Feeling Sad? Why not just go into Depression by learning about the universe?

Well I've recently been reading up on philosophical questions, like "where do we come from", or "how did it all start?" and I have stumbled on some great articles and videos that have sparked my interest in quantum physics and the universe. The world we live in is SO MUCH LARGER than we think and is so much more complex and mysterious than we realise. Things like the Big Bang theory, the theory of ekpyrosis, the movement patterns of electrons and sub atomic mass, and so much much more...No matter how much I learn and get enlightened, I do not become happy because of my newfound knowledge....I go into depression...I realise how meaningless this life is and how damn insignificant we truly are...The sadder part is that we will never be able to know the whole truths.....Well I guess its time for me to pass on the depression....here, look at these sites and never smile again:

Som great articles on the theories to our creation and future

I'll end it with a site that has some BEAUTIFUL pictures of nebulas and places in our universe...that sadly, we will never be able to reach

Hope I didn't turn you guys into Emos

I see the link. Oh, and about your Emo comment at the end?...

It would take one heck of a life changing even to make me even the slightest bit "emo". Gag me.

I love how in your sig, you suggest that a picture of earth from far away disproves all religions. You might be a jerk, but you're probably just stupid.

The picture doesn't disprove religion. It's just an atheist's view of Earth. Calm down. It's just a peaceful message.

All that doesn't get me depressed though, just fansinates me. Its crazy to think how big the universe actually is.

It's only depressing when you have attachments to those things that give you a sense of self importance. It is programmed into our genetic natures to preserve our sense of self importance so that we may continue to survive and perpetuate ourselves. Our genetics are practically only complex forms of bacteria.. their main function is to occupy space, consume resources, and to replicate themselves so that they may live on. Everything that our human body has "evolved" towards is still based on this function.. even the seemingly complicated thought processes in our brain. All of our reactions can be related to chemically triggered responses, influenced by environmental responses. The stored information in which these triggered reactions are based on are brought forth through countless generations of natural selection. The central reason for many religions is to maintain a sense of security in people's minds.. to feel secure that there is a "reason" for everything.. when in all technicality, there can never be reason. How can there be within infinity? If something never had a beginning and never will have an end, how could there possibly be such a thing as reason? You could search forever, but I promise you will never find the answers you seek.

People will always dismiss this idea, because they are attached to a life where they feel important.. they want to think they are special and at a place above everything else. When really, we are all just an infinitely shrinking and growing speck in existence.. Conflicts exist in the world because our manners of survival contradict one another.. different ideals that give us a sense of security. When something else comes in the picture that threatens these ideals, we brink on losing our will to live and we all subconsciously fight against that. Most conflicts in the world are based on this principle of survivability, not much different from animals, or different forms of bacteria occupying the same space. I assure you though, to live on.. we don't need these ideals of self-importance to exist. We can make our minds separate from what our bodies need. I have no religion.. no thoughts of an afterlife.. yet this doesn't bother me at all. It is very possible to live on without being bothered by the pointlessness of everything, as killing yourself wouldn't really change anything.. would it?

Haha..Science.. our greatest accomplishment yet it is the most flawed way of thinking. The guy above me contradicted himself many times within his wall-O-text.
