Memorial Day- Lest We Forget

Soldier

Hey, I love my barbeque as much as anyone, but please let's remember what this day really represents. This website does a great job of reminding us of the significance of Memorial Day:

I wish you all good health, and a meaningful Memorial Weekend!

Summer TV

Well after a lot of great finales I am left with summer shows, reruns, and DVD's. But that isn't all that bad. It's nice to go back and rewatch some favorites and get into other shows that I missed out on.

On DVD I am going to watch/rewatch Smallville 3, all of Nip/Tuck finally for the first time, Lost 1, Veronica Mars 1, and Grey's 1.

With reruns I have gotten into Supernatural and also what I missed of One Tree Hill 3.

My find of the summer though is Entourage. I discovered that we had season 2 on demand and so I quickly got into it and have progressed all the way to the season 3 premiere. We get the new episodes immediately on demand so it is really easy to keep up since I am gone a lot in the summer. I had never gotten into an HBO show because we just recently got it.

The most important part of summer though is Big Brother. And this year should be the best with All Stars. I am so excited it is ridiculous. I hope to see Janelle, James, Howie, Diane, Alison, Dr. Will and many others back in the house.

The Amazing Race 4 will have players answering clues I give them through PMs. Each leg of the race will consist of 4 or more clues, the last being a pitstop. The last person to check into the pitstop on most legs will be eliminated from the game. If you get a clue correct, you will recieve your next clue. If you get it wrong, you must try again. The four types of clues are:

Start Task: This is the clue you will recieve to start off each leg. It could be anything. The start task will also usually give you the chance to use the a Fast Forward. Answering a Fast Forward correctly immediately takes the player to the pitstop (You must still answer the pitstop question). Each player can only use the fast forward once on the entire race, so you may want to wait until it's most advantageous to use it.

Detour: In a detour, players get to pick between two different tasks. They must complete one of the tasks in order to receive their next clue. If a player cannot complete one task, he may switch and attempt to complete the other one. The Detours will also contain the option to Yeild someone. Players can Yeild anyone behind them, and those yeilded must answer an extra clue in order to proceed. Players may only use the yeild once during the race, so use it wisely.

Roadblock: In a roadblock, players will complete a task or answer a question in order to recieve their next clue. Basically, just another clue for you to answer.

Pitstop: This will be your final clue in each Leg. Once you complete the task correctly, you will be checked into the pitstop.

Clue may be questions acout the actual Race, the area your are visiting, other questions, or even puzzles and other tasks.

Time is of the essence, because in most legs, you will start the next leg according to when you finished the last one. Pitstops will begin in increments of 12 hours (I.E. if you finish at 7:45 pm, you could start the next day at 7:45 am, or 7:45 pm, etc.). There will be up to five bunch up legs throughout the leg. In a bunch up leg, everyone starts at the same time. This causes those in front to lose their lead, but gives those behind a chance to catch up (Hey, they have these often in the real race. Also, there will be three Non-elimination Legs scattered through the race. In these legs, whoever arrives last will not be eliminated, but will recieve a time penalty for the next leg, causing them to start far behind.

What Goes?
I didn't get anything spectacular for Christmas. I couple of DVDs and some gift cards. Just the usual. It seems to be a bit of a let down after. New Years coming up this weekend though!

America's obession: Death/Rape
What is up with the viewership of shows these days. From ER, to CSI almost everyone of the hightest rated showes are very graphically violent.
ER, Csi, Ncsi, Prison Break, Lost,24, Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, Greys Antonomy. Most of these are beating the ratings of the second highest rated comedy ( not counting Desperate Houswives).
All of these show death, and America seems obsessed. ER and Greys Anatomy shows people dieing, or on there death bed almost every mintue of the show. They are cutting people open, blood is everywhere. And in the last episode of ER one of their main patiences was a young girl who was raped many times as the docters pointed out.
While shows like lost, Csi, and Ncsi are probably the best of the showes i listed. Lost just has people being hunted down every episode, in the Csi's every episode deals with some elaborate death.
The worst two that i have seen is Law and order SVU or Prison break. Law and order Svu normally just dosent have a murder, but somehow it involves rape, or even wife beating. And in the last prision break episode i saw. (i dont know peoples names sry) The same people who set up his father(ithink), came into his house shot to innocent people that just came back from shopping and then set up the crime scene so it looked like the child did it. And at the end of the episode it appeared that the vice president was in on this.
Now im not trying to lecture you about what to watch or not. Im just making an observation on what america's viewing trends are.

I'm leaving the site
Well, after 147 days (303 including TVTome) and 2000 posts, I'm leaving this site, mainly for the reason that I think that I have spent too much time here. I might occasionally haunt the forums, and I will check my PMs, but that's all. If you're angry about this, just PM me as soon as possible, or comment here requesting a reassuring PM from yours truly.

There is good news. You can always reach me on AIM, and I will be sticking around until the end of the Survivor game and Amazing Race game. You can PM me anytime you want, and I'll give my guide to the 8th caller. And it would be great if one of you could mention this in an Off Topic thread.

Jmarsh89, logging out.

Random Thoughts about TV and not....
so, obviously, i don't have a lot of time to blog... but rather than working tomorrow, i only need to go to the red cross for a cpr class..and to the hospital, so i am splurging and staying up late...

i've had a lot on my plate lately..i am saving to go on a two week road trip to florida and elsewhere on christmas break, so i have been working a lot..plus, i've had a bit of a tragedy in my world. as some of you know, i teach kindergarten, and a girl in my class, Joplin, was hit by a car this past weekend. she experienced damage to her liver and spleen, which should heal just fine..and her legs, which, with the help of screws and such should also heal...the part we are all worried about is the damage to her brain... her scalp was pushed back on her head, if that gives you any indication to the massive impact her head experienced...right now, 6 days later, she has just opened her eyes, and she hasn't spoken at all...
anyway, i don't mean to be a downer, but if you're the praying type, please send some prayers joplin's way...and if you aren't, maybe you can send some healing thoughts anyway...thank you.

on a lighter note, i can't believe how nicely the survivor game has gone so far... i've been afraid that the other players don't think i am serious about the game due to infrequent and slow posting, but as i said..i'm a busy person. my low scores on the challenges are embarassing, but i haven't seen any of these seasons since they originally aired.. no reruns, no dvds, no nothing...and i haven't done any prior studying or cheating, either...so i haven't remembered a lot of details.. ay, there's the rub..

so..fall tv is starting, though i am afraid i am already missing things..i have the first episode of reunion and the first four (i think?) epsiodes of prison break waiting for me to watch them... maybe i can make some time for that sunday.. admist football and nascar and golfing and stuff.. the premiere of House and Survivor were both incredible, this week, and i am REALLY anxious for Lost to premiere...and the amazing race... those are my favorite shows...with a little stewie thrown in, of course..

i tried out "bones," (mainly because it was on before house) and although i liked the premise and the characters (esp. "bones")(i used to want to be an anthropologist, so i could relate a little bit), i found that i wasn't really interested in seeing the end of the "mystery"

well, this is a really long blog post..i suppose normal people would have made this into several posts, but no one could accuse me of being normal...
