This landmark in hip-hop is different from any other rap album, as are most "landmarks" in music. OutKast's sophmore effort without question put them at the top as far as seperate artists, and most of all as a rap duo. That being said, this easily won them "king of the south" and they've heald on to that crown ever since. OutKast shows what most or what no other rap artists have, actual progress as they're carreer goes on. Instead of slowing down and fading away, the two ATLiens only get stronger with their later albums Aquemini, Stankonia (Classics as well), and Speakerboxx/The Love Below (another great album). ATLiens brings remarkable originality and a great listen, making this album a classic, as viewed so by many.

As far as originality goes, this album stops short. Though, lyricly Rakim is on point as ever, the production is what made this album what it is. Sometimes it's hardly "listenable", but it does have a few good tracks. Nothing to draw you into the songs, except of course Rakim's voice, which is the only reason this album is worth listening to.
