Star Trek's 40th anniversary!

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise. On September 8, 1966, the first episode of Star Trek: The Original Series, "The Man Trap" aired on NBC. 78 more followed before the series ended on June 3, 1969 with "Turnabout Intruder". Star Trek later spawned ten movies (with an eleventh on the way) and five more
series with continuous new episodes for 18 years, from 1987 to 2005.
Not bad for a show that was cancelled after being renewed by the skin
of its teeth twice before.

I never watched an entire episode of Star Trek. I think I watched a movie or two. But I'm sure that Star Trek influenced shows that I do watch. Happy anniversary to Star Trek. Take care.

About Me

I'm just a regular young Irish guy trying to make his way in this crazy world of ours. I'm a huge sci-fi fan, especially "Star Trek", "Stargate" and "The Prisoner". "Stargate SG-1" is my all-time favourite show. I also love drama shows like "Law & Order", action-adventure shows and comedies, especially "The Simpsons". I have always felt that without that show, society would collapse within a year, two at most. I can't believe some people fail to recognise its unmitigated brilliance. I particularly like sci-fi and action-adventure games.
