My Reactions on E3 for Nintendo so far...

SPOILER ALERT: It sucks.

Seriously, I was waiting for a big announcement about the Wii. First, about 10 minutes of tooting their own horn. Soon, they say they will focus on three games. My excitement turns into a "don't really care" attitude when I find that all of the titles are third party. Surely, this isn't it, is it? Okay, so apparently it is as we move on to the DS portion of the show. More third party games along with Pokemon. Yawn. Then I leave. Apparently, I missed Animal Crossing for the Wii (Don't care), Wii Sports 2 (Big yawn) and a voice chat device (Really don't want). I come back in time for the big announcement. The lights dim. The excitement builds...and then we see a man using his Wii remote and Nunchuck to play the drums. What. The. ****. The big announcement is a game that was announced when the console was first coming out. But wait! There's more! You don't actually have to hit buttons as they appear on screen to play the game! You can just press any button you please as long as its in time. I'm sure that won't get boring after 5 minutes! So I sit waiting for another announcement, only to see everybody leave the stage. Worst. Presentation. Ever.

As a long time Nintendo fan, I must say that this is the first time Nintendo has nothing remotely interesting on the horizon. Megaman 9 is the only upcoming game I care about, and that's just sad.

I must congratulate you for not cursing. but yes, that was disastorous. I didn't see it, but from what I see, its a good thing. you were actually there? at least I got a new emblem

No, I mean I watched it. I didn't get an emblem probably because I had to leave for the middle of it.

uctually, my emblem was for microsoft.. saw 30 minutes of it... saw fallout, that was good, but Sony Owned the E3 this year and probably next year as well with that presentation.

Games, games, games; that's all you people care about. "Since I didn't see Pikmin 3, Resident Evil 6 or Super Mario Galaxy 2 it was a disaster!" Which game were you complaining about not seeing?

Was I the only one who paid attention to and liked the concepts?

It's not about the lack of a huge blockbuster. It's about the lack of games that aren't just casual experiences. Hell, I don't care if it's another Mario sports game at this point (don't mention Mario Baseball or whatever the hell it's called: That wasn't announced at E3). There are a whole bunch of franchises yet to be utilized on the Wii. The only franchises that are getting a game are Pokemon (and it's for a spin-off series) and Animal Crossing (less of a game and more of a casual experience). The original Wii Sports got really old really fast as did Wii Fit as will Wii Sports Resort and Wii Music. Seriously, Wii Music was their big announcement. A game that, to quote another message board, "you pretend to pretend to play a pretend instrument." I thought the original demo looked fun, but this new "We don't need any sort of actual game play! As long as people are pressing buttons and going through the motions whenever the hell they want, it will all be fun!" Yeah, fun for half a minute.
But wait, there are all these new concepts! You can now use voice chat online! That's never been done before. Only for every other console on the face of the Earth. Hell, Metroid Prime Hunters had voice chat. Sure it wasn't during the match, but it had it! Plus, voice chat sucks. I've never seen anyone play an online game with voice chat and not had some moron shouting stupid crap because he thinks he is funny.
As for the Wii motion plus, it sounds like just another adapter that costs more money, and for only a few games that will use it. It is nothing huge: it's an add-on that makes the control do what it was always said it did: follow the player's movements.
The point is Nintendo didn't announce a single game that would interest the gamer who would like nothing more than A ****ING GAME!!!
Now, I'm not saying "Screw you Nintendo, I'll never play another of your games again" or "I'm selling my Wii." No. I'm simply saying that press conference sucked. End of story.

"Franchises"... Star Fox and Pikmin. Anything else? Oh right, another Mario Party next year. Or, maybe another game of franchises already on the wii? It has not been two years...

So, you have no idea what you wanted to see?

I wanted to see a game. I don't care what franchise, just a game that doesn't appeal to the "casual" gamers, and one that is preferably made by Nintendo. It doesn't matter what franchise it is, I just want a good game and nothing shown yesterday was that good.
