Sweet Oblivion is Screaming Trees first big success and probably their most recognized album. Lanegan's soulful lyrics deffinately play a huge part in this. Afterall, this was the first record that he really got to control the lyrical aspect. With the psychedelic guitar parts, smooth sounding bass lines, pounding drums, and a haunting voice singing beautiful words, this record was destined for success. Sweet Oblivion in perfect from Shadow of the Season, right down to Julie's Paradise. The tone and overall feeling to this album makes it all worth listening to it.

Like Meantime, I give Betty(their 3rd record) a perfect score. This is just another excellent example of Helmet\'s amazing music. The loud, commanding basslines that pounds through Wilma\'s Rainbow, Biscuits For Smut, and Milquetoast are a great touch. It just gives the songs a good feel to them and makes them some of my favorite Helmet songs. The way that Page sings Milquetoast, and the way the guitars sound is another reason why i love it so much. Street Crab is a fine example of how Helmet can start the song softly and slowly but then have everything come together loudly and beautifully. The \"weirdeness\" of the song The Silver Hawaiian, makes it almost mezmerizing. There\'s just something about the tone of Pages voice coupled with the instruments that makes it really stand out. I would deffinately reccomend this record to anyone who wants to listen to some good quality music.

I give Helmet's second album a 5. Meantime is full of awesome thrashy guitars, excellent bass lines, powerhouse drumming, really good vocals, and amazing lyrics. The First track, In the Meantime, is a really great opener. Their instrumentals to it, come right at you as does Page's voice. Page uses two voices on this album(as on the others). One is loud and thrasy, while the other is more mellow and calm. The combination of them both make for and excellent record. Overall, Helmet's Meantime, is a great influential record and it's worth the listen.
