...And it happened AGAIN!!!
First off. Sorry I haven't been on here in like a week... well longer than that. The stupid site hasn't let me log on. Love how each time there is an update on a site I get less and less access to it .

---------------

Anyway.

So last Tuesday recruiter told me (over the phone) that they had finally tracked down somone to run MEPS and it would be set for Monday the 21st and Tuesday the 22nd, but to call back on Friday to make sure nothing changed...

On friday I was working out at the gym (going to go home and call recruiter after the workout, beings afternoon seemed to be the best time to get hold of him....) Anyway, when I was on the tredmill who do I see getting out of his car, the recruiter - in to sign up somoene with a membership to the gym. I asked him if things were still a go for next week (this week). He said it was a go, to call at 10am on Monday to check in, "We'd be leaving at between 2 to 2:30 pm" - same plan that had been set up the last 2 times.

Early monday I call at 10am on the button... no answer, but left a vm to check in, figured he just didn't get to the phone. I had things to get done and was going to be downtown around 1:15 so I could just run in the office and check in with him in person - had to get to the bank to get my paperwork...

Well... I tried to call again when I was at the bank (to make sure I got all the paperwork I needed....) again no answer... again not to worried, figured I'd just go across the street to the office and if I needed somehting else I could just walk back to the bank...

BUT!!! when I walked down the hall to the office to go in the door... locked... see a tag on the door saying it would be closed from "Dec 21 - January 5th 2010" ?!?!?! WTF!!! It annoyed me, but... I figured he said we'd be leaving at 2-2:30 so maybe he'd just be out in the parking lot with the van... beings he said the 5 of us were going... so I start calling both numbers over and over left a couple vms just to make sure things were still happening with MEPS... no returned calls...

So come 1:50 I get there and start waiting in the parking lot, calling over and over... by 3:30 not only am I pi$$ed off but I decided to go home, because obviously he wasn't going to show, nor answer his G-D phone

So let's just say I've been rather MAD for a few days. As soon as the recruiting offices in Spokane open I'll be driving out there to try and find a new recruiter - yet to find any other recruiters within like 100 miles of here, so looks like the over 300 miles round trip drive I wanted to avoid is the route I'll be taking. Not to mention I'll be reporting him to his chain of command, he thinks I'll just let him jerk me around and delay my enlistment for over a month now... he's got another thing comeing.

I've already been informed that the MOS I wanted won't be an option for me, unless I wait like 6months to a year. Because training slots for it are already full for the next two cycles . So now I have to come up with an alternative option - nothing I want as much as I wanted MP. So unless a new recruiter can get them to take in consideration that this recruiter delayed me - costing me the slot - I won't get it. It really ticks me off because I know I'd be able to score high enough on ASVAB to get it.

Figure there are only 3 reasons he didn't show on Monday. 1 - It was cancled and he didn't bother calling me to tell me. 2 - The time was changed and he didn't bother calling me to tell me we would be leaving eairlier in the morning, so by the time I called at 10 they were already gone. 3 - he lied to me on Tuesday the week before because he didn't want me to call him everyday asking what the progress was, and he lied to my face on Friday that MEPS was happening at all - beings he knew full well the office would be closed and locked on Monday. HE NEVER MENTIONED ONCE BOTH TIMES I TALKED TO HIM THAT IT WOULD BE CLOSED, he made every indication that it would be open, he'd be there, and we'd have MEPS.

So now I'm stuck for another few weeks, have to wait till I can get a new recruiter, will have to start all over with the paperwork (atleast I've got all my stuff gathered up so I won't have to wait a few days contacting my references again, or tracking down addresses), and have to figure out how to get in and out of town when we have 1 car and mom needs it for work - not to mention it is going to suck driving that far when there is no heat in the car, and we gotta have the engine worked on before it can be driven that far - taking it in on Monday to see how much it's gonna cost.

------------------------------------------

Got gym membership for my birthday so it's one less thing to worry about.

also got Bones s4, SV s8, and K XY s3 for Christmas.

Gave mom new slippers and a couple movies (Night at the Musium 1+2, National Treasure 2, and a Leathal Weapon 1-4 combo pack) how I love the bargin bin at WalMart.

we used part of her bonus to buy her a new DVD player (her old one sucked bad, wouldn't play any newer dvds without freezing, or messing up the picture) also got us a Metal Detector - we've wanted one for a few years and found a nice one, ON SALE , so it was like 1/4 the regular price. Tried it out at the sand dunes yesterday, but we only lasted like 20 min outside....toooooooooooo cold (25 degrees).

-------------------------------------------

Other than that nothing going on. Job hunt is totally stalled out, no one is hiring.

so that's all I have

Hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas/holiday.

*hugs*

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!

I haven't been on in a long time. Mostly because of school and because I sometimes have problems logging in. Anyway, I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Hope everyone had a wonderful day.

Christmas this year for my family was kind of low key. We really didn't get that much. Mostly because my parents paid for me to have laser corrective eye surgery. That is the best present they could have ever given me. To be able to see without glasses. It's so amazing.

What I did get this year is The Big Bang Theory: season 1, the Wicked soundtrack, a new cell phone, money, and a book about Bon Jovi. I plan on spending my money buying Psych: season 3, The Big Bang Theory: season 2, and Kyle XY: season 3. I already bought a Supernatural t-shirt. I love my new cell phone. It's touch screen, has a keyboard, and it's blue (which is my favorite color). Plus, it has Internet and text messaging.

Bla bla bla

Hi everybody!!

Wow, it's been a long time. I haven't really been to tv.com so much lately, I've been Super-busy, and I hope it will begin to slow down abit from now on.

So what has been happening lately? This morning I passed a really big exam that I've been studying for for the last two weeks. YAY! It was really important because it was 1/3 out of all the course-points I have to take during my ph.d. I'm almost done with the courses now, which is great! On top of that my research is really moving along right now. I'm presenting my data all over, this week alone I'll be doing two presentations, and it just takes forever to prepare. I'm almost done planning a week-long-trip to the states in January where I'm going to meet a lot of important people who hopefully will give me even more to do...

My maternity-leave starts on the 12th of February. I can't wait! Because I'm a ph.d.-student I actually get really good terms on my leave, which also means that I can start it up to 6 weeks before I give birth. I know that I'm going to be huge by that time, but I can't wait to get some time for myself and really indulge before everything is about the baby...

The pregnancy is going really well, no problems so far. The baby is kicking all the time, and the hubby loves it! My appetite has become smaller - thankfully - so I'm not eating all the time anymore. I'm now in week 25, about 5 months, and I've only gained 3 kgs so far! Because I was a bit overweight before I got pregnant I have to watch out for the extra kilos even more than normal weight-people. So that means I can't just indulge in candy and chocolates, even though that's all I wonna do... But I guess so far it's working for me.

On the tv-side. I'm soooo hooked on Fringe at the moment. I'm still on season 1, but it's really interesting, and I really like the X-files-feel the show has. I'm eager to see what happens... Besides Fringe, I haven't been watching too much tv lately. Off course I've managed to keep up with Supernatural, and even though I know a lot of you disagree (hmm... Shazz??), I really like this season so far. The last epi before the break was awesome, and the guy that plays Lucifer is just so perfect in that role...

Anyway, no more ramblings from me, I'll better get back to work!

Hugs Tina (and baby...)

PHotobucket rumors oPH my demise are greatly exxxxagerated

NEWS BREAK: Phixed the PhotoBucket Thing,
Now on to My Little SCRUBBIES

Well this is a phine mess... when did the Phucks at PhoBuck decide to ex'pho'liate we occasional visitors??? Apparently in the last several weeks, as, out I am loathe to phind. (Lest the grammar gestapo stick their wee brains into the mix as well).

Was going to wonder/wander on about the phact that one of my phaves, SCRUBS, has seen phit to launch yet a third time (coming to a TV near you, and mine on 12/1/09, ABC - check your local listings). Can't wait to see who has come back (the phour males I know and two of the cuter, 'new' phemales I can surmise).

I am phearful that this may turn out to be a 'Godphather III' situation, which would really, truly turn me ophph, as I still watch up to 10 SCRUBS reruns a week (can't help myselph). Have seen all episodes between phour times (the very most recent) and twenty (seasons II and III, anyone) times, and iph they mess too much with the basic dynamics, I am aphraid the whole body oph the work will be tainted.

But, enouph (?) railing... I am ophph to visit other bloggies and make snide remarks to all my droogies.

Later.

So Long, Farwell, Au Weidersein, Goodbye!

Hi there

Its been a while I know *looks shifty*

so to get straight to the point this is gonna be my last blog on here... i think its fair to say that my lil (okay... huge) love affair with tv.com is finally at an end... too many of my fave people have left or have lost the will to blog... so for me its just not the same place anymore...

i still plan to comment on blogs so i wont be gone entirely but u've all put up enough with my ramblings for 2 years and i thank you for lending an ear, providing thought provoking, interesting, funny and sometimes down right dirty comments.

I value all the friendships I've made and enjoyed the insights into your lives, thoughts and opinions you've been kind (and honest) enough to share,

So....

To Eveyone

thanx

Love Tish

So... here's an update.

My dog won't stop barking. lol

Well recently ive become very bored and decided to visit this site since i havent really in forever :/ sorry.

So instead of a million people asking me how am i, I'll just tell you

Well i've been great. I just started my senior year in high school, and its pretty good haha. I'm definitely not complaining. I have super easy (but boring) classes and i get off like at 12:30 so, yup, no problems there.

I've become a twilight freak well kinda, lol. im so addicted to the books. I just finished reading New Moon and can't wait to start the next one hahah. I haven't seen any of the movies though, not YET >

I'm currently trying to decide on a career choice thing. Its hard >:[ I wanna do something with photography, but i want something promising and stable. I dont really know what jobs are like that. Any help? If not, I was thinking of journalism, but also being a math teacher, or a pre-k teacher. hahah i have no idea. Ill figure it out eventually though.

I got a new ipod the new nano. i love it with all my heart.

Hmm, i guess thats all thats going on in my life. :/ lol

Ill try to get on more, maybe its possible i miss people on here? maybe, possibly

Watching V...

First of all, the following part will most likely contain spoilers, so be careful if you didn't watch the episode. Consider yourself warned

This week, the much anticipated and awaited new ABC show V started. And looking at the numbers, a lot of people tuned in to see the arrival of our new friends from outerspace. The story: Aliens visit our Earth to say hello and assure how nice and lovely they are. And to show that Aliens don't necessarily look ugly and grey. No, they look like us, only better. Blinded by all this handsomeness, people clap their hands and live happily ever after. Even healthier because our new friends offer health care for everyone. You might say this sounds a little boring. Well, lucky for you, we have FBI agents who have to deal with terrorists planning to strike in this moment of turmoil and excitement to fulfil our need for action. And these terrorists are ugly and fast and lethal. Boredom defeated, nice pilot done.

Okay, I might add that these terrorist are Visitors too. Personally, that makes me thinking these Visitors might be up to something bad. Like killing all of us. Well, I'm more the suspicious type ... We will see. Unfortunately not too soon. ABC won't show more than the first four episode this year. The remaining 9 episodes will come back next year. By the way: ABC that's a joke!

Let's face it. The pilot cheats a little when it makes us believe that we wouldn't panic facing huge spaceships. I would. I watched Independence Day. Not to forget E.T. (probably my first contact with extraterrestrial life). And E.T. was such a cutie, still people panicked. Ok, they might feared his appearance and our Visitors here look too good to be true. Come on, that can't be right! The world just looks a little too normal and peaceful after this life changing, world upside down turning event.

And Alan Tudyk I knew you were up to something after Dollhouse .

Well, did you watch it? Did you like it? Will you watch it later? Are you happy to see Lost's Juliet kicking aliens?

Otherwise I wish you all a nice weekend and thanks for reading

P.s.: I promised I would dedicate this blog to Vman because I didn't posted a birthday (Halloween) blog earlier for him. Consider it done!

P.p.s.: I forgot to add that Vman is convinced that he solved the mysterious title of that show and that they actually named that show after him. Thinking about it, it makes totally sense. Vman, you are the head behind this conspiracy, right? I knew you were up to something!

P.p.p.s.: One last post-post-postscript: I also promised Vman to announce the Comeback of our beloved and successful Ronald McDonald and his Adventures. Soon to be remastered and reposted on Vman's Blog. Stay tuned, you won't wanna miss it !

When the walls came down all the way to hell [this may be my last blog here...]

Title from the song Tweeter and the Monkey Man by The Headstones.

Ok... this is a short update (I think... I might ramble ). In a way to say goodbye, well at least to some of you. Please don't untrack me cause I might come back, but at least for now I'm leaving. I'm trying to get into Livejournal, cause it's much bigger and you can find lots of people with the same obsessions as you, also as an icon maker it's much more fun... But you guys are still 1000 more times awesome!!

I'll be here to comment on really selected blogs. If you're on this list I'll still comment on your blogs (and it means that you are very, very awesome. People who are not on this list are only awesome as well just not as much)

MarWash: Cause you're hilarious and I'd miss being called Dead Thing too much to ever stay away from you

Winterbeaviour: You better still talk to me on twitter and MSN even though I'm not on MSN, I'd miss you too damn much if you didn't!!

ChuckDreyfusky (or however you spell it. THAT'S MACK!!!): Itmy mission in life is still to meet DB, NF and CKR and find out your real name...

Mafalada: I already promised you I will comment on every blog you write and I'm a little disappointed you won't talk to me today I'm home alone and I know you watched FF, made icons and were on tv.com (yes I'm still cyberstalking you )

Emma5000: I wouldn't leave you now that you've finally gotten a friend that watches Due South as well I'm really surprised you haven't convinced anyone else to watch it... it's really not that hard to get people to watch shows you know, I do it all the time

Tish4dw: I love your lil AB obsession way too much to ever be able not to read your blogs

BuffyAngel4evr_: Dude you're awesome You have both Buffy and Angel in your username, you love Supernatural as much as me and you're obsessed with CKR as well Random fact: I've read every single one of your blogs But I didn't get the time to comment on your first blog cause right after I read it I had to go to a birthday party

PirateJess: I love your randomness, and we already talk pretty much every day

Gix_Mix: Dude I hate your school! It's keeping you from being online as much as I'd like to I'll totally take any chance I can get to talk to you.

Turtopseries (sp?) : Cause I could never stay away from a blog that's all about hot guys!

Supering: Cause you're a fellow Norwegian

Charmed*insert some kind of number*: Shane!! Dude I'll try to comment on your blogs I didn't comment on your last cause I suck. But you're awesome and you know it

& most other people that don't blog very often

There may be some more people on this list... but I can't be bothered to think about it more. Because I already blogged today and yeah... but most likely if you're not on that list I have to say goodbye to you I really wish I had the time to be here too, but it's just that TV.com isn't nearly as fun as it used to be and I can't be bothered to spend much time here if it's not...

I miss you a lot. I even miss the ones I sometimes talk to cause we don't get to talk nearly enough

If anyone is wondering how and what I'm doing, I'm just watching lots of stuff with Callum... still very obsessed. I'm behind of half of the shows I watch, including Castle which is on my top 10 list... I don't even want to watch Supernatural all that much and it's my favorite running show. I'm not even sure how much I want to watch stuff with Callum I enjoy it a lot but I'm not really excited about it. I hate this kind of mood, when I'm not in the mood to watch stuff. School has been going a little too well Life is alright... I've gotten a lot of friends in my **** which is nice But I'm finding myself getting annoyed with Ester because she doesn't get me *sigh* and she's my best friend... I don't even get easily annoyed with people (things yes, people no). And I don't know what to do with that... I could talk to her, but I'd really prefer to avoid that... I really need a long ramble about this, but I won't do it here...

My parents are in Oslo today Which means I have the house for myself

Oh and if you want to I'm sure I could find the time to blog once a month, but I just figured you wouldn't be interested in that if I didn't comment on your blogs and I get that...

You can contact me here, and I'd love to talk to every single one of you so please do!!

Daria_vetvik@hotmail.com - MSN/email

dvldb.livejournal.com - LJ, I'll be blogging here! I did a picspam today

dvldb - @ twitter

PM - I'll still be visiting this site at least once a day, which means that if you PM me I will answer you I love PMs!!

I promise to answer comments on this blog even though I don't really have time for it

BAM said the lady!

Stay awesome

What's that lurking behind the shadows

of the light reflecting from the moon. It's me. Not much of a premise is it. Kind of halloween humor. Which, as many now know - or should- tomorrow is halloween. Yes, the time when kids, and the occasional older person, come knocking at your door to ask for candy and various forms of treats. I may be stuck on the side of the other door. The one handing out the treats. Unfortunately, if there even was one, I can not attend a halloween party. Unfortunately, or luckily in my case, I have work. Which on that note is quite good; but good depends on how you define it, I define it as having some adequate days. Unlike this morning when I got called a f**king idiot. It's all because I asked buddy what he wanted to drink. He couldn't understand the question and got pissed and swore at me. And I was the idiot. Other then that it's great. The managers are people you can carry on with. I act serious towards one and she gets mad. It's fun on my part. But that's due to the fact I'm cynical. It's not that I try to be, I just can't help it. This isn't much of an update. Eventually my lethargic body will get enough energy to type it out. Until that's all I can type. For those who can, enjoy halloween. The bad side to working that night will be drunks, drunks in costume and some other people. People who talk like they're black. Not black the people; not to deifne people by color, but the stereotypical black that people attribute to bad diction; the typical slang. But we'll see tomorrow night how everything unfolds. Later.......

The more I think about it...the more I wish dad had lied to us. Yeah, me too.

Hey guys...I'm back. Hope everyone is doing well.

******

So I haven't been around much....just been dealing with things. Sorry I haven't been visiting your blogs lately but I should be around more now.

Had our 4th annual pumpkin carving party for the kids last weekend. It was a good time and they did a great job...

Here's the one I did for the party...

More to come this weekend.....because this weekend is HALLOWEEN!!!!

******

Now on to some other news. As you know I've been dealing with the lost of my Smokey Joe. But sometimes in sadness there comes happiness. Now I struggled with whether it was too soon or not...but in the end I decided that these furballs needed a home. They were found in the parking lot across from where I work and are only about 6 weeks old...so tiny.

So let me introduce my little munchkins....

Buju & Ziggie

******

So next week blog should get back to the normal...can you see it, quotes and music.

But for this week I will just get onto Supernatural....from 2 week's ago....I Believe The Children Are Our Future.

**hugs and peace out**

Impala!!!

It finally happened you guys!! The car drove straight past me! It was so close! I could have touched it! I could have jumped into it! (The roof was down. No idea why as it is freezing during day, and even colder in the evening..) It is so gorgeous! I got practiacally star-struck! I could have sucked in all the details, but I wasn't able to (I was able to detect some writing on the side and on the tail, but I wasn't able to read, that would require too much constructive thinking ), coz it went right by me, and it looks amazing, and it(the front) looks just like Metallicar (except for not having the awesome side-head-lights), I just imagined Dean and Sam driving by, and it was beautiful and it went right past me! I'm almost still shaking (And now it drove past my window) I want that car!!! I was just coming out from supper (The school and, obviously, it's cefeteria is one building, the dorm building is another one), and I am glad I went in kind of late, and ate just what I did and spent exactly the amount of time I did, and left as I did, coz if just one of those took longer/shorter, I'd miss it! I was walking back, had just gone out the door, when I heard a car and automatically turned my head to the sound. I saw the lights (it was already getting rather dark out) and I thought "..that...can it be..? no... is it?" (Bless SN eps showing us Metllicar driving off in the dark. I can ID it by the headlights ) it came a little closer, and, it had music on (not rock some Norwegian summer classic. I guess he needed a summer song to keep himself warm), but the engine... this was a big one...and the lights... it came even closer, and, in the light from the surrounding bulidings, and the street lights, and the tiny bits of remaining daylight, I could see it, this truly was the Impala! And the timeing was so perfect, coz the road goes between the dorm and the school, and with the phase I was walking and the speed the car was driving (which was slow) I walked straight onto it It was so awesome! It is gorgeous!!! This chick was walking next to me, and as the car had passed (not as it passed, was too busy staring/drooling to be able to form words), "I love that car!" "Yea, it was pretty cool." "I'm so gonna convince him to sell it to me." "Are you?" "Yes!" "It's probably expencive.." "...Yea... I do have a plan tho, I'm gonna make him run over me just slightly, and then I'll get the car as compensation." "..Right... nice plan.." Ahh... I was so lost in my thoughts as I got up here. I went into the kitchen (there's a kitchen in the doorm building aswell, but we get food at the cafeteria 3 times/day) to put something in the fridge and grab some water, and as I was about to go out the door, another chick came in, and I jumped

BTW, I know, too many details, all you really needed to know was that the car just drove past me. But I am on an Impala-high right now, so sue me (or don't, coz I'm gonna need my money to buy the car..)

(So I'll go on ) I actually haven't seen the car in...2-3 weeks. Last week we were on break, so I wasn't here, so, not surprising I didn't see it then. But I don't think I (There it was again! Yes, I do look out the window every time a car drives by It's kind of depressing as about 95% of the time it's not Impala, but it is awesome everytime it is Impala, and I don't wanna miss it ) saw the car at all the week before that either, if I did it was on Mon or Tue, and I hadn't seen it this week before now. I was getting worried. I was in the potatoefield again yesterday, but the car wasn't home so I couldn't take convinient staring/drooling breakes like I did last time

Ok...That is enough Impala rambling for now SN Thrusday tomorrow! And then SN Friday the day after that! I am really looking forward to this one! It looks way, way heavy, possibly too heavy, so I'm not sure I'm gonna like it, but I'm still so very excited! I was tepted to see the prewiev on Facebook, I never do that! I am a complete spoilefobe, so all I know is what the SOON preview in the last ep showed, and the ep description on tv.com. And the title of course. I am expecting a lot of Cas, hopefully some Metallicar action, and hopefully I'll like it.

Hehe..I'm all hyper now after the Impala sighting(s)...

Hope you're all doing good! *hugs* *special hugs for KDT*

Ig Nobel Prizes

Does anyone know how to apply the Runge-Kutta 4th order Method to a differential equation in Matlab? Grrr...

Anyway, in light of the fact that the Nobel Prizes are currently in the news (no comment), I have decided to make a list of some of my favourite Ig Nobel Prize winners.

For those of you who don't know, the Ig Nobel Prize is considered by some a sort of "anti-Nobel", but it is, in fact, a sort after Prize in the scientific community. The people awarded the Prize usually show up at the ceremony, and are awarded their Prize by Nobel laurettes!! To be more specific, The Ig Nobel is to "honor
achievements that first make people laugh, and then make them think"

And now for the list:

2009
VETERINARY MEDICINE PRIZE: Catherine Douglas and Peter Rowlinson of Newcastle University, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, UK, for showing that cows who have names give more milk than cows that are nameless.

PEACE PRIZE: Stephan Bolliger, Steffen Ross, Lars Oesterhelweg, Michael Thali and Beat Kneubuehl of the University of Bern, Switzerland, for determining — by experiment — whether it is better to be smashed over the head with a full bottle of beer or with an empty bottle.

CHEMISTRY PRIZE:
Javier Morales, Miguel Apátiga, and Victor M. Castaño of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, for creating diamonds from liquid — specifically from tequila.

MEDICINE PRIZE: Donald L. Unger, of Thousand Oaks, California, USA, for investigating a possible cause of arthritis of the fingers, by diligently cracking the knuckles of his left hand — but never cracking the knuckles of his right hand — every day for more than sixty (60) years.

LITERATURE PRIZE:
Ireland's police service (An Garda Siochana), for writing and presenting more than fifty traffic tickets to the most frequent driving offender in the country — Prawo Jazdy — whose name in Polish means "Driving License".

2008
PEACE PRIZE. The Swiss Federal Ethics Committee on Non-Human Biotechnology (ECNH) and the citizens of Switzerland for adopting the legal principle that plants have dignity.

BIOLOGY PRIZE.
Marie-Christine Cadiergues, Christel Joubert, and Michel Franc of Ecole Nationale Veterinaire de Toulouse, France for discovering that the fleas that live on a dog can jump higher than the fleas that live on a cat.

ECONOMICS PRIZE.
Geoffrey Miller, Joshua Tybur and Brent Jordan of the University of New Mexico, USA, for discovering that professional lap dancers earn higher tips when they are ovulating.

CHEMISTRY PRIZE.
Sharee A. Umpierre of the University of Puerto Rico, Joseph A. Hill of The Fertility Centers of New England (USA), Deborah J. Anderson of Boston University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School (USA), for discovering that Coca-Cola is an effective spermicide, and to Chuang-Ye Hong of Taipei Medical University (Taiwan), C.C. Shieh, P. Wu, and B.N. Chiang (all of Taiwan) for discovering that it is not.

2007

CHEMISTRY: Mayu Yamamoto of the International Medical Center of Japan, for developing a way to extract vanillin -- vanilla fragrance and flavoring -- from cow dung.
(PRESS NOTE: Toscanini's Ice Cream, the finest ice cream shop in Cambridge, Massachusetts, created a new ice cream flavor in honor of Mayu Yamamoto, and introduced it at the Ig Nobel ceremony. The flavor is called "Yum-a-Moto Vanilla Twist.")

LINGUISTICS:
Juan Manuel Toro, Josep B. Trobalon and Núria Sebastián-Gallés, of Universitat de Barcelona, for showing that rats sometimes cannot tell the difference between a person speaking Japanese backwards and a person speaking Dutch backwards.

PEACE: The Air Force Wright Laboratory, Dayton, Ohio, USA, for instigating research & development on a chemical weapon -- the so-called gay bomb" -- that will make enemy soldiers become sexually irresistible to each other.

ACOUSTICS
: D. Lynn Halpern (of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, and Brandeis University, and Northwestern University), Randolph Blake (of Vanderbilt University and Northwestern University) and James Hillenbrand (of Western Michigan University and Northwestern University) for conducting experiments to learn why people dislike the sound of fingernails scraping on a blackboard.

LITERATURE:
The Internet entrepreneurs of Nigeria, for creating and then using e-mail to distribute a bold series of short stories, thus introducing millions of readers to a cast of rich characters -- General Sani Abacha, Mrs. Mariam Sanni Abacha, Barrister Jon A Mbeki Esq., and others -- each of whom requires just a small amount of expense money so as to obtain access to the great wealth to which they are entitled and which they would like to share with the kind person who assists them.

PEACE: Claire Rind and Peter Simmons of Newcastle University, in the U.K., for electrically monitoring the activity of a brain cell in a locust while that locust was watching selected highlights from the movie "Star Wars."

2004

MEDICINE: Steven Stack of Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, USA and James Gundlach of Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, USA, for their published report "The Effect of Country Music on Suicide."

CHEMISTRY:
The Coca-Cola Company of Great Britain, for using advanced technology to convert ordinary tap water into Dasani, a transparent form of water, which for precautionary reasons has been made unavailable to consumers.

We will miss you Scott! 2001 - 2009 RIP

Two days ago it was my birthday, i turned 16. But that isn't what i come to say. My beautiful beloved cat Scott is gone

Now remember i'm timewise ahead of most of you just to let you know.

Atabout this time now when i am typing this, Colin my older brother called me outside. I ran outside to find Scott my ginger and white fluffy cat is lying on his back bearly breathing and in pain obviosly. I then runinside call me mum, then call the vet. Mum was 15 minutes away. While then, i grab a laundry clothes basket big enough to fit Scott in. Then i catch Steven my black and white cat to take him to the vet too as he has a skin condition that needs an injection every now and agin. We left poor Mark home as if it came to something, Mark would be very upset. We took him all the while he was making wired noises and was meowing. Scott never meowed normaly. I had never heard him make those noises before. At the vet waiting room, Scott went ballistic as a huge boisetress dog came in woofing like there was no tommorrow. He gave Colin a good shredding round the neck with his claws. Finally we went through. Dr. Ian our vet was concered. He decided it wasnt a snake bite like last time, in which he almost died, but it was probably another toxin, or poiseness spiders. Herbicide i think was his gut guess. I don't even know what that is to thell the truth. We all took our last and final pat hoping it wasn't but Scott was in pain so Ian quickly took him out back to give him oxygen and genarally stabilise him. We never got around to Steve. Dad had showed up too and offerd to play curior to get the blood test back fast. Worried and upset we got back home.

A little while later i went outside and found mum. She had found some rat poo. Maybe Scott was silly enough to eat rat bait. I believed he was. We rang the vet, but no, Ian doubted it.

Later that night around 7pm to 7:30pm the vet rang up. He didn't make it. He had rapidly deteriourated. There was no hope to revive him.

Scotty man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Scott is gone. I will never see him again.

My mum found Scott as an abandened kitten dumped in a supermarket carpark. He was tiny, covered in fleas, eyes gunked up and scared. Mum picked him up drove back to her work. She didn't the stuff she had come to get orriginally.

My best day that year was running over the primary school oval with my brother, climbing into the car to find mum in the back seat with a little kitten in a cardboard box. We all instantly fell in love with him. We took him home and named him Scott after my mum's work. Then when mum cleaned him up. He became our newest family member. I was thrilled. Only 10 months or so earlier, i had just got a baby brother Mark.

I remember playing with Scott as he grew up:with Mark, while renovating the dining room (the room i'm using the computer in now) and now i feel incredibly guilty telling Scott off when he chased Millie.

I know i shouldn't get too upset, too late for that, because in the last few hours of his good life, Scott was in pain, not being able to breath. Scott did have a good life, an unfortunate beguinning, but Scott wouldn't be alive if mum hadn't needed ingrediants to make finger paint.

Scott lived to be 8 years old. He spent those 8 truly wounderful years with us.

So where ever you are now Scott, mum, dad, Colin, Mark, Millie, Steven and even Neo would like to say thank you for being the best ginger and white fluffy cat with an atitude in the world. We will all miss you very much.

Here are some pics of my beautiful boy. These arn't very recent as i cant show the very last photo i took of him because i have misplaced (i wont say lost) my card reader. I will make a tribute with lots of pics of him later.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Isn't he beautiful?

Oh and one last thing i thought was important. When i rang up mum to tell her about Scott, she was at the exact same supermarket carpark as where she found him. So it looks like that is when his story began, and ended. It was at Sim's supermarket carpark in Footscray Victorira (Australia).

Bye bye Scotty man. I will love you always. *sniff*

Windigo

I went to a book reading tonight by a very cool part Native Canadian author named Joseph Boyden. He was talking about his book, Through Black Spruce, and also about his first book Three Day Road. Both are books that are centred around a certain Native Cdn family. In both books there is a mention of the Windigo. Someone in the audience asked him to explain what it meant to his culture and how it could be applied to modern culture. He said (what we SN fans already know), that it is a powerful creature that feeds on human flesh and was once a man. But he also said according to his culture, a Windigo is attracted to greed and overindulgence. If you hoard or show glutteny the Windigo will come to your village. He sited a certain character in Through Black Spruce named Soleil who was a NY model who surrounded herself with beautiful people, expensive things, exposure and always wanted more. He then said that Paris Hilton represents the modern Windigo because she always wants more and feels power through overindulgence. He jokingly said over the years she gets skinnier, her hair gets brighter and her nails grow longer.

I had a good laugh about his parallel since she's going to be on SN soon.

Pretty funny coincidence!!

Supernatural uses my idea. GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

So tonight on Supernatural, it was an especially special show. The bad guy of the week was War, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. This was special to me, because on May 28th, of 2007, I posted on a TV.com thread on supernatural entitled "demon" that i wanted to see some amped up version of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. The idea was entertained very well by the fans who read it. And i CANNOT believe that it came TRUE! OH MY GOD! I AM THE HAPPIEST FANGIRL EVER!

OH MY GOD!

I AM SO HAPPY I COULD DIE!

And here's the proof http://www.tv.com/supernatural/show/30144/demon/topic/13786-757533/msgs.html?page=0&tag=pagination;1

And Sam and Dean parting, that was so sad!
