I believe it's time for another blog thingie

On Monday I got a call from my recruitment agent and she had the greatest news ever 2 weeks ago I applied for a position at RegTel (a telecommunications regulator in Ireland), went for 2 interviews which were successful enough I guess so yeah, got the job so I'm all happy now. Starting on Monday woohoohooo! The hours are 9am-5pm with an hour for lunch, the money's excellent too, 28 500 euro (approx $45 000) per annum which is pretty good for somebody just starting off

The tournament of the year started on Monday so I can't peel my eyes off the TV Ernests Gulbis is my guy and what a guy he is!!!

Yesterday Ernests beat American John Isner 7-5 7-5 6-7(3-7) 7-6(8-6) in the first round and tomorrow he is facing the No.2 seeded Rafael Nadal. To be honest I though Isner and Gulbis were going to kill each other with their serves. These 2 players are very alike, amazing and extremely powerful serve, one ace after another... So now I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's match against Nadal.

It's located in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, within a 5 minute walk from the sea. Our windows overlook a golf couurse, there's a tennis court and a swimming pool (pity I can't swim though). There might be a gym too AND there's a running track. Perfect. We'll be moving in in a week or 2. It's a completely new development and they are still putting the TVs on walls and placing vases lol. Now I just need to find a job in the area. Oh the excitement!

The rent is 1400 euro per month (approx $2200) though, Pricey but dammit, totally worth the money.

The financial district (IFSC) is the area we are primally looking for but we'll see how it goes.

Just realized I haven't blogged/commented/posted here for aaaaaages!!!! That's sooo unlike me lol I guess this whole moving thing takes a bit of my time.

I've only 3 weeks left in my current job! Now how peachy is that? Extremely peachy. We are currently recruiting for my replacement and you won't believe how idiotic some of these applications are! 2/3rds can't even make a decent CV. And these are people just out of college. Wow. Out of 20 applications we've received today maybe 1 or 2 are actually worth looking at. One chick asked whether the city council (my employer) is gonna pay for her BA studies. Yea, sure. Why not.

There is a reason why I love Dublin so much. And the reason is Dublin skangers. You might also know them as scumbags or scum. Or chavs if you are British, neds if you are Scottish and white trash if you are from the US of A. But some might not know what a skanger is so I give you the ultimate scummies:

A scanger will always wear a tracksuit. A Celtic jersey is also a possibility, even if they've never been near Glasgow. A scangerette - a tracksuit made by Juicy Cotoure. Abercrombie & Fitch (fake) is also a brand they seem to adore. Some scangerettes will wear pjs during day time, preferably pink or baby blue bought/stolen in Pennys. Some guys tuck their tracksuit bottoms into white socks. Some scangers can be spotted wearing jeans but they will always be either 2 sizes too big or 2 sizes too small.

A scanger will always wear white Nike AirMax. Why? No-one knows.

A scangerette will always have her hair tied up in a tight ponytail. Looks mighty fine with huge loop earrings. Don't forget fake tan. A scangerette will usually have at least 2 kids in tow called Chantelle, Britney, Tiffany, Brad or Josh.

A scanger/scangerette will always wear cheap and tacky (fake too) jewellery. The thicker the chains, the better. Mr T anyone? Talking about fake, scangers seem to have developed love for Burberry too.

You will spot a scanger in parks downing Dutch Gold or cheap ciders, near the dole office or on Dulin Bus (upper deck). Some scangers can be spotted in Jervis Shopping centre, plotting their next petty crime. Yet you will hardly ever spot a scanger in Stephen's Green SC.

Two skobey types behind me in an aisle in TK Maxx a while ago. A guy and a girl. Guy says "So whoiy did ye go ou' wi' him den and whoiy'd ye geh pregninh by him?" and she says (in that high pitched and drawn out way) "Cos I fel' like iiihh".

Walking down O'Connell Street, young scanger roars to an obvious rival scanger
"Here Michelle is that me your talking about or are you sucking a brick, cus either way your going to loose your f**king teeth!"

On a really clear bright day on the sea-front in Blackrock.
Two skangers, just off the Dart.
Skanger #1. "Jaysus, Howth looks really big from here"
Skanger #2. "it is big you f**kin' muppet"

Late saturday in burger king O'connell st. I overheard a scanger ask for a "BIG MAC" to which the assistant replies "sorry but that's a Mc Donalds Burger"
Scanger replies: "I know bud, dont be long"

Skanger girl #1: "Will I buy skinny jeans?"
Her skanger friend: "You're PREGNANT!!"

Two scangers walking near the 4 courts luas stop...one of them in on a mobile...
"Warrayameam me mate Deco stole the shoite' ourra de sittin' ru-im"
*pause while other person is replying on the phone*
"ah bollix...why did ya lerrum inta de sittin' ru-im?"

A South Bound Dart pulls into the station, at which point 2 young girls/scangers/Vicki Pollards (aged approx 12/13 in entirely predictable attire of multi-coloured tracksuits/tied back greasy hair/"soverinnnnn" rings aplenty etc.) came bursting down the stairwell - making a dash for the train.
As they got to the door, one wheezes to the other "Jaysus Nahlee (I assume "Natalie"), I'm getting too old for this sh*t".

In the NCT centre in Ballymun waiting for my car. Scanger couple and two kids walk in, sit the kids down, head out for a smoke. Bloke says to the kids:
"Sit dere and behayev or i'll bring yees across de road and sell yees to the knackers"
(cue stiffled laughter from everyone in the room)
...he continues:
"Do as yer told or i'll bring yees back to de adoption agency"
(no one expected that)

Skanger: "I bought a new bleedin' watch, It's bleedin' titanium an' I go'r'it for 5 quids. Here have a loo'."
Me: "Why does it say STAINLESS STEEL on the back?"
Skanger: "Ahhh.... I dunno, It is titanium, the guy bleedin' told me it was titanium and he's my mate, so it must be."

A few years ago, I walked by a gang of male 'scummahs'. (I'm a guy with long hair). One of them blew me a kiss, followed by the killer line: "Aw, sorry, I thought you were a fella"

2 skangers wandering around a video shop notice a love testing machine and being the happy go lucky people that they are decide to have a go.

Two skangers upstairs down the back of the bus passing the airport:
Sknager 1: "I was gettin d bloke in d clinic to write to Micker in d Joy and (then she pauses and looks at the aeroplanes). Jaaaysisss Christ Deano d f**kin size of dose yokes! Dere bleedin ginormous!"
Skanger 2: "Yer I know, dey look alot smaller in d sky, dya know how dey do dat? Its bleedn crazy"
Skanger 1: "No, not a f**kin clue". Dere must be a shrink button on dem like in d pictures to make dem go faster."

Two knackers with choild, the woman says to the man "I'd better get something new for that wedding next week", they walk into Champion Sports.

Was on the no4 bus in ballymun. Skangerette called CJ? gets on pushing kid in buggy. One of her mates then gets on bus and starts screamin "CJ did you bleedin text me earlier?" Thinking skangerette 2 is also going to town the driver closes the doors. "ah here mister, I'm not getting on!Just wondering if CJ texted me!"

It's 10.30am here. I wish I was in bed though. I really should go to sleep earlier. I go to bed at midnight, get up at 8.20am, have breakfast. Back in bed at 8.25am. Sleep for another 10 mins. Get dressed, wash the face, brush the teeth. Leave the house at 8.54am. Am in work at 8.59am. Perfect. But still not enough sleep.

The aforementioned 7 yr old. I seriously can't stand her. She's whining about everything, making scenes. Ugh.

Mmmmm fajitas with pork. Totally addicted to them. Bit of cheese, guacamole, onion, pepper mmmmm. I am hungry now, you evil bastard.

Christmas cos then we get a lot of days off. But I love them all. Unconditional holiday love, you know.
