I visited the Dr. today...

I had a visit with my doctor today to discuss the results of some tests I had done a few weeks ago. Turns out I'm not as healthy as I believed. She diagnosed me with Polycystic Overy Syndrome (PCOS). It's not as scary as it sounds, but it is kind of serious. It pretty much means that I have a 3 cm cyst on one of my overies (it's harmless- but it's not going away) and unless I take a pill everyday for the rest of my life, it'll just keep getting bigger and causing problems in the rest of my body (throughing my hormones out of wack and, oh yeah, heart desease, liver failure, and diabetes- It's complicated). Speaking of diabetes, I also found out that I'm Pre-Diabetic (type 2)- my doc said that it's a symptom of PCOS and It's good that we know this now so that I can start eating better and (of course) taking onother pill- possibly for the rest of my life.

I'm gonna have to cut this short because I'm getting sleepy. I'll keep you updated if anything new happens.

Good luck with the new diet...they suck, but I promise, in the long run, they really really do help. I was on one for three or four years. As for the news...C'est la vie. You're going to be fine as long as you're good. Doctors do enjoy scaring us don't they.

I don't really know what to say. I hope it's not as serious as it seems and I hope that it won't get anymore serious than that.

At least you found out early, before it becomes a major problem.

Thanks for the support and the *hugs*! I love hugs!!
Other than the new diet (which really isn't that bad) and the pills (which are surprisingly small and inexpensive) it won't be effecting my daily life. Sorry to hear that, Snow. *gives snow extra big hug* I know how uncomphortable those tests can be. I hope you find out soon and that it isn't serious.

you don't know me, just sorter stumbled upon your blog, but I just want to hug you and say; I share your pain... I got diagnosed with PCOS 3 months ago and are now in treatment. You're right the diet ain't half bad, the pills, once I get past the sideeffect which so far I think i've had every single one of is really nothing to get all out of bend from and with the wonders of modern medicine I'm hoping that even the baby-thing will work out, which wasn't working out for us which is how I found out about the PCOS. It sucks that genes can screw you over like this - for me it's a case of my mum's mother probably having had it too, though never diagnosed.
