Tetris in Brawl

I think having at least SOMETHING Tetris-themed would be really sweet for Brawl. The way it would work (if you didn't see my last thread about this) is, Tetris pieces would fall from the sky and hurt the players on the field, however, if you jump on top of one as it comes down (they fall slowly, mind you) you can go in for the aerial attack!

So the question is, should "Tetris" be an Assist Trophy or a level all in itself (or maybe even a new game mode)?

1. Assist Trophy: Grab the AT and the Tetris music starts playing (if having the music come in seems obtrusive, just think of the hammer; you don't really think of it as negative when that music comes in... unless you're not the one with the hammer), and Tetris pieces start falling. This could add a whole new dimension to whatever level you're playing on.

or

2. Level: The Tetris music plays the entire time. At first, you stand on acompletely flat field (cause you're standing in the puzzle-dropping area), then Tetris pieces start falling, rotating, whatever, and they change the field of battle as they do so. Like with the assist trophy, the pieces hurt you if you stand under them when they connect with the floor, but you can jump onto them as they fall to gain the high ground.

or (I just thought of this as I was typing, haha)

3. A new game mode: In Tetris mode, one player plays a game of Tetris on a large-scale Tetrisgame board-dealio. The other players duke it out (such as on the Tetris level idea above) as the person plays. This would add a whole new dimension not only to Tetris, but to the level itself since a player can directly control what's happening

What do you guys think? I think it'd be really fun, personally, and would help Brawl come that much closer to having every single franchise covered.

The Best Show on Television (with review)!

For those of you that may not know, Gamespot.com, Gamefaqs.com, and TV.com (amongst others) are all shared sites. So in other words, you can use the same account (name and password) on all three!

Anyway, I made a new review for Battlestar Galactica (aka the best show on television, or in my case, on dvd, cause I don't havecable or the sci-fi network...) on TV.com and I'm inviting anybody and everybody to give it a look! Even if you think Battlestar Galactica sounds really lame/nerdy!

Oh yeah, and here's a link: http://www.tv.com/users/Superlink517/history.php

Video games = Comic Books?

Hey, I dunno if anyone else has thought of this... Just today I was reading an Archie Comic (haha, I know, but I love 'em!) and in one of them, they were talking about how comics can appreciate in value, and some become REALLY valuable (IE the first Spiderman comic's worth today, or any other c1ass1c like that).

So back on topic, it got me thinking... Video games are basically like comic books were back in the day... Our parents and older relatives always say "Heck, I didn't think they'd be worth anything later on! I just wanted to read 'em!"

Will video games be like this in the future? Will there be "Vintage video game stores" where copies of the original, gold-cartridge Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time go for hundreds of thousands of dollars if they're in good condition?

I dunno... maybe I'm wrong! It just seemed like a possibility.

Wii are a Union

Hey guys!

This following week will be pretty hectic in the Wii boards (the Wii board and boards such as Brawl and Galaxy) due to E3. Chances are, these boards will move really quickly, but unfortunately, this wont be because they're filling rapidly with quality threads. Nay, spam will inevitably fill the forums with topics such as, "No. Wai! Sonic isn't in Brawl?!?" or "Sonic is in Brawl?!? I knew it!!" I'm guessing Sonic wont be in it, but either way, you can imagine the spam. If you haven't already noticed, topics like this are already becoming prominent...

So, if you'd rather not filter through all that jazz (as fun as it sounds ) you should definitely check out Wii are a Union. That is, if you want to discuss what goes on at E3 in a spam-free zone! Haha, it'll be a party!

Ifyou're already affiliated with Wii are a Union, join the festivities!
If you are already affiliated with the max number of unions, find a deletable one mehbeh...?
If you're not either of these things, well, you know what to do!

NintendoLand

I was just thinking about this the other day... there's a Disneyland and a Legoland, why not a Nintendoland? I can see it now... It'd be be divided into various sectors, which I will now explain:

*Jungle Zone* - Mainly DK-centered, it's called Jungle Zone due to its outdoorsy jungle theme. Future attractions coming, which is why it isnt flatout called "DK Zone."

DK's Jungle Safari: Like the name suggests, this would be a boat ride through a "jungle" filled with anamatronic animals. I think it should pass by DK's house and all that jazz...

DK's Crazy Cruise: Though it is labeled as a cruise, it's a rollarcoaster-style ride that goes to many different familiar locales, such as through a Jungle Japes-esque Jungle, through a Pirateship, etc.

*Space Zone* - An outerspace themed world. The entire area looks very Mario Galaxy-esque, but this sector features Metroid, and more.

Metroid Prime Shootout: Sort of a (massive) Metroid-themed lazer tag area and shooting gallery.

Abandoned Ship Tour: Much more than a simple tour, this ride will take passengers through a freighter that's been overcome by Space Pirates, prepare for the worst, and brace yourself!

F-Zero Extreme: An extremely fast-paced "Space-Mountain" style rollarcoaster that traverses over water, "lava," and through dark bases.

*Furious Speedway* - A racer-themed area, featuring Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing, and F-Zero (the speedway and space zone are connected at the F-Zero attraction)

Kart Racing: Hop in a go-kart and go for for the gold! A mist that covers the track proves a reasonable "canvas" for holograms of items. When you fire a koopa shell, an image fires from your kart to the one in front/behind it. The engine will briefly be stopped as a result. A couple Mario and Diddy Kong-themed areas can be seen.

*Mario Party Zone* - I dunno about this one, but I thought it would be cool to have a life-sized Mario Party game... I doubt it's even plausible, but oh well!

*Big/Small Zone* - Are you really small? Or is everything else really big? Who knows!

Pikmin-themed area

Minish cap themed area

Okay yeah, so that's the basic idea... I'll think of more stuff later (Like a Zelda themed area!). I just thought it would be cool if there was a NintendoLand somewhere out there! What do you think?

Ice Climber Wii!

While this game has not yet been confirmed, I think that the Ice Climber series needs to make a comeback on the Nintendo Wii. I never really played Ice Climber (though I'd like to download it on the VC), but I think I get the basic premise and I think it could definately be vamped up into an exciting experience.

So here's the lowdown of how it would work (sorry it's so long! I can't help it!):

*Players: 1-4 Simultaneous (Co-op and Battle)

*Characters/teams (Which can be mixed around during Battle mode):
--Popo and Nana: Well-rounded as a team, skill-wise and personality-wise. They keep eachother in check though they are slightly different in personality.
--Brock and Kiki: Brock is on the heavy side while Kiki is lighter. Kiki tends to be assertive and hard-headed while Brock is strong, but introverted. It is this difference that helps them be stronger as a team, but also creates tension.
--Melo and Makayla: Both are small and can be quite pompous, but they are extremely skilled in the ways of mountain-climbing. The other teams want to see them "get what's coming to them," but they're as skilled as their egos say they are.
--Ross and Tabitha: Ross and Tabitha are both intellectuals, and the eldest of the climbing teams. They met on an archaelogical research team, and have come along with the climbers for scientific reasons, though it's tough not to get caught up in the spirit of competition!

*Lands (not all are mentioned):
--Mayhem Mountain
--Infinate Glacier
--Icycle Cavern
--Slyck Snowdrifts
--Plus many, many more!

*Synopsis (The story, or at least the intro)
--A friendly, competitive climb on the infamous Mayhem Mountain turns catastrophic when there is a tremendous earthquake, unleasing prehistoric beasts lying below... Wait, what? Dinosaurs? Ya that's right.
--Strong-willed and curious, Ross coaxes Tabitha to come with him and evaluate the situation. Naturally, the expedition teams, given the group name "Ice Climber" by the president of the Exploration Foundation, decide to join them and help in any way possible.

*Schematics (How the game will work)
--Single player or co-op main game
--No "main area" (ie Peach's Castle or Gruntilda's Castle);  you go level to level in an emersive, icy and yet colorful world. You can utilize underground ice tunnels to "warp" to previously-visited towns, camps, and other locations however, as needed.
--Throw blocks of ice and use ropes as a team with the flick of a wrist to get to your destination, freezing monsters in your path. There are many minigames and sidequests along the way.

*Battle mode:
--Using the Wii's Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, or playing with friends who are next to you, duke it out in different game modes and levels.
--Create-a-Climber (For battle mode use only): Using "Ice Climber Wii"s Create-a-Climber, you can make a character as similar to you, or as different from you as you want. There is also an option to make a character based on your user-created Mii (It will be modified, of course, to fit the game's appearance).
--Modes: "Capture the Flag" - Steal another team's camp flag and bring it back to your camp! Simple as that, but loads of fun! "King of the Mountain" - Stay on the designated camp for the longest amount of time to win! "Battle" - Straight-up fighting for points using various items found around the stage!

All in all, I think an Ice Climber Wii would have a lot of potential. Utilizing the Wii's graphical capabilities and the Wii remote, I think it could be really cool (no pun intended)!

If you think I left anything out that warrants explaining, please let me know, and feel free to leave comments!

Games Wii'd like to see

Pardon the pun, I realize that filling in "Wii" for "We" has gotten rather old since launch, I just couldn't resist!

Anyway, back on track!

The Wii has a surprising amount of potential, and during a game drought such as this one (Ie the period between Twilight Princess and Smash Bros. Brawl) it's fun to think of potential games.

First, I'd like to mention some modern series that would benefit from the Wii controlls (some of which have already been suggested by others; they're still good ideas for games!) In other words, sequels and trilogies:

Pikmin 3: Just picture throwing Pikmin with a flick of the wrist! Plus, the graphical capabilities of the Wii (yes, it does in fact have better graphics than the Cube) could make for some lush-looking environments.

Luigi's Mansion 2: The first LM game was pretty underappreciated-ya it's short, but it's a solid game. I think that having the ability to shine your flashlight and suck up ghosts with the Wiimote would be pretty fulfulling.

Mario Sunshine 2: Another underappreciated game, basically the same principle as my Luigi's Mansion comments only with expelling water rather than sucking air.

(I'd mention games like Animal Crossing Wii, Mario Kart, etc. but I think these games are already planned to be released )

Now for the category of "series resurrection" where I'll mention games we haven't seen in awhile that warrant a Wii title.

Kid Icarus: With Pit in Brawl, I think that a new Kid Icarus is in order. It'd be pretty sweet flying around above the clouds in a Greek mythological-style environment as you aim and fire your arrows into the hearts of the enemy. I could definately see a killer "Modern Greek-esque" soundtrack happening (hahs sorry if that makes no sense, it makes sense to me, but I'm around myself 24/7.)

Ice Climber: With themed games such as Mario Sunshine, and Luigi's Mansion, the developers may run the risk of getting complaints for another "themed game," but I think that Ice Climber Wii could have highly-varying environments. With the Wii, you could flick ice blocks to your enemies, toss a line to climb accross a crevass, and do it all on slick-looking ice! Of course, a co-op is in order!

^^As for Ice Climber Wii, I would like to go more in-depth to how the game would work in my next issue, as this blog has already gotten lengthy (sorry bout that!), and when I say "in-depth" I really wanna go in-depth. So, tune in next time, and thanks for reading!

The Nintendo Wii

I was just playing Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz today (great game by the way, despite what people have said about the "broken" minigames   ) and I realized, that using the Wii remote to play Monkey Ball is pretty much the closest thing you can get to controlling the game with your mind... I mean, seriously! You basically just think "right" and you go right... Think about this the next time you play it!

Well, that's my musing for today, tomorrow I may feature a segment on "most anticipated wii games: unannounced edition" (aka, games Id like to see that i haven't heard anything about yet.) Stay tuned!!
