Games I bought This Month. Oct. 09///Gaming Updates Vol. 10
1. Skate (X360)- 7.5 (The first time I played this I had borrowed it from my Brother, and loved it, so I bought a copy for myself)
2. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 (X360) - 7.0
3. Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble (GC) - 6.9 (I re-bought this after my incident with those idiots at GameStop)
4. Viva Pinata (X360) - 8.3
5. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (X360)- 8.7
Good News: I saved $7.70 on these games with my Edge card. Bad News: I haven't started any of them. ![]()
I've started a couple new games this month: Shenmue 2 and Syberia, both great games, but the former is better to me. I beat The Bard's Tale, which was a pretty good game, definitely clever, the whole game had a sarcasm about it for almost the entire time, and I loved that, the story was quite cliche, but the game actually embraced it (in a humorous manner of course). The snarky or nice comment thing that you could use was ok, but it could have been used a bit more often, and also could have beenbroadened out to have more of an effect on the game as a whole. Also I played Civilization 3 and loved it, I actually thought it was hard to win (probably on account of me playing through 5 different campaigns and always retiring), none-the-less it is an amazing strategy game, definitely a classic. So you guys can be expecting a review for The Bard's Tale, I haven't written one in a while because it takes me quite a while to write them, because I want it to be good, as for Civ. 3 I'll probably just rate it.
Also, I'd like to tell you guys that after this blog I will be making some changes to my blogging, but only to my Gaming Updates blogs, which will now have more zing and pep (one way will be by changing the traditional styled title and taking a more modern, hip, and cool approach
), and will cover more subjects than just games. So everyone, that is it, and......hm, I should think of a really cool phrase to end with.....how about: Over and Out? Tat Ta? Blog Ya' Later? Suggestions? No,I'm serious, suggestions.
I've Been Tagged!
AlmightMax tagged me, and since these blogs are relatively easy I decided that I'd make one. And once again sorry for the lack of blogs. And I can't remember whether I do 10 or 15 facts, so I'm going to compromise and do 12.
1. I live in the oh-so-glorious state of Indiana.
2. I have 3 pets, the 4th isn't a pet, but a beast.....it's a Chihuahua.
3. Lately I've been listening toalot of The Clash's music, don't worry none of it is from "Cut The Crap".
4. I wish Jeff Buckley would have never died. R.I.P.
5. When I was young, very young infact, I knocked a glass fish tank (it actually had frogs in it) over my head, I don't remember it to well, but I doknow that it didn't feel too good. ![]()

8. Last Friday my game collection officially reached 101 games! I knocked it over 99 with Viva Pinata, and Command and Conquer: Tiberium Wars.

Games I bought this month. Sep. 09///Gaming Updates Vol. 9
1. StarOcean: Till The End Of Time (PS2)- 7.9 (Im going to try it again, this one is a different version than the one I had before)
2. Final Fantasy XII (PS2)- 9.0 (I don't know why I ever got rid of this game...)
3. The Bard's Tale (PS2) - 6.7
4. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Xbox) - 8.5 (Yes, I now have backwards compatibility on my 360)
5. Black & White (PC)- 9.3
Hey guys, once again (and again), I'm sorry for not posting a new blog in a while, I just do not feel like posting blogs at all, but I am still posting reviews for games and such, I just got a review in for Final Fantasy IX, and will have one for Age of Empires II: The Conquerors soon.
I got some good looking games this month aswell (three I already had before but had gotten rid of), I had been interested in The Bard's Tale for a while now and suddenly a local GameStop got two copies of it, so I went ahead and bought one. As for Morrowind, I had it before but I finally ordered a disc from Microsoft that had the Backwards Compatibility update on it, and I tested it and it works! 'Im quite excited to play it, I've heard good things about it. Black & White was a very unique looking RTS, rightly so though, you play as some sort of god, who has raised a giant creature from infancy (the creature can be a lion, ape, or cow), the creature adopts your personality traits by the choices you make in the game (depending on whether you're an evil god or a good god), and you just make it do all the dirty work, just going by it's uniqueness Black & White should get a 10/10, soI can't wait to see how the gameplay works. And get this Black & White was made by Lionhead, the same people that made Fable and Fable II, I just thought that was cool since I had never heard of it and Lionhead is a somewhat big company.
Anywho, I'm going to go try and play Civilization 3 now, so "blog ya' later" (TM.), heheh it's trademarked now, now noone cansteal it!! ![]()
Games I bought last month. August 09
1. Syberia (PC) - 9.1
2. Suikoden 3 (PS2) - 9.1
Yep, that's it, this month I actually refrained from buying too many games, I kept it at a solid 2 games, both of which I'm really excited to play. I've been looking for Suikoden 3 at different places for many months, so I finally just ordered it and I've heard by many that it's a fantastic JRPG. As for Syberia, I haven't played a really good adventure game in a while, and this one looked quite awesome so I figured I'd give it a try, in the words of Michael Scott: "It's gonna be soppity". ![]()
Gaming Updates Vol. 8
Ok, once again, sorry for not posting a blog in a little while, I have not been in a bloggy mood at all lately, I have many ideas floating around in my head though (one of which is a continuation of another Bitter Gamer blog, but it's just an idea), maybe I'll put one of those into a blog. Anyway in gaming news I started Beyond Good and Evil about 3 or 4 days ago, and I'll probably beat it tomorrow, as you can see it's a fairly short game, it took me like 12 hours to get to where I'm at in the game. As for Age of Empires, I've beaten Age of Empires, Age of Empires: The Rise of Rime, Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings, Age of Empires 3, and Age of Empires 3: The War Chiefs, so I've beaten all of the Aoe games except for AoE 2: The Conquerors, and AoE 3: Asian Dynasties. As you probably have already guessed I'm getting pretty freaking tired of Age of Empires, maybe if it wasn't so flippin difficult I wouldn't be so tired of it but I can't change that; also I believe I told Rheinmetal that AoE 2 was easier than the original AoE, it's not, it hard, very hard, walk into it slowly! So right now I'm trying to decide whether or not to go ahead and start and finish The Conquerors. If I move on and play something else (which I'm leaning towards)I'll either play Civ. 3 or Siberia -I'm like Microsoft, between Sony and Nintendo I don't know what the frick to do!-, and this is where you guys help out, start voting!
At any rate you guys can expect 2 more reviews coming from me within a few days for Beyond Good and Evil and Age of Empires 2.
I have also decided, yep that's right I decided, without votes
..... I've decided to save up in order to purchase a PS3 slim, one of the reasons I couldn't get one in the first place was that I didn't have enough room for the giant thing, but now that they giving consumers a slim version, well, that just makes everything awesome. Once I get one I plan on getting some games like Valkyria Chronicles, Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, aswell as all those great exclusives that are coming to the console, that's one of the advantages the PS3 has over the competition, fantastic exclusives, sure the 360 has Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, and Overlord, and the WII has Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl, but the PS3 has a pretty good amount of fantastic exclusive games, aswell as many others coming out for it later this year and next year. Put that together with the Blue-Ray player, built-in Wi-Fi, and it's smaller size and you have a really awesome console, that gives you a great amount of bang for your buck. Don't get me wrong I love Xbox 360, I'm just excited to finally get a PS3.
Gaming Updates Vol. 7
Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted a good blog in a while, I haven't really been in the blogging mood. Anyway, lately I've been playing a few different games, Infinite Undiscovery, Age of Empires 2, and Monster Hunter Freedom and FFVI Advance on and off as portables. I'm about to beat Infinite Undiscovery, I'm a little over 21 hours into it, and I'm really liking it, I think any fan of RPGs should really give it a try, but there's a very annoying thing about it, the lip-syncing is completely off, it's terrible, and that can really take away from the emotion that the game tries to stir in a person, but besides that for the main part it's great. As for Age of Empires 2, I can say that's it's really good aswell, especially compared to the first Age of Empires, which I found alot of problems with (read my review for more), the only things is that I think that I'm starting to burn myself out on Age of Empires, which is somewhat taking away from the experience of playing Age of Empires 2, but after this I'm gonna change up my PC gaming and play Civilization 3 (which is a Turn-Based Strategy game, far different than AoE), which I've heard from quite a few people is quite good. As for after Infinite Undiscovery I plan on playing Prince of Persia for 360, which I just bought last week, it looks really good, and also since the GameStop I was at still had limited edition copies of PoP they gave me that for the same price as a regular, and it comes with a really cool looking case, and an extra disc with bonus content, so I'm phsyced to play it. Anyway, that's about it for me for gaming, so...... blog ya later. (yeah, that was cheesy
)

A period of inactivity
Hello guys, sorry I haven't been posting as much on your blogs and stuff. I just wanted to let you all know that I'm not going to be coming on GS as much for a while, there has been some pretty hard stuff going onin my life recently and I really haven't been in the mood to come on GS or to play games in general. In a nutshell some people that I care for very deeply (and one person in particular) are moving very very far away, to Montana, which if you drive takes like 3 days to get there from here, but the thing is that they're abusive father is forcing them to move to Montana, I don't know why they won't just stay and let him leave but that doesn't matter because they're leaving really early tommorow morning, so there you go. I will get Overlord 2 tommorow and I'm really looking forward to playing it, but I might not, I don't know. But I guess this is sort of a cya later to you guys for awhile, I'll still be updating my game collection and posting reviews every once in a while, but for now, cya later.
The Bitter Gamer Vol. 6: Sex In Videogames
Yeah, you heard me right, this Bitter Gamer is going to be about the issue of sex in videogames (And I hope I don't get modded), also before I start I would like to say that Kratos was not hurt in the making of this blog, and no hot coffee pics are included
. Throughout the lifetime of videogames sex in them has become more and more prevalent, and I will say that it does add a certain amount of humor to some games (Overlord, Jak 2 and 3), but some of the things that are allowed in games is just too much. Think of the Grand Theft Auto series, which has almost always provided some way for your character to have sex in the game, that to me is going overboard. It has also become nothing short of a tradition in the God of War series, which is known for having a sex mini-game in each addition to the series. Probably the biggest problem I have with this is that it's not unheard of for a young child to play Grand Theft Auto, so really what impressions are these games leaving on the next generation of people, that loose morals are perfectly fine. And the other problem I have with it is that it's widely unneeded in videogames (Except as I said before for a dosage of humor, but using nothing to explicit), you don't need it at all to further the game yet they still add it, and why, because publishers know that it will sell well. So overall I do think publishers are going overboard in todays gaming market concerning sex in videogames, and I think they should really tone it down, and I think that they would be furthering the game in doing so.

Gaming Updates Vol. 6
Alright, for those of you don't know, I finally beat FinalFantasy X about 8 days ago, it took me like 63 hours to beat it, and I was really surprised at how easy the last boss was, the only thing was thatyou needed to use reflect on him in order to win the battle, and Yuna was the only one in my party with reflect, and the boss stole all of her MP, and I had no ethers, so after a little while of thinking I just cast bio on him, because everytime you hit him he casts Curaga on himself (hence the need for reflect), and bio wasn't actually hitting him I guess, so it worked, but those bosses really didn't want me to beat the game, and I don't know why either
. Also about 2 weeks ago I got The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in the mail, so I'll probably play that, after I beat Eternal Sonata and FinalFantasy X-2. Right now though, I'm mainly playing Eternal Sonata, I'm on chapter 5 (of 7 chapters), and like 15 hours into it, and it really surprised with how short the game is, you can get through a chapter in like 3 hours, and that's with like an hour of cutscenes, but none-the-less it is a really fantastic, and fun experience. I also started FinalFantasy X-2, but was somewhat disappointed with it, probably just because it doesn't hold a candle to FinalFantasy X, but I'm going to try and beat it after Eternal Sonata, and then I'll move on to my N64 games. Yesterday, I picked up The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind (Game of the Year edition), and I can't wait to play it-but first I need backwards compatibility for my 360
-, and I also bought Civilization Revolution for my 360, on account that I've been really itching to play an RTS game recently, and it looks really good. Also, I've been thinking of doing a Bitter Gamer blog sometime soon, but for now I'm going to keep the subject of it quiet (Don't say anything AlliCrombie
), and for those of you who haven't read any of my previous ones I have 5 or 6 of them up on my blogs page, so you can read those if you want to.
2009: A Good Year For The PSP
Throughout it's lifetime the PSP has continuously been beaten out by the DS in sales (pretty bad too), though it being graphically and technologically stronger than its portable rival. But this year they're quite a few games coming out for the PSP that seem like they'll make quite an impact on the DS-by increasing sales for the PSP-, and it it has also been said that 50%-60% of the games that will be released this year haven't even been announced yet, so I'm looking forward to more epic titles to come to the PSP. Also this year has already seen the releases of great PSP games such as StarOcean: Second Evolution, Loco Roco 2, and Patapon 2, which all happen to be great games for the PSP. And this year some of the great titles that are coming to the PSP include Final Fantasy Dissidia, Crimson Gem Saga, SoulCalibur Broken Destiny, LittleBigPlanet, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Dante's Inferno, and possibly Final Fantasy XIII Agito, and KingdomHearts: Birth By Sleep, so let me take a moment to explain a few of these.
FinalFantasy Dissidia: FinalFantasy Dissidia is an 3D fighting game coming to the PSP ths year, it will feature characters from the first dozen Final Fantasy games including the likes of Cloud, Jecht, and Zidane. The games story centers around two warring deities known as Cosmos and Chaos (one being good, and the other evil), where you choose what side to fight for in the game. Also Dissidia is being included in a PSP bundle that will include the game Dissidia, the movie FinalFantasy VII: Advent Children, a PSP 3000-series, and a 2g memory stick, which sounds like an awesome deal to me especially for $200, if you don't have a PSP this bundle would be the way to get one.
SoulCalibur Broken Destiny: The legendary fighting series finally makes it's way to the PSP in Broken Destiny, and is bound to be a hit. Broken Destiny will feature 20 playable characters, along with even more character creation and multiple gameplay modes. SoulCalibur Broken Destiny is said to be released in the third quarter of 2009, and more information will definitely be provided for it later, one things for sure if you're a fan of fighting games you really should get this game, it's looking to be really great.
LittleBigPlanet: Yep, that's right, Media Molecule's original 2D platformer for the PS3 is being brought over to the PSP. It will have multiplayer and the ability to create your own levels and share them with people through the PlayStation Network just like the PS3 version.Well for those of us who didn't get to play the PS3 version of this and wanted to this really is a great release because it gives us a chance to actually play it through the PSP......but first you need a PSP. (Also the release date is TBA)
So as you can see this year is shaping up to be a great year for the PSP, and I'm looking forward to even more news about upcoming releases for the PSP in the months to come.

And that's it, I'm not sure if I'll ever get all of these completed, I might if I don't buy games for a year, but that won't happen...... Also I ordered Ocarina of Time again and it'll probably get here Friday, I can't wait to play it. As for FFX I beat the last battle with Seymour on the first try, and right now I'm fighting Braska's Final Aeon (Jecht), and I'm having some trouble with this battle, though today I beat his first form and then got his second form down to like 45,000 points (out of 120,00), I'm going to train some more for the battle, and I hope to beat him tomorrow. Any tips on that battle I'll take by the way.
Gaming Updates Vol. 5
Well, I finally startedEternal Sonata a couple days ago, and so far I'm really enjoying it, I haven't found any faults with it yet, and I love the battle system. I'm also still playing FinalFantasy X, I spent a really long time training in the Omega ruins for the battle with Sin (you know the one where you have to beat him in a certain amount of turns, or else he blows everything up), and while I was there I beat the Ultima Weapon twice, yep twice, the first time I beat him I decided I didn't want to fight Omega afterward so I tried to leave the ruins by getting to the save point at the other side of the cave, and was ambushed and killed by some monsters, so I went back and did it all again.....but that time everything went as planned, so I beat Sin and right now I'm at the part where you have to fight Seymour (again), so if anyone has tips on that battle please tell me. Im playing FinalFantasy Tactics Advance as a portable too, and so far Im really enjoying it, it's one of the better GBA games that I've played. This Monday I'm going to a nearby GameStop to put some money down towards reserving Overlord 2 (the first one was so spectacular that I don't want to miss the second), and I'm also going to buy my friend some stuff. Also I quit playing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (and I'm going to bring it to Gamestop for some cash) because it pretty terrible, I found it dull, boring, and repetitive (if you want more see my review of it
). Also for anyone who has played the Atelier Iris games, do you think I'd like them;I like most all JRPG's.
My View Of Nintendo
Before I get started I would like to say that I am not a fanboy of any system, I just like one system the best and expect every game that comes out on it to be the best, and all its competition sucks!
(well I thought it was funny)
Currently, to me Nintendo isn't doing well with the WII, in fact I think the WII was a waste with the exception of a couple good exclusives; though last gen, and the gen before that I think Nintendo did very well. The Nintendo 64 was probably Nintendo's best console, it was filled with great classic platformers, and other greats like Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, so I think that Nintendo did great with that gen. Last gen they released the Gamecube, which -in sales- came in last place in the console wars, but to me the Gamecube was a really good console, and I also think that the Gamecube showed how much Nintendo caters to its fans, I mean with the GameCube Nintendo gave fans games such as StarFox Adventures, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and much more, all of which were great games, and all of which were originally showed on the Nintendo 64, which is why I think that they cater well to their fans. And this gen, well, this gen is the one that I think they screwed up, with the WII that is, to me the WII has next to no quality games, but I can still see how they cater to their fans through the WII, but not as much as the GameCube or the N64, to me they could have done much better with the WII than they have, they should have brought more quality games to the WII (I mean they haven't even brought a Zelda game to the WII yet!), and that really would of made the difference to me, because right now I think the WII is mainly a waste of time from Nintendo.
Games I Bought This Month. April 09
StarOcean: The First Departure (PSP)-6.0
Super Smash Bros. Melee (GameCube)-8.9
Eternal Sonata (X360)-8.5
Donkey Kong 64 (Nintendo 64)-9.0
Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)-9.4
Toy Story 2 (Nintendo 64)-6.5 (I got rid of this one though)
This month was a really good gaming month for me overall, I got my N64, and a couple classic platformers, that I can't wait to play.
N64 wishlist
Well, since I recently obtained a Nintendo 64 I decided to post my wishlist of games for the system. So here it is:
Paper Mario: Paper Mario is truly a classic game and the follow up to the classic SNES game Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, and also one of the greatest games for the N64. It's pretty simple to se why I want this game it looks like pure fun, and uniqueness.
Banjo-Kazooie: Banjo-Kazooie is truly a classic platformer and arguably Rare's best game. In Banjo-Kazooie you play a bear named Banjo, along with his bird sidekick Kazooie, as they try to rescue Banjo's sister Tooty from the clutches of the evil witch Gruntilda, who kidnaped to steal her youth and beauty. Banjo-Kazooie is definitely high on my wishlist, and I can't wait to play it.
Banjo-Tooie: Banjo-Tooie is the follow-up game to Banjo-Kazooie, where you play as Banjo the bear as he tries to restore his friend Bottle's life after Gruntilda put a devestating spell on him. Anyway, Banjo-Tooie just looks like a fantastic classic platformer to me, and well not much to say about it but that.
Kirby 64-The Crystal Shards: For some reason I've always been a fan of Kirby's he just seems like a really awesome character to me, no matter how fat he is. In The Crystal Shards you play as Kirby as he tries to collect the shards of a powerful crystal that had been destroyed by a being known as The Dark Matter. This game just looks really fun to me and I'm looking forward to playing it.
Ogre Battles 64: I don't know much about Ogre Battles 64 except that it's a fun-looking tactical-RPG. In Ogre Battles you play as Magnus as he leads a revolt against the powerful Lodis Church Kingdom in order to gain true independence, after the king of Magnus' homeland betrays hiscountry in order to insure that his throne and the social elite of the country will remain safe from the other kingdom (I think).
The Legend Of Zelda-Majora's Mask: Majora's Mask is known as the darkest and grittiest Zelda game to date, so it looks fun to me. In Majora's Mask you play as Link-after the events of Ocarina of Time- as he tries to stop Skull Kid's plans to crash the moon into the Earth. Majora's Mask looks very interesting to me, and also different from the other Zelda games that I know of, and it also looks really good in general, but I'll probably get it after Ocarina of Time.
The Legend Of Zelda-Ocarina Of Time: Ocarina Of Time is said by many to be the greatest Zelda game of all time, and for many reasons, and also it was given a 10.0 by GameSpot, so I'll definitely be getting this classic game. In Ocarina Of Time you play as Link as he tries to save the world once again from Ganondorf's evil plans. There is alot to be said about Ocarina Of Time's greatness, but I'm tired of typing so that's it folks. Also, I know I said that I ordered Ocarina of Time several days ago, but unfortunately when I actually got it in the mail it was the wrong game-thanks to the idiot who sold it to me- so I'm going to have to ship this game back to him, get a refund, and then order Ocarina Of Time again from someone else, it sucks realy bad. (by the way the game was the original Legend of Zelda for NES)
Gaming Updates Vol. 4
This weekend was sort-of a busy weekend for me, which is why I haven't posted any blogs up until now, my Grandma came up from Tennessee to see us here in Indiana, and I had a great time with her, and I ate like a pig-my Mom cooked alot. And this coming Thursday until Sunday i'm going to be hiking in the Appalachian trails in West Virginia, and it's a 9 hour drive so I bought a new PSP game, Star Ocean: The First Departure for the ride there. So far the the game is fantastic the voice acting is great and I really like how the graphics are presented they have a nostalgic feel to them-of the PSX days, so so far the game is great in all. I also ordered Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for my N64, I can't wait to play it I've heard nothing but good things about it, but I'll probably wait a while to play it because I have a huge backlog of games right now. Right now I'm playing Overlord, Prince of Persia:The Sands of Time, DragonQuest VIII, FinalFantasy X (yeah I'm still playing it), and also StarOcean: The First Departure, and I must say Overlord is fantastic, I have enjoyed every minute of playing it and I still have quite a ways to go in the game and I'm looking forward to playing it more, and DQVIII is fantastic aswell, the graphics and battle system are great, and it's really just fun in general, FinalFantasy X is epic as always, and PoP is disappointing, I find it repetitive and somewhat boring- I think the problem with it is that it hasn't aged well, it was good for it's time because it worked as a showcase for what the PS2 could do graphically at that time, and it was also the revival of the franchise, but since then graphics have advanced a ton and there has been a new addition to the PoP series on the 360, so I just don't think it holds up well in todays gaming market.
The Bitter Gamer- Vol. 5 : The problem with SquareEnix
Well, before I start I would like to say that I really like SquareEnix, they have produced some fantastic games, and have the potential to release even better games, now back to the bitterness. But currently the two main problems that I see is the endless stringof remakes that they keep throwing on the Handhelds, and their constant milking of the FinalFantasy VII franchise. Over the past few years we have hada ton of remakes for games that are almost always thrown on the handheld consoles, just afew examples are FFI,FFII,Star Ocean 1, and Star Ocean 2, and I understand that some remakes are necessary to re-introduce people to their franchises, Star Ocean 1 and 2 as an example, but there is fine line in creating these remakes, for instance FinalFantasy I has been remade 7 times (not including the original game) and there is another release of it coming to the WII virtual console, soon to be 8! By now you can probably see how SquareEnix is going way overboard with the remakes, and in my opinion they should slow down on the remakes and put some effort into making great, new JRPGs. And the other problem I have with them is their continual milking of the FinalFantasy VII franchise, Overall they have had 6 additions to the world of FinalFantasy VII, 4 games and 2 films. And here is where we see them getting greedy because as a fan of the franchise if they would release yet another addition to the franchise tomorrow I would most-likely go out and get it, so we see SquareEnix not only milking the franchise but taking advantage of the fans aswell. And most of those additions weren't even that necessary, the only two additions that I think are relevant are Crisis Core and Advent Children, the rest I think we could have done without. And yet again I think they should push this franchise to the side, so they can start making quality RPGs again (unless they were to remake FFVII, the one time we want a freaking remake!).
