What the *hell* happened to Monster Magnet? It seemed that these guys were on the verge of blowing the doors off of everything that was hip at the time when they hit the scene; flannel was waving limp in the wind while Monster Magnet was stealing their weed and fucking their 14 year old daughters. So what happened?

Was it a lack of promotion via their record label? Was it 'too radical' for the time? Or was the band just too lazy to run with their own momentum? Who knows.

What I *do* know is that Monster Magnet's efforts have fallen shy of the glory days of 'Superjudge' and 'Spine of God'. Sure, I could be one of those guys who says "Yeah, they were awesome back in the day!!" and be jaded until the demise of the band.

Point is: I like Monster Magnet. I really do. But the latest slew of music that they're putting out is *below* them. Yes, I said it.

Where's the drugs? Where's that sonic noise that *made* you want to do those drugs? What am I talking about; Where's the rock???!?! How can you go from being one of the most kick-ass rock bands to becoming living parodies...without even reaching some level of financial success??

You think I'm joking, don't you? Well, considering that at-the-time, latecomers such as 'High on Fire' (ex-Sleep) and Fu-Manchu are currently kicking ass, you'd *think* that someone like MM would be basking on the mountain top. Nope.

Try a new non-commercial direction...but stick to your roots; ditch the rock-star production.

Ditch the egos, guys. It's hurting your career.

Ya need more balls to your tunes. Not more frosting.

And for God's sake, if you're gonna sing about yourself, be a little more obscure, Dave. We've heard it before. 3rd Person perspective would be a *minimum*.

Something is totally wrong with this scenario and I hope to fuck, Monster Magnet figures it out. Otherwise, I'll chalk them up with every other person who had what they wanted in their grasp....
