Metallica Rock/Pop
"Legend"
I must say that Metallica is not favorite band, because nothing beats Megadeth. Other than that, Metallica's awesome and they've had a wide variety of music that is great. My favorite Metallica songs are "The Call of Ktulu," "Master of Puppets," "Fight Fire With Fire," "The Four Horsemen," and "Ride the Lightning." So you can probably guess that I like old school Metallica the best. You're right. From best to least, here's Metallica: Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, Kill 'Em All, Black Album, And Justice For All, Load, ReLoad. (Haven't listened to St. Anger). I like '80s Metallica better than '80s Megadeth, but I like Megadeth better than Metallica when you mention the '90s. No, no, no. Metallica didn't "sell out." Honestly, where do people get this crap. The Black Album is the best selling metal album of all time. It's heavy, and best of all, melodic. It's Load and ReLoad without the blues influence, so it's perfect. With Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets as the three thrash trophies of the band, Hetfield, Burton, and Ulrich hit the mark. And Justice For All is great, don't get me wrong, but it's a bit too progressive for my taste. And Load/ReLoad are great, too, but any Megadeth album at the time, like Cryptic Writings or Youthanasia, stomped them. After about track 5 on those albums, I usually choose something else. But Metallica's great, they always will be. And I will buy their new album in September, I promise. :P

Megadeth Hard Rock/Metal
"All-time favorite"
Megadeth was the first band I ever listened to, and I've listened to a lot of metal bands. But Megadeth has the most lasting impression. Why is that? Part of it is Mustaine, the different line-ups, the past, and the lyrics. Mustaine has gone through more crap than most musicians do, and he's kept it together and dished out 11 studio albums since '83. Every album is better than the last, and though his band is second only to Metallica, I believe Megadeth is better. You pick any Metallica album, the Megadeth album nearest it can stand up next to it. And in recent years, especially, I think Megadeth has arisen from its ashes of the late '90s. The three albums released in the decade, The World Needs a Hero, The System Has Failed, and United Abominations have been highlighters of music, I believe. And I consider all Megadeth albums to be awesome. I know some fans are wishy-washy and say everything after Countdown sucked. No, Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings, and yes, I said it-- Risk, are heavy metal albums. Though melodic and softer, '90s Megadeth is just as good as '80s Megadeth. And that's saying a lot, as Megadeth has had a reputation to me. None of their songs sound alike. You listen to most metal albums, you have to check to see what track you're on because every freakin' song is alike. Not Megadeth. It's quality here, people.
