So I found this website, uniformfreak.com, which I guess is run by some Dutch guy who likes to collect stewardess uniforms from all different airlines. Anyway, I was looking through them all, and holy s**t are some of them horrible; they'll make youpuke or make your eyes bleed. Or both. The first three are from airlines that (I think)are out of business/bought out; probably because people don't enjoy getting sick on airplanes and it would be inevitable flying with these carriers. So, without further ado, here are my votes for ugliest uniforms:
Braniff International (late '60s)--I'm all for insane patterns. If it's just, like, a shirt. Not a hat, shirt, skirt, leggings, etc. in one go. I actually like thesetwofrom the '70s, but then the drugs wore off and we got this.
Allegheny Airlines ('60s/'70s)--Recycling gone wrong!
Hughes Airwest ('70's)--I'd prefer a "bright and sunny" personality over "bright as the frickin' sun" uniforms.
Bmi baby ('00s)--I bet they're comfy, but kinda sloppy. No effort at all.
Air Tanzania--I'm torn; I find the shirts to be horrid, but the scarves have giraffes on them, which is pretty damn sweet.
Kenya Airways--I think the shirts are designed to induce vomiting.
PSA (1984+)--Like the bright colours, but they clash with each other.
Uniforms I like:
PSA (pre-1984)--I think the colours go very well together.
Song--Casual AND stylish.
PIA, Royal Brunei, and most other airlines from Muslim countries--It's a comfortable kind of outfit and I like the colours and prints.
Sahara Airlines--Beautiful sari...
Also, in my opinion: ugliest airliners--Ilyushin Il-76, Antonov An-124and An-225, and Tupolev Tu-144and similar Concorde(sorry for any disrespect, former Soviet Union, but you guys built some damn ugly planes); favourites--Boeing 747, Airbus A330, and Lockheed Constellation. And I have a feeling that the super-high capacity Airbus A380will seem awesome, until the first one crashes fully loaded. Sorry for the length here, but I really got into it.
