Since I am the founder of OMEN's Official Fan club, OmensLair, I have special perks! ;-)
This review is based on a review I wrote in OmensLair on Fri Oct 3, 2003, but editied some-what.
Kenny had said a surprise was coming my way.
I received a package from OMEN through UPS. I immediately started to salivate in anticipation. What could it be? The new ETB CD? A tour t-shirts? All I new is that I couldn't wait to open the package!
I opened the package and what a GLORIOUS surprise... OMEN's 20th Anniversary Boxset!!!
Oh my Goddess! This is too awesome! The artwork on the boxset
and the CD's is fabulous. Very colorful. The CD jacket for Disc 1 (see descriptions below) has lots of rare pictures of the band along with small review articles and concert fliers.
The CD jacket for Disc 2 has Liner Notes from the band's manager, Kenny and Kevin, plus more pics. Both CDs include lyrics! Yeah!!!
The sound is supurb! It's almost like Surround Sound is formatted into it. I was ecstatic to see that "Toture Me" was on this CD. I had never heard this song before, and have been unable to find it anywere until now. The song rocks in the classic OMEN tradition! Another bonus was the bonus track "Battle Cry (Live)". This last track fades out, but not before OMEN started playing "Bounty Hunter". What a tease!!! ;-)
Well, I "WOULD" have been on time for work this morning if I had not been so tempted to put Disc 2 (DVD) in my player this morning, but I could not resist the almighty Battle Cry. So I put the DVD in and...
HOLY COW!!!! OMEN rocks live. Now I can really kick myself for missing their Warning of Danger tour.... eventhough it wasn't my fault. :-|
I was captivated. I kept telling myself "OK, just one more song and then I gotta go." NOT!!! hehehe
I left a 1/2 hour late! But hey, I've got flex hours at work! ;-)
This boxset is a MUST for any OMEN fan!
