Decided to get a couple more games...

Before I begin...

My rare Don Bluth books

This was a test of my digital camera. It's my two Don Bluth books that I got for Christmas. Again, these are out of print, so these two are rare, and are worth a lot of money. These were not easy to get. Trust me. On Amazon, these two are worth $65+. That's how pricey they are. So, I guess I'm lucky.

Anyway, I decidedto get a couple more games from the PlayStation Store. The first is not even listed on GameSpot for some reason, except for the PS3 version. Guess they don't know that there's a PSP version. That game is...

Numblast. Just an innocent little puzzle game in which you try to arrange the numbered blocks in 2x2 squares and over. What else do I need to say? It's just a regular puzzle game.

Coded Arms

Coded Arms. This was one of the first FPS games to hit the PSP. It did accomplish one thing...the PSP has a bright future for the First Person Shooter genre. The game isn't bad, but it's far from superb. Fun to play, though.

Finally...

Def Jam: Fight for NY: The Takeover

Def Jam FFNY: The Takeover

This is an impressive game. It takes a while to get used to the controls, but all in all, it's one of the definitive street wrestling games on the system. Plus, I just beat the crap out of Flava Flav.

So that's pretty much it. I now have a lot of games on my PSP. Go me.

What Color Would You Pick?

I've had my car for about a year now but it's gotten a couple minor deformations since I started paying for it (one was my fault, the other was my stepfather's) and I went to a car repair/paint shop to see how much it would cost to repaint the hood and they guy told me I could either paint the hood itself or the entire car for less than $200 more. I'm not entirely sure if I want to go through with it yet, but in case I do, I just want to know what you think I should paint my car or if I should keep it the same/similar color (I've told my friends that if I got it painted I might go with white or silver but they think its current color fits well).

Here's a picture of it from the day of purchase:

well starting to lose hope...

its been well over a week since the dogs disappeared. my parents have kinda lost hope of finding them. we searched everywhere. we followed their trail to the compound next to ours. its still under construction so no one lives there but construction workers.

after asking around everyone seems to mostly point to one worker. he kept doing weird things like sending us on wild goose chases and calling us giving false alarms that he found the dogs, so we called the police. when the cops came he started saying suspicious things like "give me two days and i'll get them back". we haven't heard from him since. we went and searched the pet stores in case someone already sold them.

then our next door neighbor's dog mysteriously dissapeared too a few days ago. we found him today tied up in an abandoned house nearby without food or water. he was still alive thank god.

dad is starting to think someone is stealing the dogs around so he can break in our or the neighbor's house. even though they're not guard dogs they'll still cause a ruckuss if someone tries to break-in.

just hope everything turns out ok.

i'm not upset, i mean yeah i'm sad the dogs are gone, but i'm just thankful things could have been much worse.

Shiba is the only dog we have now. I'm gonna make sure to take good care of her now.

A book a week
Starting this Monday my goal, no my task, is going to be to read one book a week every week. For an overall total of lets say 50 books a year for simple math and gives us a two week break. Now my goal is to read 500 SF books. Sooo I've got at least 10 years to go before I hit that mark -_- Which makes F the 30 year old SF something >_> I'm going to be keeping track of what books I read when starting Monday when I start the next book.

Merry Christmas to Gamespot!
Just wanted to say merry Christmas to all the Gamespot peeps. Pink Robots for all!

I would write about my gaming goings on here but there really isn't very much to say. Playing through the Pirate of the Caribbean DLC on LittleBigPlanet is about all I've done. . Pretty good by the way, the last level in particular is a highlight.

So yeah...nothing much to report...err...look a festive cat!

Don't think Kat has used that one yet

Anyway, Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas and All That Stuff

I was working on a blog that reviewed the things that happened around here this year, but it was so depressing that I scrapped it. I'll just say it's been one hell of a bad year, and I really hope the next is better. No sense in dwelling on past events when I have the future ahead of me. I will take over the world this year. Join my army now and perhaps you will be spared during my conquest. O_O

First off, I need my armies to pillage and plunder, so I have war funds. Which I will actually end up using on games instead of outfitting my army. Especially since 2010 is going to be The Year of the RPG. I need lots of money. Out of the 46 RPGs listed there, I want at least 29 of them for sure. =O

My Wii had to be sent away for repairs, because the GPU was screwed. This is the second time it's messed up, and I no longer had a warranty. I went after Nintendo until they agreed to repair it for free though. No way was I paying $75 to repair something when I barely even play it. Why is it screwing up when I only play it once a year and leave it unplugged the rest of the time? >_>

Here's my silly little Christmas tree and my gifts to myself. There were no games I really wanted this month, so I splurged on anime. I also bought myself the box sets of Spice and Wolf (season 1) and Baccano! but they haven't arrived yet. Oh, and here's Nintendo R.O.B. He's ready for Christmas too. xD

Happy holidays to everyone! I'm probably going to vanish over to my mom's on Christmas morning and then spend the night up at their cabin. Then we're doing a Christmas dinner with some family on Saturday. I should be back after that though. You guys pile up some gifts under my tree for me so I can open them when I get home. O_O

Merry Christmas!
I am not planning on being around all that much tomorrow or Friday so I thought I should post a season's greetings to everyone and wish them a happy new year! Hope you all get what you want and spend as much time with loved ones as you can.

You'd Better Bring Me A Sleighload Of Gaming Goodness And EoE Impressions!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Merry Christmas, guys. Have I ever told you how much I love garlic? Because I really do. You know, I.. I downloaded End of Eternity's battle system demo. I just wanted you to know that.

After playing though the demo on both difficulty levels, I must firstly note that the instructions may be hard to read if you don't know Japanese. Thankfully, it's not full of kanji and uses surprisingly much katakana (not as much as FFXIII, though), so I got the hang of it pretty quick. Anyways, there's also a tutorial trailer available on the Japanese PSN, so you should download that if you have some problems.

The Newcomer version is fairly easy for anyone, though -- the screen practically tells you which buttons to push. Square for target selection, X for attacking. You have a certain amount of attacks to use. Between attacks you also have the chance to push square for special actions, like jumping into the air like a gazelle with 7 guns attached to its horns or launching the enemy high up in the air so you can combo more. You can move freely, and every time you beat a bunch of enemies, you progress to another room, filled with some more enemies. And so on.

Seriously, I can't describe it better -- just go and download it, dammit. The battle system's a fun change from the usual, and pretty damn cool looking. So yeah, do check it out.

Did any of you follow JUMP Festa? There was some pretty good stuff there. Not only another lot of Vesperia DLC announcements (Raven as Heihachi, Yuri as Mitsurugi, Flynn as Chopin!?) and Last Window (Hotel Dusk 2) or Etrian Odyssey III first screens, but real news as well! In other words..

The new trailer for FFXIII Versus! Well, more like a teaser. The phrase "Real or Fantasy" lingers on the screen for a second, and then up pops the video. Noctis (main dude) stands by a highway and gets into a vehicle. Then across the screen come phrases "Work in progress" and "Revelation will come next time". Oooo, what revelation!? Also, I hope "next time" doesn't mean E3.. x.x Damn it. That's the trailer for ya, though. You weren't allowed to have cameras in there, so that's why you probably can't find the vid.

In other news! Mistwalker CEO, Final Fantasy creator, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey producer Hironobu Sakaguchi mentioned in his Mistwalker blog that the new RPG he's been teasing since March 08 will finally see daylight in March 2010! Or, at least, we'll catch a glimpse of it. Hopefully it won't be another disappointing game, like Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey. Just sayin'.

Even MORE Square news! Tetsuya Nomura, most known for producing Kingdom Hearts, was interviewed in this week's Famitsu, where he mentioned TWO new titles!

"There's a title that's yet to be shown that's progressing faster than expected," he commented on one. He didn't mention whether it's a new IP, but said: "Development is progressing smoothly. Voice recording has started." About the other, he informed that "It's not totally new, but there's one more more unannounced title. Please look forward to the announcement." How mysterious!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Anyways, that's the news for ya. Now, what's been keeping me busy? Well, besides reading books, I finished Braid! The story and ending, just.. wow. Wow! The game was simply awesome. I'll post a special blog about it next time, so please look forward to that. Also, if you've got a tenner to spare, use it on Braid.

Been playing a lot of Disgaea 3, still haven't gotten the Platinum in Katamari Forever.. Luckily, Vagrant Story will come to EUPSN today after all. as sir Ben said! Oh, speaking of him, I ordered myself a little something that's strangely similar to his avatar.

Cool, huh? Sure, it might not arrive before new year, but I'll still be in Christmas spirits at the time.

That's my blog, see y'all around and have yourself a MOTHER OF FREUD THAT HURT!! Stop with the orange launcher already!

So I feel like writing a blog...

... crazy right?

Obviously, I've not been keeping up with this site as much as I used to. There were a few games here and there that kept my attention for a good while over the past few months like Borderlands and Uncharted 2 (great games) but overall I've kinda been seperating from gaming.

I played MW2 and didn't really care for it all that much, despite its acclaim. Granted there were some good moments, but I guess I just don't like CoD games, and the multiplayer of that series has never kept me coming back for more like other titles.

Here and there I've been playing SMT: Devil Survivor which is pretty good. I should get around to playing it more, but I just haven't been in the mood. School will be starting up in a few weeks and I probably won't be playing games much at all unless Bioshock 2 takes over my mind and makes me buy and play it, which will probably happen.

Where have I been?

Well, after my website went under I created a Blogger blog and that's where all the cool kids are not going these days.

Very recently I have played PS3 online, and I've bought dozens new games since the last post.

I've still been recording walkthroughs on YouTube, but in the past weeks I have taken a break and been trophy hunting (by the way, anybody up for GTA IV Hangman's NOOSE grinds?).

I have also switched to using GameFaqs more often, as what I usually need most from GameSpot/GameFaqs these days are faqs and trophy info and GameFaqs loads much faster. GameFaqs also keeps me signed in longer for those urgent needs for quick info gatherings.

That's about it, since this is not where I blog these days. Just thought I'd inform you where I am.
I'll try to perhaps write reviews here, update my game collection and such every now and then.

If anyone wants the Unions I've been a leader of the past years, just ask me.

Achivement Unlocked!!

I'm pretty proud of both of them. This is officially the first game I've completed achievement wise, and I have to say that I enjoyed every second of it. Assassin's Creed 2 is just a great game. I still haven't gotten bored with it. I didn't look to see how many hours I logged, but it had to have been close to 20. For me, that's kind of crazy, because I rarely get enough time to sit down and play a game for more than an hour at a time. Luckily, we had a holiday not too long ago, and I was able to play for about 10 hours straight.

I will say this about the story.....they know how to keep you wanting more! As expected with everything these days, they come in 3's. They best start working on it now, because I don't want to wait 2 years I never played the first one, until the 2nd one was almost out, so I didn't have the anticipation that I would have, but this time.....I want it NAO!

10,000 is pretty sweet too. I'm always behind on these things. I know a few people with over 100,000, but they better watch out, I'm catching up! There's a few games coming out that I really want to get my hands on, so that will always help the gamescore.

Then there's Diablo 3.....I WANT! Just look at this trailer. Wow. I don't think I've been more excited for a game in a long while, but I hope they get it finished in 2010. I'm tired of waiting!

Well that's all for now. Hope your weekend is great, and you get to do whatever it is that makes you happy!

Podcasting and a new review.

Feels like it's been a while since I posted here so here's a bit of info about what's been happening with me lately.

Last week I started my third journalism job in the video game industry. I now write reviews for three websites: HookedGamers.com , GameSpot (occasionally) and now CitizenGame.co.uk as well, which is operated by popular GameSpot user dannyodwyer.

In starting at Citizen Game I've also made my first appearance on a podcast, the Citizen Gamecast. You can listen to it hereand also subscribe on iTunes if you like!

Finally, I've written a review for Lego Rock Bandwhich you can read, on CitizenGame.co.uk , here.

A Little Less Wise

This blog is kind of hard to type since I'm holding an ice pack up to my face. In case you're wondering why, I got 4 wisdom teeth removed yesterday so my face kind of hurts... a bit The surgery wasn't too bad though. I have no idea what was in the IV they hooked me up to, but I have never been that relaxed before in my life (even when I heard the ripping noise my teeth made)! It only took 10 mins. too I just really miss being able to chew solid food. It was also nothing compared to the surgery I had in Sept.

Luckily this is a great time to relax, play games, eat ice cream (which feels awesome after you've had teeth removed!), and catch up on GameSpot stuff!

-Gaming Stuff-

Now Playing: I've dug out my DS (which is still the old "fat one" by the way ) and I've started playing Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga and The World Ends With You. These are two titles from my pile of games I need to beat from last blog. I'm not far enough into The World Ends With You to offer any opinions on it, but Superstar Saga is really fun! I love the sense of humor in it

Christmas Wish List: It's Dec. 1st which means it's Christmas in 25 days (oh and my birthday in 24 )! I can't afford any new games, but my parents said they'll get me some for Christmas! I've asked for 7 games but told them they only have to get me my top 4. Here's my list:

  1. Banjo Tooie (N64)- Yes, the old Nintendo 64 version of it! I owned it a while ago but sold it. I loved the music and atmosphere in the game and would love to own it once again.
  2. Assassin's Creed II (Xbox 360) - I enjoyed the first one despite it's major flaw: repetitiveness. Based on the reviews, it seems Ubisoft got the sequel right! They need to work on the commercials though
  3. InFamous (PS3)- I've Heard nothing but good things about it!
  4. Uncharted 2 - Haven't played the first one but oh well.
  5. Batman Arkham Asylum (PS3)- Again, I've heard nothing but good things.
  6. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360)- I'm not a huge fan of shooting games but I've decided to give this one a try.
  7. Dragon Age: Origins (PS3) - It's been a while since I've played a new RPG and this one looks awesome!

You'll notice that there are more PS3 versions of games on my list than Xbox 360 games. That's only because I want to try and have an even number of games for both Also, notice there's not a single Wii game on my list. That's mostly because I can't think of any Wii games worth getting this year... 2010 should be a great year for the Wii though (new Zelda, Mario, and Metroid! ).

-Life Stuff-

I'm taking a slight break from my project this week due to the pain where my wisdom teeth use to be I thought I'd explain how my project is going so far though. I won't bore anyone with details, but if you're considering a career in Electronics, here's some of the cool stuff you get to do!

Right now my partner and I have our first circuit board made (well I did this board but my partner has to do the next one ). It started out with a schematic, and then I had to make a board layout design with a computer program. After 2 days (and lots of frustration) here's what the finished layout design looked like:

board.jpg GG's Board Layout picture by gamergirl_15

Way harder to make than it looks like

I used this to create files for the machine that actually etches, drills, and cuts out the board from a special piece of cooper. Thankfully, the instructor made an easy to use guide on how to get all the files right (otherwise I would have been totally lost). Here's my board being created by the machine:

board3.jpg Milling Machine 2 picture by gamergirl_15

board4.jpg Milling Machine 1 picture by gamergirl_15

It took the machine about 6 hours to make my board. That means I had to sit there and stare at itmake the board for 6 hours. I took the pictures above mainly out of boredom. The machine also costs about $30,000 so I'm glad I didn't break it! Once the board was finished, my instructor told me to put it in liquid tin which will help me solder components to it:

board5.jpg Tin Bath picture by gamergirl_15

My circuit board's nice relaxing "Tin Bath"

There were about a dozen warnings on the Liquid Tin bottle so I was a little scared using it. My instructor gave me gloves though. After I was done, he did one of his boards and took it out with his bare hands! All that's left is to solder the parts on to the board, then I can start testing it. It better work after all that!

So yeah, my project is slowly coming along. I still need to worry about that 40 page report once all the hands on stuff is done though.

***

My head hurts, my jaw hurts, and I really want to eat something solid! Other than that, I'm happy since it's my favourite month of the year!

Have an awesome week everyone!!

Post Top 5 Favorite Games of All-Time: Honorable Mentions Vol. 3

This is actually kind of embarrassing. I've been promising that I'll have this posted soon for the last month or so. It's actually been almost done for a while now. I just had it collecting dust in a MS Word file on my laptop. But, just this past weekend, I decided to finish it finally.

Now that the explanations are out of the way.....

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Boxart

Developer: Naughty Dog

Platform: PlayStation 3

Wow, okay. Where do I start? Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is not a game. It's an experience. It's hard to describe this game through words without sounding extremely cliched. Most of the words that come to mind right off the bat are so over-used in games media these days, that they've almost lost their original meanings altogether. Oh what the hell, I'll just use them anyways. Uncharted 2 is compelling, riveting, visceral, astounding, unbelievable, and incredible in every way possible. THERE, I DID IT. HAPPY????? Now, please excuse me while I go cut my fingers off.

Assassin's Creed 2 Boxart

Developer: Ubisoft Montreal

Platforms: PS3, Xbox 360, PC

I actually just beat Assassin's Creed 2(or as I like to call it call it, "Grand Theft Horse: Italy') yesterday, and I loved it so much that I thought I'd squeeze into this list. I was a big advocate of the first AC, which was not without it's flaws, but still was an amazing game. As the is the rule of thumb with AC1; you either loved it, or hated it. (I just happened to be on the former side) This is not the case with AC2 though. It seems that everyone loves it. So if everyone loves it, you can guess how much I love it. They virtually addressed every negative that was in AC1. The stealth mechanics could be improved a bit though. But I'm not complaining. This game reeks of awesomeness. A must buy if your a current gen console owner. "Current" is the key word here folks.

Developer: Naughty Dog

Platform: PlayStation

The Crash Bandicoot Trilogy are games that are very near and dear to me. The first Crash Bandicoot was one of my very first PlayStation games, and overall games in general. I can still play all three of them to this day and get as much enjoyment out of them that I did back in the day. It's a shame that CB has diminished to what he is today. Once Naughty Dog left the series to Eurocom and various other devs, he was never the same. RIP Crash Bandicoot.

Developer: HAL Laboratory

Platform: Nintendo Gamecube

Ahh, Super Smash Bros. Melee. A lot of fond memories with this bad boy. I remember my friends and I would stay up all night and day playing this game nonstop. It was infinitely fun. We played it from it's release, all the way up until Brawl's release(also a good game). Which is quite a long time if you think about it.

Developer: Team Ico

Platform:PlayStation 2

I shouldn't have to explain myself on this one. If you've never heard or played it before, then you should probably just kill yourself right now. Because neither me, nor anyone else can help you. And that's that.

___________________________

So comes the end of my Top 5 Favorite Games of All-Time list that I started back in June. It certainly took long enough to finish. I hope it was as fun to read as it was for me to write. Actually....it wasn't that fun to write. I just said that cause your suppose to say stuff like that when you finish writing something.

I can't promise I'll have my next blog series started anytime soon (Games That Scare The **** Out of Me). But I promise that I haven't forgotten about it. Oh, before I forget, I just recently found out that a frequent of the PS3 forum, Furi-Kun, was banned. It's quite a shame. He was one of the more productive members in the GS forum community. His misplaced love for Haze was his defining characteristic. RIP Furi-Kun.

Level 50

Yep, that took forever. If I had kept at it like I had and not dropped off I could be level 58 at least. (Judging from the fact 2ndwonder passed me in the upper 40s and he's 56 now. >_>) (And dropped a couple levels from mods. >________>)

Anyway that's fine. I have actually started to be here more, but just in Decker's UCB mostly. OT is pretty tough going these days, I try to show up in the regular forum and RC there, but like I said it's tough these days. >__> So that's pretty much it, glad you people still read this.

Threequels

Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Assassin's Creed II.

All three games are better than their previous counterparts. They've all embellished in some way. It's especially nice for me, someone who's busy as hell with school and work, to finally get off the gaming shniiide and play something other than Halo and Guitar Hero. I know there were many other great games out there this year--I didn't necessarily have to wait for these three. But I'm glad I did.

I just finished the campaign in MW2 this morning. Spectacular ending, in my opinion. It no doubt left the door open for a Modern Warfare 3. The first few missions were great, then it kind of dragged on several missions after that. But, towards the end, things got crazy.
And while campaign was good, online play is even better. I'm not that great--still a little rusty from playing Halo online. Yeah, I'll try to reload but I'll throw a grenade instead. That sort of thing. I'm really digging the new kill streaks and weapons. Also, I find the maps to be even better than in the first game.
I haven't played much of it, but from what I have, Special Ops is a really sweet mode. I'm glad they've included some old missions from the first Modern Warfare.

Left 4 Dead 2 is much of the same as the first game, but it has a significant addition that I love to death: the katana. It's pretty much the only weapon I use. Yeah, I know, it's not the ideal weapon against chargers or boomers, but I find myself using it a good 95% of the time. As always, it's a blast to play with friends. I just can't get over how damn fast the zombies are. One minute it's quiet, and the next thing you know... You can't move because there's a horde of them down your pants. It's insane.

Last, and certainly not least, Assassin's Creed II. My bold prediction for game of the year (maybe a little too bold) is holding up very nicely. It's the game the first installment should've been. No repetition, and no frustration. It was too hard to do missions in the first game with guards all over you. Now there's a desynchronization thing that stops your mission automatically to let you try again. The buttons are a little stiff, and the story is still ambiguous, but it's an all around amazing game.

So for those of you on my Xbox LIVE friend list, you'll be seeing me playing mostly these three games for quite a while. It should hold me out until... Ahhh hell, what's the next big blockbuster game coming out? I don't even know.
