Whoa is this site

Its pretty dead, in fact I think it is dead...sometimes I hear something, but its my echo, gone are the days of the Pebs vs Filo fights, gone is the CoB fanboyisms, gone is the DFan wondering if he is a she or she is a he, gone is Bigtruck who inspires us to listen to Doom, gone is the glory days, yet I find myself still here. I guess im hopeing for something to happen, but I doubt it will. I visit to remember, remember the 5th of September(or something like that, Watch V-For Vetteta).

Album Review

Miasma The Black Dahlia Murder
"Trendy"
This album and band is intereing, makeing their music very close to death metal but a bit too melodic to be called it. So are they Melodic Death Metal with a Metalcore twist? Anyways, this album is quite impressive with the killer drummer, and dual vocals that attack with a screcher, and a more traditional death vocalist. They have somewhat catchy and hooky riffs, but sometimes are very predictable when they are going to happen. This album sure begs to question, is this the new Melodic Death Metal, if so, damn it was impressive! Check this out if you like Brutal Metalcore, or Melodic Death Metal.

Album Review

A Death Grip on Yesterday Atreyu
"Grows on you"
This album is very different and more progressively mainstream than there last two albums. Also, this album is quite short only 9 songs but there are no filler tracks in this album so its worth the money. The positives of this album is the vocals, and lyrics they hit gold with writeing the songs. "The Theft", "Your Private War", "Fork in the Road" are all great songs to check out or download for a test try. The hit "Ex's and Oh's" is probably the most overated on this album, because the lyrics are not the best(kinda silly in a way) but it has a decent solo in it and its really catchy causeing it to be the single, but by far the best song. The disappointments are the 9 songs, and that they are getting to close from being one of those generic mainstream bands. The heavy brutality of there last two albums is almost gone, but it makes it a more easy listening cd for those Hardcore/Metalcore newbies. Overal 3.5 out of 5 because it was solid just expecting more from this band.

Superb

Album Review

Wages of Sin Arch Enemy
"Masterpiece"
This is the first album with their new singer(a chick) and this was probably the best thing to happen to them. This album is probably one of the best melodic death albums ever. The album combines both brutal vocals, with the most melodic and heavy songs known to mankind. It opens up with "Enemy Within" probably my favorite song on this album. It starts out with a nice soft beginning then followed by a drummer hammering on the drums and then her vocals come out. Its one of the best death vocals, it may not be the most brutal but it is awesome. The solos are perfect, they are well placed in each song and there are sometimes more than one solo in each song. The biggiest change is also how catchy these guys are with their riffs and lyrics, something that is also crazy to hear from a death metal band. If you are a fan of In Flames, Soilwork, or even just Metal this is a must buy.

Best songs:
"Enemy Within"
"Burning Angel"
"Ravenous"
"Dead Bury Their Dead"
"Shadows and Dust"

Album Review

Phobia Breaking Benjamin
"Timeless"
Finally Breaking Benjamin breaks through, their previous albums were good but couldn't quite get the top tier album. This album makes it one, this album displays some of the best lyrical writeing for a nu-metal band. Who also shines in this album is the drummer, the drummer in my mind makes this album great. At times he is really moveing which is pretty impressive for a Nu-metal/Hard Rock band. Enough about that lets talk about the album...songs are very personal, but not whinny at all thanks to the great vocal range of lead singer. The songs go back and forth from slow and angry which feels like a rollercoaster at times. But what makes this cd stick is how freakin' catchy this album is! The catchiness of the album makes you want to sing the song and will not get out of your head.

Album Review

Alaska Between the Buried and Me
"Grows on you"
This album is like rideing a huge twisting roller coaster and every song has a mini-coaster in it. A typical Between The Buried And Me(BTBAM) song is unlike none other. This album is so crazy the first thing you do when you listen to it is say "WTF was that?!" cause if your not used to BTBAM then this album will not make sense for the first 5 plays. The song writeing really matures in this album, they mix melodic with very brutal stuff and they do it in each song so well it just plainly amazes me. The standout songs are "All Bodies", "Selkies: The Endless Obsession"(best song), "BackwardsMarthon" and "The Primer". Each song is masterly perfected to each wake you up, or to slowly bring you into the song then BOOOM, the song goes brutal, then back...The key to album is how they molded each song and when you finally get the hang of this album you will be amazed on how good these guys are at crafting music. Progessive Yes they are...BUy if you ready for something you never heard before!
