To upgrade or not to upgrade, that is the question
Put simply, my computer is starting to get a little long in the tooth. It's at that annoying stage where all the games I've been playing run pretty much fine, but some of the newer ones coming out are too big for it.
Now a deadline for me to upgrade will be the release of Spore. No matter what, I'm upgrading for that game. That being said, it's not coming out until the Christmas season. If I wait to upgrade until then, I'll get a lot more value for my dollar than if I upgrade now, being how technology advances so quickly. Then again I do hate being the only person who can't run Oblivion. Then again, around Christmas I can get Oblivion (and possibly an expansion pack if they make one) combo, with ALL the bugs squashed for a reduced price. I'm leaning towards waiting. What do you guys (and gals) think?
of Mice and Heroes
Computer fixed, back at home on my ultra-fast cable modem. You know what that means! MMO time. I debated between them. Guild wars, FFXI, WoW, EQ2 but I could not accept any of them. I went back to my love from last year: City of Heroes.
The gameplay itself, by MMO standards, is on par. Others have some bells and whistles that it doesnt have, and it has a few itself. The MAIN thing that draws me back to City of Heroes is the roleplaying. Specifically, roleplaying on the virtue server, which is the unoffical roleplaying server.
Oh sure WoW SAYS they have RPing servers, but I played WoW for awhile. Let me tell you, not one good and dedicated rper. Whats a good RPer? someone who can stay in-character even in a dungion, instance or mission. You'll find plenty of those players in City of Heros.
Who is my character on Virtue? I wont say, but let us say that the title of this entry will give you a hint as to the nature of the hero.
Computer problems and old school gaming
www.the-underdogs.org and www.abandonia.com are great places if ever you are in an old school mood.
I'm going to get a new computer as a graduation present. Once I get my Alienware system up and running, I'll be back to 3D. I only hope they say what the system specs for Spore will be at E3, so I can plan accordingly.
