2009 may have been the year of Street Fighter IV...

...but that was just child's play. NOW IT'S TIME FOR:

Yes! When Ken's not kicking ass on the street fighting circuit, he's inventing a super-substance called cyboplasm with his friend Troy! This year, Ken implants some bionics and pursues Troy's killers across the frontier worlds! His journeys will even take him to the wonderfully named desert planet of SANDDUNE! (God, I miss truly terrible localization.) And in case one bizarre Capcom series tie-in isn't enough, this game is determined to confuse the hell out of you with the subtitle The Final Fight! But alas, Metro City Mayor Mike Haggar never shows up to help Ken on his interplanetary street-fighting adventure. What the hell, Capcom?

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!

Look to 2010

Let's see, 23 games finished, first time homeowner, passed 3 year mark at current job, rebought my Xbox 360, it was a pretty good year. Rebuying my 360 was a painless process, and without a doubt thus far, the best rebuy I've made. Plus I got to play Castle Crashers & Shadow Complex on XBLA, plus being able to continue with my character from Mass Effect once ME2 comes out in a few weeks. 2010 seems to be shaping up decently as well, with a few real big titles to kickstart the year. Let's take a quick look.

#1 - Final Fantasy XIII
#2 - Mass Effect 2
#3 - Batman: Arkham Asylum 2
#4 - White Knight Chronicles
#5 - Mega Man 10
#6 - God of War 3

-RPGs Resonance of Fate, Nier, Star Ocean: Last Hope International: how will they turn out, will they be any good??
-Alpha Protocol: will it be as good as the hype for it (being able to play as a JB spy, Bond, Bauer or Bourne), and was the delay til summer enough time to make it good?
-Heavy Rain, The Last Guardian: still need to finish Indigo Prophecy, but enjoyed what I played; will HR be as good, or better? TLG, will it live up to its predecessors, ICO & Shadow of the Colossus?
-Red Dead Redemption, Splinter Cell: Conviction: will Redemption be as good as Red Dead Revolver; Conviction sounds good in preview (like Hitman in a way), will I actually play it??
-ModNation Racers: looks like a lot of fun, will it be?
-Medal of Honor: how will it fare with its decendent, Call of Duty, reigning supreme?
-Project Needlemouse: please stay true to its original announcement, 2D Sonic FTW!!

Upcoming reviews and a site tease

I'm going to start posting reviews every now and then. Originally I posted reviews on a regular basis but then stopped and I had to write a new review to keep my GS Top 500 review emblem which is why I wrote the Prince of Persia review last month. I'll probably write reviews for 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, Afro Samurai and possibly Matt Hazard: Eat Lead. Obviously 50 Cent and Afro Samurai aren't great games that need further breakdown and analysis but I'm kind of in the mood in rag on something since they're both meh games. I just started Matt Hazard today and while the writing and concept are quite good it doesn't help keep the game enjoyable since the combat is boring and wonky.

Also in the upcoming months a site I'm going to be contributing to is going to launch. A fellow GS member is involved and is working on the site and it's going to be quite cool. I'm hoping people here will check it out and perhaps spend some of their time on the site since GS has been a bit crap. I'll of course post updates when the site is getting closer to launch.

Cyril Reads Ninja Gaiden (Weekly MP3)

Think books based on video games are bad now? They were much, much worse twenty years ago. To prove that point Defunct Games has decided to create a weekly show called CYRIL READS NINJA GAIDEN. That's right, Cyril Reads Ninja Gaiden, the show that brings you two chapters from the 1989 book Ninja Gaiden, written by A.L. Singer for the Worlds of Power line of Scholastic books.

In each episode Cyril reads two complete chapters, word for painful word. But it's not just a terrible story read back to you, it also includes Ninja Gaiden music, sound effects and an open letter to A.L. Singer, author of Ninja Gaiden. It's truly horrible, but that's half the fun of this 13 part show. Already there have been 7 episodes, but don't worry about catching up. Each episode only runs around 15 minutes, so it's extremely easy to punch out three or four in an hour.

New episodes of Cyril Reads Ninja Gaiden are uploaded every Wednesday at Defunct Games!

Whats you're favourite cartoon series?

Mine would have to be the Simpsons.

It's not because i watch them every day but because i used to watch them all the time.I still enjoy the series and i would have to say that this is my all time favourite cartoon series.

My favourite cartoon series right now is South Park.

This show is great.I simply love Cartman,he's the one.I haven't seen a cartoon more funnier than this.

The only show that tops this one is Seinfeld.

" Das Seinfeld",how ze germans would say, was,is and i think it will be for quite a very long time the funniest show on earth. Its a pity that the show ended, but im glad that the show exists.Thank you Jerry!

I Can't Believe I Got This Far Behind

I'm looking over the following games for my next rental from Gamerang. I'm in that horror adventure puzzle mood. Thanks to Haunting grounds & Still Life. So Give me some advice. Or if you know of something that isn't listed let me know.

Echo Night Beyond

A horrific crash on your honeymoon has left you separated from your spouse. Opening the door to the lunar colony 239,000 miles from Earth – you find a desolate base haunted by the spectral remains of those who called it home.

I really couldn't find much on this one, but I played the old PS game & was rather annoyed by it.

You are an FBI agent on the hunt in this gripping and sickening hunt for serial killers.

I'm not a huge fan of first person games, but I hear this game has a good story with plot twists. So I'll get over the 1st person. I wonder if all the great things are said about this are because it's on 360.

New York City is stunned by a series of mysterious murders, ordinary people are killing absolute strangers Lucas Kane becomes another one of these murderers when he suddenly kills a stranger Covered in blood, Lucas regains consciousness with no recollection as to why he committed murder.

I'm not sure what the player does in this game. Is it like Shenmue?

The King had been murdered and the Kingdom is in a state of chaos. But, an even bigger tragedy is about to hit; the devil is about to be resurrected.

I haven't played a deception game yet.

Kuon

The Heian-kyo Period of Ancient Japan where mysticism and magic will require you to reach deep within your soul to uncover the mysteries of the undead.

There isn't a really good description of what this game is about.

The main character's twisted nightmares take her to the "House of Sleep". It is here that she encounters the most hideously tortured souls who are being overtaken by a curse and a deadly tattoo, and also where she discovers the most about truth, life... and death.

I played & really enjoyed the first one. I own the second but haven't played it yet.

Which reminds me I have these at home that need playing

Rayne is challenged with her most personal battle yet in BloodRayne 2

Played & enjoyed the first one but the story was paper thin

Bizarre events have been occurring at Leafmore High School: disappearing students, teachers behaving strangely… In an attempt to shed some light on these terrifying occurrences, five curious students set out to investigate and end up discovering a terrible secret that will endanger them all!

I believe Gamespot called it RE in High School. How could I not love that.

I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't finished this game yet.

I feel like I'm forgetting one. Maybe Jon can remind me. Well after making that list, I see everything I've been missing while I was spending all my time playing wow! I better get started. Please if you know of any games I haven't listed that you think I would like that have come out in the last 3 years let me know!
