Merry Christmas to my fellow tv.commers!!
I hope you enjoy time with your friends and family!!

I hope you all are doing well this Christmas. Getting presents sorted, wrapped and tagged ready to be ripped open by friends and family. Any of those preparing a Christmas dinner be sure to play it safe and not burn down the house.

If anyone, like me, has nasty weather pulling in...leave early to allow for others on the road that didn't. We have a Winter Storm Warning issued for our area, this should be fun. It has been raining for over 24 hour's straight here. Come tonight it will change over to freezing rain, then to sleet then to snow...blah. Ice and sleet accumulation is possible, with 5-9 inches of snow possible. Now I haven't had a white Christmas since we lived in Minnesota, so needless to say my kids are very excited about maybe getting a white Christmas. I have told them not to get their hopes up too high; in the off chance the storm misses us.

Now I have all my presents wrapped, food shopping done, menu planned and family coming over to spend the day and enjoy. Then on Saturday we will pack up and go to my friend's house to exchange gifts. On New Year's Day we will be going to my Grandma's for Christmas there. I think that about does it for my holiday activities.

How will you guys be spending your holidays? Any special traditions that you guys have? What about must haves on the dinner menu? Fill me in.

Back to work for me. Be safe this holiday season and be good to one another.

Ok guys I am gonna jet, I have lots to do. Enjoy!!

Later Taters!!

FYI.....! (An Update + are all my SVU friends still here?)

Well HI THERE, STRANGERS!!! Its been a while. Anyways, so I was actually thinking about this site, and how long its been since I've even posted a blog or posted on any forums! So I thought I'd come on and just give an update. This is also really interesting for me, because I've been thinking, I'm in YEAR 12 next year! I joined this site when I was in year 8, and I've since realised how much I have grown up since then. You know that teacher I was practically in LOVE with for the past three years? Well, this was his last year. He left three weeks ago, at the end of term. I think I'm okay, but I have been feeling kind of lonely and let down, knowing that I'm not going to see him again. But other than that, I'm okay.

My Grandad died in the end of October. There's so much that upsets me, especially knowing that Christmas is coming up, and my family is going to be really sad. There's a lot of sh!t that upsets me still, but I think I'm dealing with it okay.... I think.

GUESS WHAT! I was made editor of Pink! I was really excited, but luckily for me, nobody had tried to submit anything, because I haven't been on here in ages. But I'm going to try and come on a bit more often (TRY TO).

I think the reason I don't come on here so muchis because everyone that I used to talk to every single day has gone.... I think its the age thing. The older I got, the less I came on. All my friends on here have "moved on" I guess. I wish you guys came on more often, because you all helped me through a LOT of sh!t when I was younger. But I do understand why you don't come on more often.

Please let me know how you all are!

Absentee Landlords

You know what really yanks my chain?

Lots of things, actually. But my big beef for 2009 is the number of neglected guides sitting under inactive editors. It seems that some people are keener on acquiring guides than they are on looking after them.

It's not a question of being MIA. Editors who simply stop visiting are eventually dismissed under the ReportMIAEditor protocol. Some editors are occasional visitors, not logging on often enough to meet their obligation to consider submissions within seven days, but often enough to avoid sanction. That means unseemly delays while we wait for the approval of submissions, but that's only really inconvenient when a show is currently airing.

Some editors, whether occasional or frequent visitors to the site, seem to have stopped submitting to guides they edit, often on the day they were awarded the editorship. That may be fair enough for guides to old shows that are substantially complete, but there are many guides to currently-airing or recently-ended shows that are in a very sorry state.

I do a lot of credit consolidation work and this prompts me to visit a number of guides each week. A surprising number of recently-added guides to recently-aired shows have no editors. Elsewhere, editors preside over guides to older shows that are no more than skeletons, despite the ready availability of the information needed to knock the guides into shape; guides to currently-airing shows that haven't had an episode guide added in months; plagiarised, mis-spelled and synopsis-free episode guides; guides for which no writer, director or cast have been added since the current editor took over. For good or ill, it has long been the case that the presence of an editor appears to act as a deterrent to potential contributors, many of whom apparently prefer to submit to editorless guides.

The activities of some editors has certainly put me off submitting to guides they edit. Those who reject valid submissions, post or approve plagiarised synopses, add episodes that don't meet the two out of three criterion, add "coming soon" summaries, add show stars but not guests, or just the odd guest, to episodes. I've been holding back from carrying out essential repair work on many of these guides in the hope that someday, TV.com staff would enforce the Problem Editor protocol. It seems that no amount of transgression merits any kind of sanction, however.

Happily, I've just completed the latest phase of work on guides that I edit. I've still to add some production credits to some, and to sort cast and crew lists for others, but I'm happy to let that duty take a back seat while I do grunt work on some of the neglected guides to British shows. Shows like... Can I mention them here? The editors in question know who they are, and which guides I mean. You'll see a lot more in the way of submissions from me from now. Enjoy!

So long, farewell!
It's currently 10:03pm here in Sydney, tomorrow morning I need to be up at 5am to catch the plane on time and I'm still packing! I am a very very bad packer. I cannot pack lightly. I'm trying to shove my entire wardrobe into my little suitcase and both my parents are yelling at me to only take the essentials. But I keep freaking out that I will need all this random stuff. I just spent an hour trying to fit 9 pairs of shoes in my backpack, with my mum glaring at me and shaking her head. She made me remove 6 of my shoes. I feel so empty inside.

And it's so much worse that it'll be winter over there. At least summer clothes are all nice and small. I just put A warm coat, a raincoat, a leather jacket, tracksuit pants and Half-Blood Prince in my luggage and it's already full. Grr. I'm not even taking any Twilight books, because my friend wanted to borrow them while I was away and I couldn't refuse because I'm too freaking nice. Gah.

I think our plane trip to Tokyo is about 10 hours. I'm quite excited for that actually, I love plane trips. It's just eating and sleeping and sitting and watching tv, which is pretty much what I do all the time anyways. My iPod is fully charged too and loaded with dozens of new podcasts to listen to, including Buffy Between the Lines season 1! Plus I put Glee on there
And we're staying in Tokyo for 4 nights. I just got my travel card done loaded up with a few months of pay and I plan to take a nice long walk down Harajuku and spend spend spend! I will come back home with the quirkiest stuff, I'm very excited. Then after that we're going to Rome for a week, where we'll pick up our hired car and drive around Northern Italy for a few more days. Not that exciting, I've been there and it's all traffic and old smelly historical buildings that I don't really care about. Then we're driving down to Sicily and going pretty much everywhere there. Then finally going to a small down at the very south called Avola where my grandmother and aunt live, and we're staying there over Christmas and New Years. I think we're staying there for the rest of January as well, but we're probably gonna go to Egypt, Malta and London, for like a day thing. Like I said, not too overly excited about Italy, but oh well. I'm mainly looking forward to Japan. There's an Irish pub behind our hotel and a KFC in front of it. Chicken and beer: I'm set! It'll be like I never even left home.

I'm bringing my laptop and might get access to wireless internet every now and then, but not often. I won't be able to check my mod queue once a week. I get back Febuary 4 2010, and I hope it's still gonna be warm here when I get back. I can't stand the thought of losing Summer. It's gonna be a hot one this year, I can tell. It's only November now and it's already hit 42 degrees celcius. Damn gradual yet inevitable heating of the Earth's core! I really shouldn't have watched 2012.

Trundling along :)

Once again, it has been a while Sorry about that, but I figure most people really aren't that interested in the minutia of my everyday life. Really, it's pretty boring - get up at o'dark hundred, shower, dress, pack lunch, make coffee, collect the bits for my bag'o'tricks, walk the dog, go to work, come home, walk the dog, have something resembling food (occasionally challenging, considering cooking for one it a bit of a pain), walk the dog at least once more, fall into bed, then wash, rinse and repeat for the rest of the week See? Pretty boring, no?

Having bored you to tears with the monotony of my days, I do have to admit that there have been some new and exciting things going on I got another cat!

Milo kitty

His name is Milo, I was told he's about five years old (though my vet said that once a cat reaches maturity age is difficult to tell, but we stick with five years just for the sake of argument) and he's a rescue. He was found either abandoned or as a lost stray and was taken in by a shelter who cleaned him up and put him up for adoption. When I saw him, someone had already paid his fee in the hopes that he would be taken home by the end of the day Enter me He's a sweetie, he really is. He's been neutered and declawed, so someone at some point loved him, and his only issue was that he's seriously underweight. We're working on the weight issue with a combination of kitten food and regular kibble (Jakjak loves it! little pig that he is) and he's been eating regularly for a couple weeks now. There is something going on with him, he's developed an eye infection which is proving annoyingly tenacious, but hopefully we'll get that cured before I wind up owing the vet too much money.

Other than that, I suppose there hasn't been that much new and exciting. There are a few new shows I'm watching, though none have been entertaining enough to write a rant/review of them. I've even managed to get about 6 eps behind on Supernatural, though that was because I had missed the first ep and had to go find it. I have been recording all my shows in HD this season - figured since I'm paying for the HD pvr box I might as well get my money's worth, and boy, some of the shows are just so pretty, CSI:Miami in particular. I haven't noticed a particular colour theme in any of the eps so far, but the colours are all so pretty maybe I'm just missing it.

I got a new breadmaker yesterday.

B&D All In One B2250

I like bread, but I don't eat much of it and when I buy it it often ends up going mouldy, even when I keep it in the fridge. So, I hauled out my old breadmaker so I could make my bread on demand and it stuffed up two loaves in a row. Considering it was about 15 years old, I'm not really surprised that it wasn't working so well anymore. So, it just happened that my grocery store was having a clearance sale on a lot of the kitchen toys they stock, so I got this one (basically an updated version of the old one) for 25% off. I'm test driving it now, while I write this, so here's hoping it all works out well.

I've finished a couple of baby blankets for someone at work - one of our dispatchers had a little granddaughter, and the first blanket was made using mint green and white before she knew what flavour the baby was going to be, so she commissioned a second one in pink after Charleigh was born. Since I finished that last week I've pulled out a sweater that I started a few years ago. It was mostly done, I'd finished the knitting a long time ago, and sewn it together as well as weaving in all the ends. All that was left to do was to was the front border, but I'd misplaced first the yarn and then the pattern. It took a whole whopping two days to finish a sweater I'd had put away for about two years... sigh...

Anyway, that's about it for the excitement in my life - I know, it's not a lot, but for my loyal three, I hope that catches you up

The X in the Y

^.^ it's a very themed blog title, well blog in genral. You'll find out why if you read on. If you're bored already, just have you're way with my comment box and go

Hey Sailors,

blogging again so soon I know, your brains just imploded right? Yeah it's pretty shocking. Truth is, I'm blogging solely for the purposes of procrastination. Avoiding the horrors that accompany the task of studying for Ancient History ---> exam on Monday. Shhh, but don't tell my profile eh? I don't want to hurt his poor profilic feelings by finding out that I'm using him. Yes, my profile is male, and yes that does make me strange. Lap it up, but let's get off that tangent; so exams: I've already done both English Advanced papers and Studies of Religion, so four more to go and then it's all television, all the time. FTB.

It's pretty sweet for my Extension English one exam, I get to use Kathy Reichs as a related text, so five hours of reading Deja Dead is constituted as study hehe.

I finished The X-Files! The finale was legendary, and I know the Truth now, so beware, I'm armed. My favourite parts of the two part episode was the shipper moments [of course]. And I loved having Mulder back. Some of his lines where hilarious.

Best Moments

Before anything else the absolutely best quote in this whole episode, maybe in the whole of season 8 and 9, it had me literally rolling on the floor:

MULDER: I smelled you coming, Clarice.

Some other pretty profound quotes were:

REYES: What is the point of all of this? To destroy a man who seeks the truth or to destroy the truth so no man can seek it? Either way, you lose.

And

SCULLY: You've always said that you want to believe. But believe in what Mulder? If this is the truth that you've been looking for then what is left to believe in?

MULDER: I want to believe that the dead are not lost to us. That they speak to us as part of something greater than us-- greater than any alien force. And if you and I are powerless now, I want to believe that if we listen to what's speaking, it can give us the power to save ourselves.

SCULLY: Then we believe the same thing.

Mulder pretending to blow off Scully

*fans self* squeeee

The Cigarette Smoking Man incinerated? THAT is some serious ironic bird feedage.

Pure genius to end in the beginning, they paralleled the first time MS bonded in the pilot for the final scene.

I've also been playing with icons from the finale, but because of the HSC I've only finished one good one. Not my usual, but nice.

And I found an awweeesome source of all things The X-Files that hooked me up with these frell-tastic gifs.

Oh and seeing as we're on the topic of finale's, I finished Kyle XY the other day too, talk about DUD. Completely hopeless ending. It's like they thought "let's just tack on a mandatory twist ending and fade to black." No closure, felt so ripped off. Very disappointed.

BOOONNNESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSss tomorrow ---->The Bond in the Boot, I'm soooo exicted. I spoilered myself about the plumbing scene, plus the ads have been showing it too. AND It's been confirmed that Zooey is going to be in the Christmas episode squeeeeeee. And And and there's is going to be a Bones episode titled 'The X in the File'. I'm in television heaven! I swear. Too bad you guys in the U.S have to wait a month for new Bones because of the baseball

---

That's all for now, I really didn't have a point to this blog. btw updated my About Me.

Yes, I have Been Away

Hey all,

As many of you have probably noticed, I've been away a while. I had some health issues that needed to be tended to and I was off tending to them. I'm okay now, feeling much better. I apologize to everyone for not getting back to them or letting anyone know ahead of time. It all happened kind of quickly. I'm back now and trying to catch up, so if you wouldn't mind taking it easy on me for a bit I would appreciate it. The rest of the staff has done a bang up job covering in my absence and I thank them sincerely. I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things quickly. Hope this finds everyone well. - Dan

Forum search update

We released an update to the GameSpot forum search today. The changes were made to provide more reliable search results and make the forums perform a bit better.

The searches are now running on the Sphinx search server. Sphinx is designed for full-text searches and is a perfect match for the forums. Because the searches are running on the Sphinx server they no longer cause general forum slowdowns when a large # of searches are done at once.

If you are interested, there are a few tips & tricks you can now do to get more specific search results.

The "|" character allows you to do an OR search. e.g., search for: mario | zelda

The "+" character allows you to require a word to be part of the search. e.g., search for: (mario | zelda) +time

If you surround your search term in quotes (") then it will search for that exact combined term. See the difference between: of legend and "of legend" You'll notice that The Legend of Zelda is not included in the second search.

Good luck & good searching!

Old Days

It's weird.

I don't know why I'm blogging about it.

But I miss when I was active in TV.com.

Like, a new blog each week, a few probably.

A couple of editorships every week or fortnight

Tracking people, haven't done that in ages.

Being apart of a few forums.

Commenting on people's blogs.

And, the most important one, knowing a lot of the more active people on here.

Now, I only know a few people.

It kinda sucks to not be as involved in the site like I used to be

---

Anyone else want to be more active in the site again?

My of the Day. Can You Guess Who Does It?

Blades of Glory

I’m a lone wolf in a cage
Lost my partner to a lie
Like a bird with broken wings, yeah
It’s impossible to fly
I tried to live for two
But only trust in one
Is there nothing that we can do?
Are we truly done?
Every day we do or die
As we’re sailin’ across the sky
Now we’re comin’ home
On these blades of glory
Settin’ fire to the ice
Is the dream that keeps us alive
Now we’re comin’ home
On these blades of glory
Could this be the end
of our mythic story?
I don’t know what to say
I don’t know where to turn
All I know is if I stay
Ooh this ice it sure can burn
A man who’s scared of truth
Can only trust in lies
A boy who’s scared to dream
Can never touch the sky, oh yeah
Every day we do or die
As we’re sailin’ across the sky
Now we’re comin’ home
On these blades of glory
Settin’ fire to the ice
Is the dream that keeps us alive
Now we’re comin’ home
On these blades of glory
Today is the first chapter
Of our mythic story
We’ll never part
On these blades of glory
And we’ll cross our hearts
On these blades of glory
What do you say
Tonight we celebrate
By going out our way, yeah
O-oo-oh, let’s go all the way, yeah
It’s our calling
Every day we do or die
As we’re sailin’ across the sky
Now we’re comin’ home
On these blades of glory
Settin’ fire to the ice
Is the dream that keeps us alive
Now we’re comin’ home
On these blades of glory
Blades of glory
We’ll go all night
‘Til we finish the story
Now we’re comin’ home
On these blades of glory
The dream is alive
And we’ll never be sorry
Now we’re comin’ home
On these blades of glory

Or

She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene
I said don't mind, but what do you mean I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round
She said I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round

She told me her name was Billie Jean as she caused a scene
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round

People always told me be careful what you do
Don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
My mother always told me be careful who you love
Be careful what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth, yeah

Billie Jean is not my lover
She is just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

For forty days and for forty nights the law was on her side
But who can stand when she's in demand, her schemes and her plans
'cause we danced on the floor in the round
So take my strong advice
Just remember to always think twice
Do think twice

She told my baby we danced 'til three And she looked at me, and showed me a photo
My baby cried, his eyes where like mine
Can we dance on the floor in the round

People always told me be careful what you do
Don’t go around breaking young girls’ hearts
But she came and stood right by me
Just to smell her sweet perfume
This happened much too soon
She called me to her room

Billie Jean is not my lover
She is just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
Not my son

Billie Jean is not my lover
She is just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid's not my son
Not my son

A man walks into a bar and asks the bartender, "If I show you a really good trick, will you give me a free drink?" The bartender considers it, then agrees. The man reaches into his pocket and pulls out a tiny rat. He reaches into his other pocket and pulls out a tiny piano. The rat stretches, cracks his knuckles, and proceeds to play the blues.

After the man finished his drink, he asked the bartender, "If I show you an even better trick, will you give me free drinks for the rest of the evening?" The bartender agrees, thinking that no trick could possibly be better than the first. The man reaches into his pocket and pulls out a tiny rat. He reaches into his other pocket and pulls out a tiny piano. The rat stretches, cracks his knuckles, and proceeds to play the blues. The man reaches into another pocket and pulls out a small bullfrog, who begins to sing along with the rat's music.

While the man is enjoying his beverages, a stranger confronts him and offers him $100,000.00 for the bullfrog. "Sorry," the man replies, "he's not for sale." The stranger increases the offer to $250,000.00 cash up front. "No," he insists, "he's not for sale." The stranger again increases the offer, this time to $500,000.00 cash. The man finally agrees, and turns the frog over to the stranger in exchange for the money.

"Are you insane?" the bartender demanded. "That frog could have been worth millions to you, and you let him go for a mere $500,000!" "Don't worry about it." the man answered. "The frog was really nothing special. You see, the rat's a ventriloquist."

And the answer is...
2. Moving to Washington, DC to go to grad school!

I'm rather pleased that several of you were thinking #3. (moving to NY) or #4. (freelance food writing) were in my future though! Maybe once I'm done with grad school ;-)

For those of you who did choose #4, I've actually got a blog in the works at jaxiecracks.blogspot.com where I'm hoping to integrate my food and traveling adventures with my impending graduate studies. There's nothing up yet, but I hope you'll join me there once I build it out!

And finally, one last picture to close out my time here:

Thanks for all your support everyone! Keep on truckin'!

Submission Guidelines - Just a Repost
Nothing too thrilling here. Just thought I'd repost the submission guidelines I use. They appear on the forums of all currently-airing shows I edit, but better to have them here then in the forum of every show I edit.

-----

1 ) Look at what's already on the page. If there's nothing there yet, look at another episode page. If you want to know what name to use for a regular character (Dick vs. Captain Richard), or if a name should be bolded, or whether there should be double-spacing between quote lines, or whether quotation marks should be used, or where to use italics, do what's already been done. If you're not sure how to do the XHTML, click on Edit for an existing entry and see how it's done.

2 ) Don't steal from another site. Except for Quotes, everything should be in your own words (and that includes quote contextual material). Even summaries based on press releases should be rewritten as "your content." It's a TV.com requirement, it's copyright, and it's common courtesy.

3 ) Be accurate and provide a source. Unless you're an incredibly fast typist/writer and have an incredible ear for dialogue, pause the recording. Rewind. Transcribe the dialogue, rewind again, double-check. For episodes that haven't aired yet, always provide an original verifiable source in Comments. Provide as complete a URL as possible: if I can't find it, I can't accept it.

4 ) If you edit, use Comments to tell me what you're editing and why. Be specific. "Fixing 2 typos." doesn't help. "Changed "his" to "her" in third paragraph, changed "their" to "they're" in second paragraph" does. If something should be deleted, mark it for deletion and put the explanation in Comment, don't "argue" or give a "response."

5 ) Know basic grammar and punctuation. "I" is capitalized. Names are capitalized. Sentences get periods at the end (or question marks or exclamation marks). A single space goes after most punctuation except at the end of a sentence. Know the difference between "its" and "it's." ("It's" = "It is"). When speaking to someone and using their name, a comma goes before and after their name. "It's true that I love you, Fred, but I love you too, George." is correct. "Its true that i love you fred but I love you too,George" is not.

6 ) Don't duplicate. Particularly for major plot points, if the info is in the Recap, it doesn't need to be in Notes or Trivia. If a quote appears entirely in Allusions, it doesn't need to be in Quotes as well. Click on More Quotes/Trivia/Notes. You typically don't see everything on the episode's main page.

7 ) Don't anticipate. That's part of being accurate. Don't go by previews--sometimes scenes get cut or another version used when the episode goes to air. Don't assume an Allusion will be an allusion until you see the episode.

8 ) It's not personal. Don't insert stuff like "I" or "Don't you think" or "We all know..." Stick to the factual and put opinions, analysis, and speculation into your review.

9 ) Quotes. Quotes should be memorable, significant, and/or humorous. They should stand on their own and make sense to someone who hasn't seen the show, and represent quality writing. Don't use quotes just to "prove" something or indicate a key moment if the words aren't otherwise memorable, significant, or humorous. Try to focus on the key line or lines and avoid three paragraphs of "set up" quotes. Bold the speaker name, then put in an unbolded colon, then a space, then the line quote. Don't put quotation marks around each line. Hit a single Return/Enter for the next speaker's line. Contextual explanations should be used as little as possible, be as short as possible, put in parentheses, and italicized. For episodes that aren't currently premiering, a time code in the Comment section is preferred.

10 ) Notes. As per TV.com standards, Notes is for off-screen production-related stuff. Stuff the characters wouldn't know. Background music, special credit info, relevant background on the actors, in-jokes, etc. "What else they've been in" and "They're best known for" and "They've worked together before" is covered by the cast list section and its links, unless there's some kind of in-joke involved.

11 ) Trivia. As per TV.com standards, Trivia is for obscure yet on-screen stuff the viewer might not notice. This includes goofs. Plot points and other obvious stuff are often spoilers and are not Trivia--they should go in the Recap. According to TV.com guidelines, Trivia is not merely a catchall for anything that doesn't fit in the other categories. Nor is it the place for fan theories or speculation, or goofs based on same.

12 ) Allusions. As per TV.com standards, Allusions are for cultural references--other TV shows, movie, films, books. Always provide the single line of the quotation first that contains the Allusion (formatted as #9 above), then a single return, then the explanation. Internal continuity is pretty common in TV shows so unless it's obscure (Trivia), it's not an Allusion. The explanation (not cut-n-pasted) should be detailed enough that someone unfamiliar with the allusion can understand: roughly 20-50 words, one paragraph. Word definitions and translations are not Allusions (or Trivia or Notes, either). Allusions are deliberate and typically something the writers have the characters say. Allusions should be unique and reference the original source whenever possible, rather then another show that references the original source.

13 ) Summaries and Recaps. Summaries should be short and not give away any spoilers. Recaps should be a complete scene-by-scene account of the episode, without stage directions or meta-references like "In this scene...". Actor names don't go in summaries or recaps. Write it like you'd write a reference book entry. Don't include real-life info ("This season," actor listings, etc.). Save quotes for the Quote section (see #9 above).

-----

One last thing. If you submit something and it's rejected, remember: it's nothing personal. These standards are in place to promote accuracy, readability, and keep the episode pages from being too "cluttered" with extraneous info. If you get a rejection, read the Comments I provide, come here and look at these guidelines, and PM me if you have any questions. Some folks I had to reject the first time are now my most prolific contributors.

Anyway, after Monday I get the rest of the week off before three more weeks of school, and then it's winter holidays! woo.

Averaging in my subjects:
Literature - 75, I think. Exam score is surely going to bring that down.

Introductory Calculus - 83. xD I'll probably get about around a 65 for the exam.
Geometry + Trigonometry - Also stuffed up
my 86 average with one bloody test.
Career + Enterprise - Definite A. Teacher was very impressed with my use of the word existentialist. xD

My birthday on the 30th!
Also happy end of the financial year. (Happy E

Week 22 (24th-30th May): The Week That Was in TV

The last week of May was a very interesting one in Aussie TV. TV network giants Seven & Nine, who are always dominant of the industry, were given a little bit of a wake up call by the other, much smaller networks, Ten, SBS & ABC. It's also become very apparent this year that local Aussie shows are winning the ratings over the US mega-hits for the first time ever.

Seven won the week in ratings again with a 27.5% share. Followed by Nine (25.7%), Ten (24.2%), ABC (17.5%) & SBS (5.2%).

Top Shows This Week:
1. Seven News Sunday - Seven
2. Masterchef Challenge - Ten
3. Nine News - Nine
4. Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation - Ten
5. Seven News - Seven
6. Spicks & Specks - ABC
7. NCIS - Ten
8. The Chasers War on Everything - ABC
9. Thank God You're Here - Seven
10. Merlin - Ten

If you compare this week with week 22 in the TV calendar 3 years ago in 2006, 6 out of the top 10 shows of the week were international, including Lost, Desperate Housewives, Greys Anatomy, CSI & House. In 2009, its rare to have more than 1 international show making the list! Anyone have an idea as to why the change over the years?

- Former AFL Footy Show host Eddie McGuire has been asked by the nine network to return, claming it would boost ever-falling ratings.

- 24 star Kiefer Sutherland insists that he does not think that he is 'the real Jack Bauer' after a head-butting incident on the Jimmy Fallon Show.

- The Steven Spielberg / Tom Hanks upcoming mini-seires The Pacific is due to air in 2010 & big international markets in countries like the UK, Germany, Canada & France have already bought the rights to air i. The Pacific is a follow up of the sucessfull mini-series Band of Brothers and will follow the stories of the allies battle's in the Pacific theatre of WWII.

- The Australian Communications & Media Authority announced that Channel Nine has topped the commerical free-to-air broadcasters in delivering locally-produced adverts in 2008. Aussie networks are required to screen locally-made ads for at least 80% of their ads that show between 6am & midnight.

- CANCELLED: My Name is Earl.

- ABC has bought an assortment of content from BBC including the third series of Robin Hood as well as Life, Yellowstone, Nature's Great Events, Human Journey, Later...with Jools Holland & Being Erica.

Really?!

WARNING: LONG angry blog ensues.

Why?

Why is it that all the shows I watch seem to never follow through with what they build up?

First of all, let's start with SVU. Now that's a given. I sorta gave up on watching Law and Order SVU primarily because the tension between elliot and Olivia that has been built up for years is now pretty much nonexistent. No more close moments, heart-to-hearts...no more eye-sex. Nothing. Where is the sexual tension that we used to see back in Season 6-7? Where's the "You're the longest relationship I've ever had with a man" feelings? What, now that Elliot has knocked up Kathy yet again, only prolonging an already broken marriage, Olivia pretends her feelings for Elliot have never existed? What is it with writers these days?!

After giving up on SVU, I started making up for the lack of shipping with House and Cuddy's interesting dynamic. Finally, a show that was actually going forward with built up sexual tension...Or so I thought. I started watching soon after I saw the Huddy kiss, which felt so....satisfying. Relieving. But of course, it was something that was only momentary and they both have since fallen back to their unrequited love phase. Post-huddy kiss episodes have been riling with explosive sexual tension, from House indirectly complimenting Cuddy, to Cuddy's longing looks at House....It was pretty much obvious at this point that eventual 'tension relief' was inevitable.

Which brings me to the last couple of episodes of House. The Huddy excitement begins in Under My Skin, when House retreats to Cuddy's office and asks her to help him with detoxing. Cuddy agrees and, after a long night of unpleasant nausea, withdrawal, and utter misery on House's part, Cuddy admits her feelings towards House. There is a long pause. They are both staring at each other. Both acknowledge they are alone. Awkward, yet HOT and WELCOMING sexual tension ensues...which culminates in hot, fiery passionate sex.

The finale was much invited as well for Huddy fans around the world. House's expected pompous attitude over his deed was definitely entertaining, as well as Cuddy's attempts to forget about what happened the night before. All was well, until the last ten minutes of the finale, which just blew me away...in a BAD way.

Which brings me to this point.

REALLY?!

Really, House TPTB? Was it really necessary to make everything all part of House's hallucinations?! I felt so cheated, betrayed, and fooled. For once, I thought there was actually a show out there that followed through with a relationship, but apparently I was blatantly wrong. For once, I thought House was going to be happy, for once I thought House was truly not in pain. But of course, the writers decided it would be nice to pull the rug right out from under all of us and make it all, well, an illusion. a figment of House's imagination--mentally ill imagination, to be exact. And now, we are back to square one. except now, it is more apparent that House is pining for Cuddy, which makes it all the more painful to watch now that we know that the Huddy romance of these last couple of episodes never happened.

I have never been more disappointed about a show in my life. I don't even know what is worse--SVU for pretending that EO no longer exists, or House for deceiving everyone.

There is really no purpose for me to watch TV nowadays. It's not like I even had a TV to watch here in the first place.
