Weezer (Blue Album)
""
Weezer's first album begins with the heartfelt "My Name is Jonas," telling of when Rivers's, (Cuomo,) mentally handicapped brother got into a car accident and was having troubles with his insurance. Next comes "No One Else," then "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here." These two songs are lyrically connected. The former telling of a guy who is jealous and obsessive about his girlfriend. The latter is the same guy, wondering why she left him. Following those two is "Buddy Holly." This song brings Rivers back to his high school days, when his then girlfriend was frequently bullied due to her appearance, and him saying that he doesn't care about what they say. Next comes the unintentionally funny,"Undone-The Sweater Song." Next comes "Surf Wax America." Then, comes "In the Garage" which really shows the band's geekiness. The next song, "Say it Ain't So," also bring Rivers back to his past. This time to when he was four years old and he thought that his parents got divorced, due to his dad's alchoholism. Then comes "Holiday." The album then comes to an end with the amazing "Only In Dreams."

In conclusion, The Blue Album is an amazing album that everyone should hear. And helped launch Weezer down a long, unpredictable, yet ultimately great career.

As a follow up to 2005's double album, "In Your Honor," the Foo Fighters released "Echoes, Silence, Patience, & Grace." And despite it having around half as many songs as their previous offering, it is a great album that, in my opinion, is even better. The album begins with "The Pretender." This song's meaning can be interpreted in different ways and features some great guitar work. "Let it Die" is is another song with great guitar work. The interesting thing about this song, is that it starts off acoustic, then it turns into a loud song. The energetic "Erase/Replace" follows. This song is against people making empty promises. This song can relate to a lot of people, because almost everyone has been lied to in their life. Then, there is "Long Road to Ruin." I'm not exactly sure how to describe this song, because it is something that you need to hear for yourself to judge. "Come Alive" follows as the first all acoustic song on the album. I have to say, the acoustic Foo Fighters songs have some of their best guitar work, in addition to being amazing songs. Next, is "Stranger Things Have Happened." Then, "Cheer Up, Boys (Your Make Up is Running.) the next song, "Summer's End," is unique because of its dual piano playing by Dave and Taylor. Following this dual piano song, is a dual, acoustic guitar, instrumental, played by Dave and guest Kaki King. Following is "Statues" which features Dave on the Piano. "But, Honestly" is next. This song, like "Long Road to Ruin," is something that you need to hear for yourself to judge. The album concludes with the piano ballad, "Home," played by Dave.

In conclusion, "Echoes, Silence, Patience, & Grace" is a great album and a great follow up to "In your Honor." If you like alternative rock, then you should hear this album.

American Idiot

American Idiot opens with its titular track, "America Idiot." This song is critical of post 9/11 America. Including, how many people are slaves to the media, the proposed ban on gay marriage, etc. I don't think any song,( Or album for that matter,) has had as much as an impact on me. It never sounds Anti-American. It also helps set the stage for the best part of the album.

American Idiot is a Punk Rock Opera, told during the songs "Jesus of Suburbia," "Are We The Waiting," "St. Jimmy," "Give Me Novacaine," "She's A Rebel," "Extraordinary Girl," "Letterbomb," "Homecoming," and Whatsername." It tells the story of a teenager named Jimmy, or as he is referred to in the album, the Jesus of Suburbia. He basically hates everything about his life. He is not sure of himself or what he believes. So, he leaves his hometown, Jingletown, to find out. What follows is a story full of betrayal, love, loss, and more that everyone should experience for themselves.

American Idiot also includes songs that are not part of the Opera. There's "Holiday" a powerful anti-war song. "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" is a teen angst song, that many can probably relate some point in their life to. Then, there's "Wake Me Up, When September Ends," which is arguably the most emotional song on the album, (With a very emotional music video too, btw.) This song is in memory of Billie Joe's father, who died when he was only ten. Stating that this was when he lost his innocence, and that he'll always remember this tragic event.

In conclusion, American Idiot is a powerful, emotional, and meaningful album that everyone should hear. It is easily Green Day's best album and one of the best albums of all time.
