Demon's Souls...100 hours and counting

I can't believe this, I haven't put this much time into one game since final fantasy 7\final fantasy tactics. I am so addicted to this game It's hard to think the time has gone by this fast. I have 2 characters, one melee, one magic and the game is very different for both of them, but the PVP aspect is what is keeping me hooked, I have over 400 multiplayer sessions (mostly invasions), it's just too much fun! Here's hoping for Demon's Souls 2, it has sold past Atlus' expectations from what I've heard so a sequel should be inevitable.

Whats Danny Doing #2

Oh Hai,

I've been a busy boy of late. Whats that? I should compartmentalize these events into a list? Sure!

Raised over £600 for children in Need.
The great Citizen Game community banded together to play games throughout the night of Children in Need, raising over £600 for somthing they probably would have been doing anyway. Horah!

Wrote a Modern Warfare 2 Review
9.0, still loving the multiplayer.

Started a Forum on CitizenGame
Eventually I got around to it. Already saves some cash from the deals in our "Bargain Hunter" section, so it was worth the dev time already.

Recorded a few Podcasts
We have the formula down to a tea now. 45 minutes every week. The first every week too, available from 9:30 Monday Morning.

Bought a new TV!
My projecter exploded the day after the gameathon. Perfect excuse to buy a 42 inch 1080p HDTV.

Other Games I've been playing:
DJ Hero - fun, but got it for free.
AssCreed2 - fun, but stupid story
Left4Dead2 - Far better than the first. Refined.
CrossFingers, Beneath a Steel Sky, Minigore, Doodlejump (all on iPhone)

Everything else is cool. Work is going great, going home for 2 weeks at Christmas and recording some fantastic CitizenGame content in the run up to Christmas. I might post somthing here in the lead up to Jesus day, but for now, thats what Dannys doing.

Persian Frustrations

Thanks to my friend Al, I was able to get Prince of Persia for the 360, and this weekend, I've managed to finish it.

It is quite simply, one of the most frustrating and infuriating games I have ever played. One hell of a disappointment. And to top it off, I bought the DLC when it was on sale a few weeks back, before actually getting the game... *sigh* so I have even more disappoints to suffer through with this heap, at least for a couple of hours from what I've read on that content. I'll have to write something about it eventually, but I can safely say it's my least favorite Prince of Persia game, even lower than Warrior Within. And yeah, I liked the Dreamcast one better than this, so... take that as you may. If I was the controller tossing type, can hell, I came close to doing so, I'd be out of controllers for just about every console I own.

Oh, if art alone made a game good. Not in this case.

SonicHomeboy's Vlog: Thanksgiving 2009

Hey all! I finally did another video blog! Two parts to be exact. I even gave the annotation editor a try, and it's pretty nice. You'll see what I mean when you watch them. So here they are. You may have to turn up your speakers to hear me. I know I should speak up with these vlogs. Also, it was frustrating trying to upload them. Part of it has to do with my family's internet connection. It takes a long time to upload stuff. Oh well. I would if using another video converter besides Windows Movie Maker would do the trick. Anyway, here they are.

Part 1
Part 2

POST VLOG

I'm now coughing rather harshly, but that happened when I woke up this morning. I'm going to be taking Mucinex when I'm back in school. If the cough doesn't let up by Wednesday, I'll have to go to the school's infirmary to see what they can come up with.

Anyway, here are the links I promised in the video starting with Spryo Gyra.

Spyro Gyra - Old San Juan

That's the song that I was referring to. It was so awesome hearing it live. Another thing I forgot to mention in the video was when the saxophonist played both the alto and soprano at the same time in the middle of one of their newer songs. It was amazing! Best $10 spent for this concert!

And here is the drawing I did for ebbderelict.

The Alien

Glad you like it, ebbderelict! Expect it to be shipped in the mail sometime soon! I promise!

Anyway, I think that's all I have to say right now.

Hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving. I'll do my best with the semester coming to a close. Expect a Christmas vlog soon!

Thanks for reading and watching!

Until next time!

Why BATMAN is my Indisputable Game of the Year!

Let's not forget, everyone was super sceptical on this Batman videogame before it came out. There hasn't been a single good 3D Batman game. There hasn't been a single great superhero game (Spiderman* games are only good for the swinging). So, BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM had a lot going against it. How will the game keep true to the Batman character? Will the gadgets have lame gameplay? Would the combat system be a generic beat-em-up? Would the story suck? Who's ever even heard of Rocksteady Studios?

NO ADDED JUNK

Thankfully, it was the exact opposite of those questions. BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM is a tight experience, with game design that sticks stringently to its goals. There is no Batmobile driving sequence. There are no Quick Time Events. There is no co-op. There is no multiplayer. There is no big Gotham city open-world where you do side-quests to pad out more hours. Rocksteady was confident in its single-player campaign, to not have to add any obvious filler.

That's major confidence from a fairly unknown developer studio.

I'M THE GODDAMN BATMAN!

So, what should a Batman game be? A platformer? A brawler? A detective game? Or, be like other clever developers, and dip into all those genres? Not many games combine different gameplay genres, or when they do, they're bloated. There's been only one game that I remember that did it well, which was BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL. Most games just rely on what they're good at, and stick to that. I think it's called the "if it's not borken, don't fix it" paradigm that has led to the most generic games ever.

BATMAN: AA isn't that. The developers put excellent gameplay that defines every aspect of the character. Due to this, everything about the game feels fresh. From the insanely refreshing and satisfying freeflow combat system (Batman's the best at martial arts, and it shows) to the exploration of the world with your grappling hook (he's gotta perch like a bat, too) and other geekgasm gadgets (no Bat credit card), you know you're playing a Batman game.

The Batman combat is just genius. Instead of combo mashing, every single face button is a tactic. Little input = big output. You must be an economical businessman with your button presses, especially when it comes to the Combat Challenges. Is it the only game where there isn't a single-button-mashing combo? The variety of moves leads into the animations, with some of the most beautiful mo-cap work I've witnessed from a protagonist. Animations never get old, because they hardly ever repeat. They're dynamic. This again is a huge achievement, to not have "animation fatigue" even in this HD era of having hundreds of animation cycles.

Stealth gameplay could've been screwed up so bad. How many good stealth staple games are there really? I have to give props to Rocksteady for making the most universally simple and elegant stealth system that anyone can pick up. This is the new wave of aggressive stealth. The artificial intelligence is great, which allows you for sandbox SPLINTER CELL-like gameplay where you're toying around with the enemies, and then snapping up the last enemy who's peeing his pants. When you're on a gargoyle, you feel so Batman it's creepy. SPLINTER CELL CONVICTION is also going along this new wave of aggressive stealth (which is resonating a lot more with people who've always wanted to try these games), so let's see what grandpa Sam can muster up. Wait-and-pounce stealth is dead.

Character gameplay even comes down to how Batman never kills, and so never clashes with the overall story unlike in UNCHARTED (let's face it, Drake is Marcus Phoenix in a half-tuck, and a superhero because of his unbelievable jumps of saving grace). To me, it didn't feel like the game was ripping off other games' specific minutia. Sure, if you're reductionist, you could say it's a mix of SPLINTER CELL, TENCHU, METROID but it never plays like one of those games. That's a huge accomplishment and shows Rocksteady are confident in creating Batman-centric gameplay. I want to see enemies' heartbeat in SPLINTER CELL now. I want to glide in every game now. Also, it's beaten TENCHU in the grappling hook department and is making SPLINTER CELL run for its money.

LET ME TELL YOU A STORY

Of course, I wouldn't forget the excellent storytelling. Notice, I didn't say the word "story". It's still a great plot, of Batman being stuck in a prison for 1 night with the Rogue's Gallery, but what shines is the multiple venues of storytelling used. There is soft storytelling through Joker on the intercom or on TVs and the audio interview tapes. Then there's the typical hard storytelling through cutscenes.

Hold on though, there's a new type of storytelling too. Non-linear storytelling. This was experimented with PRINCE OF PERSIA 2008, but felt disjointed at times. Here, you're going from one part of the island to the other, and while the game's missions are not linear, there is still interactional dialogue and reactions. For example, after the Medical Pavillion mission, you can go back and find out that the Doctors haven't escaped but instead have boarded themselves up behind desks! They stay there until the end of the game! Nearly all of the characters give context-dependent dialogue too, at certain points of the game. All the personnel of the island are free to talk to, at any point of the game, so for example Aaron Cash can cheer you on to finally beat Joker when Joker's "party" starts. Because of such reactionary dialogue, it can make the Arkham Island come alive no matter how dreary it is, and showcases that Paul Dini can also write games.

Blah, blah, ALWAYS WITH THE HERO SPEAK!

Now, I won't say it's the most original game ever, but for this year, I feel it sticks out against the crowd. For such a bold game, it also excels on execution which MIRROR'S EDGE (the most original game of recent times) and other original IPs couldn't be. It is in the very rare club of a first game being nigh-on perfect on Day 1 release, like last year's DEAD SPACE. There is no need for a sequel, or any improvements needed other than very superficial ones like more bosses. It also helps that it's the best superhero and licensed game ever made. Riddick, you now have a friend.

I'M IN CONTROL OF THE ASYLUM!

All the reviews of the Batman game have been very favourable. The only negatives about the game are things that are very nitpicky. Batman's figure covering a large part of the screen (there is a non-Batman centred camera). Yes, the Titan bosses repeat a couple of times, and yes, there aren't 20 types of enemies, but this is par for the course with nearly every action-adventure game ever made. Plus, as long as they're fun, I don't see the criticism of some good repetition. One that everyone can agree on is that the final boss battle is shallow but it does show how unpredictable Joker really is. BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM is so damn good, people are finding it hard to find legitimate criticism. Usually, with triple A games, you can bash the character gameplay or story, but here it's just damn good.

You also have to remember, a great game has to be as great for newcomers. It should be as pick-up-and-play as MARIO. Because of the excellent controls and simplified systems, BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM happens to be that. BATMAN: AA is definitely up there with MARIO games in terms of being accessible for everyone. Most of the games this year can have very specific audiences, like all of the shooters. Shooters are not every girl's best friend.

THE LONGEST JOURNEY

While most games up their pacing by putting more variety through newer locations or "palette-cleansing" gameplay (turret sections, vehicle sections), BATMAN: AA goes about it by completely changing the level design of Arkham Island at times. Rocksteady didn't feel the need to up the variety by letting you go to Gotham city (even though, you sort of do at one spoilerific point). Enemies appear where they weren't before, like snipers or crazed inmates. Poison Ivy's vines blocking away paths. Scarecrow, period. Batman's armour and face takes a ton of damage throughout the course of the game (for once, it's not a gimmick!). Because of such pacing and setpieces, the non-linear world never gets boring through the amount of backtracking you'll do. There's always something to look forward to.

Thanks to the magnificent pacing and every single moment being memorable, the game ends just at the right moment. So, while you might spend 15-20 hours with the game, it feels you've been through a lot with the characters and the island. This is one night you and Batman won't ever forget.

OVER? IT HASN'T EVEN BEGUN!

Because it stands out amongst the pack of games this year and had the MOST TO PROVE, this is easily the Game of the Year.

No sequelitis.

Totally new gameplay, like the freeflow combat where animations never recycle.

Most fun stealth gameplay ever.

Non-linear backtracking that's always interesting.

Great storytelling.

And that it's damn memorable! Every moment in the game was given love and care, from Harley Quinn's office to the Riddler.

Everyone loves the game, which is not something you can say for a game franchise other than MARIO. This is a great game for people not privy to Batman's loving cape. The best games are the ones where everyone finds something to love, and for 2009, it's BATMAN ARKHAM ASYLUM, in my opinion.

My Yearly Thanksgiving Blog

Hello All,

As you may have noticed I barely go on this sight anymore and rarely play video games at all, so this is kind of a super late farewell that probably won't ever get read. I've had a lot of good memories thanks to this sight that I won't forget and if anyone from back in the day wants to hit me up feel free. I'd be down to play some Xbox Live if I'm ever on my GT is PossessedCow. Well Farewell I doubt this'll get read but whatever. See you guys later.

Dragon Age Origins + Assassin's Creed 2 done (No Spoilers)

Finished Dragon Age Origins (360) over the weekend. I played as a Human Noble and it was a blast. I was a good guy so I think I got a good ending and everyone was my ally. Very satisfying ending for me. The writing is superb and the voice acting is even more impressive. They got a lot of the same actors from Uncharted 2 which was kinda cool. I'm just really impressed with how developed the world is and how much thought was put into all my party members and NPCs. I don't think I need to say more other than this is a must play and one of my fave RPGs in this generation. I plan on playing as the other origins when I have time. It should be interesting to see how the world unfolds when I choose different dialogue options. Btw, this game probably has the longest credits roll in gaming history. Soooo many people were involved, wow...

Also finished Assassin's Creed 2 (360) this week. What an amazing experience. Ubisoft really improved upon everything over the original and thensome. I loved the original AC and this sequel beats it in both gameplay and story. The story actually unfolds in a similar way to the GTA franchise except with better pacing. Ezio is a really likeable guy and his story is way more developed than Altair's.

Speaking of AC1, AC2 is a direct sequel in every sense of the word. The game literally opens up with the final shot from the first game. It's pretty cool for us AC1 fans cuz AC1's cliffhanger ending is instantly resolved. Yay. There's also a ton of callbacks and information that AC1 fans will enjoy. I think if you didn't play or finish AC1, you might be missing out on a few bits of information and names that pop up. AC2 stands well on its own but people who played AC1 will definitely appreciate the story and revelations way more. And boy, the revelations are awesome.

The gameplay is incredibly addictive as one mission just keeps popping up after another. There's also a diverse amount of sidequests that kept me playing. The combat is also very satisfying and incredibly fun since you can switch weapons and upgrade your armor/outfits. The final armor looks pretty damn sessy. The collectables also make sense and actually help you and affect the main game. They're no longer simply achievement/trophy hunter type stuff. It's all really well implemented. I'm only two achievements away from getting the full 1000.

But not everything was perfect, the game has some minor glitches which happened a few times. They're not game-breaking stuff but they're somewhat distracting. The game also has some janky facial animation for a few characters (Lucy has it worst), but most are fine. These minor issues probably kept this game from beating Batman: AA and Uncharted 2 from my personal GOTY. But overall, this was an amazing experience with a lot of fun conspiracy stuff and the world is really well done. Must play for everyone (including people who didn't like AC1). Loved it.

I also just got God of War Collection (PS3) and I'm playing it to see all the enhancements. Looks pretty damn good. I haven't played it in a long time so there are many things that surprised me. Still awesome and still fun. I'll probably have more detailed impressions when I dig into GoW2 in the collection after I beat GoW1 all over again. Oh yea, lotsa boobies too, lol...

R.I.P. To A Faithful Companion Feb. 2007 - Nov. 2009

So, it finally happened. Actually it happened last week but I haven't had the stomach to really write about it until now.

The worst part is that I knew this was coming. I was just too excited about the end of 2009 game releases as well as the ones coming in Q1 2010 so it was only just a matter of time.

People tell me to be happy that at least I got to play MW2 before it crapped the bed but I'm not sure I can take the optimistic point of view on this. It sucks that I got to play MW2 because now I know what I'm missing. My girlfriend never got to play L4D2 and while she's upset at least she doesn't sit around knowing what she's missing. Her life hasn't changed all that much. Mine has.

So, I'm going to be sending it off in the next couple of days and I guess I'll just wait. How long does it take? I imagine most of you have experienced this at least once so I was wondering on average how long I should expect my 360 to be gone. I'm guessing having it back by Christmas is probably too much to ask for but I'll hold out hope until one of you just crushes my dream.

Without a gaming console in the house (with the exception of my NES/SNES machine) I wonder what the hell I'll fill my time with. It's not like I've got a ton of money laying around the house where I can just buy a PS3 and we'll be getting a Wii for Christmas for the kids so at least I'll have something in a month or so.

Looks like my only solution is that I'll just have to get back into WoW. It's cheap and time consuming and at least for the time being my computer still works.

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying what they're playing.

Take care and happy gaming!

Which is hotter?

Jessica Chobot, the girl that licked a PSP and was made famous by it. GS is having some extremely weird issue where the picture only shows up in a spoiler o.O

***SPOILER***

Personally, I dont find this picture attractive at all. In fact, judging by this picture, I dont find her attractive at all. I really dont know how this picture could possible make her famous. I even think this picture is better and its not even of a real girl.

Now, THIS is a far more appealing picture, not only is it done about 10x better, the girl is also way better looking!

Now I dont know who did it first, maybe this girl copied Jessica, maybe it was the other way around or perhaps it was neither. Either way, this picture wins hands down. Not sure why the expression is 'hands down' though..

I always thought it was ridiculous that Jessica got so famous and this girl didnt. Although to be fair, she was in a Magezine about Americas top 100 interesting people, or soething like that. She was in a book for being one of the 100 most interesting Teens in America. I dont know if this picture had anything to do with anything shes done but considering Jesica's picture did, I hope hers did too!

But Jessica isnt all bad, as demonstrated in these lovely picture.

So I guess it was (in my opinion) just bad picture with the PSP.

Still, Katy takes the cake.

Surely that must have gotten her attention, shes been in other magazines and maybe this is why. Eh, who knows. Its not really important, just something on my mind.

After The Storm

Hey people. Hope you're doing well.

Well, it seems the Modern Warfare 2 storm has passed, leaving behind it shattered records and broken egos. Do any of you realize what happened just a short week ago? The world of video games made its presence felt, while Modern Warfare 2 sold 4.7 million copies in one day, with sales of $310 million, which made it the biggest entertainment launch in history. One. Day. And that's just counting sales from Canada, the US and the UK. No matter if you like the game or not, gamers everywhere should be proud of this accomplishment, as it sheds a very bright spotlight on the medium.

Naturally, I was one of the 4.7 million who snagged a copy upon its release. I spent the first 3 days playing online and, to be quite honest, I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. Don't get me wrong, the structure of the multiplayer is absolutely incredible, with the multitude of perks and guns you earn while leveling up, and the vast selection of modes to play in. However, I feel that, for someone as horrible as me in online multiplayer games, there is no way I can get better. Now, I won't go throw the blame on snipers or campers or hackers or whatnot. The blame is solely on myself. You guys out there are so good that even if I played for 24 hours non-stop for the next 2 weeks, I would still be unable to compete at your level. Also, I do not have the patience or will to stick around and try to get better. I don't find dying every 3 seconds enjoyable, so I just decided to take my abysmal kill / death ratio and go home.

As for Modern Warfare 2's single player experience, there were some highs and some lows throughout the very short campaign. I played on Normal and finished it just over the 6-hour mark. To sum up the campaign without spoiling anything, let's just say that the story is very confusing and ambiguous, the plot is non-existent and the voice actors are horrible, while some of the scenes are brilliantly executed and breathtaking. I've played some games which had much better storylines and voice actors *coughUncharted2cough*. The other mode in the game, called Special Ops, allows you to replay certain missions from COD 4 and MW 2. The 2-player missions are fun to execute for the most part and add another layer to the online play, although I would've settled for co-op during the campaign over this.

Would I call Modern Warfare 2 a disappointment? Not at all, since I pretty much knew what to expect from the guys at Infinity Ward. However, I did let the hype bug bite me in the butt a little too hard. I'm not disappointed, but I'm not thoroughly satisfied either.

Now, onto Assassin's Creed II and Left 4 Dead 2. Oh, and would you guys be interested in the return of DBoy's Den? Just throwing that out there...

Later!

stupity always makes you pay a price.

During the past days I received one of the worst news I could receive as a gamer: For a reason that I want to keep untold for now, my XBOX 360 Live AND console were banned. With this, my experience will be limited to local playing which is ok by now, but I certainly hope that things get well soon enough.

What I did was stupid and certainly deserves what I received. I hope you guys can be patient about my disapearence from XBOX live. WHen I have the mood to talk about it I will.

I have though about other possibilities since the only option is getting a new console, but there comes the question: Which one and when? A PS3 or a 360?

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing right and enjoying such a great game as Modern Warfare 2. Due to what happened, I delayed that game from my list along with L4D2 since I wouldn't enjoy its multiplayer advantages making the a "waste of money" but I still can enjoy single player games like Assassin's Creed and The Saboteur for the remaining of the year... I have to see the positive thing about it...

Have a great day!

I keep playing BOrderlands and I think I have another game for the GOTY running. I would call it "FallOut 3's small brother"... Yeah, it is that good!

More details in a further blog.

QUick question: WOuld you mind if I make one of those "My life with..." blogs about Metal... because Brutal Legend certainly inspired me!

As I look over this list, I see several games I would be ok with selling off as well as several games that I simply must play as soon as possible (Metal Gear Solid 4, Shadow of the Colossus, Odin Sphere, Dragon Quest VIII, Secret of Mana). Feel free to post your comments on the games that I have never played or are still sealed. I'll do my best to explain why I haven't played these games. Also, go ahead and post your backlog list if you have one. Now if you'll excuse me, I have several games I need to get back to playing. None of which are on this list! LOL

AION : Tower of Boring Eternity

AION

As a beta tester, I saw many issues with the game that needed to be addressed but were not focused on or referred to as minimal importance at the time. Sure, no problem, I could understand that, it was beta, there was more tweaking to do than address the concerns of the "beta testers". I ignored most problems due to it being beta. I mean AION had glorious other things like eye candy graphics, cool races, elaborate battleground Fortress Claiming PVP, and wow .. oh my god, we got WINGS! But was that enough to satisfy the avid gamer?

Alas, release has been hell:

(1) GAME CRASHES - Yes, I know, all games crash, it happens! But it happens A LOT to quite a few people and I defintiely do not lack in computer equipment either. My system is very up to date and can handle quite a bit.

(2) GOLD SPAMMERS - Wow, need I say more. Korean based game is expected to have gold farmers I'm sure, but this is by far the WORST gold spamming in all the 12 years I have dealt with games. I literally have to open my BLOCK list to UNBLOCK old spammers so that I can add the daily new spammers!

(3) NCSOFT ANNOUCEMENTS EVERY 5 MINUTES - Yes we know and understand that you are not suppose to click on the links posted in the chat channels! NCSoft needs to stop spamming this announcement every 5 minutes as it goes across the middle of your screen. We suggested they put a private email to everyone (and I can deal with email everyday) once a day with this information instead of spamming it. This is just as bad as the gold spammers!

(4) REPEATABLE QUESTS - This gives the word "grinding" a totally new meaning! If you enjoy questing, this game is NOT for you. You gain new quests as you enter new areas, but then after you complete them, that's it! All that is left is repeatable quests doing the same thing you just did 10 more times!! This makes leveling extremely boring!

(5) CHAT CHANNELS BUGGED - This was the last straw for me. We had heard about it going around, but just recently got hit with it. This bug disables all of your chat channels except guildchat or say. This means the Looking For group Channel is out of your reach and now, those quests that ARE NOT repeatable and require groups to complete, are out of your reach as well. The most important channel is the LFG channel (because their LFG Window is completely useless already) and now we cannot even get a group.

(6) NO TECH SUPPORT FROM NCSOFT - A full forum dedicated to Technical Support is raided with bug reports, issues, pleeds of spam blocking, and endless posts from disappointed PAID subscribers and not a single technical support response. The admin's reasons for not responding?? Get this people, they said "We have issues from our system with admin posts on the forums so we cannot post until this is fixed ..." it's been how long now?? And why do you still have this forum up? Better yet ... why hasn't this been made a priority to get fixed NCSOFT can fix the other issues we are having?

So all that glory I focused on in beta, I have since pushed aside. In fact, all that positive I could find in other games WITHOUT all the negative.

In all out honesty, my complete recommendation is DO NOT PURCHASE AION! This advice will help you SAVE YOUR MONEY and your sanity!

... as for the Wings ... all can say is

"The Bounty Hunter can fly too ... here I come SW: TOR!"

Beatles Rock Band: I Want You (She's So Frugal)

I really want the Beatles Rock Band - but my wife has vetoed the purchase for now - And I Love Her. Next month is my Birthday so it should be A Hard Days Night or more until I get it. I told her You Never Give Your Money. She said if Baby You're a Rich Man, you could Get Back and get it Any Time At All. So unfortunately, I Can't By Me Love right now, until I pay off the Taxman. So, I'll try not to Cry Baby Cry or Twist And Shout and will work on Fixing A Hole in my roof that sprang up again - post Hurricane Ike. Until then I'll feel like I'm a Loser every time I see you guys playing it on Live. Hopefully, I'll get it before When I'm Sixty-Four. But if you're married like me you know how it is - She Said She Said.

So there I am...

...its's about 11:58pm, and I'm standing in line at GameStop waiting to get a copy of Madden10 If only my 2K5 brethren could see my shameful buckling...

Surprisingly, I've been playing the game for the last few weeks since it released, and with a few minor hic-ups here and there that urged me to return the game... I'm still some what... enjoying Madden. Being that I have very little else to play could be a major factor in this, but I rather continue praising something I've become so accustom to bashing. This year's addition actually feels like a "new addittion" to the aging series. Besides the standard roster update (which displays some interesting team/player stats) other areas of Madden are finally shining thru. Character animations and gameplay being the biggest highlights for me. If you are familiar with 2K football games, these advancements are some what old news, but highly welcomed in the Madden universe.

As for actually reviewing the game anytime soon... I'm not sure what's my problem! It's been awhile since I actually sat down and wrote anything about videogames. Matt Hazard, Prototype, WoW, Red Faction, Madden, Batman, and a few other gems have been keeping me nice and occupied. I just haven't really been the social type about it. Of course there is the usual life islike a box of chocolatesspiel I could toss around... but I'll be honest... recently breaking up from a 4-year relationship has kind of put me in a nasty funk.
More or less, its been a draining experience. A new one for me, but mighty taxing nonetheless. Its been nearly 2 months now and I'm finally feeling the infection course through my system... which helps by not having any of her stuff around. Living together is something I thought would have bonded us better, and maybe it did work, but the whole moving out routine was real unpleasant. Besides not sleeping in my own bed for about a month (all hail the mighty couch of comfort) she still tends to call me every few days, which is mind-boggling, but it allows the infection to linger. And I don't like that.

Falling in love with someone is easy, especially if you allow them into every aspect of your life. Yet, falling OUT of love with someone is something I've only heard stories about, usually associated with failed marriages. My situation has veryfew complications... no kids, no law binding contracts/documents, no shared possessions, no need for contact. At least I like to think that last one is easy to overcome
With problems bouncing around months ago, hell, even a few years ago... its safe to say not all things were destined for church bells and white pickett fences. It hurts realizing something like that was apparent long ago, but never really addressing ituntil just recently adds a heafty amount of salt to the wound. I always asked that communication would be our strongest quality, and surprisingly it turned out being the Achiles heel between us. Which is pretty ironic in my eyes. Now that we've seperated, she wants to "talk" and be "friendly".

What a crock of sh!t.

Now its just me and a bunch of sour memories. And my cat Jinger... I've become THAT dude

On a positive note, instead of going around sobbing about lost time, I've been trafficking my neighborhood as much as possible with summer coming to a close. Its been a little bite to my wallet (which is foolish of me to think I can afford) but the social scene has been a great way to air my thoughts out. It sucks seeing young couples frollic about happily gazing into eachother's eyes, but I'm getting over that silly crap. I only wish things could have went down smoother in my failed relationship... yet the welcoming glow of someone new and enticing seems like the perfect cure... until I realize thats the worst possible way to approach someone "new". I don't want a new lover anytime soon, much less someone to help me rebound. The things I've learned about myself and what I desire from a partner is nothing to scoff at. What I feel now sucks @ss, but at least the lessons I've picked up along the way will pay their dues when I share the word"love" with another.

Oh well... summer is coming to a close, football is right around the corner, financials and career crap is neutral, and I'm finally breathing a little easier. No drama, less worries, and plenty of room for better days... I'd have to say things could be a lot worse, so I'm all-around appreciative for what I got and how I got it. Hopefully all my fellow gamers had a decent summer... I'd hate to think of the best time of the year bogging down others like my lame @ss
