So I've been completely inactive for a very long time...

I'm pretty busy with college, etc. I DID make time for Uncharted 2 though, and it was amazing. First game I've been able to just completely fly through in a long time.

The real reason for this post is November, though. Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 are what I've been looking forward to all year. In fact, I don't think I've EVER been as hyped about a shooting game as Modern Warfare 2. Ever since I saw the Infamy trailer, I've been obsessed. Just thought I'd let anyone who is still friends with me know.

WHO'S GETTING MODERN WARFARE 2? and what system?

Well it seems I can't go a week without picking up a new game now. I was trying desperately to hold myself off until Soul Calibur IV, but I guess I failed.

Anyways, I finally decided to purchase Eternal Sonata. Probably stupid since we now know for sure that it's coming to the PS3 soon, but I couldn't resist my RPG urges.

I've put about 2.5 hours into the game so far and WOW do I love it. It's exactly the type of game that I was looking for. Oblivion is great, but just not quite the game I have been looking to play. If I had to choose one word to describe this game, it would probably be "stunning". The graphics in this game are pretty much unmatched in beauty.

Seriously, this game has brought a new love within me for cell-shading. I loved Rogue Galaxy, but this game truly brings cell-shading to new levels. It really is one of those games that makes you feel like a kid, but in a good way. My friend, who knows nothing about RPGs, made fun of me when he was with me when I bought it because of the cover art.

Oh well, I love the game . The combat system is incredibly fun. It's kind of unusual, but very easy to catch on to. So far, I've just had a blast with the game and hope I can see it through like it deserves.

I also had the pleasure of picking up 21 on Blu-Ray today.

I saw this movie in theatres and loved it and had decided it would be my first Blu-Ray purchase in quite a while. I'm trying to build up my Blu-Ray collection in hopes that the mass switch will come in the next year or so.

Anyways, these purchases should finally hold me over until Soul Calibur IV, one week from today. I'm excited to finally have an RPG I was looking for in my possession.

Well I have just returned from the movies after seeing The Dark Knight for the third time. I tell you, I have NEVER liked a movie this much. Despite the movie being extremely long, 2 hours 30 mins, and after seeing it 3 times in a matter of 4 days, I have yet to notice its length.

The movie is so perfect I can't describe it. It almost seems like the movie could have been shorter, but upon review I can find no scenes that really shouldn't be there; they are all executed so incredibly.

So I thought I might give a little more insight into just exactly why I loved this movie so much for those who might care to read.

To start off, I'd like to say that this more modern depiction of the Joker that Nolan delivers is the greatest of them all. Sure, Nicholson was amazing but despite many similarities, it can't be overlooked that there is a huge difference in the structure of the two jokers, as well as the many others that have been portrayed over the years. The Joker Ledger portrays is truly one acquainted perfectly with modern times because he stands for something that we all fear more than anything. Unpredictability fueled by genius, namely fear itself.

Sure, the mobs might be scary. The looneys like Scarecrow certainly aren't sleeping beauties either. The drug dealers, the corruption, yes it's all scary, but the most important thing is that we can say we know something about this type of enemy. We can find and pinpoint their very motivation and that's what makes them human.

The Joker is no such foe so easily defeated. The movie does an incredible job of not only telling the audience this DIRECTLY, but by the end of the movie forces you into seeing the true horror of such an enemy. An enemy motivated by nothing but nihilism. By creating this Joker, The Dark Knight has showed us the most horrible of all enemies in our world: one fueled not by nothing but his own hate for everything. Someone who follows no rules but does whatever their brain might tell them at any given time. One without fear of consequence, binded by morality or even attached to guilt. The Joker becomes this villain of our modern world. Without the crucial flaws of his peers, the Joker has become more than villain, but an image, an icon in his own right -- one greater than Harvey Dent or Batman has ever been.

That's why the Joker stands out to me as the main character in this movie moreso than our heroic Dark Knight. He is "an agent of chaos" as he so perfectly states, and he proves it with even more furious distinction.

Never before have such powerful lines been spoken in movies. The simple line "Why so serious" has become somewhat of a popular phrase in the past few days and I think it deserves the attention it's gotten. It portrays the central ideals of the nihilism that fuels his rage and his onslaught.

Why is everyone so serious? What matters? Who cares if you die, if we all die? Who cares if the plans fall apart? Who cares if the cities burn and civilization falls? Who cares about humankind? Why defend what is hopeless in its own right?

Despite everything that happens throughout the movie, two statements seem to stand out above all to me. However, I'm not quite sure which one was MEANT to be seen as the more powerful.

The first of them seems to be the one meant for audiences. In the end, despite everything - despite the Joker turning the white knight, Harvey Dent into his perfect protege, proving that no one is incorruptible - despite the fact that the Joker outsmarted the police, Batman, Dent, everyone that stood in his way - despite the fact that the city nearly crumbled under the ingenius mind of a single psychotic individual, Batman remains something more than a hero, a symbol of hope for humanity in general. He is both the best and worst of what Gotham needs and humanity in general needs.

But then again, I couldn't shrug off another thought that kept running through my head at the end of the film. Despite the heroic ending, I couldn't help but feel similar to how I did after seeing Star Wars Episode III, which left the galaxy shrouded in darkness, the villains the victors. I can't help but feel that in the end the Joker, the icon of nihilism, the agent of chaos was the true champion - that all hope in the world can't help but kneel at the feet of a single pool of thought.

Who knows what's right and what's wrong and who is anyone to decide how the world should run?

Sorry for rambling, I just thought I should share a few of the thoughts that run through my head every second I'm watching this movie. You may disagree, but I truly think this is the greatest movie ever made. It has the typical action you find in superhero movies, but goes to much greater lengths to prove its central statements, which, ironically enough, may not be so centered upon what's good and right, but moreso on the evil, dark side of the world. Despite all its money and glory, I think it deserves more.

After all, it's not about money, it's about sending a message.

Well I had the pleasure of seeing The Dark Knight at midnight tonight. I'm going to keep it brief because I'm very tired...

But this movie is the greatest movie I have ever seen. Some may wish to argue, but I've never seen a movie so incredibly executed. The entire movie kept you on the edge of your seat. From the Joker's sadistic humor to the numerous twists to the incredible scale and brute force of everything...the entire movie is an emotional ride and a test of your brain.

After seeing it, I have reaffirmed by belief that Ledger is by far the greatest Joker that has ever been introduced to the comic.

After a shaky disturbance with the Final Fantasy XIII announcement, I have finally moved on and am very impressed with E3 this year.

Games I have my eye on --

Fallout 3 -- X360, PS3

This game looks incredible. I recently picked up Oblivion which gave me some faith in Bethesda and WOW this game really looks to be stepping it up. I really can't wait for this game to come out and will definately be picking it up the first day, though most likely for PS3.

Fable 2 -- X360

Another game that I knew about but REALLY caught my eye at E3. I love the feel of the world from the trailer they showed as well as the online aspect of it in which you can invite friends into your game world.

It looks like a really enjoyable game and I can't wait.

Resident Evil 5 -- X360, PS3

This game looks another amazing shooter and I was even more impressed by the showing at Microsoft's conference.

Gears of War 2 -- X360

This is a no-brainer. The game looks just as outstanding as the original which I have been playing lately. Really looks to make all the great things about the first one even better. Can't wait.

Final Fantasy XIII - X360, PS3

This game looks more amazing than ever after seeing the trailer that was shown as Microsoft's conference. It truly looks massive immersive and unbelievable. This is another game that I believe will be much better on the PS3, but congrats to the all the 360-only owners who are going to get to witness it as well. I just hope the multiplat doesn't damage the game's quality.

Infinite Undiscovery - X360

I wasn't really aware of this title coming out, but am excited. After all my complaining, I DO have both the 360 and PS3 and I guess it's good that I'll get to see more use out of my 360 for the new upcoming RPGs. This game doesn't look quite as good as the other RPGs coming out for 360, Star Ocean, FFXIII, and The Last Remnant, but still holds quite a bit of promise in its own right.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope -- X360 (timed exclusive ?)

I have been a fan of the Star Ocean series for quite a long time and just can't wait until this comes out. Graphics look great and I don't really have much more to say.

The Last Remnant -- X360 (timed exclusive)

This is one of those RPGs that doesn't come off a well-known series but really looks like it could be really good. I'm not expecting another AAAA title, but I really do have a lot of hope instilled in this game.

Resistance 2 -- PS3

This game continues to surprise me because of its scale. The first 1 had a similar focus and I can only hope this game is as awesome and addicting as it looks and promises to be. Insomniac has gained some of my trust lately, and I hope they don't disappoint.

I love the idea of two separate campaigns, one for SP and one for co-op as well as the astonishing 60 player online (which doesn't seem quite so big anymore, eh?)

Littlebigplanet -- PS3

I have become increasingly interested with the innovation that this game promises. If nothing else, it seems like it will absorb hours of my time and though I'm not really familiar with how exactly you create the levels, it looks to have a lot of promise.

Killzone 2 -- PS3

We didn't get to see as much of this game at E3 as I had hoped for, but I definately am still keeping this high on my radar. Between this and Resistance 2, I see much promise this year on the FPS front.

Infamous -- PS3

I'm not very familiar with this title either, but it definately caught my attention. Hope to see more of it soon.

God of War 3 -- PS3

Well, obviously this was perhaps the biggest gun showed at Sony's conference. I enjoyed the first 2, but when I saw the E3 trailer showed for 3...it blew everything else of the day away. It wasn't very long but it looked unbelievable and I can now add myself to the long list of people who desperately want this game.

MAG - Massive Action Game -- PS3

WOW, I don't know what to say about this. 256 player multiplayer? Unheard of but I can't wait. This is definately going high on my radar in the future.
