Chinatown Wars

I haven't updated my personal blog in awhile, but I thought now's a good time. I'm playing GTA: Chinatown Wars, which is awesome. I wish the driving physics could be ported over to GTA IV.

The Indie Spotlight - Closure, Meatboy

I have been a fan of Tyler Glaiel & Edmund McMillien for some time now. It started with the game Aether. It's fun, free and exciting, and through this game I had one of the first realizations that there was a strong indie community that knew how to make great games. I was reading up on some indie blogs recently and I found Closure. I checked who made it and there were their names. In this edition of The Indie Spotlight we will cover two games, Closure and Meatboy, from these two up and coming indie developers. Enjoy! Oh, and did I mention these games are FREE! FREE! FREE!

Genre: 2D Platformer
Status: Out Now

From the beginning you start in a dim dark atmosphere setting the mood and feel for whats to come. Through a simple tutorial you're taught all of the mechanics to move around and solve all of the upcoming puzzles. Right away you find new unique ways to accomplish your tasks. Your goal is to simply make it to a door and move on, but as you continue further the journey becomes more complex than that.
To guide you through this dim and dark world are orbs of light that allow you to manipulate shadows and unlock other parts of the puzzle that help you move from one end to the other. Along the way you discover other orbs that serve different purposes than just light.

Check this FREE game out. You're in for an exciting ride in the world of Closure.

Meatboy is a fun and fast paced 2D platfomer. You are a ball of meet that can double jump the heck out of anything, meanwhile leaving a trail of bloody salmonella. Some people have complained that the game is a bit fast for the all of the tasks, but the countless times being chopped up by the sharp saws makes the whole experience worth it.
Your goal, save the clean meat princess. I don't how she gets up these puzzles, but she does. You wonder if it's one of those tests you're made to do to strengthen your relationship with the MRS. The first couple levels give you a short and easy tutorial that helps you hone your skills for the harder puzzles to come.

Remember always to make a mess everywhere in the game and not get chopped up into bits of meat. You can download Meatboy at the Gamespot Downloads Page.

Until next time. Download, Download Download!

Download of the Week

Download of the Week is a post dedicated to the great downloadable content we have here on Gamespot. Each week I will look at an awesome demo, mod, total conversion that we have on our site, and i'll give a little feedback on it. Check it out...

Caesar IV Demo

From: Vivendi Games

Genre: Real-Time Strategy

I'm a huge fan of the RTS genre, from the Command & Conquer series to StarCraft. Whenever developers come out with a demo for an RTS it's usually a great download to get. The demos usually include a tutorial, a couple missions and sometimes a bit more. So, it's worth your time downloading any RTS demo. That said, Caesar IV is no exception. In this demo you are given a great and simple tutorial while you start off.

Although, the tutorial is a bit annoying as it takes a bit of your lower left hand corner, it's easy to minimize and pop back up when needed. The demo includes a lot of buildings to choose from helping you expand your empire quickly and efficiently.

In most city building RTS games, you're usually given a council or advisers that help you along the way. Using your council will always help you manage your city, especially when you forget to building more housing that the jobs you create. Although, you're given a lot of money to start out with, it quickly dwindles away if your not careful. But starting off with a lot of cash is a big plus for any game, especially this demo.

You can download Caesar IV here and you can download any patch, demo, mod, map etc at the Gamespot Downloads Page. Till next time, download, download download.
