this weeks gaming progress and some movies

I'm a bit groggy at-the-moment having gone to bed at 2 this morning only to wake up at 7. How foolish of me to drink coffee so late at night. I spent all day yesterday playing Torchlight. Didn't think I'd get this into it, but it has been very fun and for a Diablo clone, it really isn't too shabby. The similarities are welcome along with the improvements, particularly the kinder inventory management and having a pet that can hold as much junk as you and you can even send him off to town to sell crap for you so you don't even have to leave the dungeon as often.

I still managed to play FFTA2. Broke the 60 hour playtime mark. Veery amazing for me. I really haven't had the attention span for RPGs the past, oh i don't know, year or so? I've maxed all my attribute dealies the negotiation, teamwork and all that. They're at 99. Being over level 40, the clan trials are very easy. I'm not sure how much longer I have in plot before the game's over. I've got the first page of the book all fille dout and I think I'm halfway down that second page. If that's all there is to it, I could probably finish in a day. I'm having a lot of fun questing and filling out skills.

Machinarium is still wonderful, though I didn't play much since the last time. Have just one of the robot instrumentalists to deal with. I love how cute the robot is, but also how subtly disturbing it is with those bubble flashbacks.

I rented some movies the other day. Wolverine Origins was the best outta the bunch. I liked the movie, but wanted more from the ending. How it was, just didn't satisfy. That's pretty much my only complaint. It was nice to see blob. That scene with him was amusing.

The next movie was Crank 2. Wow. um. Well, it had some good scenes. The ending was riduculous, though funny. The first was far superior. His Transporter series is way more entertaining.

And the last movie was Drag Me To Hell. I liked it. That old lady was horrible and there were plenty of horrible scenes. It was better than I expected, but nothing I'd ever want to see again.

Right now I'm watching Sci-Fi's Saturday night movie. Some Amnityville Horror remake. It's not too bad. Nothing knew. How many times has this story been done? No matter. THis has some great horrible moments.

After this, I'm off to bed and tomorrow will be a great day in to game.

I actually enjoyed X-Men Origins more than some of the other films in the franchise. I think it was because I have a casual understanding of the characters so the changes weren't noticeable to me.

@hart704 It's been a long time since I've read X-Men. I remember the old cartoons and videogames more than anything else. I was just hoping to see more of how he ended up joining the X-Men. Ah well.

Torchlight is a cool game. It's big enough to keep you busy while waiting for Diablo III. From the Diablo clones released along these years, I only recommend Fate and Torchlight. Titan Quest is OK, but there isn't anything special behind those awesome, realistic graphics.

About Crank 2: High Voltage, I found it a bit more hardcore than the first one, which isn't necessarily a good thing. It's exactly as you said, it's just a cool movie.

If you like old-school Horror, I recommend [REC] and the sequel, which was released this year. The US version, "Quarantine", isn't bad either.

@ChristianKiss I knew Quarantine was a remake but couldn't remember of what. Awesome. I could never remember [REC]. Now I can snag it off Amazon. Yay!

I've seen previews of The Box and it really reminds me of some Korean movie I watched awhile back. I wish I could remember it.

I'm enjoying retro puppet master with my morning coffee. Love the concept behind those movies. I wouldn't mind seeing a new Hellraiser, either.

I liked Titan Quest. It never really wowed me, though. The graphics were pretty and it gave me something to do when bored, though it never really cured the boredom. I never got very far. I think the second area.

About Me

I have been gaming for a very long time. My parents might probably say, too long. I remember playing Combat on an Atari VCS - CX2600. Hours before school, we'd congregate and blast the heck out of each other. I remember the overlays that came with some of the games. I still have one for the Star Trek Strategic Operations Simulator. In my later years, I remember doing some Basic Programming on it, again with the overlays. My Commodore 64 also had a hand in my gaming addiction. I'd play Ghostbusters for hours and Pool of Radiance still has to be one of my favorite games on the console as well as Last Ninja. As the years went by, interactive fiction held my interest and then Nintendo's NES came. That probably tipped me over the edge, for soon after, I started collecting consoles as they were released. I still have the first two years worth of Nintendo Power magazines. I still pay as much attention to the oldies as I do the new. I also enjoy seeing what mods people have done and other games that have been made for the old consoles. Lately all my attention is drawn to my cobalt blue ds and 80 gig ps3. sorry microsoft, you just don't do it for me anymore.
