Merry Christmas to all, no soaps on the air today ...

... well, not new ones. Some channels air reruns of old soaps, which is nice too.

I want to say a huge thank you to the TUs and the contributors who are not TUs.

Notes regarding submissions ...

I just sort of wanted to mention a few things about submissions. I love submissions -- the more the better. But all submissions must be 100% original work. This means that if submitting a summary, it cannot come from another website, which includes spoiler sites and TV Guide or TiVo listings. This counts for notes, trivia, allusions, etc.

With the new system for stars, please don't add anything other than a character name. They'll be attached at the major show level with their years on the show, but when adding them on an episode-by-episode basis, please use only the character name. When adding guest stars or recurring stars, I generally prefer what is used as an on-screen credit in the end credits. The one exception is when a character's identity has been established but is not stated properly in the credits. For example, if Charles Parnell on AMC was credited simply as Derek, please submit him as Derek Frye since that is the character's name, and soap credits don't quite work the same as regular television credits.

The only time italics should ever be used in the summary is when it's a proper title. For example, something like New Beginnings (which is Erica Kane's show on All My Children) would be in italics, but things like Fusion or The Comeback (the first is a cosmetics company on AMC, the second a local watering hole) would not -- they're places, not proper titles. Same with notes, trivia, etc.

Submissions need to be in sentence format. This includes music used in an episode -- please submit it like a sentence rather than in point form.

Thank you.

Until the bugs get fixed, please don't submit ...

I hate to say that, because I love getting the submissions, but right now with the new system being phased in, there are some difficulties approving/declining queues. Even when I approve it, the information disappears and does not make it into the guide.

The staff is working on the issue right now, so there should be some sort of update in the coming days.

On the downside, the guides could look rather sparse for the next few days. I can't get things through either. My own subs seem to disappear into a nethervoid of nothingness. I'm going to try to at least get the synopses up, but the cast submission section isn't working right now so there probably won't be any cast listed for the time being.

Jana Hawkes back at Y&R, new contract player for OLTL, a few exits ...

All My Children

Both John James (Jeff) and Taylor Gildersleeve (Sydney) have both been released. The network has stated that Gildersleeve's release was due to a retooling after the recent headwriter change. There's no word as to why James was released -- only last week, the network was adamant that they weren't cutting him.

Susan Pratt will be ending her recurring run as Barbara Montgomery, and is apparently slated to appear in only two more episodes.

As the World Turns

Cady McClain will again be seen as Rosanna Cabot some time in July -- her first tape date was mid-June. Apparently the show had already decided to bring Rosanna back when they had Alison pretending to be her.

Daniel Hugh Kelly will soon begin appearing as Noah's father. A name and first airdate has not been announced.

Rick Stear will appear as Bill, a pilot who helps Paul out, on June 20.

Joe Maruzzo will appear as a private investigator on June 21 and 22.

The Bold and the Beautiful

Both Alley Mills (Pamela) and Jennifer Gareis (Donna) have been released from their contracts with the show.

Sean Whalen began appearing in the recurring role of lab tech Carl Ferret on June 15.

Ridge Perkett will take over the role of Ridge Jr. on June 22.

Days of our Lives

Leann Hunley will return to the role of Anna Fredericks on June 21.

Denise Boutte will appear as Jett's fiancée Danielle on July 4.

General Hospital

After months of fans wondering, Bradford Anderson finally signed a contract as hacker Damien Spinelli (yes, that's right -- the show has confirmed he has a real first name, and it's Damien with an E). His contract was signed in May, and episodes began airing in June.

Although he's off-contract now as Dillon, Scott Clifton has agreed to stick around a little while longer to wrap up his character's storyline. He will last air in July, and is now on recurring status.

Guiding Light

With Reva communicating with Jonathan, fans are hoping that Tom Pelphrey will make a return appearance as Jonathan. There is no confirmation yet, but Pelphrey has admitted he's open to the possibility.

Although Mark Schlereth just made his first appearance as NYPD detective Roc Hoover on June 14, there is already speculation that he may be sticking around on a recurring status.

One Life to Live

The show has confirmed that James DePaiva (Max Holden), Dan Gauthier (Kevin), John Loprieno (Cord) and Tonya Walker (Alex) will return in August for a special 10,000 episode. The show is also hoping to get Nathan Fillion (Joey) to return, but there is no confirmation on that yet.

Both Chris Beetem (Tate) and Randolph Mantooth (Kirk) are out. Beetem has been released from his contract, and with Tate leaving, there's no more storyline for the recurring Mantooth, who has been playing Tate's father.

The role of OLTL's newest contract player, Markko Rivera, is being played by soap newcomer Jason Tam.

Passions

James Stevenson will not be taking his character of Jared Casey to DIRECTV when the show makes the jump in late summer. It is unknown if the role will be recast.

The Young and the Restless

Eric Braeden will return from his vacation when Victor Newman is again seen on June 22.

Chris Capuano, Bill Hall, J.J. Hardy and Jeff Suppan, all Milwaukee Brewers, will appear as themselves on June 20.

Jim Moret, from Inside Edition, will appear as himself on June 22.

Emily O'Brien is back as Jana Hawkes effective the week of June 18 -- and she's back on contract.

Deanna Russo has joined the show in the contract role of Logan Armstrong, a mysterious doctor who will help Nick get his strength back.
