Save THE O.C.
First of all, Please do not cancel THE O.C.
I love The O.C.!
I think THE O.C. is one of the best shows on TV since FRIENDS and E.R.
When I watch The O.C. I experience suspense, and excitement. When I was going through a tough time with my friends and 2 of my best friends told me they didn't want to be my friend anymore THE O.C. was the only thing that I had to look forward to. From watching THE O.C. and seeing how great of the friendships between Ryan, Seth, Marissa, and Summer I made me happy and they made me realize how I want to have friendships just like they get along so well.
Every O.C. fan knows that Ryan and Marissa are supposed to end up together and Seth and Summer are supposed to end up together. So i believe that the death of Marissa shocked all us O.C. fans and after that we knew The O.C. would never be the same again. So unless you bring Marissa back then you will never have full respect back from your viewers and therefore you will never recieve back your viewers
Even though I hate to say it if you do have to cancel THE O.C. then end it in a pleasant and memorable way, just as so many classic shows like Friends, Will & Grace, and Alias has. Give your viewers what they have wanted from the beginnig and bring Marissa back somehow.
I believe THE O.C. has changed television forever. And now that it's out there and we know about and love it we can't imagine what television would be like without it.
In conclusion, Please save "THE O.C." !!!!!!!
I love THE O.C. and I don't know what I would do without it.
E.R. Vs Grey's Anatomy
E.R. Vs Grey’s Anatomy
The medical dramas E.R. and Grey’s Anatomy are very similar. They are both two of television’s most popular shows. Both series are medical dramas that take place in a hospital, primarily in the emergency room and operation room. The shows are very different from each other; E.R. has more history because of the fact E.R. has been on the air four times longer than Grey’s Anatomy. Furthermore, E.R. has more award nominations and has won more awards than Grey’s Anatomy. E.R. also had and has more talented actors and actresses than Grey’s Anatomy. E.R. also has more tragic and serious stories than Grey’s Anatomy.
To begin with, E.R. premiered on Thursday September 19, 1994 on NBC and has also held that timeslot ever since. E.R. has been a part of NBC’s “MUST SEE TV” on Thursday nights for 13 years. E.R. is now in its 13th season. E.R. was created by author Michael Crichton, produced by John Wells, Christopher Chulack, David Zabel, and R. Scott Gemmill. It is NBC’s second longest running drama after Law & Order. The show takes place at County General Hospital, which is insecurely based on the former Cook County Hospital on
West Harrison Streetin Chicago, IL. In 1995-96, 96-97, and 98-99 E.R. was the number one show on Television. In 1994-95 and 97-98 it ranked as the number two show on Television. E.R. has been on the air a lot longer than Grey’s Anatomy, so it has a lot more history and therefore has won more awards and has more nominations.E.R. has been nominated exactly 117 times through out its history. Not to mention that it has won 22 Emmy Awards and several other awards including, the award for “Outstanding Drama Series” in 1996, the “George Peabody Award” in 1995, along with four “Screen Actor Guild Awards” for “Outstanding Ensemble Performance in a Drama Series”. Other awards include, Emmy Awards, for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series- Julianna Margulies in 1995, who played Nurse Carol Hathaway, “Outstanding Individual Achievement in Directing for Drama Series- Mimi Leder for the classic episode ”Love’s Labor Lost”, and “ Outstanding Guest Actor in Drama Series”- Ray Liota in 2005. The Episode “Love’s Labor Lost” received five Emmy Awards such as “Outstanding Individual Achievement in Writing for a Drama Series”.
E.R. also won a Golden Globe Award for “Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series Drama-Anthony Edwards” in 1998.Throughout ER’s history many talented actors and actresses has appeared on E.R. One of the E.R.’s most successful actors is Anthony Edwards who had starred on E.R. since the beginning up until the 8th season when his character Dr. Mark Greene died from a brain tumor. In 1998 he won a Golden Globe Award for “Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series Drama, he has been nominated for an Emmy four times and three times for a Golden Globe. Also who could forget about George Clooney who played Dr. Doug Ross, pediatrician? George got his start on E.R., George had a starring role on E.R. since the first episode and left in E.R.’s fifth season. George’s departure the show threatened to break the ER success story. In fact, the show continued to attract an enormous amount of viewers. This shows that E.R. will always be able to lure viewers no matter what just like it has been doing for the last 13 years with all the departures of the cast. Another one E.R.’s most thriving actors are Noah Wyle, who has also been with E.R. since the beginning up until the end of season 11. Noah played John Carter who began his role out as a medical student and left the show as Dr. John Carter one of the E.R.’ s most well respected doctors and he was also the last original cast members of E.R. Noah has had five Emmy nominations for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series” and three Golden Globe nominations for ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series”.
In 1995 Tom Shales from The Washington Post called E.R. “BRILLANT IT’S ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU THINK THAT MAYBE TELEVISION IS GOING TO BE ALL RIGHT”.
Matt Roush from USA Today gave E.R. four stars and said, “E.R. is The Medical Drama of The 90’s”.
In March 2003 producer of E.R. John Wells said this about the characters on E.R., “IF YOU HAVE BEEN IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACIDENT AND YOU IN THE BACK OF AN AMBULANCE, WHEN THE DOORS OPEN OF THAT AMBULANCE OPEN YOU’RE COMING OUT ON THE GURNEY,THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHOSE FACES YOU WANT TO SEE.”
In October 2002 author Mark Jones said, “ER is one of TV’s greatest success stories. Now in its ninth year, millions of viewers the world over regularly tune in to watch the lives of the doctors and nurses at County General Hospital, Chicago.”
Actor, writer, and director Adam Arkin said, "ER" is clearly a phenomenon that really takes place once in a decade, if you're lucky. It was clear that we couldn't compete with that”.
These quotes tell you how amazing E.R. is and always will be and no other show will ever be able to top it They also say. E.R. will continue to amaze viewers with it’s outstanding characters, plotlines, directing, and writing.
Next, E.R. also has more tragic and dramatic story plots. E.R. is about the staff and patients in the ER of Chicago’s fictional County Hospital. It’s also about the doctors and nurses of County’s E.R. confronting the everyday challenges of a busy urban hospital, including overcrowded waiting rooms, staffing shortages, and the impact of life-and-death decisions, while they teach the next generation of doctors. Hence, the weekly episodes keep you on the edge of your seat of what is going to happen next and waiting to see who will live or die.
Grey’s Anatomy is also one of televisions most popular shows. It premiered on Sunday March 27th, 2005 at 9:00 PM as a midseason replacement. The series revolves around Dr. Meredith Grey played by actress Ellen Pompeo. Meredith is a surgical intern at the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital, in Seattle Washington. Grey’s Anatomy was created by Shondra Rhimes directed by Adam Kane, and produced by Gabrielle Stanton, Harry Werksman, Rob Corn, and Mimi Schmir. The show features a variety of very talented actors and actresses, but Meredith is featured as the main character, with a voice-over narration at the beginning and the end of most of the episodes. Also the title of the series is a pun on the title of the famous anatomy textbook Gray’s Anatomy. The characters on the show consist of a group of surgical interns, the variety of physicians who provide as mentors to the interns, and additional people in their professional and personal lives. Grey’s Anatomy is now in its third season, so since Grey’s Anatomy has not been on the air as long as E.R. therefore does not have as much history as ER. and has not been nominated as many times as ER or won as many awards as ER. Grey’s Anatomy won a Golden Globe Award for “Best TV Supporting Actress” –Sandra Oh in 2006 as Dr. Christina Yang. Also Isaiah Washington who plays Dr. Preston Burke won an NAACP Image Award in 2006 for “Outstanding Actor in Drama Series”. For those reasons Sandra Oh and Isaiah Washington are the show’s most successful actors but really only because they are the only actors from the show who actually have won an important award. Also, Grey’s Anatomy won an Emmy Award for “Outstanding Casting for a Drama series”-Linda Lowy and John A total of about ten awards. Also only 14 Emmy nominations two Golden Globe nominations and therefore E.R. has better actors and actresses than Grey’s Anatomy.
Also Grey’s Anatomy has been said to be a copy off the NBC’s medical comedy series “Scrubs”, both shows main character provide an over voice narration in the beginning and the end of the show providing the viewers with life lessons. We know that Grey’s Anatomy copied Scrubs and not the other way around because, Scrubs premiered in 2001 and was already in its fourth season when Grey’s Anatomy came on the air. Also the popular song ‘How to Save a Life” by The Fray, was first played on Scrubs and then Grey’s Anatomy. Grey’s Anatomy has also been criticized for borrowing plotlines and extra ordinary medical procedure featured on FOX’s medical drama Series House M.D. That is another reason why E.R. is better than Grey’s Anatomy. E.R. was the first kind of medical drama, it’s original and unique, unlike Grey’s Anatomy which is a copy.
Finally my last reason why E.R. is better than Grey’s Anatomy is because, Grey’s Anatomy focuses more on the character’s personal lives where E.R. focuses on the more tragic stories about thing that keep you on the edge of your seat and usually shed tears by the end of an episode. Moreover, E.R. and Grey’s Anatomy have both been very successful, but E.R. is much more successful than Grey’s Anatomy. All in all, E.R. has been more successful than Grey’s Anatomy by far because, E.R. had more talented actors and actresses, has more history, and has won more awards and nominated at least 100 more times than Grey’s Anatomy. To conclude, both T.V. shows have been victorious, but when it comes to which medical drama series is more superior, it is and always will be E.R.
