A retrospective
Over the years I have been playing Video games as well as papaer and pencle games... I have done MENY activities that I would not normally have tyred. When I started playing video games it was on an old Coleeco vision computer system, it could play game carts about 1 step above Atari I guess. Many of those games could keep me interested for days, weeks, months on end. I loved those games, Qbert, Froger, space invaders. And a ton of others I cant remember at the molment. From there, Nintendo was the new system to catch my attention. And believe me, it wasn't new when I got it. It was some beat up garage sale perches. But for me, it was the best thing since well... Caleco. I played Nintendo for a very long time. But I also got a peneysaver route. Not easy for a 13 yr old girl to tote around all those damn papers. Anyway, I Finlay had enuf money to make at that time in my life to Perches... Dun du-du-da, A Super Nintendo. In all its glory, and my very first brand new game consol!
I played a lot of SNES for the next 2-3 years. clamming that nothing that Sega could do would ever make better games than Nintendo, I was... a Nintendo Fan-girl. Then it happened, Sega made the jump from 16bit to 32 bit. In the Sega Saturn. I was hooked. The bright lights of Sega had sucked me in... (for the last time I might add)
The Saturn was a very powerful system for 2d graphics. But the PS1 was a 3D engine, and it took the sales numbers that year... So, here I was sitting with all my money invested in a system that didn't have anything but sports games and the ocisinal diamond in the rough. It was this time I abandon the consol market. The year was 1996.
I went PC (the dreaded evil IBM clone) I played games like Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo, DiabloII, A ton of flight sims, and even a few melee adventure games, (got a box of about 50+ PC games to show for it) And then.... it happened.
Xbox the underdog, swept out of no-ware and then opened sales against the JUGGERNAUT Sony PS2. And not only did it do well. It held its own. I was hooked... I had to have one, So my PC went on the back burner and the birth of a Xbox gamer happened.
Later The big green box wasn't enuf, so I picked up a purple lunchbox, for a bunch of games, but MOSTLY, the Metroid Prime series. And finally, I forgave Sony for killing the Sega systems, and got me a PS2, for Lament of innocents.
So here I stand, a multy system owner, with no brand loyalty, Just so long as I get a good game, I don't care who sells it!
See yall next week
Owwwwww My Wrist hurts!
Well, its happened again, every so often a game comes along that totally kills my wrists. This time its the game I have been waiting for a while for. Ninja Gaiden II. For the most part I have been playing games that are not really button pressing demanding. Or movement demanding (Viva Pinata, Assassins Creed, Halo 3) But after only 2 hours of NGII and my right wrist totally locked up, I had to put a ice pack on it. But as soon as the painkillers kicked in, and I could move it again. I was RIGHT back at it. I really like this game! But ever since I got NGII I have either been resting my hands and wrists, or playing it! *smiles broadly*
So I was late with this blog, I know I missed a week *smirks* Ill try to do better.
Anyway, back to the topic. There are a ton of games that do this to me, but because I don't always play action games, when one I really want to have comes out, I go through this every time *smirks sheepishly* I know there are ppl out there who know wot I am talking about. And then there are the ones who play nothing but button intensive games all the time and have uber strong wrists and thumbs. So I was wondering... witch player are you?
See yall next week!
Waited tooooo long
Well, its happened again... this time with Viva Pinata, *sigh* I have had it in the back of my head to pick that game up for a long time now. And with nothing to do for the next 5 days I thought, wot an opportune time to go pick it up. So I tote myself down to my local EB games (Canada doesn't have gamestop many places yet) And walk up to the counter, "Hello there, would you by chance have a copy of Viva Pinata laying around?" I asked ignorantly. The employee smiles at me and then says these all encompassing words "That game has been discontinued" I get a lil frantic and say, do ya have any used?" Because at this point, I don't care about a shiny new disc and case, I just wanna play the game! But this has happened to me before, and even before the guy can shake his head and say "Not right now, and I doubt we will be getting any any time soon" I knew the answer. My heart sinks. I feel dejected and totally depressed.
Now I have had this happen to me with a few games, Monster Hunter for the PS2, Ghosts and Ghouls for the PSP, Legend of Zelda: Majoras mask... I guess the point I am trying to make is. Never put off getting a game so long that you CANT get it.
Thankfully there was a ray of light in this case. AMAZON.COM I looked up the game and to my surprise, there were NEW copes of the Viva Pinata game. So I quick like a bunny ordered. Thankfully it was even cheaper than it would have been to buy used from EB games too! *smiles brightly*
But you never know when the game you were always thinking of getting, JUST WONT BE THERE ANYMORE!!! So don't let this happen to YOU!
Tune in next week for my next blog!
Waiting for that one game!
Well, its getting close to the end of May, witch is a very good thing for me, I am REALLLLLLLY tired of waiting for the game I want to come out! In this case Ninja Gaiden II, But this isn't the first time I have been forced to wait for a game. Last year around the middle of July, I had to play all the way through Metoid Prime 1 & 2 while I waited for MP:C to come out for the Wii. This always happens to me. Despite how much I say I will never be that fidgety again for a new game yet to be released. But here I am again. 16 days till the all important title launch!
I have to say that sometimes I am a tad obsessive. But oh well... just means that I force myself to do other things while I wait for the fateful day I get my hands on the new game!!!
Forum lurker
You know, ever since I have been around on this web-sight, I have been wot is commonly known as a lurker, I read the forums that interest me, and some that don't, but I RARELY if ever post. To date I have posted under 30 times, and have been a gamespot member for more than lets see here, 3 years now, maybe 4.
So I got to wondering, how many other lurkers are out there. I can only say for myself, but I get the feeling that there are a HUGE amount of us out there.
Lurking isn't about not wanting to post, but in many ways, it makes me feel like I am listening in to other peoples conversations. A subtle kind of voyeurism if you will. And I always lurk just before I play some video games.
But that's all I got to say about that for now. Off to play my newest game. Okami for the Wii. To anyone who read this, thanks... even if it didn't make any sense. *smirks*
