Can't wait to see what other surprises are in stored the rest of the morning!
Anyway, hope you all have a merry Christmas!
G
I hope all of you had a great Christmas as well (If you celebrate it that is) and I hope all of you were as fortunate as I was this year. I only slept a few hours again since my little brother and sister woke me up early to open gifts so I am going to take a few hour nap before doing some more gaming since I'm really tired, but I will leave you with a picture of ugly ole me wearing some of my new clothes and holding the 3 new games listed above. I'll be around later though so have a great day everyone.
Merry Xmas one and all!, I hope you all have a great day tomorrow - good presents
.
I thought it would be wise to get this in early
I've had fun today
, I made a great lunch earlier, it was a mix of Chinese and Italian. I made a proper Peking duck, made entirely by my good self. I had to pump the thing up this morning with a bicycle pump!, lol. That was after marinading it for a day. ( lol - fresh orange juice, shaosing wine, star anise, elderflower honey, and Oolong tea, to smoke the honey before roasting it
. - It tasted amazing, and it looked awesome. To finish we had a Lemon pannacotta made with Sicilian lemons. Then we drank Vin-sante, with Amaretto biscotti to dip into it, which is the done thing in Italy this time of year.
I've also drank lots of dark cuban rum, and smoked one cigar, so I am pretty happy people. I've got that feeling you get when your perfectly content and lazy eyed. I cannot move now,, I feel like sleeping here on the carpet, beneath the revellers lol. I've started to stroke it like Linus strokes his blankee...The carpet.
Take care all, and have a great day,
Linky
.

I would write about my gaming goings on here but there really isn't very much to say. Playing through the Pirate of the Caribbean DLC on LittleBigPlanet is about all I've done.
So yeah...nothing much to report...err...look a festive cat!

Don't think Kat has used that one yet
Anyway, Merry Christmas!
Sorry for taking so long to finish up this list. But here is my favorite game of the decade. First off, a recap of 10-2:
10. Metal Gear Solid 4
9. Call of Duty 4
8. World of Goo
7. Grand Theft Auto IV
6. Valkyria Chronicles
5. God of War II
4. Mass Effect
3. Uncharted 2
2. Chrono Cross
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

As stated in my thoughts on Mass Effect, Bioware are master storytellers. Take that talent and add in the Star Wars universe and you have KOTOR. But what's so great about the game is that you don't have to be a Star Wars fan to enjoy it. It's a well-crafted RPG with a riveting plot, an excellent cast of characters, and a fun combat system. Being a big Star Wars fan certainly doesn't hurt though. Using force powers and wielding a lightsaber is easily one of the most thrilling things I've ever done in a video game.

Hope you enjoyed taking a look at my favorite video games of the decade. Happy holidays everyone!![]()
I don't normally do demo impressions, but this one is a little special...
God of War is one of my favorite series, though I do have some disdain for the games. The first game is a masterpiece...The second was good, but not as good...The PSP version does it's best, but is kind of flat. None of them are paced all that well, and all have segments where the gameplay length is artificially ehanced (i.e. - Go here, do this, no go back to the beginning and do something similar).
I'm currently plugging my way through the first game again in the God of War Collection, and a few weeks back I played though the PSP game, Chains of Olympus. The games are all fresh in my mind, and that may help with my impressions. While this new demo has some very awesome moments, overall I'm still iffy...But March is going to come pretty quickly and I'll buy the game for sure.
Pros
The visuals are tremendously improved - Even the menu screen, especially when compared to the original games, is astounding. There was not a single part of the demo that wasn't great looking.
The story seems continuous - Kratos starts off with his scars and partial armor and of his normally upgraded moves...Though they could very well pull one of those "we're going to start you off with everything and take it all away" moves...
Enemies are smarter and more numerous - I never really felt like there were never enough enemies on screen at once, but they literally surround you in this game, and that alone adds a level of intensity.
Enemies are varied - This goes along with visuals, but the enemies are not all clones of each other. Also, in the demo there are the normal drone guys, and also five other enemy-types to face...Three of which are psuedo bosses.
Scale is epic - Instead of having boring backgrounds, this is something that is a simple touch, but really effectice in making the world seem massive and fluid
Blades of Chaos - The lighting effects from the Blades when you are using them is amazing
Cons
God of Dark - The entire game is way too dark. The Blades of Chaos lighting may be amazing, but I had to keep flinging them out to light up dark areas, even with no enemies around. While this may be remedied by a gamma setting in the final game, it was a bit off-putting
More of the same - If you've played the other games, seems like more of the same. Hopefully this isn't just a prettier game
You NEED a Dual Shock 3 - I won't spoil anything, but rumble is a key component of one Kratos' abilities. I was able to figure it out without rumble, but It took a lot longer than it would have.
So, one day at the system wars forums here in gamespot, I was in a topic discussing the fighting game known as BlazBlue (My favorite fighting game) I came across a certain poster named silVURCross with a sig of a hot asian girl. Now that I know her name, I would like to nominate this hotty for Girl of the Year, just look at her!

Wait, there's more

She maybe a cosplayer, but she is a freaking hot cosplayer that loves Games, Gadgets, and Anime. If you're into that stuff, then she would be your dream girl (Sorry my GS girlfriends
)

Hey Silvur if you read this, provide me more pictures now!
Nobuo Uematsu has long been one of my favorite videogame music composers, ever since I played my first "proper" Final Fantasy game in 1991 (that being Final Fantasy II on the Super NES, more appropriately known nowadays as Final Fantasy IV). Through over ten iterations of Final Fantasy, Uematsu has evolved his style while keeping certain trademarks alive.
Of his works, it's quite likely that the most recognizable tunes Uematsu has composed are the themes that play when players are forced into battle. Well, duh: With a standard battle theme for each game, it's the piece of music most repeated throughout a player's experience. Well, that and whatever standard theme exists for an overworld map.
Seeing as I have recently re-integrated myself into the world of Final Fantasy for the sake of studying VIII's junction system, I thought I'd kick off the upcoming holiday by bringing back the little music quizzes I used to do. This one, as I've telegraphed above, involves the battle themes from the first nine iterations of Final Fantasy. As such, it won't be quite that difficult; after all, these are some of the more recognizable tunes in franchise history. But who wants to break a sweat during a holiday? It's a time for fun and relaxation, so it's probably best not to start off with something maddeningly difficult. (I'll save that for Saturday.)
With that, allons y! Follow the link to the youTube video and keep this window open to leave your answers / guesses in the comments.

(Sadly, the Gamespot video uploader doesn't want to cooperate, so I'll have to refer you to the version I uploaded on youTube for the time being. Please bear with it--I'll try to upload another version soon if I can figure out why the one I've been trying to upload keeps failing to encode.)
I was thinking about how there are relatively few regulars that post new topics to GGD, they either link to news or just respond to what topics other users bring up, and I wonder if the reason is due to journals being a feature on GameSpot. I mean, if I recall, a lot of what used to be posted on GGD was fairly personal in nature; one person would be playing through a game that was a couple years old, and they'd relate their experiences in a GGD post. Now, that sort of thing usually ends up with a blog post. I do having a blog, but I wonder if we're making a mistake by putting our game-related experiences on our blogs instead of the game boards.
I'm starting to think I should reserve my blog for rants, and post anything game-related thoughts to GGD.
Well, since the last time I blogged, I have acquired a few more games. It would be fair to say that I've got a bit of an oversaturation of games right now (there was a big package deal I couldn't refuse), so here's the usual wall of text with just the highlights.
First, I finished Mass Effect. In 36 hours, doing 40 side-missions (including the free DLC) and completing 23 achievements. Game was well-made and interesting, but wasn't really all that enjoyable, especially at such length. Also, I got really annoyed with the enemies who can one-hit-kill you.
I went vanguard (shotguns, pistols, force-pow......I mean biotics). Once I got a decent level, equipment and the explosive rounds upgrade, I did have a bit of fun with the sniper rifle, but the lack of scoping really ticks me off, though that might have worked with another class....
Only got the neutral ending. Was going to go for renegade, but I kept helping other people when it seemed important ![]()
Also quickly got through Monkey Island Special Edition. I do own the original, but it was going cheap so I got it for voice-acting. Didn't really do all that much for the humour for this 3rd or 4th playthrough though. And the new art...ugh..too artsy. Especially Guybrush's hair. Curse had simple, cartoony art, and it was great. There was also this weird detail that moving sprites (guybrush, mostly) looked like they weren't part of the picture. Like.....those little cardboard cutout puppets....or something. The art problems may have been related to the new art being slapped directly in place of the old.
And of course, there were other niggles. No line skip, and I actually had to memorise what key brought up which verb (using scroll wheel was annoying). All in all, not worth it if you've played the original, IMO. At least it was cheap.
What else.....I'm almost finished Phoenix Wright. If you don't know, it's part adventure, part logic puzzle, with you in the role of a defense attorney. Quite good, nice and funny writing, interesting characters, interesting cases. Possibly a little short, but not as bad as I expected.
Also got a few other games, but haven't gotten far with them yet.
Evil genius
Mirror's Edge (just a little painful trying to figure out where to go sometimes, even with the ability to look in the direction of the next waypoint)
Red Faction: guerilla (Destroying stuff = Fun. Trying to drive through small towers while under constant fire = Grrrr)
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 1&2 (just need to figure out which to start with)
Saint's Row 2 (Just walking along, minding my own business, and a car careens off the road into a pair of pedestrians a metre or so in front of me
Glad to see a world where I'm not the only guy who'll be ignoring traffic laws)
Titan's Quest (really not sure if I can be bothered with this)
Company of heroes
Full Spectrum Warrior
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (...........)
And... that's it for now, I guess. I'll try to write a proper blog sometime soon, maybe.
Holy. Crap. Jaw dropped to floor, sadly, not literally... or not sadly? I'm kinda glad, actually. The only thing that beats this is Sheep Man. Yep. He does.
Woohoo
Images are too wide to post here, so I'll just link them
I guess that'll be all.....for now
Hey guys! I'm bored so I decided to write another blog post. A lot has happen since my last blog, like I finally got a car. It's nothing fancy. It's a 1980 Ford Thunderbird. I can't drive it yet though. Something is wrong with the brakes. My dad told me what was wrong with them, but I don't know anything about cars so it was like he was speaking a foreign language, lulz.
I've been gaming quite a bit the past few months. I finally got around to playing the Gears of War series. I enjoyed both games. They are flawed, but fun. I also completed the NES cla ssic (Friggen Gamespot.
), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game. My only complaint with this game is that I bought a lousy copy! It's very fickle. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't, but it is almost twenty years old! I rented Modern Warfare 2 last week. I liked this game too, even though it's basically just like the first Modern Warfare. It's really more of the same. I'm currently playing Lego Rock Band. It has some genuinely funny moments, and a great but short song list. The Final Countdown and The Passenger FTW!!
I haven't seen a lot of the more recent movies at the box office. The last few I saw were Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Zombieland, and Extract. All three were excellent. I'm really looking forward to the DVDs. I think Cloudy is becoming one of my favorite movies, LULZ! I saw it three times at the theater. I just love its absurdist humor. Zombieland was badass. I only saw this movie once, so I'm especially excited for the DVD release. Even though it flopped at the box office, (It only played two weeks at my local theaters. I saw it both weeks! Lulz!) Extract is an excellent and hilarious film. I think its humor is almost too subtle for a lot of people. The only movie coming out soon that I really want to go see is Up in the Air. Though I'm keeping my eye out on some other movies, like Avatar.
I can't believe it's almost Christmas. Time has been going by super fast! I'm honestly not in the Christmas spirit.
It just doesn't feel like Christmas to me. It seems like Halloween was just last week! Hopefully I'll feel more Christmassy once we got our tree and decorate the house…and watch Christmas Vacation. "SQUIRREL!!!"
Thanks for reading! ![]()
As i mentioned not long ago, level 55 was an easy one. Starting at Level 44 this year, i have gone up 12 levels but next year will be slower with level 63 and level 64 taking atleast 1 year EACH (expect to be in them in all of 2011 and 2012 respectively).
Despite a very annoying power outage about 2 minutes before the ending, I finally finished Assassin's Creed II last night. The in-game clock put my time in at around 22 hours, and one of the chapter-ending achievements finally pushed my gamerscore over the 30,000 mark. I really liked the first one, but this game is easily one of my favorite of this console generation. It's the first game I've played enough to warrant installing to my 360 hard drive.
I only have two minor complaints. First, a few niggling control issues never really cause too much trouble, except in hectic race-against-the-clock scenarios where Ezio jumps in a completely different direction than the one you intended. I'm also in the vast minority of people who prefer the pacing of the original game. My favorite aspect of Assassin's Creed is the DaVinci Code-esque conspiracy. I wish there would have been more time spent outside of the Animus and more emphasis put on the background information provided in each of the glyphs. (For those who are interested, GameFAQs user IrvineTomoe has posted an excellent analysis of what each glyph means.)
Also, as a little teaser for anyone still working through the narrative, the ending has one of the funniest lines I've heard from a video game in a long time. On the Giant Bombcast, Jeff Gerstmann said something about the ending revealing a huge hint as to where the next Assassin's Creed would take place. If anyone knows what that hint is, please PM me because I must have missed it.
I still have a few minor achievements to nab, but I can't wait for the recently announced DLC packs. In the meantime, I'm working on reviews for the new Scene It? games, so look out for those if you're interested.
Yep, that took forever. If I had kept at it like I had and not dropped off I could be level 58 at least. (Judging from the fact 2ndwonder passed me in the upper 40s and he's 56 now. >_>) (And dropped a couple levels from mods. >________>)
Anyway that's fine. I have actually started to be here more, but just in Decker's UCB mostly. OT is pretty tough going these days, I try to show up in the regular forum and RC there, but like I said it's tough these days. >__> So that's pretty much it, glad you people still read this. ![]()
Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Assassin's Creed II.
All three games are better than their previous counterparts. They've all embellished in some way. It's especially nice for me, someone who's busy as hell with school and work, to finally get off the gaming shniiide and play something other than Halo and Guitar Hero. I know there were many other great games out there this year--I didn't necessarily have to wait for these three. But I'm glad I did.
I just finished the campaign in MW2 this morning. Spectacular ending, in my opinion. It no doubt left the door open for a Modern Warfare 3. The first few missions were great, then it kind of dragged on several missions after that. But, towards the end, things got crazy.
And while campaign was good, online play is even better. I'm not that great--still a little rusty from playing Halo online. Yeah, I'll try to reload but I'll throw a grenade instead. That sort of thing. I'm really digging the new kill streaks and weapons. Also, I find the maps to be even better than in the first game.
I haven't played much of it, but from what I have, Special Ops is a really sweet mode. I'm glad they've included some old missions from the first Modern Warfare.
Left 4 Dead 2 is much of the same as the first game, but it has a significant addition that I love to death: the katana. It's pretty much the only weapon I use. Yeah, I know, it's not the ideal weapon against chargers or boomers, but I find myself using it a good 95% of the time. As always, it's a blast to play with friends. I just can't get over how damn fast the zombies are. One minute it's quiet, and the next thing you know... You can't move because there's a horde of them down your pants. It's insane.
Last, and certainly not least, Assassin's Creed II. My bold prediction for game of the year (maybe a little too bold) is holding up very nicely. It's the game the first installment should've been. No repetition, and no frustration. It was too hard to do missions in the first game with guards all over you. Now there's a desynchronization thing that stops your mission automatically to let you try again. The buttons are a little stiff, and the story is still ambiguous, but it's an all around amazing game.
So for those of you on my Xbox LIVE friend list, you'll be seeing me playing mostly these three games for quite a while. It should hold me out until... Ahhh hell, what's the next big blockbuster game coming out? I don't even know.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to blog for once to remind you all that today, November 21st, marks the fifth anniversary of the launch of the original Nintendo DS. Five awesome years of dual-screened gaming already!
I remember that cloudy Sunday morning, going to my local GameStop at 11 AM and picking up my system and Super Mario 64 DS. The place was deserted; I guess people, like myself, were skeptical on just how innovative this 'DS thing' would turn out to be.
And now, five years later, with DS Lite, DSi, and even DSi XL, the DS legacy stands as the best-selling video game system in recent years, with a huge catalog of games of all genres.
Thank you, DS, for being with me for the best 5 years of my life; here's to 5 more!

With all the great new games coming out these days, it's hard to sit down and play the older games from past generations (or hell, even from this one) when most of my gaming time is spent on the latest and greatest thing. Plus it doesn't help I have other interests besides games, and of course work always gets in the way. What follows is a list of all the games I own that I have either: A) never finished, B) never started playing or C) never even opened. Wow, that is a lot. As I look over this list, I see several games I would be ok with selling off as well as several games that I simply must play as soon as possible (Metal Gear Solid 4, Shadow of the Colossus, Odin Sphere, Dragon Quest VIII, Secret of Mana). Feel free to post your comments on the games that I have never played or are still sealed. I'll do my best to explain why I haven't played these games. Also, go ahead and post your backlog list if you have one. Now if you'll excuse me, I have several games I need to get back to playing. None of which are on this list! LOL
