I just heard a leaked version of this album and i must say this album lives up to the growing reputation that Death Cab has for making great albums. It starts of great with a cool, soft, melodic song 'Marching Band Of Manhatten' which fits right along with other future Death Cab classics like 'The Stable Song', and 'I Will Follow You Into The Dark' and ofcourse their first single off the album 'Soul Meets Body' which is a great song to wake up to! This album does however go in a total different direction than their other albums, it's defintely a much more simple affair than they're other albums, it seems to focuse a lot more on simple, light-hearted songs than the mega-riffs of Transatlanticism. This album in, my point of view, isn't as great as Transatlanticism but it certainly isn't a bad album either, and with recent appearances on shows like the OC this should(if theres any justice in the world) be the album that breaks them to stardom over here in the UK. I will defintely go out and buy this album when it comes out on August 30th. Other highlights on this album are 'Different Names..', 'What Sarah Said', 'Brothers On A Hotel Bed' and....infact every song on this album is a highlight!

Transistor Radio M. Ward

M Ward is one of the few great song-writers that has such a unique sound that you instantly know its him from one strum of his guitar. This guy could be probaly the closest thing we ever get to too recreating the good ole days of the classic 1920 to 1950 period of country and blues music. This guy has the same kind of voice as Billie Holiday except that it is a bit more masiculine obviously! And he plays like Johnny Cash, hes brill! The album is a weird affair, some songs can be like classic country(Fuel For Fire for example), some can be like funky latino tunes(Regeneration one) and some songs can sound like they've been taking of a Beatles song book(Big Boat). Theres a lot of great enjoyable tracks on this but nothing matches up to the sensational "Fuel For Fire", which sounds so beautiful, thanks to M Ward's Billie Holiday like vocals, its honestly out of this world! Infact the whole album is! It seriously sounds as though a man from the 1930s has time travelled from then to now! I have nothing else to say about this album other than that. But i defintely recommend this album because chances are that you'll never hear anything like this again!

If you read my review on "X & Y", You'll absolutely know that i love this song! Its just so magical! It starts so delicately with a fantastic organ sound which is just one of those sounds that makes you cry with joy and emotion, which ofcourse gos brilliantly with Chris Martin's soft, delicate vocals and absolutely beautiful, sad lyrics. Although its probaly gonna turn into one of these annoying Comic Relief songs, its still a brilliant song and is my favourite Coldplay by song by far!

As the headline says Coldplay are just utterly brilliant, and the funny thing is that before "X & Y" came out i absolutely hated this band, infact the only reason i bought this album was because it was my Dad's birthday! But how can u not fall in love with this album?! It starts off with the timeless wonderful song that is "Square One" then goes into 2 great songs "What if" and "White Shadows", but even they tunes come no way close to the wonderful, beautiful masterpiece that is "Fix You", which (if theres any justice in this world) should be they're next big hit, infact thats an understatement, this should be classic and i mean a classic! This song should be what Space Oddity is to Bowie! Well actually thats a wee bit of an overstatement but its still a beautiful track! "Talk" and "X & Y" are both great tunes that really go with the album. The next song "Speed Of Sound", in my point of view, although its they're first single from the album, is a bit of a let down. Its not that its bad, it just has nothing on the previous tracks on the album. But thankfully the album picks up with the epic track "Message" which really gets the album going again with Chris Martin's cool, delicate vocals and razar-sharp lyrics. "Low" is a weird song for coldplay, It sorta sounds like The Strokes meet Keane which should be a little rough sounding for a band as delicate as Coldplay, but its still a fairly enjoyable track. "Hardest Part" is a nice delicate song, its not outstanding but its still a pretty nice track to have near the end of an album. "Swallowed In The Sea" should be a very diffucult song to listen to but thanks again too Chris Martin's cool, smart vocals it becomes yet another great, enjoyable track. "Twisted Logic" is another nice track but sometimes is hard to listened due to a bit too much guitar. I think Coldplay try a Radiohead approach with this song but it doesn't work to the extent that they would have liked because it becomes a bit boring. However Coldplay pick up the tempo at the right time with the last track "Til Kingdom Come" which is apparently a Johnny Cash cover. I don't if it is a Johnny Cash cover but it sure as hell sounds like it! This track is pure acoustic and is a very beautiful way to end an album, infact its probaly my favourite track of the actual album! Coldplay haven't really changed much from there previous albums, but in my view Chris Martin has certainly become a much better song writer, and that is saying something!

Making Love Atom & His Package
""
In the world of punk they're is a lot unappreciated bands out there but no one is unappreciated as Atom and His Package. Sure his songs might be a little stupid but lets face it, we love that sort of stuff!! Growing up to stupid shows like Jackass or Dirty Sanchez i personnally love this guy. His music is brass, bold and is funny as hell and in a silly kind of way his songs all make sense! The album itself is great and is probaly the best album Atom could ever hoped to make! The album starts of with funny as hell song "Using The Metric System", which up until this album is probaly the best song he had ever written but it only gets better with great songs like "Hats Off To Halford" and my personnal Joint-Favourite "Pumping Iron For Enya", My other favourite on the album is "He Kissed Me" which is ofcourse about another guy kissing Atom its so funny! I suppose thats whats good about Atom he can take funny stuff like that and make it even more funnier! The album is pretty short for a 17 track album and before you know it, its finished! However this album is one of those rare albums where you can just play it over and over again until your ears give out! For anyone who doesn't know Atom, hes a bit like Blink 182 meet the Teletubies(If you get that in the States). Its basically punk only goofier, and he likes to use the synthesizer a lot more than the good old guitar!
