Ok, got back last night from seeing people that I haven't seen in years (7 months). We'll just refer to them as "friends" for now., but it was pretty fun. I was actually kind of nervous but then I got there and it was a big party and we were all just chillin' so that was nice...
Been watching a lot of Firefly lately.

Torrented the whole first (and last) season, and it's really good so far. So much so that I'll be buying the whole set sometime in the future for the sake of supporting Joss Whedon's efforts. (If you haven't seen Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog... well, I linked it, what are you waiting for? NPH is win.)
Let's see... oh, I changed my desktop.
Actually, let's talk about something.
For about a month now I've been frequenting a certain website with a certain forum called "/wg/." For the sake of me not getting banned, we will refer to this site as "4man."
Now, normally I don't visit 4man because of the scum that dwells there, but I decided to go snooping around before I found this awesome little piece of wallpaper heaven. Then I learned about Rainmeter, Rocketdock, etc. and how my desktop was the ugliest thing I had ever seen.
Fast forward a month later and now I've got a folder of about 2 GB worth of nothing but wallpapers dedicated to my desktop, which I change about once every day thanks to my indecisiveness.
Example -

Notice, if you will, the dates.
lol, Yeah. And I'm going to change it tonight too. I find that sticking to just one the whole time is boring. Anyway, the one that I have right now is on the bottom, and I really like it, but I'm going to be looking through my wallpaper folder for a new picture to base the desktop around.
It's actually a lot of fun. :B
Anyway.. other than that, not much.
Oh, Bayonetta got a 9.5 from IGN, so that's pretty cool and uhh... yeah. Can't wait for it to get here. I got both the Climax Edition and the pre-order bonus from play.uk, but I'm too lazy to look for the pictures so if you're really interested, Google it, lol.
Uhmm... ok, whatever.
lol, Bye.
Oh, and Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Kwanza, Hanukkah, etc.
Tune of the Week: Beastie Boys - Intergalactic
"WELL. NOW. DON'T YOU TELL ME TO SMILE, STICK AROUND I'LL MAKE IT WORTH YOUR WHILE, MY NUMBER'S BEYOND WHAT YOU CAN DIAL."

Girl / Boy
Boy: We can write the equation for a traveling harmonic wave. Greek letter psi(x,t)=psi0 sin 2pi(x/wl - t/T) such a wave extends infinitly far in both the positive and negative directions. Here psi0 is the amplitude of the wave and T is its period. The wave is charictorized by a single wavelingth wl0. However if we expect a wave to reprerent an electron or other particle, then its not reasonable to have the wave extending to infinity. Insted, the wave should be localized in the vicinity of the electron. Indeed we see the need of localizing a wave to a small region of space even in the case of light waves
Girl: lawl.
Boy: Ok... (?)
Boy: An example of this in Compton scattering is helpful to discribe. also in the photoelectric effect the photon interacts with a single electron. Nnt with them all. There is a relatively simple answer, any complicated wave can be built up from a superposition of harmonic waves of differnt wavelengths. If we add together two waves psi1 and psi2 of slightly different wavelengths, a new wave results..
Girl: Add together lots of waves of slightly different wavelengths and phases, and u get a wavepacket, which localises the particle to a given range, with a high probability of finding the particle within this range, and virtually no chance of finding it outside this range.
Girl: Asyncronous communication FTW?
Girl: Particles donīt exactly 'phase in and out'. Due to the Uncertainty Principle, they can appear and disappear into the quantum vacuum, but those are what are known as virtual particles. 'Real' particles don't behave that way...
Girl: Size isnīt really relative in that way. The size of an object has real effects on how it behaves.
Boy: Its not so much about how they come to exist as it is how they are behaving in existance.
Boy: Google axiom of choice.
Girl: A wave may be defined as a periodic or regulary repeating, disturbance that transports energy from one place to another.
Girl: hm. lol.
Boy: ??
Girl: Littel galaxies of energy acting like a solid cause of the way the nuclear bounds or electromanetic forces hold them together. together they can Expand out and aked like waves.
When we Zooom in on this huge galaxy?(one electron) We only think its a dot.(thats to small to see)
I gess im high what the hell do i know ,I neverfinished college,,
Boy: O_o!
Girl: ah waisted youth
Boy: lol bored with curriculum fail
Girl: All waves can be diffracted, and this is a defining property of waves in general.
Boy: Partical physics is way different then atomic physics in the fact that we cant give a definte answer to how the partical will result. only a perdiction of its many results. Infinity isnt a grid that all particles roll around on. A Particle are infinite. It can be in many places at once. Its more like each particle has its own universes of existances. Seemingly it chooses what existance it will pop into. Infinity is like a grid of infinite expance of grids of infinite particals. A particles existance in one given wave packet an one given time doesnt mean that that particle will continue in any particular way. It has infinitly many choices on the path of spacetime. In other words the infinite grid it apears on now has little to nothing to do with the infinite grid it moves into next and any two particles go in infinitly many directions. You only see the directions in your infinite grid of the moment. Since we are in the same infinity of infinite grids of grids so to speek, we will never be able to follow. .
Boy: Any particle through its existance, with the exception of the conscious particle we call ourself.
Girl: Now youīre going off into new-age woowoo, doc. Particles canīt appear in many places at once. Their wavefunctions may spread out, but u never detect a single particle in multiple locations at the same time, not ever.
Lurker: Ah butbiancathey have detected one particl in more then one place at a time
When your moving threw warped space at the speed of time strange uncertin thangs are bound to happen
Boy:*slaps high*
Boy: But perhaps traveling light or clse to it speed One particel seems like millions of particels,,but they are one expressing the multi-univers
Boy: ...hmmm catchy name
Girl: Moving thru warped space at the speed of time? Iīm talking about real science, not bloody made-up Star Trek science fantasies! D:
Boy: I understand your positionB, but do look at the results of superpositioning. In neuro science the have found that if you prick the finger the responce is at the same exact time of sensation. If they prick the brain in the same area of responce
the same is true in reverce. We are operating on the quantum level and its easy to study in the way of the brain. When a baceball batter hits a ball going 99m/hr it is a physical impossibilty acording to the old theory that the eyes send a signal to the brain then to the arms. Its as though they became aware on a quantum level. Samaris do the same thing with sensory deprivation training. I will do a little research and get back to you on this good point though
Girl: Ahh, uīve seen the extended version of What The Bleep i see! I saw Hameroff say that too, and iīve also read about Benjamin Libetīs experiments with perception. They are interesting, if confusing and open to several interpretations
Boy: I agree its not the most stable science but they have helped in the way of my own theories. I have been able to see the future and move objects with my mind. I am hoping one day to find the complete science behind such events.
Girl: *Shakes head* Now youīve definitely gone off thd deep end. -
Lurker: he is correct
Girl: Correct? Whereīs an example of them detecting a particle in 2 places at once? If u think heīs right, then give an example! And, while youīre at it, explain what he meant by 'travelling at the speed of time'? Makes no sense to me!
Boy: 2 sec
Boy: Its called wave-particle duality. Kinda like space-time. The particle is the photon. If it behaves like a wave and can be calculated as a particle its superpositioned. In Einsteins photoelectric equation experiment photons at a given frequancy that hit a cathode release electrons furthering the Idea of quantization of radiation even though it seems a contradiction, on one hand the light behaves as a wave having frequancy f. On the other hand a single photon transfers all of its nrg in an encounter with a single electron, partical behavior. Einstein goes on to show that this dual behavior is characteristic of all waves and particals on the atomic scale. Link superpositioning to that and what you get is one particle in many wave like places at once. -On another point is that in the wave fuction is information about the apparatus and the particle itself and choses to behave like a wave or partical. in the picture, its a plate with a slit showing light behave as a wave.
Girl: listen
Girl: The wave may be spread out, but the particle never is, that's my point! The wave can go thru both slits of the Youngīs double slit experiment and give an interference pattern on the screen, but if u send thru one photon at a time, u only ever detect one photon at a time hitting the screen, never half a photon, or 2 photons! So iīll ask again: whereīs the evidence for a particle being in 2 places at once? If u put a photon detector in front of each slit and send single photons thru, u only EVER detect single photons! Wave-particle duality is confusing and strange, thatīs true, but no need to make it any weirder but stating things that aren't factual!
Girl: Oh and btw, if it behaves like a wave and can be calculated as a particle itīs superpositioned' is a statement that makes no sense. Waves can be superpositioned, particles canīt be. Doc.
Girl: Do u even know what the basics are? Maybeu are in need of atextbook
Boy: You dont get it, each particle is a wave. And only fixs into place when it bumps into something. Its both. Its both. In a fixed reality of a camara it doesnt matter much that it apears as a particle any more then a pic of you means you are dead. You continue on and so does the wave-particle. We are in reality NOTHING IS STATIC.
Boy: Thats the math take it or leave it.
Girl: ... eh?
Boy: Wave-particle. Not my word.
Girl: No, YOU don't get it. Photons, for example, are only EVER emitted or absorbed as a particle. FACT. When u set up to detect a particle, u NEVER find a particle to be in 2 places at once. As i already mentioned, wave-particle duality is strange, but thereīs no need to compound the strangeness by making statements that
Girl: simply.arenīt. true.
Girl: One way of putting it is this: light travels as a wave, but departs and arrives as a particle. That gives u a picture of when the particle aspect is important, and when the wave aspect is important.
Boy: Exactly
Boy: you get that its both unless energy is exchanged. Thats a start. Have you not seen the dual particle picture? And what about nuclear physics now. Some of the most facinating concepts were founded on what we discussed.
Girl: uh-huh
Boy: cant find it now but I know of a site that talks about it with alot of other stuff- http://www.zamandayolculuk.com and though they cant know what slit its using under observation. The corrosion of the slits indicate that the electron shot over and over took both paths when fired. If its a wave in travel the particle in travel is in superposition with the other harmonic waves around it. Thats how we distinguish voices. Man this stuff is over 30 years old since the figuerd that one out.
Girl: ...
Girl: Corrosion of slits? If a slit is corroded by an electron, that counts as a measurement, therefore the particle goes thru that slit ONLY and not thru both. It's a basic principle of quantum mechanics. I know of no experiments that show otherwise, especially any that are 30 years old! I have pop science books and university textbooks written since then, and NONE say that an electron can be observed at both slits simultaneously!
Girl: Oh, just noticed something. Shot 'over and over'? Yes. So what? I'm talking about INDIVIDUAL particles never being detected in 2 places at once, not an ensemble of particles being shot thru the experiment. In that case itīs expected that some will go one way, and some will go the other. But iīll repeat: a single particle is never detected at both at the same time!
Boy: In any given pin-pointed time in space everything has its fixed position. If wave function wasnt there we would remain fixed particles. In real time, space has no fixed points. Just our overlaying perception of timespace as it apears to our mind. Cause our mind holds moments like the shutter speed of a camera. Our minds eye is a wave-particle like any particle of energy. It can hold only one perception at one time if concentrated- observed. But in martial arts you learn to become aware of multiple things at once. And according to you math and most psycologist its impossible for the brain to DJ mix. But I do it all the time- lesten to two things at once. The first step to beat matching and blending.
Boy: The two start as chaos and end as one.
Girl: Impossible for ppl to dj mix according to psychologists? Got any reference for that?
Girl: As for the rest, it looks like new-age word salad to me. Mindīs eye is a wave-particle? That doesnīt even make sense! U can't perceive more than one thing at at time? Rubbish. The mind perceives many, many things at once, all the time!
Boy: Are you just****ing with me B? Http://physorg.com/news77144.html http://physforum.com/index.php http://world-science.net
Boy: learn from them then you talk
Boy: That first one is great type it in I think I messed it up. Uh and yeah try to talk to two people at once or watch two tvs. Most cant. I am bolth handed so I can do this but you go and try to go in loops with your index fingers going opisite directions clock wise and counter. See how easy it is. And I mean conscious mind.
Girl: listen
Girl: YOU stated that people canīt perceive more than one thing at a time. Watching tv and listening to the sound is 2 things. If u didnīt mean that, u shouldnīt have stated it.
Girl: It is possible to watch 2 tellies at once, or listen to 2 conversations at once, but i wouldnīt say it was easy. What about tapping your head and rubbing your belly? It can be done, but takes practice. Iīd assume the same for other 'dual' activities
Boy: Regardles its just a theory.
Boy: Did you look at that site? Do you get it now about it being at two places at once?
Boy: Your are possibly right on that point belly head thing.
Girl: lol "possibly"...
Boy:But my point is that the mind particle works like a wave. Thats why you can both focus on one thing. And then again more then one. But according to ****cal psycology the mind cant do two things of the same sence at once. They view the mind as a particle not a wave. Its a wave-particle. . Mabe many wave-particles
Girl: That 3rd link was the most interesting. Iīve read such sites before. Physicsforums and physorg.
Girl: Talking about the mind as a wave-particle is just loose flimflam if u ask me, and iīve never heard of any psychologist saying we can only do or perceive one thing at a time.
Girl: Itīs a patently false notion anyway.
Boy: patently even?
Girl:Iīm typing and listening to the tv, and itīs not exactly hard to do.
Girl: Looked at all 3 sites briefly. Where does it show that an electron has been detected in 2 places at the same time?
Boy: its in there, i may have little but circumstantial evidence is more than what you have
Girl:Iīm not gonna take days out looking thru all 3 sites! this is not what i have to do in order to further this conversation
Girl: this is what YOU have to do
Girl: i own you until proven otherwise, laters
Boy: the *****
Sorry for the belated blog! I've been quite busy and/or lazy recently WORK![]()
Well my time at Tickhill Road Hospital is drawing to a close so I've been applying for a few permanent jobs that have cropped up at DRI and apparently my boss is putting out a job soon which I can apply for.
One of the Modern Matrons was on Bargain Hunt last week and she was hilarious! For you folk in the UK here's the link – she's called Helen ![]()
Her team bought a painted tile so Stevieboy came in on Friday with a bathroom tile painted with flowers and asked Helen if she could value it
She'd just got back from holiday with stories which had us in stitches ^_____^
It was also the work Christmas do last night. I've never had a proper job round Christmas so last night was a first for me and it was absolutely fab! We had dinner at the Regent where everyone got a little bit drunk and sang loudly to xmas tunes and got all the other tables of random people joining in
Helen did the best Irish accent pretending to be Louie Walsh and we kind of had an X-Factor play off between the two sides of the table.
She was such a laugh and by the main course my cheeks were already aching – it was so nice to be happy again ![]()

Afterwards the managers went home and the rest of us hit town. It was ok but town on a Friday is filled with older people and I prefer going on student nights. I planned to drink water through the meal and alcohol when we got into town because I don't like wine and lager would ruin the taste of a meal.
My boss asked what I was drinking and I explained and she heard the word "lager" and ordered me a pint which I trucked through. Then Trish asked if I wanted to try the wine and it has been a fair few years since I last tasted it so I did and it was ok; I wouldn't order wine but I'll drink it if I have to lol. I was wistfully eying up the jug of water on the table, trying to finish my wine so I could have a bit of water and as soon as I finished Lindsey (boss) filled my glass up again!

I had another half pint and 2 vodkas round town but it was so evenly paced that I was fairly sober all night. Got in at 2am exhausted!
HOME
Things at home have been awful so Christmas is effectively ruined. People keep coming round to the house saying my brother owes them money so god knows what he's up to. His druggie mates knocked some of the wall down last weekend and I'm getting so sick of it all that tonight I was close to asking the bloke that had come round for money today if he'd beat my brother up just to try and knock some sense into him.
SOCIAL
Isn't fairing too well either. I'm desperate to meet new people, especially lads but I don't really know where to look. Round town they're either too old or absolute ****heads. I want to meet intelligent guys that have the same interests as me. Even if I see a nice looking guy how am I supposed to meet them? I can't just walk up and say "Hi I noticed you're quite good looking. Did you pass your GCSE's and like computers?" >__>
Still I seem to have filled up my loneliness with buying things like books and DVDs off Amazon. In the words of Chantel, "Amazon is better than any man... Though your goods may sometimes turn up a day late... At least you know you will receive guaranteed satisfaction
" which made me chuckle
For those of you into graphic novels, Mouse Guard arrived and is a fab book ![]()

I'm also half way through City of Bones by Cassandra Clare which I found to be a bit cheesy at first but I've really got into it.

I also have 3 Steampunk books sat on my shelf – The Difference Engine, Court of the Air and The Affinity Bridge; if anyone has read these I would appreciate your thoughts on them
I've read Mortal Engines and it's one of my fav books so I thought I'd indulge in more Steampunk novels.
I've also bought myself a pair of Vans which I adore:

Chantel laughed when I showed her what I made the other day and said "Is this the sort of stuff you get up to when I'm not round?"
It's an old MP3 player that stopped working so I ripped the casing off and it suddenly worked again (but only as a flash drive) so I encased it in Lego, leaving space for the screen to go blue when it's plugged in ![]()

![]()
My desktop wallpaper at work for winter:

![]()
Was the dress I wore for the work do. You can't see much of it in the pics but it's ivory with black lace top, a black studded midriff sash and black silk down to knee length ![]()
And finally a question to you lot: Where are you from and how cold is it? It's ****ing freezing over here!
And on a final final note:
