Jimmy Page is easily one of my most favourite guitar players of all time, if not favourite all-around musician. He started Led Zeppelin, one of the most influential and monstrous bands in history, and was a major driving force behind the band. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Before Zeppelin, he was a session man. Do you know the amazing guitar work that begins the Kinks' "You Really Got Me"? The chances those musical notes came from Jimmy's hand are very good; it is estimated he was in about 60% of all rock done during those times. Imagine! He joined the Yardbirds; apart from making even more beautiful music, he looked so cute in his little hat and haircut! Then came Zeppelin; after that, lots more work that made Jimmy's mark on the world.
Jimmy is amazing, because of his great guitar work (dig the double-necked guitar and violin bow used in Zeppelin), his persistance and determination, and the fact that he was amazingly hot when younger. Recently, he celebrated his 60th birthday. Happy birthday Jimmy, and thank you for the music, you guitar god!

I just got this CD, and have been listening to it religiously. It's great! It was considered one of the first psychedelic albums, thanks to songs like "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and the title track, but all of the songs deserve a listen to. I'm actually listening to "Lovely Rita" right now! Just stick this in and have fun, it's bouncy, happy music, except for "She's Leaving Home", but that's still good. I seriously recommend getting this album any way possible; it's amazing!

John Lennon's son, four-year-old Julian Lennon, came home one day with a picture of his school friend, Lucy, in the sky, surrounded with colourful diamonds. John was amazed at the wonderful artwork, and asked what it was called. Julian replied, "Lucy in the sky with diamonds!"
That is how this song got its name, according to Lennon himself, who never realized until after the LP went out that the title could be shortened to LSD: the name of a popular drug at that time. While it was entirely plausible that Lennon was inspired by countless acid trips to write the song, he never intended for the title to hold a "secret message". But let's not get into that now; Lennon claimed that was not that case til the very end (and on the anniversary of his death, I want to say i miss him), and it is very possible.
"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" is a fun, infectious song, even though the name may hint at illegal drugs. The lyrics make absolutely no sense whatsoever, and that adds to the fun-ness of the song. It makes you smile and want to dance around (acid trip, anyone?), and sparks your own creativity. Not a true masterpiece, but fun!

These guys have their own ideas about music and aren't afraid to show them. Although you get confused about their exact sexual orientation, etc., they make great music. "Comfortably Numb", a cover of the Pink Floyd hit, is not ruined in the Scissor Sisters' hands- they could not have done a better job! I also love "Laura", and although their songs can be very repetitive, they are very catchy and all-around great tunes. And when my stupid friends ask me if I'm listening to my "gay, drag-queen music", I proudly say yes (then tell them to shut up)!

I haven't heard all their songs yet, but from what I have heard, The Darkness is ready to become the next big thing! Their influences include Led Zeppelin and Queen, so I should like them. They may have an ego the size of England, but that's what a rock star is, right? They are the "ideal" rock star, and seem pretty pleased to be thought of this way.
"I believe in a thing called love" was the first song I heard, and right there I knew they were ones to listen to. The lead singer, Justin Hawkins, is a one-man power house, with the added bonus of a british accent, that's present even when he sings! Their "Christmas Single" song is very catchy, even if it isn't that festive. "Get your hands off of my woman" is good, although don't play it too loud if you don't want people to hear the last, drawn-out lines of "Motherfuc.." (you know the rest!).

I'm fifteen, and in love with the 60's and 70's. I wish I was born then :)! I love Led Zeppelin, and also listen to Pink Floyd, the Stones, Queen, the Grateful Dead, the Ramones, and Supertramp. My parents have repeatedly told me to "get my own music"!
Apart from my love of music, I also like my job (because then I get money!), Queen's University (and that's where the money'll go!), my Led Zeppelin shirt, my Union Jack belt (which is too big but that's okay!), my crazy friend Marie, and my no-longer pink hair! I want the Peace Chuck Taylors really badly, and to live in England! If I could go back in time to when Led Zeppelin was still together and young, I would love it!
