Hatred.
I hate my PC. Or rather the problems it manages to constantly produce. Or rather my ADSL modem and it's crappy support. All this time I thought the BSODs, random reboots and crap was the fault of my ISP somehow. Stupid as I am I never thought that it might be my 4 year old ADSL modem that is discontinued and appearantly no longer supported. I managed to find some 2 year old drivers on the Australian D-Link site. And they managed to mess up a system file so Windows wouldn't start.
Getting a new modem next week. Until then I'm forced to sit here and get mad at these BSODs and reboots. I've already smashed a clock and a freestyle cause of it. Pisses me off.
This be stupid!
Many times have I wondered why the publishers always get to print their big fat logo on the front, the back and both sides of the box. Why it's always their logo that shows up first in the intro? In some cases *cough*EA*cough* the developers logo is nowhere to be seen on the box. And when promoting games they sometimes even forget to mention the people who actually developed the game.
Take Battlefield 1942 for instance. Look at the front of the box. A big EA logo, no DICE. Open the box and eye the manual, a big EA logo, no DICE. The back of the manual, an EA and Gamespy logo, no DICE. Scan the disc, an EA logo, no DICE. The side of the box, an EA logo, no DICE. Back, a DICE logo clamped between the agerating and a Gamespy logo.
This is a disturbing trend. There are people out there that because of this thinks EA made BF1942. I guess what it comes down to is name recognition. Casual gamers see the EA logo and buys it. But it's the developers names that should be recognized.
I'm officially 1000 dollars poorer
Ordered from 2 different sites. Package #1 should arrive tomorrow. And I hope the damn things are working correctly. One problem with this is if the second package arrives more than 3 days later I won't be able to get a refund if something in the first package has been damaged during shipping. And that would f*cking suck big hairy disgusting monkeyballs!
And my parents will hate me for throwing so much cash away. They're in for a surprise.
I'm off to benchmark the Piece of Crap I'm using now.
Blaaa...
I'm a greedy cheap bastard. That Asus - more like Anus hoho - card appearantly isn't all that great. So I'm gonna have to get a Gainward - more like Gayward hoho...wait a minute - 6800 GT for 425 f*cking dollars! I must be mad or something. I've never in my life had so much money and now I'm about to throw it all away on a PC? Feels odd, such a waste. 1000 dollars for the ability to play games?! Utterly insane. And at the same time I'm greedy for performance. Staring at benchmarks and thinking "Oh, that CPU/card scored better than the one I'm gonna buy." In the end, who cares? 50 or 70 FPS, does it matter? Not now, but perhaps in the future? "Yay I'm getting 3 more FPS in Unreal 3!!"
Guess I'm mad then. Cause I am gonna get that card. But for some odd reason I can't bring myself into paying 30 more for a 3000+. So it's the same as below, but with an MSI K8N Neo FSR, Corsair Value Select 512 MB, a 160BG HDD and the 6800 GT. Which isn't the same at all. 970 dollars.
Money doesn't bring happiness, just more problems.
Oh well, I'm all set for STALKER and the lads. They better be worth it.
I...have money? How did this happen?
I was going through my "important" papers - they just lie there and do nothing, toiletpaper is more important dammit - and stumbled across an economic overview of the year 2003. I had 500 on my savingaccount! I had no idea about this. And since I've been saving money ever since, I expect that sum has grown to about 740 now. So this day I just might order a brand spanking new PC. The piece of horrible, infected f*cking crap that rots under the desk now is so old it might have been the only living - it has a life of it's own - thing to experience the big bang. It is too stupid to tell anything about it though.
Heed my plans.
