Can't think of a clever title for this blog

Oh, hello there. I haven't written a blog in 2 months have I? I guess it's time I bring life back into my profile and prove to everyone that I am indeed still alive.

So what have I been doing for the last 2 months? Well since becoming a Gamefly user I've been spending a lot of my time playing tons of games that I otherwise would have never given a second glance at in the store and playing games that I would have liked to have bought but instead rented. Lets see here, I'll pull up my Gamefly rental history and give you a rundown of what I've played in the last 2 months starting from August and ending now.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Great game, worth a rental.

Wanted: Weapons of Fate - Extremely short game (about 3 hours) and the points were easier to get than finding a free to play Tetris game online. I got all 1000 points in it in about 2 days.

Halo Wars - Left me a bit cold. I've played a lot of RTS games in my time and this game just couldn't hold up. It was too simplistic and just wasn't much fun.

Too Human - What you've heard is indeed true. This game is terrible. How anyone enjoyed it is beyond me. The only thing it had going for it was the loot and if it didn't have that it could has been the worst game I've ever played.

Dissida: Final Fantasy - I like Final Fantasy. At least the 2D games. From FFVII and on I have ignored the entire franchise. This game was mainly just fan service and had more of an emphasis on FFVII and on. So I didn't really like it. The combat got very boring as well.

Ghostbusters - Yes, I finally got the chance to play this game and I really liked it.

Batman: Arkham Asylum - Wow. Just wow. This is game of the year so far. I absolutely loved this game.

That's not everything I played but they are the most notable.

Expect another blog in the coming days. I have some things that I'd like to share with you guys. I had to post this boring blog just to get back into the swing of things.

TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled XBLA Review

NOTICE: I don't expect everyone to read the entire review but if you do plan on buying the game PLEASE read the 4th paragraph. Thank you.

It's been a while since the arcade release of Turtles in Time. It's gone down in history as one of the greatest arcade games of all time and for good reason. It was a great beat em' up that let 4 people play on the same machine at one time. It truly was an experience to behold. But games have progressed a lot since then and old school beat em' ups just don't hold up as well anymore and this remake of Turtles in Time is no exception.

In Turtles you get very few play modes. There is Story mode that is 4 players online and off, a Quickplay mode that lets you skip to any level you've already played through, and one other mode called Survival were you only have 1 life and when you die it's game over. All of these modes have the same 4 difficulty levels to choose from. The online works well enough and it handles lag very well. You won't experience any slow down but the players on the screen will jolt around if your connection can't keep up.

Whether or not the gameplay is good is really a matter of personal opinion. If you still enjoy old school beat em' ups that are all about holding Right and wailing on the X button then this game is for you. If you've since abandoned that ****of gameplay and can't find yourself getting back into it then this game won't win you over. All the turtles play exactly the same other than some characters having further reach with their attacks, like Donatello and his bow staff, or some moving faster than others. But no matter what Turtle you pick your game experience will remain the same. You can also now attack in all 8 directions instead of just in front of you and behind you and this makes the game a lot easier than it previously was.

If your someone who never played the arcade version but instead played the SNES version then this isn't the game you remember. This is the arcade version remade. That means you don't get a Technodrome level and Shredder instead transports you back in time at the end of the 3rd level where you're in the sewer fighting the yellow Alien lookalike monsters. The prehistoric level does not have the evil spiked turtle as a boss but instead has a mud monster for the boss. Also in the pirate ship level you fight Toka and Razar instead of a pirate Beebop and Rocksteady. So this is a fairly different game than the SNES version and you should keep this in mind before paying for a copy.

So for $10 you get a very outdated game that probably isn't the version you remember. On top of that you can beat the game in about 30 minutes and if you know what your doing you can get most of the achievements in one play through. You also can't switch the graphics back to the original look so your stuck with the updated look. Buying the game is just a matter of whether or not you want to play an outdated beat em' up.

6.5 out of 10

Gamefly - Que 1

So since I'm on Gamefly now I thought that every time I receive new games from my Que I'd give you all some impressions on what I think. I'm sure it won't interest many of you but I do love writing these blogs so maybe I'm just doing this out of a need to write this stuff down. Who knows!

The very first two games I received from Gamefly were Mirror's Edge and Far Cry 2. Both came sort of unexpectedly since they were both around the middle of my game que and others before it had high availability. Here are my impressions.

Mirror's Edge was fantastic. I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought I would. The story was pretty good. It was nothing groundbreaking or fantastic but it did keep fairly interested as the game went on. The controls did take getting some used to but once I mastered them the game became pure fun. It was very short and I actually ended up beating it the day I got it in the mail but only because I couldn't stop playing it. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for something new.

Far Cry 2 is, well very very meh. I can't get into it all. The game look unappealing, it's tedious having to drive everywhere, the gunplay is weak, it takes too many shots to kill a guy, and when I shoot someone I don't feel like I'm doing anything and then just fall over dead. So yeah, I don't like Far Cry 2.....at all really. I'm probably done with it by now.

I've already shipped Mirror's Edge back to Gamefly and I have Wolverine at the top of my game que on what to send next. But judging from what happened last time who knows what they'll send next. But here's hoping it's Wolverine or Ghostbusters.

My life's greatest accomplishment

I, yes I, finished a full game of Monopoly. But it wasn't just a normal game of Monopoly, no sir! It was Transformers Monopoly! Ah wuh chuh chee choo choo. Yes I know that expertly typed out Transformers transforming sound blew your mind but please stay with me here.

2 hours into the game, I have hotels (called Anti-matter in this version) on many spaces on the board including Earth and Cybertron which is Transformers Monopoly's equivalent of Park Place and Boardwalk. I draw an Autobot card that makes me pay $200 for every Anti-matter I have on the board. I have to mortgage most of my property to help pay the costs but that didn't slow me down, no sir! I came back and with vengeance gaining money faster than you could say "Ah wuh chuh chee choo choo".

Then the end game rolled around. My opponent rolls a 7 and lands on Cybertron having to pay $2000 in rent because of the Anti-matter in play. Even when he mortgaged out all his property he still couldn't afford the sky high rent costs rendering him bankrupt and I, yes I, became victorious.

Ah wuh chuh chee choo choo!

Transformers Monopoly available in a store near you.
