My laptop journey!
So today I had to buy my laptop for school. I was thinking yeah it will probably cost me around 1.5k at the most. So I'm browsing Dell for laptops. I find one for 1.4k. Then I had to modify it for the specs I need. It ends up going up to 2k but It's missing a few specs that I needed.
So I went back to the drawing board for a better Laptop. This one's base was like 2.4k. I was starting to get mad knowing that half the specs on the base laptop needed to be changed. I was just watching the counter go up and up as I changed things for the laptop. Mind you this laptop is for my Game/ Character Design BA. But back to the laptop. After everything was all said and done. I ended up spending $2,925.35. I was about to cry when I saw this. Cause I was thinking earlier in a few months I can buy a nice large flat screen tv. But now I can't. =( I look on the bright side, I have this most kick ass Laptop. Heres some of the specs :
XPS M1730, Intel Core 2 Duo T9300(2.5GHz, 800Mhz, 6M L2 Cache) ![]()
1 PERSONALIZATION SHIELD, LCD COLOR WING OPTION,RED ![]()
1 4GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm for XPS M1730 ![]()
1 17 UltraSharp TrueLife Wide screen WUXGA for XPS M1730 ![]()
1 NVIDIA SLI Dual GeForce 8700MGT with 512MB GDDR3 Memory ![]()
1 320G 5400RPM SAMSUNG Hard Drive
Thats pretty much sums up what I got for it. Got a bunch of other stuff added to it. Thankfully they had a deal on it. And thank god I went to E 4 All. Cause Dell handed out some cards for 10% off on computers over $1499. I was suprised on how many annoying options they wanted me to pay for. This being my first computer I built online like this. I've built tons of comps but none from Dell and stuff. Just tons upons of tons of options that you don't need. But I know enough about computers to know. I'm sure they get a lot of people that have no clue. So yeah thats my rant.
I look at this as nothing more than an object to help my career.
A day of Remembrance, 9/11.
So it's that time of the year again. Where you reflect on your life, to the moment 9/11. I'm sure everyone to this day can still remember what they were doing when it happened. I remember I was at the DMV getting my drivers license. Well it happened before I even left actually. I was waking up to my mom watching the news. Then we saw it on tv and the news. Afterwards we went to the DMV. While there, it was pretty empty cept for some people, and the workers. Waiting in line, the police came through to inspect the DMV incase anything was fishy and/or out of the ordinary. Afterwards they told us to leave for what reason I forget. So we went home and watched the news all day. But yeah thats pretty much how it went for me. So please feel free to post what you were doing.
Anyway my friend had post a great blog as well, and I wanted to share it with everyone. Cause it pretty much summed up what I felt as well.
"Oh yes, most importantly, Remember 9/11. Remember and honor the bravest and the finest who gave their lives to rescue people they didn't even know and probably wouldn't even like if they did. Regardless of your views on the day, it is one that has without a doubt changed the direction of history. The spectacular fires that raged, the agonizing moans from the forest of twisted steel, and the tragic lost of innocent lives perforated our ivory tower. It is that day that we realized that we were vulnerable and it was that day that our resolve was tested. Whether through ignorance or earnest we carried on, refusing to capitulate to fear, denying those who would do us harm the only weapon they have. Do not give into fear, Do not give into hate, for those who have given their lives did not do just so others would embrace such malice. Honor them, embrace what they stood and fought for: Liberty, Equality, and Unity."
I hope everyone has a great day.
Thank you.
Too many games, and not a big enough wallet.
I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem as of late. But I finally see the one downfall of owning all 3 next-gen systems. Be it, the Wii has like nothing for awhile, thank god. Well nothing I want.
But the PS3 and 360, oh geez. I have Gears of War 2, Fable 2 , Resistance 2 , Little Big Planet , SW: The Force Unleashed , Killzone 2 , Dead Space , Bioshock(PS3) , Rock Band 2 , CoD: World at War , Warhammer Online , Resident Evil 5 , and Left 4 Dead. I actually think I missed a few games too. All these damn pre-orders to worry about. At the point where I almost need a 2nd job just to get all these bad boys. I'm glad a few are staggered so: 1. I can actually beat them before the others come out. 2. I can save up some money to actually get them.
Anyone else in the same situation, or is everyone a millionaire but me? =P
Oh the suffering of being a gamer.
