Top Ten Fall / Winter Games Wish List 2006
Wow, it's been over a year since I wrote my last one. My how things have changed. i ended up getting 5 out of the ten games on my list, #8 ended up becoming my favorite game of all time, and I didn't even buy 2 out of the top 5.
So, since I haven't bought any games in a while, I think it's safe to do this again. This year isn't as heated as last year, mainly due to my lack of money to buy games, and there's just not many that I want this year. But still, there are some stand out games that I can't wait to play! As per the rules last year, only games after Sept count, no 360 or PS3 games since I don't plan on buying either of them, and no 07 games.
10. Trauma Center: Second Opinion (Wii)
Alright, I'll admit it. The first game was so hard I returned in to GameFly so it wouldn't own me any more. Maybe Ill have better luck with the Wii version. I hope so, since it includes voice acting, new cases, and more gameplay options. My guess is that the Wiimote in your hand feels allot more realistic.
9. Wii Sports (Wii)
I know what IGN and co have been saying about it's lack of depth and cheap moves, but you know what, I don't care. Ever since I saw Reggie and Miyamoto play on stage at E3, this game has been on my wish list. This is the game that will put the Wii to use. ...and I don't really have a choice on buying it.
8. Sneak King (Xbox)
Every time I drive by that huge poster of "The King" a feeling of absolute terror comes over me. I can only imagine what that would be like when taken into the immersive world of video games. This game looks like it's going to redefine survivor horror games, and for only a couple bucks, I'm sold already.
7. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (PSP)
You know that feeling in your gut that tells you that a game probably won't be very good? Well I tend to ignore my gut when ever possible. Sure this game has all the tell tell signs of a watered down side story to the main console series, but I'll buy it anyway. I tend to play portable games much more than I play console games. They're just easier to pick up and play rather than have to sit down for hours to get past one part. I'm not a big fan of MGS, but if the series is on a handheld, I'm much more inclined to play it.
6. Gunstar Heroes (Wii VC)
Since I loved the GBA port (see number nine on my last list), why not experience the original. I never owned a Sega Genesis, so my only experience with the game was on GameTap, I'm more than ready to pay $8 for this gem.
5. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (Ds)
I loved DoS for the short time I rented it, so there's no better time to actually buy a Castlevania game then when the next one comes out. Not much else to say about this game. You fight vampires and that's good enough for me.
4. Bully (PS2)
From what Ive played so far in my all too short time renting it, its an absolute blast! A school is the perfect setting for a GTA like game, and I'm surprised it took someone this long to make a game about it. he sheer variety was what really got me. Bike races, arcade games, classes, and a ton of other tasks make the game seem fresh ever day. Its also just plan easy to make your own "missions". Go egg the jock after practice if you want to. Sneak into the girls dorm. Plant a stink bomb in the toilet. Just be ready to deal with the consequences.
3. Elite Beat Agents (Ds)
I always wanted to get Ouendan... or what ever its called, but the trouble of importing was never worth it to me. Now thanks to Nintendo, I don't have to. Sure the song list may not be the greatest, but I'm willing to look past a couple flaws. Heck, if it's good I may even import the Qoeunadnes..... or what ever.
2. The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess (Wii)
It's been so long since this game was announced that I can't even remember what I thought when I saw it first. I do remember being in compleat disbelief however. This was the Zelda that I had been waiting for. Despite delays, and more delays, this still was always ready to amaze me each time new information came out. Now with Link back and better than ever, it's finally time to experience a true Zelda epic, the likes of which we haven't seen since OoT.
And number one is....
1. Wii
Yeah, its not a game, but it plays games! And that's got to count for something, right? At first I wasn't even going to buy a Wii this year. I wanted Super Smash Bros, Metroid Prime, and Mario Galaxy. I could get Zelda on the Game Cube if I wanted to. But the more I saw, the more interested I became. Maybe, it's pure curiosity, but I can't wait to get the controller in my hand and start waving it around like an idiot! Sure I regretted buying a Ds at launch, and maybe I will regret buying a Wii, but I think it's worth the risk. After all, isn't that what the Wii is all about?
