Yes, I have Been Away

Hey all,

As many of you have probably noticed, I've been away a while. I had some health issues that needed to be tended to and I was off tending to them. I'm okay now, feeling much better. I apologize to everyone for not getting back to them or letting anyone know ahead of time. It all happened kind of quickly. I'm back now and trying to catch up, so if you wouldn't mind taking it easy on me for a bit I would appreciate it. The rest of the staff has done a bang up job covering in my absence and I thank them sincerely. I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things quickly. Hope this finds everyone well. - Dan

Forum search update

We released an update to the GameSpot forum search today. The changes were made to provide more reliable search results and make the forums perform a bit better.

The searches are now running on the Sphinx search server. Sphinx is designed for full-text searches and is a perfect match for the forums. Because the searches are running on the Sphinx server they no longer cause general forum slowdowns when a large # of searches are done at once.

If you are interested, there are a few tips & tricks you can now do to get more specific search results.

The "|" character allows you to do an OR search. e.g., search for: mario | zelda

The "+" character allows you to require a word to be part of the search. e.g., search for: (mario | zelda) +time

If you surround your search term in quotes (") then it will search for that exact combined term. See the difference between: of legend and "of legend" You'll notice that The Legend of Zelda is not included in the second search.

Good luck & good searching!

Another TV.com Anniversary
It's my tv.com anniversary today. It's hard to believe I've been at this site for 4 years already. It really doesn't seem that long. I was just thinking that this last year has gone by so fast. It seems like it was just last year's anniversary a couple of months ago. I've met so many wonderful people here and made so many friends. I'm glad I'm a part of this site.

Hubby's having surgery on his left foot again on July 13. While the first surgery fixed some things, it didn't fix everything and it created additional problems. He's still in constant pain and can't stay on his feet for any length of time. I guess it's easy for these things to go wrong because he's found that a lot of people have had the same issues after foot surgery that he's having. I really hope this second surgery fixes everything. You just can't do anything when your foot hurts all the time. When you're feet hurt, it's the only thing you can think about.

Work is going well, but I'm so busy there. I'm not complaining because it's better than being bored with nothing to do, but it gets so crazy sometimes. I prefer it to be steady rather than manic. I'm on call this week, but haven't been paged (touch wood). I don't really feel like going out to the plant after hours right now.

I haven't been watching a lot of television lately since just about everything is on hiatus. Torchwood is going to begin airing here on July 20 and I'm looking forward to that.

BBC America also aired the Doctor Who Christmas special on June 27. They'll be airing the rest of the specials instead of SyFy as well. I'm glad. They treat the show a lot better than SyFy did. SyFy cut scenes from every episode to make room for ads. The only time BBCA does that is when they re-air episodes that last an hour or more. They never cut it on the first airing, so we always have at least one chance to see the entire episode.

I'm renting Invasion from Netflix. I didn't see it when it aired and I'm sorry I didn't. It's an excellent show. It's too bad they cancelled it. It turns out that Shaun Cassidy is pretty good at creating stories. At any rate, I have 7 episodes left and I'm looking forward to them. I'm pretty sure it ends with a massive cliff hanger, though.

I've gotten hooked on another show by renting it from Netflix as well. It's called Dexter. Unfortunately, I don't have Showtime so I can't watch this when it airs. The season 3 DVD is going to be released next month, but I won't be able to watch season 4 in September.

It's been dreadfully hot here the last month and we've had only 1 day with any rain. It was only enough rain to wet the surface of the ground as well. The ground is so dry and we can't really water because it just evaporates. The city has even asked people not to water their yards on even number days. The temperature has reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius), but it feels like 110 degrees (43 degrees) with the heat index. I'm sure it's going to get worse because August is the hottest month of the year and it's been like this for the entire month of June. The electric bill is going to be huge. There's just no way to tolerate it without air conditioning. I sure hope we don't get another hurricane. The water is so warm, the thing would become massive fairly quickly.

That's it for me. I hope everyone is having a happy and safe 4th of July.

Submission Guidelines - Just a Repost
Nothing too thrilling here. Just thought I'd repost the submission guidelines I use. They appear on the forums of all currently-airing shows I edit, but better to have them here then in the forum of every show I edit.

-----

1 ) Look at what's already on the page. If there's nothing there yet, look at another episode page. If you want to know what name to use for a regular character (Dick vs. Captain Richard), or if a name should be bolded, or whether there should be double-spacing between quote lines, or whether quotation marks should be used, or where to use italics, do what's already been done. If you're not sure how to do the XHTML, click on Edit for an existing entry and see how it's done.

2 ) Don't steal from another site. Except for Quotes, everything should be in your own words (and that includes quote contextual material). Even summaries based on press releases should be rewritten as "your content." It's a TV.com requirement, it's copyright, and it's common courtesy.

3 ) Be accurate and provide a source. Unless you're an incredibly fast typist/writer and have an incredible ear for dialogue, pause the recording. Rewind. Transcribe the dialogue, rewind again, double-check. For episodes that haven't aired yet, always provide an original verifiable source in Comments. Provide as complete a URL as possible: if I can't find it, I can't accept it.

4 ) If you edit, use Comments to tell me what you're editing and why. Be specific. "Fixing 2 typos." doesn't help. "Changed "his" to "her" in third paragraph, changed "their" to "they're" in second paragraph" does. If something should be deleted, mark it for deletion and put the explanation in Comment, don't "argue" or give a "response."

5 ) Know basic grammar and punctuation. "I" is capitalized. Names are capitalized. Sentences get periods at the end (or question marks or exclamation marks). A single space goes after most punctuation except at the end of a sentence. Know the difference between "its" and "it's." ("It's" = "It is"). When speaking to someone and using their name, a comma goes before and after their name. "It's true that I love you, Fred, but I love you too, George." is correct. "Its true that i love you fred but I love you too,George" is not.

6 ) Don't duplicate. Particularly for major plot points, if the info is in the Recap, it doesn't need to be in Notes or Trivia. If a quote appears entirely in Allusions, it doesn't need to be in Quotes as well. Click on More Quotes/Trivia/Notes. You typically don't see everything on the episode's main page.

7 ) Don't anticipate. That's part of being accurate. Don't go by previews--sometimes scenes get cut or another version used when the episode goes to air. Don't assume an Allusion will be an allusion until you see the episode.

8 ) It's not personal. Don't insert stuff like "I" or "Don't you think" or "We all know..." Stick to the factual and put opinions, analysis, and speculation into your review.

9 ) Quotes. Quotes should be memorable, significant, and/or humorous. They should stand on their own and make sense to someone who hasn't seen the show, and represent quality writing. Don't use quotes just to "prove" something or indicate a key moment if the words aren't otherwise memorable, significant, or humorous. Try to focus on the key line or lines and avoid three paragraphs of "set up" quotes. Bold the speaker name, then put in an unbolded colon, then a space, then the line quote. Don't put quotation marks around each line. Hit a single Return/Enter for the next speaker's line. Contextual explanations should be used as little as possible, be as short as possible, put in parentheses, and italicized. For episodes that aren't currently premiering, a time code in the Comment section is preferred.

10 ) Notes. As per TV.com standards, Notes is for off-screen production-related stuff. Stuff the characters wouldn't know. Background music, special credit info, relevant background on the actors, in-jokes, etc. "What else they've been in" and "They're best known for" and "They've worked together before" is covered by the cast list section and its links, unless there's some kind of in-joke involved.

11 ) Trivia. As per TV.com standards, Trivia is for obscure yet on-screen stuff the viewer might not notice. This includes goofs. Plot points and other obvious stuff are often spoilers and are not Trivia--they should go in the Recap. According to TV.com guidelines, Trivia is not merely a catchall for anything that doesn't fit in the other categories. Nor is it the place for fan theories or speculation, or goofs based on same.

12 ) Allusions. As per TV.com standards, Allusions are for cultural references--other TV shows, movie, films, books. Always provide the single line of the quotation first that contains the Allusion (formatted as #9 above), then a single return, then the explanation. Internal continuity is pretty common in TV shows so unless it's obscure (Trivia), it's not an Allusion. The explanation (not cut-n-pasted) should be detailed enough that someone unfamiliar with the allusion can understand: roughly 20-50 words, one paragraph. Word definitions and translations are not Allusions (or Trivia or Notes, either). Allusions are deliberate and typically something the writers have the characters say. Allusions should be unique and reference the original source whenever possible, rather then another show that references the original source.

13 ) Summaries and Recaps. Summaries should be short and not give away any spoilers. Recaps should be a complete scene-by-scene account of the episode, without stage directions or meta-references like "In this scene...". Actor names don't go in summaries or recaps. Write it like you'd write a reference book entry. Don't include real-life info ("This season," actor listings, etc.). Save quotes for the Quote section (see #9 above).

-----

One last thing. If you submit something and it's rejected, remember: it's nothing personal. These standards are in place to promote accuracy, readability, and keep the episode pages from being too "cluttered" with extraneous info. If you get a rejection, read the Comments I provide, come here and look at these guidelines, and PM me if you have any questions. Some folks I had to reject the first time are now my most prolific contributors.

Inauguration Day and That's Not Me on XBox Live
It's been a while, so I thought I'd jump up on the ol' soapbox for a sec.

First of all, I just want to publicly air my support for the man who will, in less than an hour, be our new President. I'm not going into this new administration with blinders on, and I can safely say that I already question one or two of his ideas, but I do have faith that President Obama will have a positive effect on the office of the President, on the country as a whole, and on our perception in the larger world. He is inheriting a great opportunity, and a massive burden. Here's hoping that he (and we) can rise to the occasion.

And on a much more trivial note, my lovely wife just bought me an amazingly extravagant early birthday present: an XBox 360. This big lump sum purchase leaves us rather cash-poor at the moment, so no games other than the two that came with the system ("Lego Indiana Jones" and "Kung-Fu Panda"). I did, however, sign up for XBox Live, which is very cool. The only problem is that I had to sign up as "grailwolf13" because someone already had the name "grailwolf". It's very odd. That's the first time I've ever had anyone else take my usual name, and I'm not sure how to feel about it. Anyway, if you see a "grailwolf" on XBox Live, it's not me, but a "grailwolf13" uttering my usual catchphrase will be the genuine article. I won't be able to be online very often (at least, not playing), but if you see me around go ahead and introduce yourself. And if you need someone to catch bullets, fall off platforms, or get eaten by zombies, I'm your guy.

Hurdy gur,
-Marc

"Homepage Discussion" vs. "Official Episode Discussion"

Hello everyone, I thought I'd post the following PM I received from jkatj and the response I sent. I should've explained this earlier but if you all could help to get the word out I'd appreciate it.

"Hi waltmor, Sorry to bother you, but I have a question that I think you might be able to help me with. Lately, I've been noticing in addition to forums for shows with names like "Official Episode Discussion: [episode name]" there are sometimes show forums set up titled "Homepage Discussion: [episode name]." I've been wondering what different purpose the two are meant to have. While searching around trying to find an answer, I noticed that you started all the "Homepage Discussion" forums that I can find right now (for example in forums for "The Unit," "30 Rock," "CSI"). Could you fill me in on what should be discussed under "Homepage Discussion" vs. "Official Episode Discussion"? I appreciate your help"

The difference is that I'm trying to keep comments made on the homepage in the main feature block out of the official episode discussions. I have to associate a forum topic to each of the main homepage headlines now in order to accommodate the comments that are made. And I'd rather keep them outside the official discussion threads because they're shorter and much more casual than the entries in the official threads. Does that make sense?

If anyone has a better suggestion for what to title each of these new threads please let me know. I settled on "Homepage Discussion" because I thought that might be self-explanatory but if that's not working so well I can adjust it.

The Olympics Are Over... (part IV)

...and I know anyone who may still be reading these probably wants them to be over by now, too. Well, rest easy, today's is the last one.

Track and Field: The greatest Olympic misnomer (though it doesn't have much competition)... this could easily be 10-15 separate events. And probably should be. This, more than any other event/category of events, is the true Olympics. Well, except maybe race walking. I've recently read an article where it was compared to letting people who can't swim very well compete in the dog paddle, which was funny until I realized that the dog paddle is about the only style of swimming that isn't an Olympic competition (why? We should start a petition to the IOC to include it as soon as possible and correct this enormous oversight immediately!).

Sadly, if you ask NBC, the "field" part of Track & Field doesn't exist, or at least isn't worth any more than a brief mention. Ask me who won the long jump this year, and I'll be clueless (well, I'd look up the results, but you get the point). The most they've shown of any field event is a 5-minute recap, complete with both of the important participants' performances (usually, the American and the winner... maybe a glimpse of the other medalists). Oh boy, how exciting. Quite sad, because the field events, while not as quickly-developing, as, say, the sprints, can be just as fun to watch.

As for the "track", one cannot mention the 2008 competition without mentioning Usain Bolt, who, while not winningnearly as many medals as Michael Phelps in swimming, quickly put doubts even in NBC's minds about who the greatest athlete ever is (and thank goodness... the talk of Phelps as greatest athlete only lasted a couple of days, and I don't know how much more I could take of it). I mentioned before that Phelps won 3 golds "that matter" (to me, obviously not to Phelps or the American public) - one in an individual event, and 2 in relays. Bolt also won 3, and only 1 was in a relay... a more impressive performance by my count. Oh by the way, like Phelps, he won every event he entered, and unlike Phelps, he set a world record in every event he entered as well, a feat much more difficult in track & field than in swimming, where world records seem to fall every Olympics.

But enough comparing the two... they're both great, that much is clear. All three of Bolt's records impressed me a lot... the 100m record, because he was slow to start and was celebrating 15m from the finish, and still set a world record (I shudder to think how fast he might've been); the 200m record, because the record he broke was one that many thought would stand for decades, and he broke it running into a slight headwind; and the 4x100m record... well, first it has to be said that it is not Bolt's, but rather Jamaica's, since it was a relay... this impressed me because they broke it by 0.3s, a huge gap in the world of short-distance running.

I wish Bolt would have run the 400, and the 4x400... he was so dominant in the 200, I just can't see him dropping off so much over just 200 more meters that he wouldn't still win. Hopefully he'll run those in London in 4 years' time. Sadly, the speculation has already begun here that he may have been doping. Odd, no such speculation for Phelps, surely because Americans never dope (ahem... Tim Montgomery, Justin Gatlin, Marion Jones, anyone?). Anyway, I hope that no Olympians dope, but as that is not the case (several had already been disqualified for it), I at least hope Phelps and Bolt don't. Would be far too disgraceful for their respective sports otherwise.

Now, I recognize there were other track and field events besides those run by Bolt... unfortunately, I can't cover everything (and couldn't cover the field events if I wanted to, for reasons already mentioned), and those were certainly the most memorable.

Trampoline: Not sure why this is listed as a separate sport instead of being just one more apparatus in gymnastics. For what it's worth, its scoring system seemed better than that in gymnastics, so maybe it's not all bad. As for the competition itself, it was pretty interesting, although seemed to me to be quite dangerous... I wonder how many injuries happen in that sport.

Triathlon: Endurance sports such as the triathlon and marathon are unlikely to ever be all that exciting for spectators, myself included. Still, any athlete who participates in them, even if they are slightly crazy, has my respect...

Volleyball: I'm rather surprised by the success the US men enjoyed, considering volleyball is pretty much classified as a "girls' sport" here... with the US women also making the final, it offered plenty of opportunities for TV coverage, which is a good thing, because I found this along with badminton to be the most exciting of the actual sporting events (as opposed to pure athletic competitions like swimming and track & field) to watch. Congrats to the US for the excellent performances, though as with most sports, I wanted the US to lose (what can I say, the media's "patriotism" has the opposite effect on me than on the American public).

Water Polo: This is something I look forward to every time the Olympics roll around, and every time it disappoints. Why I look forward to it is beyond me, as odd as that may sound. Not a terribly boring sport, but there were better, perhaps made worse by my high expectations.

Weightlifting: Never ceases to amaze me how much those guys (and gals) can lift. Perhaps oddly, this was one of the most exciting sports for me, and the TV coverage was pretty good too, leaving me quite happy with it. Saw one competitor get hurt pretty badly, though... a shame, but this event is inherently dangerous, too.

Wrestling: The Greco-Roman variation didn't impress me too much... I said before that there is no Olympic competition for wrestling with one hand behind your back, but this is pretty close in terms of restricting the athletes and artificial rules. The freestyle, on the other hand, was much more fun to watch. The coverage wasn't too extensive in either variation, though. From what I did see, the scoring controversies that plagued the sport (according to what I read online) were nonexistent, fortunately, although there was one rather famous one during these games (I did not see the match that caused it, not even in replay), where a Swedish wrestler thought he was robbed of a victory in a semifinal, won the bronze in his next match, but declared he was not satisfied with anything less than gold, and during the medal ceremony, accepted the bronze medal, then promptly took it off his neck, placed it on the mat, and walked out of the ceremony in protest, for which he had that medal taken away by the IOC.

(Yes, that was one long sentence... I need to catch my breath after that one)

I guess I've seen worse ways to protest (see Taekwondo), and at least based on the few matches I've seen, the scoring was at least mostly accurate. Then again, I don't know too much about wrestling, so perhaps it's just that I don't know errors when I see them.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, that wraps it up. Overall, a good and enjoyable competition; let's hope future Olympics find ways to improve on it (although they're adding more events, I've heard... not a good start). In the meantime, bring on Vancouver 2010!

Someone Started Singing It Not Knowing What It Was

Today was a LONG day at work. I have to admit that I was watching the clock from the very first moment. Thus, it seemed the hands of the clock weren't moving, so that wasn't helping at ALL.

Not that I wanted to leave work, mind you. But I was watching the clock to see what time my next victim was clocking in.

Yes, April 1st is MY holiday. And I celebrated it in full glory this year.

In no particular order...

Our manager is pretty lenient on people clocking in "late". As long as the person has an isolated assignment, such as Cake Decorator, and don't abuse it, they came come and go as they please. In his opinion, it's important that they get the work done right, but not the exact moment of the day. (Note to the idiot bagboy who's YET to come even close to arriving on time. That doesn't apply to those us on the front end. Somebody's waiting on us to get there so they can take a break or go home. LEARN TO TELL TIME, FOR @#$%'S SAKE!!!)

Sorry about that. I guess I've been watching to much Hell's Kitchen and Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. Where was I?

Oh yeah.

To dairy clerk as he walks in, obviously still half-asleep. "Where have you been?!!! The yogurt case went out. The manager and department head have been loading product into bascarts and putting it in the cooler for the last thirty minutes. They're LIVID that your not here yet." That's adaptable to just about any department in the store.

Fun variation with front end employees who NEVER work the same shifts two days in a row. "What are you doing here? I thought you were off today." The major enjoyment from this one comes from the fact the employee walks all the way to the breakroom in the back of the store to check their schedule, and then has to walk all the way BACK to the front so they can clock in.

To opening office clerk as she walks in. "I'm having to check in the night checker's till because the CAST is offline." Gotta explain this one. I've no idea what C.A.S.T. stands for, but all checklane tills are controlled by this system. Nothing goes in or out of the safe unless it's been thru it. "And we can't get U-Scan open. It's giving us an unknown transmission error. Oh, and the second checker (due to clock in NOW) called in sick." I admit I ruined this prank by laughing when she did a U-turn without breaking stride.

This one took some timing. The set up required me to be coming back from a smoke break, and for the checklanes to be backed up DEEP. And for the victim to have been away from her car for several hours. "You drive (whatever the @#$% it was), don't you? I think you left your lights on." I swear I've never seen her check so fast in my life!!!

But the two highlights of the day...

To employee who recently transferred from another store. "You didn't park your car in the parking lot did you? Today?!!! Don't you realize what today is?!!! Good Lord, you NEVER leave your car in the parking lot on April Fool's Day. There's people in this store who @#$%ing LIVE for the opportunity to get away with messing with other employee's cars today. They'll let the air out of your tires, unplug all your spark plugs, or something to totally destroy your day. Call your husband and tell him you're coming home on break and he'll have to bring you to back to work. Tell you what, I'll watch U-Scan so you can hide your car until you can take it home." After she had parked her car WWWAAAYYY at the opposite end of the shopping center, she called her husband. I walked up to her while she was on the phone, and said "Uh... I TOLD you it was April Fool's Day, and that didn't provide any clue at all?"

(You have to love an practical joke that works because you specifically warn them they're being punked.)

I've saved the best for last. I didn't plan it. I was just smarting off to the boss, and pulled the what may just be one of the funniest April Fool's joke of all time.

All of our check lanes have a globe above the check lanes. Customers know that a lit globe means the check lane is open. This is important because cashiers sometimes have to step away from their stations, but our customers know to go ahead and unload groceries; the cashier will be right back.

Now that the set-up's out of the way...

I'd forgotten to flip the switch and the light wasn't on, even though I was already checking. The manager walked by and told me to turn the station light on. I turned to him and said "I tried to. But when I flipped the switch, the light went off. Flipping it the other way turn the light on. I think somebody wired this station up wrong."

I noticed the other cashier and his customer completely stopped what they were doing when the manager said "Oh. I'll call maintenance and get that fixed."

I actually had to say "Think about what I just said." before he remembered what day it was.

Something tell's me, next year when I ask for an extra day off so I can take a long weekend, THEY'LL LET ME !!!

Politics '08

First of all thanks to everyone for your support in my previous post. I appreciate it.

What I want to do today is weigh in on the 2008 Presidential race.

Now I know most of you all aren't old enough to vote this election cycle, but many of you are. I'd like to hear your opinions regardless of age, though.

On to my opinion. Early in 2007 when candidates were just getting their campaigns going, my buddy told me about this one guy (and that already disqualifies Hillary ) and I decided to look into him, as well as some of the other candidates.

I'm pretty conservative in my views so naturally I registered as a Republican. And the Republican field was abundant with candidates. So I began the narrowing down.

Well the guy I support now is the same guy I got to know early last year. Through watching his speeches, researching his views, etc. I was very impressed with his leadership ability and optimistic outlook for Anerica.

The candidate I want for President is Mitt Romney. He spent 25 years of his life in the private sector as a very successful businessman, where he accumulated a lot of personal wealth. In 2002, he was chosen to run the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, which were plagued by scandals and financial problems. Mitt Romney turned those games around, which occurred only months after 9/11, and uplifted the spirits of Americans after its most devastating attack in its history.

Then there's Massachusetts. From 2003-2007 Romney served as governor of Massachusetts. Results are seemingly mixed, but he made some very notable accomplishments. In MA, he was able to work with a Democratic legislature to get everyone in the state health care, without the kind of socialized medicine Hillary Clinton. He also inherited a $3 billion deficit and turned it into a surplus within his term without raising taxes. Think about that: Romney solved two of the major issues in this national election as a governor of MA. As President he would offer states incentives to try out and come up with their own health care systems and not insititute "Hillarycare." He would also be able to cut out the waste and duplication in the federal government and balance the budget during his administration.

Another advantage: as a businessman, he has been in the economy, seeing how jobs are created and lost. He would offer unique insight into the economy and could prevent us from moving into a recession. He has proposed a broad economic stimulus plan (worth over $200 billion) that would, among other things, lower the income tax rate for those making roughly $95,000 a year and less to 7.5% from 10%, retroactive to 2007. He'd also eliminate payroll taxes on workers over age 65. And he'd eliminate taxes for those making $200,000 or less on capital gains, interest, etc. View his full stimulus plan at mittromney.com.

Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out there. Let the debating begin!

The Christmas and New Year Blog

This Christmas was pretty good, I got a leather jacket, 100 dollars cash, 50 dollar gas gift card, DVDs. Also I'd like to say Happy New Year to all of TV.com. This year my New Years Resolution is: To get through the 2008 without going crazy

I'm still enjoying Netflix that I got 12 months free of from being in the audience of Millionaire but a word of advice if you get Netflix you should get 2 at a time unlimited. The free one they gave us is 1 at a time unlimintated which means that I can only have 1 DVD at my house at a time it's annoying because it's slow, and sometimes you want to watch more than 1 movie in a couple of days. When you send the DVD back you get the next one really fast but it's still better to be able to have two at a time. I'm still not sure if it would be worth paying for after my free subscription runs out, but I still do enjoy having it.

This has been one of those weeks ...
... when I kind of wonder why I never followed through on that whole plan to be a translator at the UN.

After two episodes (for the most part):
1) Rather odd so far: Watching a lot more television this season than I had thought
2) I haven't seen a show I have disliked yet

Sunday:
8 pm: Simpsons....................................................
8:30 pm: nothing (I keep recording King of the Hill, but haven't watched an episode yet)

9 pm: Family Guy ...............................................
9:30 pm: slight chance see American Dad (first episode did not air because Family Guy 1 hour; second episode cut off after 5 minutes because cable company decided to update my software - for the rest of the night; haven't seen an episode yet)

Monday:
8 pm: Chuck - Have actually rather enjoyed this show, though second episode wasn't as good as first.
How I Met Your Mother - still watching, still good
8:30 pm: The Big Bang Theory - second episode not as good as first, but still best on TV
9 pm: Heroes - Haven't seen second episode yet, but first was . . goodish - the "twins" are annoying so far.
10 pm: Journeyman - I rather like this show - really surprised. thought it would be annoying. And I was just going to give it a shot. glad I gave it a shot. expect it to be cancelled shortly, but still, glad I gave it a shot.

Tuesday: .....................................................
8 pm: NCIS - I've been recording it, but haven't seen it yet - haven't seen anything from Tuesday at 8pm yet
9 pm: Reaper - second episode slightly more interesting that first; will continue to watch
10 PM: Boston Legal missed first episode, haven't seen second but recorded . . someday see again.

Wednesday:
8 pm: Back to You - second episode better; will continue to watch
8:30 pm: 'Til Death - it has some rather funny moments, but it is just hard for me to get into it.
9 pm: Bionic Woman - I watched the first episode when the night the second one aired, then watched second episode. Actually rather like this one. Surprised.
10 pm: CSI: NY - still recording, will get around to watching someday.

Thursday: Really glad they reaired the pilot of Reaper on this night, otherwise . . .waiting for Scrubs. Will watch tonights 30 Rock because of Seinfeld.
9:30 pm: Scrubs - 10/25

Friday: 8 pm: nothing
9 pm: Moonlight - (haven't watched yet)
10 pm: Las Vegas - watched this show again for first time since first or second season. Like Tom Selleck. Show really was intro to Selleck and wrap up of last season, and why certain characters staying or going. I'll watch/record next episode and then make decision if will continue to watch.

Saturday - So far it has allowed me to record certain shows I had missed.

Still No Level Fix; New Guide
Despite never having my high-20's level restored, I've picked up a new guide, Katie and Orbie . I had written to the studio some weeks ago asking for an episode list, and the guy was nice enough to give me about two and a half seasons of synopses as well (which I re-wrote of course). The show, which ran for 6 seasons, never came out on DVD in this country (it only has in France and is now hard to find) but if it ever does I can pick it up and get the rest of the ep synopses.

Giglio (no, not 'gigolo'...)
It's funny how it's likely that all my blog posts from now on will not be about TV, but my "real" life. There's TV life and real life for me. TV life consists of me watching stuff, but not really talking about it. Real life is everything else. But I digress...

I recently went to NY and ran into this crazy Italian festival called the Giglio. How is everyone doing? You guys better not be harrassing Danmod. Or Jaxiecracks. I'll get you!

check out this dope video of the Giglio feast, including Rocky theme song!

Treasure Trooper Help

Anyone interested in doing TreasureTrooper (which is detailed in my post below), please do at least one offer. If five people sign up through my link and do one offer that approves, I get a special item needed for the treasure hunt.

If you sign up, I suggest doing a survey beginning with "WS", such as "WS - Getaway." If you want a list of quick-approving offers to make $20 fast, as well as some tips, you can send me a PM after signing up.

Thanks!
