My Desert Island Five

So... I felt like sharing my CURRENT (it's ever changing) Desert Island Five

1. In Absentia - Porcupine Tree
- I never get tired of this band. In Absentia is such a solid album. It has everything and it's always fresh. One of the best albums of this century.

2. Euphoria Morning - Chris Cornell
- Yet another solid album. This album demonstrates Cornell's full voice in this Jeff Buckley inspired unique album.

3. Soft Parade - The Doors
- In my oppinion, the most under-rated Doors album. I just love every song on it because the style is constantly changing, and it includes the epic "Soft Parade"

4. Down By The Old Mainstream - Golden Smog
- A classic alt-country album featuring members of Wilco, Jayhawks, Soul Asylum, and many more. It's a beautiful demonstration of "with our powers combined". There is never a dull moment in this beautiful piece of work.

5. Low End Theory - A Tribe Called Quest
- By far my favorite Hip Hop album. It's so fresh and smooth. The album covers many crucial topics, especially fraud in the music industry. I can't get enough of it.

Yeah, so that's my list now, but it will change.

This New Stuffs?

Ok so someone tell me what the deal is with this. First of all... I have written so many reviews in the past and rated so many albums/artists. How come i have the rating of the characteristics of the Def Lep drummer? That's an insult on its own... So whats the deal?

Thats all for now, I know it was a pointless piece of crap that you don't care about but do I care if you care? No. So shut up. I was just testing this bull.

Gasolineros Rock/Pop

With the first song, you are drawn into the Gasolineros' album Nash Point. They are foreign and popular in the UK and Australia... but they have an alt-country edge. Nobody knows about them here... I AM SPREADING THE WORD. I can't really describe them. They are your basic acousticish sounding "folk-rock" band. They're just... good. I know that's not very helpful or specific. Just give these guys a chance/sample. You can find them on CD Baby.

The entire album is an extraordinary ride for the ears. The songs start to blend into each other. I normally consider this to be a bad thing, however its very nice the way this occurs. The best way to describe this album is by compairing it to a lullaby. The music weaves through all fibers of existance and hits every nerve. The emotional quality shines and Billy's voice fits smack dab into the beautiful guitar work and melodic piano. Adore is a well crafted must have for anyone who loves a nice peaceful form of escapism through music.

Piece of Cake Mudhoney
""
Mudhoney is a must have, and so is this album. The Grunge era is all about weird rebellious crazy attitudeness, and Piece Of Cake fits musically. It drones on and the vocals are shakey and loud noises poor out while creative and interesting guitar riffs ease out of your speakers. The vocals are perfect grunge, and although at times annoying, they fit perfectly with the era and they sound awesome once you get used to it. The music is brilliant, and that is not an exageration. The way music is played with in this album is beyond any compairison. The best I can compair the sound to is that of Wellwater Conspiracy's.

Bayleaf Stone Gossard
""
Stone Gossard, although recognized in his area/age of expertise, is not a name most people would recognize. He has provided many bands with beautiful and creative rythms, and now he goes solo for his album 'Bayleaf'. It is absolute brilliance. It is flowing with emotion and extremely creative guitar riffs. This album reveals peace, lust, and unsettled desire. Highly recommended for anyone who just likes a nice artistic album, and a must for any Mother Love Bone, Green River, Pearl Jam, or Temple of the Dog fan.

Down on the Upside Soundgarden
""
"Upside" contains a unique sound. I even thought I sensed elements of Pink Floyd encased. It still maintains its soundgardenish edge yet its more explorative. I don't think people appreciate this album enough. It is a 16 song gem. The song writing is brilliant as usual. Cornell, Kim, Mat, and Ben don't dissapoint me at all. One of the best tracks is "Burden in My Hand". "Ty Cobb" is also an interesting song, it starts with a twanglike edge and then goes into crazy classic soundgarden-ness. This album was a good album to be their final album.

About Me

I am obsessed with music, i see it more as art, especially in the writing. It becomes entertainment in the performances. There is nothing better than a smooth guitar riff, or well thought out lyrics. Nothing is better than letting music take you into your own world, and letting your emotions drive on every note. Music is essentially my spirituallity. It allows me to think. Listening to music is like prayer. Don't get me wrong, I believe in God, but music is more of how I connect. It's weird, trust me I know.
