Life Update

Goodness, it's been a while since I posted here. Much news in my world, get ready for it.... I was laid off! YAY!!! I'm a statistic! 13 years at the station I worked for, and it's all gone in about fifteen minutes, maybe even less. That happened Dec. 5 and I still haven't found a new job. I'm actually starting to get really worried, since my severance runs out next month. I don't know how much longer I'll be able to keep computer access, but hopefully something will happen soon. A friend is trying to help me get a job at a local Walgreens, but I'm not really holding my breath. Sure, its not what I'm trained for, and seems like a step down, but you do what you have to do. Worse comes to worse, I'll be moving to Las Vegas sooner than I expected. I went out there for Christmas, and it was great seeing my family, but now I miss them more than ever. Though I do have to say it assuaged some of my fears about moving out there. I really like the mountains and it didn't seem big city-y at all. Though I didn't like all the sub-divisions and shopping centers. I guess they had to fill all that desert land with something, and with no trees or forests to get in the way, they had plenty of room to build. I've lived in a place with a long history, and Vegas is so new. Hopefully I'll be able to find a job there. Anyway, I think that's it. I hope everyone had a great holiday and new year.

Hello hun So good to hear from you, I’ve missed you around very much! Oh my, I’m so sorry you lost your job, looks like things are crazy everywhere, you aren’t the first one of my friends here who have lost their job lately Well, I’ll totally take that Walgreens job or whichever. You can always keep looking for something better with a paycheck in your pocket. I’m glad to hear that your trip to Vegas had some positive side too; I guess everywhere has both something good and bad and looks like the positive scale is weighing more at first sight. And who knows? Maybe it’s easier to get a job there, with all those many lights, and malls and buildings attracting tourism incessantly. Hope the New Year is a really great one for you and yours too, keep us posted will you? Huge hugs!

Hey! I'm trying to find a job now, but nowhere will take me on! It's quite depressing. Still, you can probably find something in Las Vegas, right? And Las Vegas has an interesting (if recent) history too.

Good luck with finding a job! How is the book coming along?

Thank you guys so much! I would answer each of you individually, but I don't have the time right now. I am looking forward to the move, and I hope it will be easier to find a job there. One of the impediments of getting one here has been my impending move. No one wants to hire someone who won't be around for more than a few months. I had originally planned to move in July, because my lease is up August 1st, but moving earlier may be my only option. I haven't worked much on my book lately, though I keep meaning too. It's just whenever I sit down to do something, I feel like I should be doing something to get ready for the move, or to find a job. I had hoped that I may be able to get a job doing recaps at the Recapist, I'd inquired about it anyway, but then they stopped paying their recappers, so that seemed to be a bust. I'm a fan of a lot of the recappers that worked there, so I wouldn't feel right doing recaps for nothing. Though it would give me a bit of something to do, I'd worry that I wouldn't give it top priority if a job came up that did pay, and making a commitment is important to me. I'm so glad Lost is back on. I'm really enjoying the season so far. More on that later.

Thanks to all of you for popping by.

Sorry about the lay off. I hope you have found a job. You know since my response is like more than a couple weeks later than your post. I had a seasonal job at Target myself and I am looking for a job too. Though I have been trying to get a nanny job. Of course no success so far. Anyway, I hope you are doing well. gs

Oooh true, I never thought about the fact of how the inminent moving would get in the way of getting a job. That Recapist thing sounds great for you, you have a lot of ideas and resources so I know you'll be just fine. Best of lucks anyway and more big hugs
