In twenty years, who are we going to remeber? Are we going to remember a bunch of pop stars who just cash in on catchy beats to make hits, or are we going to look at those who really challenged music? The Mars Volta's album will be looked back upon as a influencal masterpiece. I predict that they will influence musicains to come. The guitar work is amazing and the lyrics are challenging. The beats are complex and the singer is otherworldly in his delivery and tone. The people who will be remembered in music are not the ones who rake in the most cash, but the ones that take music to new territory. The Mars Volta, I believe, are that force that will take music to a new level.

Their second album, Live Through This, was a grunge masterpiece and their third, Celebrity Skin, was a great pop album with radio ready hits. So why don't more people like them? To put it simply, Courtney Love is a bitch. But that shouldn't stop people from listening to this band which is actually better then many of the grunge bands they draw inpiration from. Their sound is rock gone wrong and I love it.

The Blood Brothers are an intresting thing to behold. Almost everyone's first experience in listening to them is to turn the volume down. It's just too intense. I know with my first encounter, all I could hear was noise and screaming. But with repeated listens I got the lyrics and the depth of the music ( and the amazing musicains behind them) began to sink in. It's almost to the point now where I can't relate to people who just hear a mass of noise. The Blood Brothers mix amazing guitar work with great lyrics that rival almost any song writer in my oppion, not because they are so good. Just on the fact of their sheer orignality and the way that they are implemented. The tracks never get too pop oreinted and they never get to out of control either. It's a controled assalt that's carefully calculated. Now I find myself screaming along instead of covering my ears and shunning it. The only down fall of the album is the lack of a good back up singer. With this they would take over the world.

They are way different from anything you have ever heard, make no mistake. They are way more out there then most of the screamo bands today, but that doesn't mean they're bad. On the contrary, their difference is what makes them so refreshing to listen to. Songs that seem like a mess of sounds reveil deep musical value after constant examinations. The lyrics are so tounge in check and yet so important and dangerous. They are definetly worth a listen for anyone remotely intrested in emo.
