantities of grunts provides, well that and the two games looking bad arse (strangely saying bad arse doesn't sound quite as good as the American version: bad ass).
Anyway, in other news I acheived Platinum trophy status in AC2 (feathers, so many feathers). Special thanks to Roosterteeth.com for providing the handy maps and to IGN for helping to solve the 3rd last and 2nd last glyph puzzles (if you haven't solved em all DO IT IT'S WORTH IT). I would urge anyone to check out Roosterteeth if they haven't already.
As far as non-gaming goes, I've seen Avatar twice within three days, first normally then in 3D, I can honestly find no fault with it and will probably see it more times until I do find one. If I could I would force everyone to see it. If you can't make up your mind over wether to see it in #D or not, I would pick 3D. Normally 3D looks tacky and childish (Beowulf anyone?) but this is so well done and is about as close to total immersion as possible (at times I forgot that I was in a theatre). Sam Worthington is great as Jake Sully, he doesn't go overboard or anything he is just a very real and naturalistic actor making it easy to create an emotional and mental connection to his character. The star of the show though is Pandora, Cameron hasn't created a setting he has actually constructed an entire planet complete with it's own thriving eco-system. I would also like to give special mention to Zoe Saldana who played Neytiri, the cheif Na'vi love interest, she was also very naturalistic yet powerful when emotional. Also the bad-ass of the year award goes to Colonel Quaritch played by Stephen Lang, his bad-assness was one of the highlights of the film, which was impressive considering how everything else was so amazing. Long story short if you haven't seen it see it and then see it again, the 300 million dollar budget is justafied.
Well thats all I can think of at the moment. Enjoy Chirstmas and every other holiday you may have this year, I'm agnostic which is basically the religious equivelant of a man saying "I'll do it later" so I enjoy all holidays. Happy new year and happy gaming.
Platinum
Woot, first ever platinum trophy a few days ago thanks to Batman: Arkham Asylum.
With the final exams coming up in the next two months it's nlikely that I'll be getting any games until November 17 at least.
Pray for me...
Everything 100%
woohoo, got the 100% trophy for Batman Arkham Asylum, not long to go before I get my first platinum trophy
With the fury that is the christmas release period I may start posting reviews again and more blogs, heres hoping I have the time to do so
trophies!
I blame InFamous for my new found addiction to trophy hunting. It started as an excuse to play more InFamous.
Killzone 2 get
Well I got it, played it, finished it, played multiplayer, won trophies, killed red eyes,
and loved every moment
happy gamin' peeps
In the zone of the Olympiads
Well thats one God of War down. I'd forgotten how chalenging these games could be. Well with one God down I've already started the second game, I've just killed Mr. Hammer (to avoid spoilers everything is by code name), and have made my way to the second temple on this odd little island.
I attempted to get Killzone 2 yesterday, every store but Target was sold out, and Target was selling theirs for $10 (AU) more than the other stores, which unfortunately put it out of my price range. I'm also trying to find a good PC game to waste time on, I'm looking into Empire: Total War, it's been awhile since I played a total war game (Shogun: Total War being the last), and I'm sorta in the mood for some historical combat.
I'm attempting to save some money for the inevitable release of Prototype and InFamous, which are so close I can practically taste them, along with good ol' batsy in Arkham Asylum. To be honest there seems to be a bit of an action adventure trend running through some of the more desirable upcoming releases.
Still playing SFIV and am still enraged by how hard the game can be, my main problem is how broad the concept of "same skill" pairing is, I have entered in lobbies that claim to be for same skill players, only to find that the person I'm playing has over 5'000 battle points, as opposed to my 600 something. On a lighter note I unlocked all the characters, Gouken is quite the awesome character, though thanks to his incredible lack of a jump counter other than the most well timed Whirlwind Kick in existance, he tends to fall just short of his brother Akuma (or Gouki for the asian readers). I have also learned that Seth sucks, both to fight and to fight as.
Anyway, happy gaming and make sure to watch this space after the 18th, cause I'm going to the Melbourne Animania festivel.
Something old, something new, and a little Hadouken for good measure
Rejoice, for I have SFIV, and along with the entire MGS series I have enshrined it as a god. Seriously, this is the most well balanced fighting game I've ever played and also the most challenging. Online battles are great, the challenge modes are fantastic way to hone your skills and though the opening and ending anime films for the characters could be a little more revealing to the story, the arcade mode is fantastic. All this is far outdone by the sheer prescnece of the graphic and artistic design, the characters all look like they've been hand-drawn by the most skilled manga artists in the world, and though they look like cartoon characters, they all carry an air of realism in their over muscled frames. the controls are tight and it's immensly satisfying to pull off an ultra combo finiisher, and very fun to watch one in progress, this is one of those games that is very hard to get tired of. The only thing I wish is that people would stop playing as Akuma and Ken online, seriously it's annoying.
Anyway, I've decided to play through God of War 1 and 2 to brush up on my greek god killing skills for the upcoming final installment, and though it is a ways off, I'm still pumped to get to the new powers and killing weapons that Kratos will have.
Looking at some great new GDC announcments, mostly that of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, also very very excited for Batman: Arkham Asylum and Infamous, the hints of Hideo Kojima's new project served as the highlight though, that man could puke in box and make it the most riveting experiance of your life.
Saving up for Killzone 2, hopeful to have that in a few weeks, I'm also considering dropping Res Evil 5, simply because I don't know the story of Redfield well enough.
Anyway, happy gaming and for all my fellow Aussie's, not long now till the holidays
2-0-9 and the evolution of strategy
well 2009 certainly has started with a bang. Already my confidence is soaring that this will be another great year in gaming. Sure the recession is hitting the games industry, but I'm sure we can all pull through. The releases of Street Fighter 4 and Dawn of War 2 have given me hope for the future. Though SFIV still eludes me, for lack of time and money more than anyhting else, I can safely say Dawn of War 2 is a blast, I'll be sure to write a review of it soon. DoW2 seems to me like it could be a shot in the arm to the RTS genre, something that pulls it up and could possibly even cause an evolution that see's devs taking more chances. Killzone 2 is another game that I must pick up, and Resident Evil 5, I still need to play some of the older resident evil games so I know whats actually going on, but I get the jist of it. Chris good, Las Plagas bad, guns good, Umbrella and T-/G-virus bad, Wesker awesome. I seem to have started playing a lot of old PS2 games again, I'm currently playing through MGS3 after just completing Kessen 3 MGS3 is much harder than I remember.
Thats all the gaming talk I can think of now, happy gaming
so close, so far, and some gaming in the middle
I've been playing the Witcher again along with WAR for the past two weeks, Enhanced Edition Witcher naturally, I'm incredibly pleased that I could simply download the content for free of the home site, and I learnt some Poish in the process as well, to sum up my second play through (this time siding with non-humans rather then the order) I couldn't think of a better RPG, if not for the gameplay then for the story, it's just superior in how adult and mature it is. I've found that when I have another (non-mmo) game at my disposal WAR takes a backseat, luckily I play enough to level up at least two or three times a week (so far anyway). I also started up Team Fortress 2 on my PS3 net (finally) and the game is pretty neat, it's sort of like a chaotic version of CS or Battlefield, so far I've found that I ain't half bad, if I play as the sniper or soldier, but get demolished if I play as anyone else (though I'm yet to try the pyro, demo-man or spy).
I've attempted to keep track of Gamespot's TGS coverage, and have found a few games that I might be willing to add to my very select collection. Undead Knights trailer made me think of Overlord for my PSP, Afro Samurai is something of a curio and Quantam Theory looks like Gears of War meets DMC 3. If there's one thing the Japanese do well it's remind us that gaming can be incredibly weird, I'm still not sure what the allure is to Loco Roco 2, I played the original and got bored after about 2 hrs (which is about the time I finished it). I'm also interested in this White Knight chronicles I've been hearing about and also am sorta 50/50 about Patapon 2, as the original was fun, but got to frustrating and repetetive towards the last 1/4. Funnily enough Blizzcon is on and near the exact same time as TGS, though I'm not rly a fan of Starcraft and World of Warcraft ruined a year of my life (first two years were great, then the major patches came...) I still can't get over Diablo, true it was just a rip-off of Baldurs Gate and true the original Baldurs gate RPGs were better, Diablo was still one of those play or pay games of my childhood.
Trying desperatly to save up money to purchase a game that's being released in less than 2 weeks is a bad idea, Far Cry 2 may be out of my reach for a bit longer then I want it to be, as I also have to pick up Crysis: Warhead to rly test the limits of my new graphics card. Also gonna improve my PS3 library with the latest Prince of Persia game when it arrives, and to add some more strain to my PC Fallout 3 is so close I can feel the radiation turn my hair white.
I've probably missed a few things, but hey thats the life of a gamer...happy gaming
Warhammer, Wii's and a little HD
This one will be another quickie, I'm busy going crazy as my PC is in the shop getting upgraded
So to begin with I picked up the Warhammer collectors edition not to long ago, I had already gotten the head start of about 4 days so I was already lvl 10 by the time I logged in. I play a Dark Elf Sorcerer, I'm level 15 now, I would be level 18 or even 20 but as I said my computer is in the shop. I have to say as a man who has played many different MMO's including WoW, Guild Wars and even AoC, this is the best yet, though there is a little bias in that comment, I have been playing warhammer and warhammer 40K since I was 5.
Also I chopped my way through Star Wars: Force Unleashed, it was incredibly frustrating at times but incredibly awesome at others, I have a feeling that another month or two in development to iron out the bugs would have been a great help to the game. I think if they keep making games like that for Star Wars they may end up winning some depressed fans back after the pissy prick that was Anakin Skywalker.
Unfortunately I have not picked up Crysis: Warhead yet, but I do plan to very soon as once my computer is back from the shop I can install the drivers and software for my new Radeon 4870HD video card, which replaces my two 7600 GTs, unfortunately the reason it is in the shop is because it needs a new power supply of 500w, rather then the 400w that I had previously.
Also this week I picked up my fantastic, and more importantely free, Wii this week, my arms are already swollen and sore from playing Wii boxing, I should be picking up Brawl soonish and maybe No More Heroes if I can find a place that sells it.
All in all it has been an eventful week
Happy gaming
Mass Genocide = fun?!?!
I'll make this one a quickie, which means about 2 paragraphs by my standards.
SO as you may know I now have Spore, and I have to say it's pretty spiff, it's very addictive but it's also easy to take a break from, I think I'm finally understanding the idea of a casual game. The acheivments are great and each stage has its own certain charm, I do have some nit picks about it, but I'll save that for the review, my favourite stage would be the space and creature, followed by the cell, and then tribe, civ stage would unfortunately come last. I'm basing all these judgments on a warlike race I created, there called the Lazarnids if you see them, if I remember correctly my username is NjaqX99 or something. Luckily for my innocence I haven't encounter a huge amount of sexual organs waddling around.
On another note I may also be getting a Wii soon, as it turns out my Uncle was going to give it to my cousin, buthe didn't want it, so its been sitting in a filing cabnet in his surgery for about two years, he couldn't return it because he lost the stand, and no one wanted it on Ebay. I have some games I want to grab for it already, principle amongst them being Brawl, Twilight Princess, No More Heroes (violence on the Wii), Metroid Prime Corruption, still 50/50 on getting Galaxy and also I want to get Mad World, I'm a fan of Sin City so it seems logical to get it when it's out. Anymore suggestions would be good, I'm open to most games.
Peace out y'all, happy gaming
A day before I go Godly
well my friends, it is literally one day before I march down to my local gametraders (which handly opened a block from my house last year) and will be buying my very own copy of Spore, I have waited since the games announcment way back in 05 for this, and I am about to explode with excitment.
But I'm sure if your reading this then u haven't been living under a rock and therefore would already be loudly lamenting on how long you now have to wait to get the game, I now its a struggle but resist the urge to rob your nearest store and hold in your glee for tommorow.
Unfortunetly my glee for Spore comes with my intense dissapointment i Mercs 2, long have I waited for a game which could top the original destructive mayhem of Mercs 1, and in the terms of destruction Mercs 2 seems to have got it made, though after reading reviews this game seems simply too hollow and buggy for me, even if I can level an embassy with a tac nuke in the opening 10 minutes of the game I still want some form of story rather then just chasing after some drug dealer who shot me in the arse.
On thet topic of MGS4 and my possible review of it I have decided not to do it, to put it simply I don't feel that I could accurately show my love and adoration for this game, Solid Snake, Hideo Kojima and the rest of the series by simply writing a review, it would end up being a novel that would make every Omnibus quake in fear. So I will state this simply, MGS4 is the best game I have ever played, I love every aspect of it, I love the acheivments, I love the challenge, I love the stealth, I especially love the story. Even writing that felt hollow because it still isn't big enough, I'd have to invent a new name for the emotion I feel for this game. I'm still trying t unlock all the acheivments I'm 1/2 way there, though I can forsee some hardships in getting the Big Boss emblem (beat the game on Big Boss Extreme with no kills, no alerts, no continues, no healing items used and finish in less then 5 hrs).
I still play SCIV every now and then which I must say is one of the best fighting games I've ever played, and I got a new Dualshock 3 controller as my new 1st controller, which also adds a lot to the MGS4 experiance as well. SCIV is great fun especially when u like to fool around with mates, though combos are a little harder to pull off then before and some characters are even more abusive then before (Lizardman in particular), as I have the PS3 version I am without Yoda, but Vader and the Starkiller are perfectly balanced, well not so much the starkiller, actually just Vader is balanced. I must say breast animation has come a long way since Lara Croft stabbed our eyes out with those sword like thing they called a chest, I'm pretty sure Ivy and Sophitia belong in GTAIV rather then SCIV.
I'm eager to see if SFIV will live up to its potential, my only realy SF experiance has been at arcades so this console version will be interesting to try when it eventually comes out.
Most eagerly awaited game for though is not in fact Spore, but Warhammer ONline: The Age of Reckoning, I have waited for a proper Warhammer fantasy game for so long, I have already pre-ordered the collectors edition and got into the closed beta, and after playing many different mmo's in the past I can honestly say that this is the best, it's obvious that there were some things that needed to be fixed, but as a closed beta it still felt more complete then any other mmo I've ever played and it perfectly captures the gritty dark world of warhammer that I, as a long time (12 years) player of warhammer fantasy and 40K tabletop, have wanted to see for a long time.
Luckily for I learnt a thing or two about power leveling from playing WOW all that time, so I'll be able to juggle WAR, Spore, Crysis Warhead (when I eventually get enough money for it), Force Unleashed and Far Cry 2, theres probably something else I'm forgetting to mention, but hey it is September so if I'm not blogging it will probably mean I'm playin.
On a hardware note I will be upgrading my computer shortly, I have selected what I want, the Radeon 4870 and will be getting it delivered from a stoer, advised to me by my PC nutter (more so then me even) of a cousin, the store is called PC case Gear or PCCG, ordering from their website takes about 2 days delivery if you live in good ol Victoria, and they seem to have everything. So hopefully I'll be playing Spore on some nice crystal clear and more importantly high settings.
Happy Gaming and if you haven't already see the Dark Knight, its awesome (not leaving out Pineapple Express and Tropic Thunder, and Hellboy 2 if you want to see some truly weird crap)
you have too switch discs...o right Blu ray, sry forgot
can't talk for long just started my second play through of MGS4, honest too god t is the best game I've ever played, Hideo Kojima is a god. Crazy CQC action scenes.
As I need to get back to my comfy bean bag of perpetual pleasures I'll be brief. I watched the Dark Knight recently and haven't been able to stop acting like the Joker, best movie I've seen in ages, Heath Ledger is a god (R.I.P Aussie legend number 137 (thats right we're breeding them now), but lets not count out the new amazing Ironman movie, Robert Downy Jr. is a god, and also the new Hulk movie which is just plain awesome, considering the final fight scene goes for just over 1/2 and hour. This is the year of the comic book movies and it is looking incredible, Thor and Captain America movies coming out next year along with the avengers movie, its never been a better time to be a Marvel fan, Stan Lee is a god, him, Hideo, and Downey Jr. are all toasting there success in Olympus. Lets not forget the upcoming Watchmen movie and also the new Sin City, also hoping that Hellboy 2 will makes its way too Oz soon.
Watched some E3 vids and am more pumped then ever to get my hands on SC IV, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3 (importing from PLay-Asia.com, naturally), FF XIII and versus, SF IV and MK vs. DC, though I don't know why considering how frustratingly hard the other MK games I've played have been, personally I think I'm just a sucker for Scorpion and Sub Zero. I resolved that my game of choice will always be action or fighting, I think my days of non stop FPS action are done, I know now that I am actually pretty spec with SCIII and Tekken 5, recently my friend and I had a 60 match spree of Tekken, I managed to come out on top by two matches, you could guess that out fingers were raw by the end.
I finished my review of GTA IV, see what I think if you dare (it's really long)
If you're wondering about my odd title, than I suggest you play MGS4, its actually part of a joke from the game, too be honest I think tears sprang too my eyes when I heard Otacon say "O right this is the PS#, Blu ray, dual layered".
Happy Gaming BBBBBBBBRRRRRROOOOOOOTTTTTTTHHHHHEEEEERRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...r
GUNDAMit
hello once again loyal blog readers, marvel at my incredibly witty title, those who understand it will get a special invisble and intangible cookie in the mail.
Now that that is out of the way let me start by saying this, in the next two to three weeks gaming shall be upgrded past breathing on the level of importance scale, why you ask? because I'm getting GTAIV, Mass Effect for the PC and MGS4, got my pre orders down and finally have enough money to buy them, so I'm just sucking up time by trying to complete CoD4 on Veteran, it's aggravating. Anyway I did finish Patapon, DMC4 and Uncharted, they're all great games, Uncharted is my favourite purely because the characters are so likeable, my least favourite would be Patapon, simply because the novelty wears thin towards the end of the game.
I'll write a review for DMC4 and Patapon eventually, I also finally got around to writing a review for Resistance, which is a PS3 favourite of mine, simply because you get a gun that can fire turrets. So I did say a few months ago that I was going to get GTAIV as soon as it came out, so you're probably saying "hey whats the deal homes" assuming you are actually so out of it that you still refer to people as homes, and if your white. Well the deal is that I actually didn't have enough money, turns out I spent it all on comics and Manga's...oops, look I have a lot of addictions okay, don't judge me. BUT thanks to my awesome powers I have finally accumulated enough money to not only buy GTAIV but also Mass Effect for the PC along with it, and assuming I can actually find out where I put my banks account number, I'll be able to buy MGS4 upon release.
So as I said I have actually been playing CoD4 to pass the time, now I did say before that CoD4 multiplayer had been malfuncitioning to the point where the game wouldn't start up, well I fixed that problem and so I can play again, the only problem was that all my save data got erased in the process, so I began trying to level back up to 55, previously I had 2 lvl 55 profiles, I already have one back up, and I think I'll finish a few challenges and then leave it at that. CoD4 has served me very very very well, but it's time I put it in retirement, I'm known for being a multi game guy, I can't stick to one for too long. I already got the M4 and the G3 expert challenges done as well as most of killer and operations, we'll see how I feel tommorow when I pick up GTAIV and ME.
So what else have I been doing to soak up time? well I saw Ironman a couple of times, I have to say it is the best comic book movie, thanks to Robert Downey Jr., I'd say Ironman is equal first with Xmen 2, I can't wait for the sequel, and also the new Hulk movie is coming out, I'll see it simply cause I like seeing things blow up and giant green dudes chuckin monster fits and smashing cars, but also good old Tony Stark will bemaking an appearance, no doubt to release the Hulkbuster suit (comic book referance, you know what I'm talking about True Believers).
Also I recently bought the entire series of Gundam Seed, I'm not finished it yet, but I have to say it's pretty awesome, I mean the constant crying aside, you do actually care for the characters and the massive battles are just plain awesomness in a tube made of awesome metal spray painted with awesome (*huff**huff**faint*)
Well I'll keep yall posted, happy gamin homes
Amimania for life!!!
Well gamers and anime fans alike, I made a promise and I'm gonna keep it. Here is what went down at Animania 08 in Melbourne at the Rydges hotel.
WEll the day started off pretty crappy, I had been suffering from a bad cold for the past few days and I had to walk in the cold to the train station where I met my friend. From there we trained to Parliment station and went down to the Rydges from there. Now the festival started at 10 AM and we got the at about 9:15, guess what there was already a line extending outside, so we waited in a near imobile line for about 40 minutes before we finally got in. Luckily me and my friend passed the time by guessing which anime/game the cosplayers were from, there was plenty of Kingdom Hearts I can say that much, but nothing can compare to the sheer number of Naruto ppl that came out.
Once we got in everything turned upside down, it was amazing, I have never seen so much awesome anime and manga merchandise in the one place before, there were artbooks, bags, DVD collections and even 2 foot tall models of Samus Aran in full body armour. There were T-shirts, wall scrolls, I got a huge Full Metal Alchemist one, art work, manga that hadn't been released anywhere else, I even managed to grab the 14th issue of Full Metal Alchemist, which I am the biggest fan of ever, seriously. There was even a Samurai Champloo Manga, and even the actual Death Note, seriously. The crowds were a bug, but it was forgivable considering the amount of awesome stuff that was there, though I couldn't buy everything I wanted, I did come to the conclusion that next year I'm bringing over $200 with me for merchandise, no joke. The mother of all pieces though was at the end of the line, the rarest of the rare, the most awesome thing in anime and manga existance, perfect class Gundam models!!!, valued at over $200m this models are about the same size as a PC case, they are so detailed that they would make Michaelangelo turn over in his grave. Obviously I didn't have enough money for them, so I settled for getting something else, I spoke to one of the guys at the store he said that this was the largest selling line of Gundams, he told me about how each model is graded by class, from 1st being not so detailed, to Heavy Grade being quite detailed but still needing a bit of a paint job, to Master being so incredibly amazing (one of them had angel wings, yea a robot death machine with angel wings) to perfect, which is so infinently rare it makes everything around it obselete. so I setteled on a Heavy Grade "Blaze Zaku: Phantom", the guy told me it was a good place to strart so I went with it.
So anyway, After that We went to the games room, which had Tekken 5, Dark Stalkers, Mario Kart DD, Smash Bors. Melee, and the main attraction Brawl. My friend and Isigned up for the Brawl contest, needless to say there were plenty of people. Well I lost in the first round, the mistake was that A) I fogot the jump button and B) there was another guy playing as Ike and I was playing as Marth so we both got each other mixed up *sigh*, but my firend won, and he won in the Semi's too, he was in the finals against 2 0thers, but only came second because the winner was turtleing like crazy, seriously you would not believe how often he turtled. Anyway, he was still happy cause he didn't have the game and the other two did, in fact he didn't even have a Wii.
After this we ducked out to little Bourke St. AKA China town for some grub, when we came back I entered a drawing contest, I didn't expect to win, if you saw the quality of the other contestants work, you wouldn't even want to enter. SO from there it was straight to the Cosplay tourney, it was really the highlight of the festival, some of the effort that these people put in was great, some weren't so great, but most were. There were three catagories, singles, groups and World Cosplay Summit, of which there was only one group. The singles first, they were pretty awesome, three really stood out, one was a guy dressed as a cheerleader from an Anime which name escapes me at the time, he did a whole dance that went for 10 minutes, it was the funniest thing I have ever seen, he said he practised an hour a day for three weeks to get it right. Another highlight was from a girl who did an amazing costume from another Anime that escapes m at the present time, she made a giant sword which looked really amazing, the other great one was a guy dressed as a character from Bleach, he was amazing looking, he had two rather wicked looking swords. Next came the World Cosplay Summit, the only contestants were actually from Perth, which is somewhat puzzeling. One came as the KH version of Cloud and the other as the KH version of Sephiroth, they acted out their entire battle to the sounds of One Winged Angel. It was amazing to watch, if not a little bit corny. Still the Buster Sword was there in all its glory so props must given for that, the two girls automaticaly got through to Sydney for the chance to represent the country because they were the only ones copeteing in Melbourne. next were the groups which was dominated by Naruto, the costumes were good, but only one of the acts was good, they did the whole battle + Naruto's split body Chakra and even the sexy chakra which was hilarious, though it was disturbing when the one dressed as Kakashi or whatever his name is dragged one of them away *cough*. So after all this we went out to frolic in the screening room.
In the screening room we watched an episode of Black Lagoon and Air Gear, which neither of us had seen before, we thought it was interesting but we ducked back into the games room to check out the Tekken 5 tourney, I didn't sign cause I didn't want to be humiliated, but upon seeing how the others played, I would've mopped the floor with them, as I said to my friend: "Gimme Hwoarang, gimme Feng Wei and I'll kick so much ass it'll make your head spin" funnily enough nerly every competitor picked Steve Fox.
SO after much fun and a bit more searching the merchandise I got a badge that said "Victim of Incompetence" and also a tiny ChiBi model of a Gundam.
It was Awesome, next year the two of us will grace Animania again, and this time we may even pop in as Mugen and Jin, hope to see you there.
Arigato and happy gaming BANZAIIIIIiii
I'm going Japanesea...sort of
welcome to another blog. recently my game pile has become even larger, with additions like Crisis Core and Uncharted, also I got a few up and coming games I like that look really awesome. So lets get to it.
First up the complaining paragraph, if you wanna get straight to my thoughts about some of the new games skip this, if you wanna laugh and my doings, go right ahead and read. Anyway... So I picked up Soulstorm and started playing it right off the bat, which was a bad idea because it took a lot of time away from my DMC4 and Patapon playing. I can say that I haven't finished DMC4 and it has been about two or three months since I got it. patapon remains unfinished, the gimik kinda wore off I suppose. So anyway I try out the new Dark Eldar race, being a warhammer fanatic, I can say that I was a big fan of the DE army from 40K, I had a 3000 point army of them sitting in a model case (warhammer lingo), so I start playing and the first thing that hits me is this...were the hell are my turrets? Well there are none, the DE are so rush orientated they have absolutely no defence, which really ****s me cause I'm a base building kind of player. So my foray into Soulstorm came to a temporary end after finishing it with the SoB (sisters) and the DE, I can't see the point right now of playing the other races, considering I've played them in all the previous incarnations. So then I got Uncharted and I'm up to a point in it that also really ****s me, for those who've played I'll give you a clue: massive plot twists, 1940's guns, lots of dark corridors, power generator, SCARED. though once Crisis Core came (ordered it from play-asia.com, they're awesome) I haven't played anything else, haven't done anything else for that matter, haven't slept in a week, need to finish game, need to play again so I can get all the summons and 100% missions complete...BRAAAAAAIIIIINNNNNs *cough**cough* 'scuse me. So once I'm done with that I gotta blitz through the remainder of Patapon and Uncharted and DMC4, and if I have time I may have a piece of toast, and soulstorm before GTAIV come out and my life goes in a complete downward spiral cause I'm to busy capping fools...ok I'm done
So as I was saying I got Crisis Core just last week, if there was a reason to get a PSP this is it, it is one of the best portable, scratch that, it is one of the best gaming experiances of my life, and I've been gaming for a long time, and I mean a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time. Story is awesome, gameplay is awesome, everything is awesome, even the annoying enemies are awesome (you know who I'm talking about), I won't spoil anything so I'll do what I did with Uncharted, here goes: Gift of Godess, Genesis, S cells, Mako addiction, cave, dumbapples, "need a key...". That should be satisfactory to not get me killed for spoilers. And Kevin Van Ord (if spelling incorrect feel free to flame) was right, I have shed a few tears throughout this game, and not in frustration, actual real tears that come with sadness. awesome game, if you don't own it buy it, if you don't own a PSP buy it and get CC, you'll be thankful for it, now if they could only remake FFVII.
So I already went over Uncharted so I'll be brief, game looks amazing, it really does, but the difficulty of firfights is annoying and the puzzles are way to easy, and who would have thought that that plot twist would happen, I mean jeez. My only question is, why does every treasure hunting game I play involve Nazi's?
I already went over Soulstorm so I won't bother again. Long story short I hope to be reviewing several games in the next two weeks.
So about upcoming games. For the first time in a while I'm excited about a new DBZ game, I played the first few and liked them quite a bit, though the more recent ones weren't as good, I'm really looking forward to this, the graphics look so sharp you could slice through a Black Box with them, and the beam attacks look like they could fry your cornea's in a milisecond, i just hope they include Brolly in there, he's my favourite DBZ movie character. I'm also excited by GTAIV, more then ever actually, I know it was a good game, but GTA SA didn't connect with me that well. Games like SCIV and STIV also coming along nicely, SCIV isn't that far away now, though I'm very worried about Tekken 6, GS get into gear and update the page plz, your fallin behind here. Haze is also looking sharp, it seems to have come a long way since the BETA version I played at the Egames expo last year. I can't think of anything else right now that I haven't mentioned before.
If anyone is interested to know, me and my firend will be gracing the anime expo at the Rydges hotel in Melbourne city on Saturday, I'll make sure to post some picks of the place as well as, hopefully a few sneak peeks at upcoming games and anime shows.
Happy gamin' 'n' ****
games X 3 + school + homework = problems with finishing on time
hello again, for this blog I'll be going on something of a rant about how i cannot juggle work, school, gaming and buying more games into the timeframe i would like and also express some level of disappointment about some recent events...
To start with here is the news at its minimum, I've finished turok on hard and normal and got tired of it when I was half way through on inhuman. I am now playing Patapon, DMC4 and am back on the wagon with CoD4 multiplayer. So in trying to finish DMC4 and Patapon, both of which are quite difficult, so I can write a review and then play them a second time, they're just that good, i haven't had any time to get any other games, I was hoping to get GoW:CoO for my PSP, Uncharted (which I've been meaning to get for a long time now), Army of Two (despite GS review i am still interested in it), Soulstorm (which is supposedly out but GS is yet to review it) and of course buy a wireless ethernet cable for my PS3. I'm not overly fussed about this though, as the three games I'm playing are very satysfying, in fact I'm very close to lvl 55 in CoD 4 and nearly have finished all the assault weapon challenges. I'll give a review of the other two games when I'm done, which will probably be either by early April (if I'm lucky) or, more likely, the end of April.
Now for a quick nd humerous anticdote... Me and a friend are trying to make a monster movie, we loved the old Godzilla movies and the new ones too, though not the 1998 re-make, that was horrible, so anyway... We were looking for a toy we could use to create stop motion and starngely enough a weird toy caught my eye, it was a Steve Irwin action figure... Now before anyway becomes outraged there was no sign that said 'Stingray not included' in fact there was no stingray anyway... Thats pretty much it, I mean it did have recordings of his voice and all, which was weird. So anyway we also chanced upon a MGS4 Old Snake action figure in the Go Figure store on high st. We both thought it was too early, but I'm prolly gonna get it anyway, it looked really cool.
SO anyone on to the dissapointing evetns: the government is still rating games, Chasers is not back on, the Simpsons are no longer on channel ten, Army of Two got a 6.5, Soulstorm has not been reviewed, Tekken 6 page has not been updated, heroes has not returned and Gilligan is still on his island
happy gaming y'all
Ron Perlman says, lets get to the ship
G'day G'day, time for a new blog post from everyones favourite sub-human. Well today isn't a historic day, sorry to put you down.
Anyway, last week I picked up Turok, thats right the latest in Dino knifing action, though it lacked polish it was still fun to stab dinosaurs, until I got to the last few missions (I'm on the last boss now, attempt 7), where it became incredibly difficult to do anything. Still if getting into knife fights is wrong, hey I don't wanna be right. It also includeds in the cast Ron Perlman, who you may remember from such action thrillers as Alien Resurrection, where he starred as the smart arse merc who pissed everyone of and ended up kissing the wheel chair dude, and something else that escapes me at this time.
On the agenda today also includeds a recent purchase of DMC4, though I haven't gotten around to playing it yet, I'm sure it'll be good fun for me.
Still waiting for Gamespot to update there Tekken 6 page and also waiting on information on an upcoming mortal combat game, I'm new to the series so we'll see how this pans out. Also waiting for releases from FFVII: Crisis Core, and SCIV. Also considering a new purchase of Uncharted, in order to maximise my PS3 pleasure factor. Trying to find a store in my area that stocks Patapon and the Club, which, though it sounds disappointing, may make a fun addition to my PS3 collection. I'm taking a break from PCing for awhile, at least until I can get me a sweet new 8800 GT to replace my somewhat dated double dose of 7700 GeForce's.
New game sthat have caught my eye recently include Red Alert 3, Tiberium, Last Remnant and PS Home.
Still trying to find a wireless ethernet for my PS3, any information would be choice.
Happy Gaming and etc.
Poland? Thats in Africa right?
So I'm currently in the process of relieving my overburden somewhat under updated (hardware wise) PC of its junk, which also includes all but one of my games, as I have finished and re-finished everything I have. So as I sit by and wait for Gear of War to uninstall I can't help but think three distinct yet probably uninteresting things: A. Gears takes up 9.93 GB, yet Crysis takes up 2.7 GB, wtf is up with that? B. I actually only have one game left on my computer that I haven't finished and re-finished and C. about 80% of all the games I had, scratch that 90%, are FPS games (or TPS for Gears purists). So now that I am rid of the burden of having next to no memory, I wonder what can I get to take it up? You wanna know? Nothing.
For the first time in ages I can't think about getting another game (at least for a few months), thats cause I am obsessed with The Witcher. It is actually the best game I have ever played, and not just cause it has taken me longer than five minutes to finish. It is immersive, addictive, fascinating, amazing, technologically amazing (excluding Crysis), Gameplay innovation, Story innovation. For the first time ever I actually feel like I can do what I wan't, but I don't want to, because the story is so amazing and innovative that I just can't stop playing it, It's amazing, I can't think of a time when I have been more addicted and amazed by a game. I'm actually trying to track down the novel(s) that inspired the book, and I even have the strange urge to dye my hair white (may be going overboard here). If anyone hasn't played the Witcher, even if they find RPG's to be the creation of Satan, you must play this game, not only is it the first RPG to succesfully get to the standard of Diablo 2 and Baldurs Gate, it exceeds them at every possible turn. The story is so fantastic that when i finally finish the game (and I plan to try and get to all three endings) my review of it will be three pages long.
Ok that felt good to get that off my chest. So as I said I'm not really thinking about what games to get right now, but luckily for me most of the games that I thought were coming out next month are actually coming out next Q, so I have a long wait for SCIV, Tekken6, STIV and of course MGS4. I have sought of lost interest in DMC4, I finishexd DMC3 and wasn't really overjoyed with it, it just got a little boring, and the fact that I had to start a mission again everytime I died really pissed me off. Anyway, looking forward to releases in the next Q and the last Q where most of everything will be released.
BTW I would like to apologise for my remark about Spore being the most delayed game ever, I really should not take away that title from 3D realms, cause it seems their friday night kegger has gone on since 1997.
Happy gaming, and Winter-ee-mas.
+20 gaming stat
Well I'm finished with Half-Life 1 and the Orange Box, which leaves my PS3 playability (I don't even know if thats a real word) a little depleted, I'll soon be getting DMC4, so hopefully I can finish up 3 before that time (yea chances), and I've been considering getting uncharted, I ahven't really heard anything bad about it yet. Haze will help my FPS range be a bit more diverse, and Turok will help keep my PC up and ready (though I may still get it for the PS3) at least until DoW:Soulstorm comes out and I'm considering getting the Witcher, just for a bit of diversity.
As some you probably haven't noticed (unless you're a stalker) that I've been pretty overwhelmed with great FPS's. I think I might be done with guns for a while, so I'm trying to find some good RPG games, Fantasy would be best, so maybe I will get the Witcher. I've been on the edge here a bit with MMORPG's, see I quit WoW, shortly after the BC expansion came out, I just got bored. I really loved WoW when it first came out, but a combinationof crappy patches and annoying 12 year olds (or 25 year olds who act like 12 year olds), that drove me away, that and the fact that I got the game when it first came out, so chances are it was mainly boredom. Anyway, enough about me depressing final moments with WoW, I've been waiting for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, it's about time that Games Workshop released a proper Warhammer fantasy game. Thanks to many unforseen events, W.A.R has been delayed until the end of the year, so I'm stuckwithout a paddle, I'll still have things toplease my gaming urges such as SC:IV (yay for vader on PS3), Street Fighter and the seldom updated Tekken 6, but right now my only outlet that relates to fantasy worlds, is through sketches, DMC3, manga (or Manhwa for King of Hell, being Korean) and warhammer (books and minatures).
anyway, just gotta play the waiting game for a while, same goes for Spore, which seems to get delayed more then any other game in existence, keep in mind it was meant to be released Q3 2005.
happy gaming
