Pre-Concert Jitters and Ankle Bitters

Well, today is the day of the recital, and i'm not nervous about performing. That being said, i'm nervous about everything else, though. For some reason, every time there is some type of event like this, i'm never worried about the performing part, but my paranoia always jumps in for some reason, asking "is today the right date?" or "Man, I hope it's the right time and venue." I don't know why I always do that, because i've never had problems with the time or the date. But the second I get there, i'm not nervous at all; it's as if my body is in anticipation mode until the second I get there, then it turns back into normal/excited Andrew. I guess i'm crazier than I thought...

Well, one thing that seriously hampered me today was my ankle. Yesterday in Gym class, I twisted my ankle while running. (I've walked for 16 of my 17 years; I guess I can still screw that up somehow) When it first happened, I couldn't move my foot at all, but that quickly went away and I was able to resume gym. I even walked home on it. It wasn't until nightime where my ankle/heel area started hurting really bad, and I wasn't able to walk on it. This morning, it got really swollen, which prohibited me from getting to school today. (it's no use trying to walk nearly a mile when you can't even stand up straight) I had ice on it for about 4 hours, and I took a bunch of pain medication (not Anna Nicole quantities, mind you) and it's currently feeling a lot better. It still hurts, but at least I could put a bit of pressure on it.

I guess that's it for now, then. It's not like what i'm doing is a new thing for me, since i've been in plays, chorus, strings and piano, but it's still a great feeling nonetheless. Talk to you guys later!

Spring Break Ends

Today is officially the last day of my 10-day long break from School. I'm glad it's over, since it was actually quite boring. I spent last weekend (from Friday through Monday) at my Uncle's house, the weekdays at home, and Saturday at my other Uncle's house. The only interesting day really was Tuesday, since it was my Birthday, and I got some money from family. Even then, for some reason, most of my friends forgot my birthday ever existed, and I only got birthday wishes from people I had to remind about it, which was kind of funny.

Another thing that I figured out, is that Scrubs has easily turned into one of my favorite shows of all-time. It certainly will go into my top-three of shows, behind Whose Line is it Anyway, and tied with Home Improvement. I bought Season 1 on DVD yesterday, and I think the extras are incredible. It opens a whole new light on the show, and shows how incredible the actors are at acting and ad-libbing. My favorite character has become Janitor (Neil Flynn), since nearly every single line he has is improvised, and his delivery is phenominal. I could probably say the same thing about Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) who is probably one of the best actors on TV right now in his respective part. It's like an addiction now. As I said, I bought the first season on DVD, but on top of that, i'm recording nearly episode I see on Comedy Central, so hopefully I can have a set of most of the shows soon. (I have almost every episode of the first three seasons, and half for the fourth)

As I mentioned in a previous blog, I have a piano recital this Wednesday. The only issue I have though, is the fact that I just cannot play the new song in time for the performance. I haven't had enough time to practice (the week off from class didn't help this) so i've made the decision that I'll just go with the song I played in the Teen Arts festival last month. At least i'm comfortable with that piece, so I won't be as nervous as I would if I had to play the former song.

This blog wasn't as big as I hoped, but I haven't had too much to speak about lately. So, until next time, see ya!

Wow! Three Months?

Wow, I haven’t written a blog here in three months! To be honest, I did write one about 3 weeks ago, but while posting it, for some reason, it cut the majority of it off. I didn’t feel like writing it over again, so I just continued the dry spell. It’s not to say I haven’t been busy, because I have been. I’ve been doing a ton of stuff these past few weeks/months, so it may account for about 20% of the reasons I haven’t been able to keep in touch at this site. Anyway, let’s start it:

On 3/15, I partook in a Teen Arts festival. I’m not sure if anyone else in their area has this, but if not, it’s basically for everyone in “The Arts,” including music, acting, drawing to come together for one day at Union County College. The majority of these students (including me) perform, then get critiqued by judges. My Piano performance was fun; I played Musette by Bach, which isn’t entirely difficult, but was hard for me since I didn’t have that long to prepare for it. I didn’t do as well as I hoped (for some reason some of the keys did not work when I pressed them) but overall, it was cool. Even better, though, was the fact that I got to see many friends that I haven’t seen in literally years. Since I’ve had a lot of friends who went to different schools, and vice versa (I went to a different High School for half of 9th and 10th grade, while living in a different city) I was really startled at seeing faces I’d thought I would never see again. It was just one of those experiences that you just cannot explain, and it really brought back some really fun memories.

Last time I left off, I made mentioned that I was getting straight A’s in school. As of right now, It’s more of the same. I’ll tell you, the more I keep this up, the more surprised I actually get about this whole situation. Before the year started, I joked that just to shove it in the school board’s face (for not accepting me into the new Gifted and Talented High School, even though there were kids with even less credentials getting in) that I would get straight A’s to show the mistake they made. Now that I’m actually doing that, is shocking to say the least. I just hope I can keep this up until the school year ends.

As I mentioned earlier, I performed Piano at the Teen Arts Festival. Next Month, April 18 to be exact, I will be playing in the School’s Spring concert. I will be playing ‘A Viennese Melody,’ which was originally the song I was scheduled to play at Teen Arts, so I already have a head start on it. Hopefully, since I’m going to be playing in front of many more people, I could improve this song and my playing by the time this comes. It shouldn’t be too bad, though, since I have performed many times in front of an audience; I’ve been in two plays, (performed 3 times) three Piano recitals, two String concerts, three years of Chorus, and even a year of Band, so it should come pretty easily.

Back to school, (it’s pretty much an overlapping pattern of “Piano, school, piano, school,” isn’t it?) it’s getting closer and closer to decision time. Currently, I’m three Months away from the end of my Junior year in High School, and I still have no idea of what I want to do. I’m kind of looking at something that has to do with Creative Writing, but it’s nothing set in stone yet. (if anyone has advice of how they figured out what they wanted and/or how they chose a college, it’s appreciated)

Back to Piano again! This is a bit more serious, though. Last Month, there was a little issue in my Piano class. Because of scheduling, I’m in a class that only has five students in it; me, three Freshman, and a Senior who rarely shows up. Now, sometimes, the teacher leaves the room, running “errands.” (since we all know Piano is a self-serving class) She leaves her pocket book in the class most of the time. Can anyone figure out what happens next? One of the Freshman kids usually would go up there and steal about $10. One day, though, he goes up and steals $200! The next day, the Teacher comes up and asks me about it in code, and I tell her who did it. Long story short, the kid got kicked out of the class, and for some reason, the other 2 Freshmen lost respect for me. Seriously, tell me: Not even trying to condone it, but if you were trying to steal something, why would you possibly be so obvious about it? And even so, why try to get mad at me for doing it? How can I be construed as the bad guy when someone else is the one who did it? The only thing I can say, is that the only time I saw the kid afterwards, he called me a retard Yeah, real mature.

Well, I guess that’s all I got for now. Talk to you in three months!

Aftermath of Christmas

Hey, what's up, TV.com'ers! I thought i'd just drop by and talk abou my Christmas. So, here we go...

To begin, I opened my gifts on Christmas Eve, and not Christmas Day like most. I guess it was compensation for me opening my presents 3 days after Christmas last year, and my mom just let me do it on the 24th. As for what I got:

-The Rise and Fall of ECW/ECW One Night Stand DVD combo set; I actualy got this two weeks ago, and it's awesome. One of the better Wrestling DVD's out there right now, chronicling one of the most innovative wrestling companies in history, combined with their reunion show in 2005, which is easilly my favorite wrestling PPV to date.

-SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 for PS2; Very fun game. It's the continuation of the SmackDown! video game series, and I really believe it's one of the most through wrestling games out there. (It still doesn't beat out WWF No Mercy for best wrestling game, though) It's quite advanced with its graphics, and although there are a few glitches, (mostly in the announcing) it's still a very worthy game.

-NASCAR '07; Another fun game. As SvR'07, its graphics have improved, but it seems like a lesser game than its predicessors. It doesn't have an option where you can change its background to your favorite driver, and it has less features than NASCAR '06 or either the '05 version. Still a quite fun game, though, once you get the hang of driving 150 miles per hour while trying not to crash into people two feet next to you.

-Home Improvement Season 5 DVD; I personally like this DVD, since, as most may know, HI is my favorite sitcom of all-time. (Even funnier than Seinfeld in my opinion) Yeah, that's all I have to say about that...

Overall, I was actually slighly disappointed that I didn't get more DVD's, since I asked for many others, including a season of House, Scrubs, and The Office, among others. I'm satisfied with the electronics I got, though.

On the contrary, though, there are times when you know you're really getting older, when you get gifts like these:

-Desk Lamp; I got a desk 6 months ago, but never got a lamp, which really hurt, since come nightfall, I wouldn't be able to see my Homework. (especially when it goes dark before 5 p.m. here now)

-Back massager for my char; I've complained, for awhile, now, about back pain because of either my bed, or my desk chair. Now, hopefully, everything will be solved with this handy device.

-Blistex; My parents told me it was a "Gag" gift, but I also think they were telling me something else...

-Chia Pet; chi-chi-chi-chia! I can now add a Chia Homer to my room, which brightens up any day.

Overall, it was a pretty good year, with many more gifts than last year. (I only got two things last year, an iPod and a DVD Recorder) Everything I got, in one way or another, I needed, so it's all good.

Christmas Joy - I guess since we're still in the spirit of Christmas, i'll tell you about my favorite Christmas stuff:

Christmas Song: Do they Know it's Christmas? by Live Aid
Christmas Movie: Christmas Vacation, obviously. Chevy Chase rocks!
Christmas Ornament: My NASCAR 2001 set, which includes a Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon ornaments.
Christmas Candy: Life Savers Candy Canes

To steal a category from one of my buddies:

Scrubs clip of the day:

I wish all of you guys a happy and healthy Holiday Season! (or the remainder of it, at least) See ya!

A is for Awesomeness

I haven't written a blog in awhile, but I feel it's time to give a quick update on my year:

First, i'm happy to announce that after getting my Report Card, I have recieved straight A's! Out of all of my classes, I recieved a A-, 1 A, and 6 A+'s! The worst grade I got was the A- in U.S History, while my best grades came in Chemistry, Algebra II, English, Piano, and my 2 computer classes. I have an outstanding bet with my Uncle, that if I got straight A's, he would give me 50 bucks. That was 4 years ago, but it still stands, which is kind of fun.

Among the news, I just got a new TV. My Uncle got tired of his 46-Inch Widescreen Sony TV, and replaced it with a 50-inch LCD HDTV. Needless to say, he gave me his old TV, (Which is only 3 years old) and it's great. I just got an HD box, so all of my favorite shows come in High-Definition now!

Christmas time is coming, and my family is preparing for it. A few days ago, I helped my mom bring up a few boxes with many Christmas-themed objects, such as "Sleeping Mr. and Mrs. Claus," which actually snores, a few snowgobes, and a minature glass Tree that's sitting on the Kitchen table. We haven't brought up the Tree yet; we're waiting for the weekend to do that.

Speaking of Christmas, I have made my list of what would please me under my Tree come Christmas morning. Of course, a girl doesn't fit under there, (haha, I had to do that) but such things such as Home Improvement Season 5, House and Scrubs Season 1, SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007, The WrestleMania Anthology volume III, and a few other things. Man, it's good to have credibility!

Anyways, hope you guys have a great day, and hope to hear from you soon. See ya!
