Suicide Superstar is an heavy sounding number, slow but still hard-hitting. Lyrics in English.

His music is not perfect. Sometimes the song structures seem a little too skizophrenic; a very strong part fades away and then you`ve got a guy singing with very subtle arrangements underneath, and you feel it is kinda forced; the transitions can sound a bit difficult sometimes and it seems to lose momentum to me.
BUT I have never heard someone else having the ability to write a piece as powerful as Gotterdammerung (part of the immense 4-part work Der Ring des Nibelungen, which is kinda about the same thing as the Lord of the Rings, being influenced by nordic mythology...), the beginning of the Tristan und Isolde opera or,yes, the Der Valkure thing, which some qualify as pretentious and over-bombastic, but which has done an excellent job of making a lot of people familiar with classical music who would never have had any interest in the genre if not because of such works. And if Wagner would not have written this, we never would have had the ****ing killer part in Apocalypse Now where teh bombardment goes on with this sublime music in the foreground...

The sound of their first "official" album, Streetcleaner, was raw, dirty and dark beyond everything that had been done before. Classified by some as Grindcore, it made no sense when the very slow speed of this record was taken into account. So the band was basically very heavy and powerful but also very hard to classify. The following opus, Pure, boasted a cleaner sound but an as much experimental style, and Godflesh quickly achieved cult status with their unique songwriting signature. They remain one of the most interesting electronic Rock bands of recent years.

Some other were close to be as influential, such as Ministry or Godflesh, but none went as far into experimenting with different sounds and styles. The first songs were more accessible, and then with albums like Last Rights the band progressed to become quite weird... But in recent years reverted back to create electronic songs that are as interesting as they are catchy. Impossible for another band to be as important to the scene as this one.

V.A.C. was more extreme in the band\'s beginning, with faster rythms and harsher tones. Since like 2000, the music is slower and more melodic, based more on emotions and melancoly than aggression and violent moods. The project has not lost his identity, though, and the V.A.C. sound is still intact.
It is and most likely will stay more personal and sincere than most bands in the EBM style at large, who for the most part create a couple of potent albums before going into a Future-Pop sound which goes nowhere.
