I have returned: Older, wiser and a better taste in Games
After almost a year and a halfs absence, I have decide to return to Gamespot. ![]()
I left initially due to the horrible R+C Future: Tools of Destruction and the whole firing of Jeff gerstmann scandal but have decided to give it another chance. That and I cant remember my user name for my IGN Account. ![]()
So a year has past since my last blog entry, I am now 18 and at college and finding myself with alot of spare time on my hands as well as alot of extra money to buy games. In fact I have bought so many new games in the last year I still have 5 or 6 games to complete before even thinking of buying another. I have also became more open minded towards games that I wouldnt usually buy and would probably say I am alot harsher a critic than I was before.
So just to recap on my last year of absence, 2008 was a great year for me as a gamer and a person. I have became a hell of alot less socially retarded and would even go as far as saying am at least 10x more confident with myself than I have ever been, especially around women
.
I also have quite a different appearance than prior to 2008, I decided to grow my hair alot longer but not too long, I pierced both my ears and have tribal tattoo as well. ![]()
But now onto the games. I finally bought a Wii and pretty much all the decent first party exclusives excluding Super paper mario (Zelda:TP, Mario Kart Wii, SMG, SSBB, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Warioland: The Shake Dimension) and Okami. I have not played my Wii as much as i would have like to tho as my PS3 has had a great year. With Games like Burnout paradise, DMC4, GH III and World Tour, MGS4, GTA IV, Fallout 3, Little Big Planet, Bioshock, Resistance 2 and prince of Persia are just some of the great games I have had the pleasure of playing this year. I shall have my GOTY 2008 Nominees lined up shortly but i still have to complete POP, Valkyria chronicles, Persona 3 FES, Okami, warioland and Metroid prime 3, oh and Sonic Unleashed but tbh apart from the daytime stages it kinda sucks balls.
Also its a bit long overdue but a think I should show my top 5 games of 2007 lol
.
- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Definetly for me the sleeper hit of the year. I personally had no interest in this game up until the reviews started flying in and realised I had to try it out. The Campaign, while short, was probably the most intense, enjoyable story that has ever been told through a first person shooter that has stuck with me even till today. There isnt a moment that isnt exciting throughout and the ending almost reduced me to tears.
- Final fantasy XII: Who would have ever thought that one of my favourite games of 07 would be on a last gen console, but FFXII was brilliant. It had almost everything I could asked for in a great JRPG. Compelling Combat system, Immersive world, Hundred of hours of sidequests and a rich story. Unfortunately tho that Squaresoft magic touch appeared to be missing throughout with a rather boring cast of characters compared to previous games in the series who just generally lacked oomph in their personality cept Balthier... he was ace..

- Uncharted: Drakes Fortune: To this day I still struggle to find a PS3 game that can top Uncharted in the looks department. The gorgeous Jungle and characters are still better than the best today. It wasnt just looks tho, Uncharted is a really great game. A very charming and simple story with easy to love characters made it easy to get absorbed into the game, intense challenging shootouts and fun platforming sections add theicing to the cake. Uncharted 2 is one of my most hyped games of 09 and can wait to see more of Nathan Drakes adventures come fall 09.
- Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion - This might have been higher on my list if i didnt replay to pick out its enormous amount of flaws. that being said however I totalled 130 hours into exploring the lands of Cyrodil and enjoyed every second of it. A beatiful world full of life, some great quests and an addictiveness that will drain away months of ure life.
- R+C Future: Tools of Destruction: the most polished , Funniest, , enjoyable and Longest ratchet game yet, and its in HD with Pixar like graphics. Nuff said

Anyways expect plenty of blogs from now on and many a review of the next few weeks.
PEACE OUT HOMIES!!!!!!!!! ![]()

Gaming update - return of the classics
I have finally completed oblivion so I have decided to play some older games which i have borrowed off friends.
Legend of Zelda : Majoras mask (N64) : Good game so far but very confusing.
Legend of Zelda : Orcarina of Time (N64) : havent had a chance to play it yet but have played it several times before (It was great back then so it should be great now)
Final Fantasy VI (PSone) : BRILLIANT!!! One of the better FF with a great story, characters and villian (kefka)
I am also playing resistance alot more online.
I also should be getting a job soon so here are the games I plan to buy before the end of October
- Warhawk
- Ratchet and Clank Future
- Pro evolution soccer 2008
Heavenly sword First Impressions
I downloaded Heavenly Sword a couple of days ago and although very short, shows enough gameplay to make me want to play this more.
The demo starts off with nariko and her half sister Kai upon a cliff staring down at the invading armies fortress. The facial animation in this game is the best I have ever seen in a game period, better than Mass Effect. The graphics are also stunning even on my SD LCD TV. You start off with a interactive button press combo while running down a rope towards your enemies. Once your their you will begin combat. Those who think that this game is just a GOW clone then you are in for a surprise. The combat consists of 3 different styles spee, range(L1) and power (R1) each of these three stances has their own set of combos and moves, however HS usees a counter/blocking system that makes you use different styles to block and counter certain moves. The range style might not allow Nariko to block but she can perform aerail combos by thrusting enemies into the air andthrusting the sixAxis upwards to allow aerial combos where you can string combinations together. If you counter moves and perform combos and aerial combos your special meter increases. The special meter has three levels of special moves ranging from kill one character to legions of characters. It is safe to say that the combat is far better than i imagined and could well be as good as if not better than many of the top action games. The combat is more like NG and DMC than the rather button mashy GOW but you can still button mash if you desire.
The next part of the stage sees you falling of the pillar into the fortress surrounded by more enemies. This time though you can use the environment to the advantage. You can lift enemy pojectiles and your surroundings and throw them at enemies using an aftertouch controlled with the SixAxis. The best use of this so far is using an enemy shield to rebound of walls and enemies to rack up a combo. This feature is very well implemented and is so far the best use of sixaxis control.
Overall the demo was short and sweet and could definetly be one of the biggest and best games coming to PS3 this year.
I have returned with a PS3 : First impressions
After E3 i had given in and bought a PS3 heres my first impressions.
The console itself is by far the best looking console i Have ever had, it is really heavy which means I cant keep travelling to my friends house with it.
Signing on to the PSN was easy enough but I am still having roblems with my Wi-Fi, every time i Sign and the connection always breaks off either really quick or in between an hour of me signing in. Also sometimes it does not let me sign on because it says tht the NAT type has failed. If anyone knows how to fix this problem it would help a lot.
OK now onto the games, I got Motorstorm and resistance with the console and they are both really great. Motorstorm exceeds my expectations both graphically and gameplay wise. the Controls are precie and the races are always intense and their seemed to be no slowdown when online. At first Resistance wasa dissapointed as it was not that graphically impressive and it seemed like a generic FPS. But after playing for a few hours though I realised how technically brilliant it was with all the action happennig on screen and all of the great environmental effects, I also really like the weapons design.
I also downloaded 3 playable demos, The Darkness, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Virtua Tennis 3. The darkness was not that good with it being to easy due to the powers and a poor aiming system. NGS was absolutey great, brilliant fast paced and challenging combat system with enough powers and weapons to keep it fresh and new, should be picking it up soon enough. VT3 was great graphically and the gameplay was well balanced but i Dont think I will buy it as their is 2 many new good games comng out to soon to make this a great purchase.
Wel thats all for now, until then back to Resistance.

Weekly Blog - Super paper Mario, PS3 and Reviews.
Anothr week has gone by and I have gained a lot of interest in Super Paper Mario. It looks like such a smart take on the platforming and RPG Elements of mario games and I like the 2D/3D Side view as it looks really original. If you would have asked me a year ago at E3 if I was interested at all with this game I would have said no but now it looks like another great excuse to pick up a Wii.
Also my Ipod Nano broke so I took it back to the store to get it fix or to get a repalcment. I saw A PS3 Lying out there asking to be touched and I got to play a quick game of Virtua Tennis which seemed really good, cant wait till I have finished my exams so that I can pick one up.
I wrote a review on Devil may Cry 3 (FINALLY!) and I can say that it is one of the most challenging games I have ever played.
Thats all for this week.

Weekly Blog - SvR2008, GTA IV Trailer and Reviews
Another week goes by and yet more games are showen.
IGN has the world premiere of WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008. It looks great, the wrestlers look more realistic than last years 360 version which was too shiny. The main platform is PS3 nd they are also making Wii and DS versions of the game. Heres the link below.
http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/776/776654p1.html
Also the world premiere of GTA IV was a this week in a short trailer showing off the new and improved Liberty City(New York) andwhat seems like th new main character (He appears to be foreign). Im not going to bother to send a link as already most of the gaming community have seen this video.
I borrowed Kingdom Hearts 2 off my friend and its a good game. I will write a review soon which means that I will need to delay my Devil May Cry 3 review till a later date.

See you next Week!
More Reviews
I have posted two reviews from my old profile with some slight modifications. Resident Evil 4, in my opinion is possibly one of the greatest ever, I even rated it higher than FFVII. Tekken 5 is my favourite fighter of all time and the latest is the greatest.

Please read these review and recommend them if You want.
Level 10 = Uploading Videos
I just reached level 10 meaning that I can now upload videos.

Also could I ask that you read some of my previous reviews, I would appreciate it if could recommend them but wont go mental if you choose not to.

I will pick the review on Sunday night and hopefully have it up by Monday.
Hell have mercy on your ass Capcom!
How could you do this, you bunch of sellouts?
Although Devil May Cry was never published by Sony it certainly was one of Sony's most valuable series. And Now its coming to 360.
Capcom better do something to prove that MS Have not paid them off, by bringing Dead Rising or Lost Planet to PS3 (Preferably Dead Rising) or maybe even making Resi 5 a PS3 exclusive, as it did start off on the Original Playstation.
Sony have got to get a firm grasp over some third party developers or risk losing a lot of sales. They should try and nick some 360 exclusives such as Dead Rising or Bioshock or something big. Sony has lost all of these exclusives in the last year.
- GTA IV
- Assasins Creed
- Virtua Fighter 5
- Mercenaries 2 : World in Flames
- Devil May Cry 4
All of these games were very key to boosting the PS3 Sales. However I still hink that the PS3 Versions of these games will be better than the 360 versions as it is rare that a port is ever better than the original version, and certain games like Devil May cry have been centered around the PS3 Controller to make a perfect Control system and most fans of the series might be dissapointed with a new control scheme on a new console.
So sony get a grip together and secure some more exclusives or face losing bigger games like MGS 4 and FFXIII. As for Capcom you can go to hell you bunch of sellouts!
Weekly Blog - Decisions to be made, Devil may Cry 3 and PS3 Launch.
Nothing much happened this week but Im struggling to pick the next generation console I really want. Deep down the only console I have ever wanted is the PS3 but games like Mass Effect and other great 360 games that are out have started to corrupt me. There are many other reasons to postpone getting A Ps3 such as that the fact that they could bring out new Rumble controllers or the fact that they do not have the real Killer Apps coming out till the end of the year. The Wii alos interests me but I think my sister wants one so thta saves me money. One things for sure, by summer I will have a next-Gen console underneath my TV.
Also this week I am still playing Devil may Cry 3 and am sarting to the see the great challengign game that it is that I did not see the first time I completed (On easy Mind you though). I also completed C&C: Red Alert 2 today with the soviets so expect a review this week.
Next Friday the ps3 is coming out but I cancelled my Pre-order as I have very, very important exams coming up over the next couple of weeks and would hate to mess them up.
Got New Banner!
Made a cool new banner today. Lokks a lot better than the last one.
Only a 10 days left until PS3 is out!
Cant wait.....................
Weekly Blog - GDC, Games and otherr stuff
Well GDC was here this week and thought it was great. Sony's keynote Speech went down really well with the introducing of PS Home. Sony are finally starting to build steam.
A game that really interested me was Little Big Planet from Media Molecule, I was quite surprised at how this idea has never been done before, its almost grounbreaking stuff and is the kind of user created content that Harrison was talking about.
Also I have started playing Devil May Cry 3 again, hard as nails im just at the boss battle with the two guys without heads and they keep on killing me when one of them fuses their swords. Great game which is very challenging though which is good because I have not been challenged like this in a game for a while. Review should be up by next week.
Does anyone think that Peter Monyleux from Lionhead has creepy ideas for Fable 2, or really just pure genius ideas?
Thats it for this week.
PS3 Home is different than what I thought, but Better.
PS3 Home looks incredibly smart. Its like a giant online universe in which you can build a home and place your own created character ( A bit like the Mii System except more Hi-tech) in that house. This is where you can make new friends and meet people. The best of all that you can display all of your gaming achievements in your Home for other people to see( A bit like achievement points, but more syphisticated). The cocnept is absolute brilliant and could be the thing Sony needs to pull back in the war. Now all Sony need to do is bring out more killer titles like Lair, Heavenly Sword, Rachet Future, Drakes fortune and more AAA titles.
Also Killzone footage was shown and was described as a next-Gen Black but no footage has been released yet.
We will rumble you. Great News for PS3 Owners and fans
Finally, the moment I have been waiting for since E3 last year, Sony has announced that they will support rumble again.
Also rumours have been about saying that at GDC Sony will introduce a system which sounds a lot like 360's achievement system and the Mii system combined. Perfect!
GTA IV will be unveiled on March 29th on the website hich will probably leak some new details and gameplay footage.
I also played FFXII again today, I have just got my first esper and am just training and hunting at the moment. The game is still great and will probably stilll be playing it once the PS3 has launched.
Well thats all, things are looking up for Sony
Weekly Blog - New icons, New games and other stuff.
Okay my first weekly blog ever.
- Bigger Icons means that I can get bigger pictures and icons I have been saving for a while.
- Preordered PS3 this week, which means that I am almost guaranteed one on launch day.
- FFXII is great, though I have had too much schoolwork to play it during the week. Im only at the Tomb of Raithwall and have not got my first summon/esper yet.
- Wrote a review on Gex: Enter the Gecko, good game but nothing groundbreaking. Hope they bring it to PS Store soon.
- Speaking of that they should make a firmware update for the european launch so that we can Psone downloadable games on the PS3 instead of PSP. I just dont have the money to buy a PS3 and a PSP, plus there are only a couple of good games for PSP.
- Started playing Star fox : Command again and I like more than ever. Crrently trying to unlock the other endings and will soon give it a review.
- One or two reviews might go up this weekend as my mum says she is taking my PS2 away so I can focus and schoolwork and will have bit of spare time.
Thats all, more next week!
Pre-ordered PS3 Today
Pre-ordered today along with Resistance and Oblivion. Will play Motorstorm demo before buying but Virtua Fighter 5 will be probably be my next game.
Long live the PS3!
