Jimmy Eat World is easily one of the best bands i've ever heard. Put simply, the lyrics in their songs are sometimes somewhat coded, but for the most part carry a deep meaning. First time I heard of Jimmy Eat World, I thought "Wow... what a dumb name for a band" and that was how I saw them for the next couple of years. I can tell you, that now I'm eating (no pun intended) my initial reaction to them. Once the Futures CD came out and I heard "Pain", I decided that I was unfair and that I should atleast give J.E.W. a chance. And I did. Well folks, I think the "Current Favorite" headline explains it pretty well. I think Futures may be one of the most solid albums I've ever heard, with pretty much every song being excellent in my books. The rest of Jimmy's albums seem to follow suit as well, Bleed American and Clarity also stand out in my mind as two really great ones. They're Emo/Punk/Rock... and a pretty darn good mix of the three too. Rarely is there too much of any of the qualities in their songs. I strongly recommend Jimmy Eat World to anyone. And I mean anyone.

"Don't wanna be an American idiot", eh? Well considering you are American Idiots, this song just never worked for me. And like most other Green Day songs, this one is boring, annoying and repetitive. Only this time, they're even trying to be something they aren't. Political. They don't really think of Americans as idiots at all. They're dumb alright, but atleast they were smart enough to know the dumb fans in both USA and Canada would gobble this one up like crazy. And ya know why they like it so much? Because of the stereotypes that are flying around about all Americans being ignorant. The truth is, the only parts of the American population that I would truely call brain-dead are the one's in the southern states where they just recently voted George Bush once again. Nice going guys. You also got Green Day a whole wad of cash by making yourselves seem like idiots. I'd be a very happy camper if Green Day went back to their meaningless songs like "Warning". Ya know why? Because the guys in Green Day seem even dumber when they're trying to make a point. As if we didn't already know most Americans are dumb. Thanks for pointing out the obvious Green Day. Oh yeah, and as for you people who refer to the guys in Green Day as "Hot", well i've got another thing coming to you. Did you know that they're in their early 30's? Soon enough they'll be the worst type of poseurs out there. Old fossils that try to seem cool by dressing young. Grow up Green Day. And stop trying to seem like you know anything about politics. This song makes me sick. Just like Green Day.

Man, back in my day, when Maroon 5 hadn't come around, and they were still their other loser band that they used to have (can't remember the name right now), these morons were where they belonged. Living in their parents' basements. So, this begs the question, why was "This love" so popular? Well, the little wienie singer of Maroon 5 decided that he was going to pay a super model to make out with him in praticaly no clothes in the video. Why would he do this? He can't get that kind of stuff in real life. He needed that for more than one reason. So, moving on from that video, Maroon 5 decided to elaborate their sick lust involving old women. That's right people. I'm talking about the "She will be loved" video. Now, no matter how hard they tried to make the woman in that video look young, the makeup and plastic surgery did not help the cause. Many people will not agree with any word i'm saying here, but it's just the truth. I found that video repulsive. Just like their too-light pop (wake up people! They're just basically the new N-Sync or Backstreet Boys!) stylings which really make me wonder whether the gothic stuff of today or this is the worst. I'm caught on that one. I would say more and touch more on the reasons why I hate Maroon 5, but quite frankly, I wouldn't touch Maroon 5 any more than this, with a 100-foot pole. I would probably inherit a rash. Anyway, that's all. Bye-bye.

If he ever had it that is... I am completely fed up with this guy. It pissed me off to have to see his first few videos, but atleast then I hadn't already discovered that Eminem really only has two types of songs. A) The ones where he's all serious and he's trying to make a point by rapping his way up the charts with his stupid little sub-gimmicks. You know the man really doesn't care about the stuff. And oh yeah, B) The one's where he tries to be funny by making a spoof on a certain celebrity or celebrities that are already ridiculed enough. And he does it in a real ignorant fasion too. For instance, when you're making a video about Michael Jackson (in the "Just lose it video"), don't be stupid enough to put pre-teen dancers in your video! Sheesh! That's certainly smart... One could argue that that was part of the spoof, but I don't buy that. And going back, listening to songs like "The way I am", he was no better earlier in his career either. So what? He can whine and cry about his life and go on and on about how the world screws him over. His life sucks. Even though he has everything in the world. Or anything he doesn't already have, he can buy. Do the world a favour, Slim Shady. End your so called "encore". The sooner the better.

R.E.M. hasn't always been one of my favorite bands. In fact, when I was a little bit younger, I despised hearing them on the radio. I thought the music was absolutely terrible and annoying. But I grew up. And I began to appreciate this band so much more. As soon as I heard two songs by R.E.M., my entire oppinion of them changed. Those songs are: "Losing my religion" and "Everybody hurts", which I believe is the greatest suicide-related song ever made. And if you've read some of my other reviews, you know I love meaningful lyrics. And that's all it took to make me really respect R.E.M. Now I've also heard some of their other stuff, and can honestly say I would classify them a legend in my books anyway. Though I haven't heard all their stuff yet, I think that instead of always thinking about the "Rolling stones", "Aerosmith" and the "Beatles" all the time as the biggest rock legends, think a little bit about R.E.M. Cuz even though they're a little less known in that way, they ARE legends. Let's just hope they don't stay around for TOO long. They need to stop soon. Make their newest Cd their last one. It's time to let it rest. Otherwise, they'll end up without any real dignity. Like... say... the "Rolling stones"?
