I am just going to get this out of the way right here, The Flaming lips are in a genre of their own. They have been able to create an underground (And at times above it too) noise which over time has tried to, and done, the way we listen to music.

Now that may not make sense to someone who doesnt know about the lips but ill try to explain it, your going to find yourself saying that alot when talking about them. They have had an incredible history of revolutionary noisemaking and songwriting and have even found themselves conducting experiements of noise and perception. They have even gone as far as setting up over a dozen cars and played tracks at the same time which were meant to overlap to create a new audio experience. This is bizarre indeed.

Their music is, in my mind, soothing to your very core and moving at the same time. It starts the car but makes the ride smooth as silk. A varied creation of electronic noises and various things I cannot even place wash over you in a sensuous experience.

Needless to say, the flaming lips are meant to be heard, not talked about. Get your hands on some of their music soon.

This group from Norway took me by absolute suprise, and it was one of the best suprises ive ever had.

The group is a blend of European Folk and modern Rock, it sounds absolutely bizarre but they accomplish a sounds which ends up creating a large array of moods and emotions.

The haunting sounds that are created by their blend of modern and classic intruments has been molded in such a way to create feelings unknown to many groups of today. They are able to accomplish so much with this blending of styles that it is not simply conceived as a gimmick but as a mindset for their group and creates enough material for every song to feel differant and inspirational.

I believe this group is one of the strongest groups of groundbreakers on the scene today, and deserves a listening by anyone, if only to experience it.
