I'm not sure how I feel about this pleasant weather.

I started training for my new job last week. I'm so sore from climbing up and down a utility pole all day yesterday. Mostly I'll be using a ladder, but it is required that we know how to "gaff" just in case. Gaffing involves using a spike attached to the boot to ascend the wooden pole. Thankfully the weekend is here and I can rest before we start again Monday.

It is relatively warm in Florida; not something I'm used to this time of year. In Alaska, I'd be facing daytime highs of >10 degrees. Today in Merritt Island, it is a breezy 73. Tough life, I know.

I finally got my turbo internet set up (for free, thank you Bright House). I tested it last night ~10 o'clock, just past peak usage house, and hit 19.6 mb/s download and 3 mp/s upload. I also got a new HD-DVR so I can finally record shows I'm going to miss instead of waiting until the next night to watch them on Hulu.

My favorite new show is Modern Family . Ty Burrell is too funny and Ed O'neill does a great job. I'm also enjoying The Office, but it's really nerver-wracking as Dunder Mifflin heads for bankruptcy.

My featured artist today is Julian Velard. I first discovered his music when I watched the independent film "The Big Bad Swim". After the movie I immediately bought every song of his I could find. His music isn't easy to categorize, and it's really something that has to be heard to be understood. So far, my favorite album is his self-released debut Nitetime. His newest album (three years in the making) The Planeteer comes out December 1st.

another one...gasp

Ugh, this whole "graduating" thing is just not going very well for me. I didn't get into UCF because I only have 6 credit hours of Spanish ( I need 8,). I also need one more math. Now, the math I can take care of at Brevard Community College, but I really don't know if I've retained enough Spanish to enroll in a level 3 course. I may end up borrowing my cousins copy of Rosetta Stone Spanish, giving myself a crash-course refresher and then just trying to get lucky in Sp. 3.

On a brighter note, I finally got myself a real life job. I'll be working for Bright House Networks (the cable company here) as an I/T tech. 401K, paid vacations and sick days, free cable/internet and INSURANCE. I haven't had health insurance since I worked at IBM, so this is very much a relief.

I'm currently really into Kaki King (real name Katherine King). She was the first ever female on Rolling Stones' "Guitar gods" list.

At least it's something. :)

I haven't been on here much, basically because at this time nothing is happening. I'm in sort of an awkward transitional stage...I'm just working (as a cook) until I can (hopefully) return to school in January. The weather was really nice for me the past 3-4 days, but it was chilly for the locals. Unfortunately, a heat wave is in the forecast.

As far as TV goes, I'm watching Flash Forward, House, Lie to Me, Shark Tank (I LOVE this show), The Middle, Modern Family and, of course, The Office. I've never followed this much TV in one season, ever. I watch mostly on HULU which makes it easy to keep track of them all because I can view whenever I want.

I can't wait for Psych to return.

My current music o' choice is Bon Iver (a "corruption" of Bon Hiver or "good winter").

Check out the song Flume from the album For Emma, Forever Ago.

First real blog in a while

Things are settling down here in Florida. I can only say so much about my sudden locale change, but I'm working right now and looking to attend UCF in the spring to finally finish school.

I learned to sail and I try to go out on the sunfish as much as possible. I live on the Banana River , part of the Indian River Lagoon , and I see dolphins swim through everyday. Unfortunately, dolphins still make me a little nervous (unless I'm on a big boat) and I try to avoid them as much as possible when I sail. I'm working on it, but for now when I see one (or more, they usually travel together) breach, I steer the opposite direction.

(Fun fact: 1/3 of the manatees native to the U.S. are in the Indian River Lagoon.)

The newest addition to my music library is Diane Birch.

She reminds me a bit of (a modernized) Carole King. Check her out on the Craig Ferguson Show . Then if you like her, swing over to Amazon and download her debut album, Bible Belt , for only $5.00!

Sad face

Well I've been retired as editor from Boy Meets World. Here's the story and where I am now.

As I mentioned earlier, my computer was broken and I was without one for a while. I got a new one and went to visit family in Florida. As soon as I got off the plane and went to dinner with my parents, our rental car was broken into and my brand new laptop was stolen. I finally (again) have a new one.

And now for something completely out of the blue...at least for all of you.

I now live in Florida. It's a very long story, but it's good to be back on the east coast and living close to family. I'll be attending UCF in the spring.

Now that you're somewhat up to date...

I'm sad that I'm no longer editor, but I understand the reasoning. I had no way to contact the site administrators to let them know what the problem was, but I realize that this is on me and not them. I'll have some more free time this fall so I'll be visiting the site more and FINALLY be returning to my blog.

Stay tuned...
