I started my driving lessons!!!

Today was my first day driving a car... I was really, really nervous. I didn't know what to do! By the look of my face, the instructor already knew that was the first time I have driven a car. But even with all the nervousness, I think I went pretty well . I almost died but it's not a big deal... Well actually it was a great deal. I was driving, you know, I wasn't so nervous anymore and when I went to a crossroad, I saw a truck on the other street but I had the preference. So my instructor said: "You have the preference here, so just slow down and move on." I did that. Apparently the driver of the truck did the same. He didn't see me and he moved on too. But he was too fast in my direction and I was just shocked... Lucky me the instructor has the break pedal on his side too. So he stopped the car in the last minute. I was really nervous ! My instructor said: "Your fist lesson today was: there are many maniacs on the street so you have to be alert to everything." Well, it was not a good first impression of my first day behind the steering-wheel.

A trip through my memories

When I don't have anything to do, I grab a piece of paper and I start to draw. Now I don't do this often but when I was 11 years old, I did this all the time. Once I did a Looney tunes with 6 pieces of papers all together. I remember the drawing had my height!!!

I didn't know where my drawings were but when I was looking for a book in my closet, I found some of them. Others are still missing. Anyway, it was a wonderful discovery!

Smallville without Lex Luthor and Lana Lang...

Now is the time... Season 8 will probably be the final season. What will happen? I hated when Michael Rosenbaum said in recent interview that he won't participate in season 8 as a regular character. He is such a good actor and Lex Luthor is the main villain of Smallville. But good news: Kristin Kreuk said the same thing in her interview. I like the actress but I really want to see Lois and Clark more...close. Maybe the producers will do something like that.

And about new characters? Maybe they will bring Perry White to the show...

And Justice League? I think it's a good idea to bring Wonder Woman to Smallville. I don't remember where I read about her but I think it was just a rumor...

About the villains, I really don't have a clue what the producers should do. I think Brainiac will still appear in this season, maybe he will still be around in season 8. And one more thing: Don't you think the producers should do something about Clark's flying skills? I think he should at least plane a little...

What surprises are waiting in the final season of Smallville?

Attack against the world of games (Brazil)...

On January 18, the liberty of choice of the Brazilian gamer was compromised by the ignorance of some politicians in relation of some games. On this day, a decree of The Federal Justice of Minas Gerais was signed and prohibited the commerce and distribution of the games Counter-Strike and Everquest in all Brazilian territory. The news shocked all the videogame fans and one question was on everybody's minds: "Why?" The lack of information created even more confusion. In accordance with GameMaster's reporting (famous Brazilian game magazine), the responsible for this decree was the Solicitor General, Fernando de Almeida Martins. He said in his interview that the process was in course since 2002 but as nobody manifested against the decision, nothing could have been done to stop it. It's a little strange because I just found out about this decree. No one told us about this decision. The two games were considered "improper for use". The reason for this banishment was that "the violence of the games accumulates on the Children's minds and one day this can manifest and make the person do cruelties". Many things were affected by this decision: the Counter Strike Competitions, for example.

A psychologist of Puc said in the interview: "today, the information is very fast. Ten years old children have access to cell phones, internet, TV and it's complicated to create a bubble and prevent them to use all that (...) it's the parents' job to know the content of what their kids access...". A manifestation happened on February 2 with a group of gamers. They said: "As citizens, we have the right to choose the game we want to play." One of the gamers had a poster with the inscriptions: "Even my mother plays Counter Strike!"

This isn't just a reality in my country. In many places, more and more games are being banished of the stores and it is creating more conflicts of opinions all over the world. If they did with Counter Strike, what prevent them from forbidding GTA IV or Assassin's Creed? It's easy to blame the games for what killers do everyday. When a killer is caught, he says: "The game made me do this" or "I wanted to do what I did in the game". We forget that there are many others factors that contribute to make a person do that. Sometimes, it's the family structure or the education foundation the person had.

I agree that some games are violent but the parents have to control what their kids play or see. If we banished all the things that we judge improper to kids, we couldn't have movies or television anymore. The violence is everywhere. So avoid your children to have contact with this reality is almost impossible. And banish a game or another will not solve the problem.
