Review: Blood Diamond
So most of us who have seen our fair share of blockbusters could easily dismiss Blood Diamond as being a predictable adventure movie, "that is of course if you're only basing your dismissal off the trailer". But the movie itself was a real sursprise to me. It's only the second movie that I have liked Leonardo Dicaprio in, the first being Man In The Iron Mask. Thankfully Dicaprio is finally losing his pretty-boy characteristics, and turning into a more interesting actor bordering the lines of James Dean. Blood Diamond is not your generic action movie, but a movie that simply depicts a fictional story of a man trying to find his family, while the actual setting and war of the film are non-ficticious and really did happen in the early 90's. Jennifer Connelly's performance is superb, and Dicaprio turns in a very intrigueing character that is oscar worthy. The war setting of the film doesn't pull it's punches, but rather simply shows the true brutallity of war and genocide. Leanardo Dicaprio plays an ex-military diamond smugler who is simply trying make enough money to escape his homeland of Africa. But the movie has much more substance than can easily be reviewed for. Blood Diamond is simply one of the best war films of all time. Thumb up.
My long break from my movie making hobbie has ended with one my favorite themes.
The Godfather theme. Even more shocking, is it's laced over scenes from Metal Gear Solid 2. Do they mix? I think so. Perhaps I even beat HGW's soundtrack partially.
